Spice Tavern in Cheshire West and Chester

Hidden gem... Decided to go on someone's recommendation... Well worth the trip.... A little out of the way, but a nice warm welcome. Excellent service good range of delicious food, beautifully presented.

I'm not one to bother about reviews normally, but..... I have been to Spice Tavern twice in the last couple of months, I was impressed the first time, a group of us went tonight, and it was even better! The food is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful, what more could you want?? With The Surrey Oaks opposite for a few cheeky ones before going to the restaurant, it makes for a very pleasant evening!

This is the best food I've ever had in an Indian Restaurant . The food was amazing as were the Staff. Will definitely be back soon . Very impressed and definitely recommend

Had a takeaway through JustEat. Had it a couple of times and it is simply the best! We are limited with restaurants that will deliver to us but that being said, Spove Tavern has not disappointed! Delivery on time. The food is lovely and tasty. I judge my curries by the tenderness of the meat amongst other things and the meat is never dry! I’m also a picky person so like to make adjustments to dishes. I have never had an issue with this when ordering from here! They have even phoned me to clarify adjustments when I’ve ordered through JustEat (for example). Very yummy! Give it a go.

My husband and I called in for a curry last night as in the area. I have to say the meal was one of the nicest we’ve had for a very long time and we love a curry! The staff were very attentive and polite. All round a lovely experience.

We as a family group, fully recommend Spice Tavern. We came to celebrate my Wife's Birthday. The owner and his staff were very welcoming. The food was excellent, huge portions, and very tasty. It was a 20 min drive for us to get there, but it was well worth it. We will definitely go back for other family celebrations. Thanks so much Spice Tavern for making my Wife's Birthday brilliant.

Food was spot on but expensive.Was not aware of a 12.5% service charge also.This should not be the norm and I should be asked

This restaurant has been variable since Covid, but I am very pleased to report it is back to a very good standard of cooking again, and the place has been ‘spiced up’ with a much better decor. Staff are good but no consistency as in pre-covid days, but those we met this evening were very pleasant. The meal was excellent as was the craft ale over the road at The Surrey Oaks. So that makes for a very enjoyable evening. Recommended.

Very pleasant inside and all the dishes we had were lovely and tasted freshly cooked. Just a few negatives; the poppadoms tasted as if they'd been fried in oil that needed changing, service was pleasant, but not very efficient and prices on the high side. We enjoyed our visit, but I'm not sure I'd rush back.

Above average price and no freebies of poppadoms etc but the food was ready on time, hot and delicious. Good quality meat too

After many years of very satisfactory takeaway food from this restaurant, last night we ordered meals for 6 people. All commented on how much the standard of food was very poor, eg prawns were tasteless, tandoori chicken was dry and rubbery as if it had been cooked, left to cool, and then reheated again. The onion Bahji’s were tasteless. What has happened to this service. We won’t be going back.

Started off with poppadoms which unfortunately been cooked in over used oil so they had a tainted taste, the oil also affected the squid rings (a new starter) apart from that the rest of the food was good, i told our waiter to inform the chef about the oil, our waiter did not seem to know the menu, we had to point to what we wanted and he was somewhat lacking in communication skills. For a Saturday the restaurant was quiet, internally it is pretty much the same as it was as the Ali Raj.

Nice friendly staff but why oh why do these Bangladeshi restaurants put sugar in the curries? So sweet - left a horrible taste in my mouth. Side dishes were better. We want more.authentic dishes not this sweet sugary pap please.

Had a large takeaway order from here and everything was superb! Friendly service. Food ready for (Covid-safe) collection on time. And if you have to wait you can do that over the road at the lovely Surrey Oaks pub!
