I ordered the lamb biryani and lamb korma and it was very disappointing. The lamb biryani had just small slivers of lamb and just one or two actual pieces of any size. While the korma tasted ok, it was all sauce with just six or seven small pieces of lamb. This is my first time using this restaurant and I will not go back. My meal for one person, without drinks, was £30.

Ordered a take away from Spice of Raj. Immediately on tasting the balti lamb I was compelled send them a message about the quality and taste of the balti lamb I bought. Here's a summary of the email sent to them: "The pieces of lamb were small compared to the overall mix of oil and vegetables. I counted less than nine small pieces of lamb in the dish - which works out to be the most expensive bits of lamb in a balti dish in the UK!! Ycall themselves the "Spice of Raj". This would fail every trading standards definition of the name. There was really not much "spice" but some kind of sugary or corn syrup with the few pieces of lamb. I only ate less than half of the balti dish and a bit of the nan. I would be happy to bring the remains back to your restaurant for a full compensation of the order of £18 plus I placed. Please let me know when I can do this so that your restaurant is not publicized as not being authentic. Finally, please get a decent chef so that he or she doesn't compromise authenticity and quality for low quality and quantity desi food. Please also visit the Dawat restaurant in Tooting to see what real desi food tastes like for the same price." I sent two emails to them asking for their response to my review. Did not get a single replay or acknowledgement. Hence this review.

Food quality excellent and very tasty food portions good and very nicely cooked, staff very attentive and friendly, reasonably priced

I can honestly say we have just had the best food with the finest of service,we will be returning to this place more often.

Spice of Raj is the best Indian takeaway near Wimbledon. The food is hot, tasty and satisfying. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and the garlic naan. They were both perfect. The delivery was fast and the driver was polite. This is the best Indian food takeaway near me.

Late - had to chase order then arrived cold. Not great and probably won’t return

The chicken tikka masala was way too sweet. Not spicy at all, I could only taste sweetness.

I love to support local business but when they exploit you, you tend to feel aggrieved. Spent £20 on 3 dishes, lamb vindaloo, sag paneer and mushroom rice to take away. The speed of the service suggests that this is just a pot of generic.curry (apologies) slop. The taste, the composition (more potato than lamb), is poor. When you can cook better yourself, is not a great indication. My suggestion, got to Tesco for a ready curry meal that includes wine OR go hungry and save £20.

The tarka daal doesn’t seem to have any lentils in it like a drink

First and last time sadly, my partner only likes house curry and doesn’t like my usual place so opted here, rice and naan cooked perfect! Both curry’s tho different ones both with tikka chicken were extremely salty and only heat flavour aftertaste, I prefer round onion bhajis as they travel better (my choice) free side only on collection I understand but spending double what I normally would I though a few popodums would be a nice touch as forgot to order, smallest mint sauce and samosas EBERR

I don't know why ratings have dropped so much for this place. It's the best butter chicken I've ever had and everything else is delicious too! I can't find any Indian in the restaurant that compares.

Ordered a takeaway from the restaurant through just eat. Very disappointed. Half my order was burnt and the other half was barely warm when it arrived. The meat in the curry was extremely chewy. Will not be ordering from here again which is a shame as I use to use this restaurant a lot but it seems recently their food quality has taken a massive turn for the worst

So so tasty, tried them out by chance and despite living in a place surrounded by Indian restaurants, this is now my go to always. Mint sauce is sweet as it should be.

Always swift always tasty. Not big rice portions so be wary if you’re used to big trays of pilau! Lots of places end up where lots of the dishes are similar. It SoR - regular order now. Always reliable and decent.

Ordered a takeaway at 19:45, still didn't arrive at 21:45. Staff at the restaurant were rude and one put the phone down on me. Assigning driver for two hours. Won't be using them again.

Both dishes - the korma and tikka masala tasted exactly the same. They were just different colour. No spice at all. Tasted like coconut sauce. Also sent popadom with no sauce. Very affordable but disappointing,

Tasty food but I received a little bit of chicken with plenty of sauce and a little bit of paneer with plenty of sauce so it's not a good value for money.

First time ordering from Spice of Raj, was really really impressed. The chicken tikka masala was tasty, however special shout out for the Peshwari Naan - the bread was soft and delicious! Portion sizes are perfect, delivery was on-time and a friendly delivery driver. Will most definitely be re-ordering and will recommend to friends & family! Thank you.

This is the traditional Indian restaurant you often find in the UK selling all the traditional Indian dishes that you expect to find on the menu? Chicken tikka, onion bahaji, madras, korma, popadom and biarani. It not one of the new tapa style Indian restaurants that seem to be popping up everywhere, nor is it contemporary, it is just the normal back street Indian restaurant and the food was really good, the prices were reasonable as well.

Worst Indian we’ve eaten in a long time. The King Prawn Puri was so oily it was inedible as was the cauliflower & sag bhaji, the basin bread was actually burnt and the chicken & lamb tikka masalas sauce was thin and lacked any flavour. An absolute waste of money. I’m not quite sure who posted the other reviews but it must have been friends of the owners.

Lovey food have used this takeaway before & never disappointed.

The raita was missing, but the biriyani was excellent, so overall I'm still very happy with my meal.

You would think that having a table of 11 guests in would be enough to warrant a bit of care from the staff, but it was difficult to feel like valued customers when the only thing the waiter cared about is if we wanted more beers...he looked disgruntled whenever we asked for anything like extra cutlery or water. Food was decent, nothing to write home about but the chutneys were good, naans tasted fresh. The sauce for my lamb tikka dopiaza was nice but the meat itself was tough and I needed a knife to get through it. The food is affordable but that isn't a reason to return here, there are far too many better options in London for that. Decent food, unfriendly service.

The food is ok, but a little expensive for the quality.

Unfortunately the chili paneer was quite hard, and tasted quite bland. The rice, naans and popadums tasted really nice though!

Driver was polite, food was hot. Next time I will try something hotter as I had a mild dish which perhaps did not bring out the full flavour potential. The mixed starter was really tasty.

The driver was late, had the audacity to scream at me for missing his call. And he was down the road not at my door so. He also screamed don't order from us again!! .... well, yes sire I won't!

We have eaten in at Spice of Raj and ordered many takeaways from there and the food has always been very tasty and good value for money. The staff are great too. The restaurant itself is small and cosy (to be expected in London from experience) but is a bit dated and could do with a freshen up.

All the food was nice except some. For example the prawn starter was one prawn and it was nasty. The delivery driver was rude, “next time order from somewhere else because we don’t deliver to flats” and the chips were unusually cold.

Absolutely disgusting customer service I rang back because they forgot something in my order then tried to accuse me of lying. When the delivery driver returned he again shouted at me and accused me of lying saying it would be my last order. I will never order from them again anyway

Food was great, just a tad late but was on a Saturday night.

The delivery driver told me I have to pay £3 extra next time because my house was “too far”, despite the restaurant appearing as one of my local Indian restaurants on JustEat. If it was “too far” then why would it appear on my close-by restaurants when I enter my address. I ordered more than £15 of food and received a no delivery fee offer for this, so I don’t understand why the driver was so rude. He told me that next time I order and don’t pay £3 extra, my food won’t be delivered. Worse experience I’ve had with a delivery driver.

The food here is excellent and the real deal.. I have had meals from here for several years both in the restaurant and as a take away. The staff are always helpful and friendly too.

The quality of Nan was very poor, not the original kind of Nan. It’s just rubbish. I wouldn’t order food again from this restaurant.

Food disappointing, massive chunks of onion in mains, golf ball size, excessive amounts of green peppers. Tandoori dish dry. Driver totally ignored my suggested instructions and very offhand. On time but long delivery widow. Not recommended. Much better restaurants locally.

This restaurant has disgusting customer service they have said my order was delivered but it has not been, I have been waiting outside for twenty minutes to collect my food. I spoke to the restaurant who was very rude and unprofessional, I use spice of raj all the time and I am very disappointed that this is the service I have received today. The Naan was not cooked, it was dough

After reading the other reviews I was excited to order here and was very disappointed. To begin about 40 mins after we ordered we received an aggressive call from the restaurant demanding we pay an extra delivery charge claiming we lived too far away. The restaurant we aggressive and rude. When our food arrived the delivery driver was aggressive and said this was the last order we would get while walking away- being a young woman this was quiet frightening and unnecessary after all the issue is not with me but between the restaurant and just eat! The food was forgettable - nothing special and not worth over an hour wait or aggressive and demanding behaviours.

Order was late and cold. So much oil and YELLOW inside the lamb. Not happy

Very friendly atmosphere and the staff are very attentive. Ive been going there for years. Service is very professional but it has a homely atmosphere. There are lots of different dishes that you can choose from. You can also ask them to adjust how spicey the dish is.

I have been coming to and ordering from this family run Curry House for years. It's always hot, tasty and served with smiles and care. I'm not a hot curry nut and always have the Bhoona Pilau Rice and Garlic Nan. It's a winner every single time. Consistent and fabulous time after time.

The food was really good and the delivery was early and the food was hot. Unfortunately, my raita wasn't the best, very wartery. But everything else tasted amazing! Defo order again!

An hours wait for some very bland food. £3.95 for one butterfly prawn is a joke and was not worth it at all and was badly cooked. Cold Naan bread and extremely chewy. Wont be ordering again!
