Spice Of Bengal in Kirklees

I’m sorry, I don’t take much and I’m not particularly fussy, but the food delivery we have just received is disgusting. The meat starter was especially bad. All cold, dry and tasteless. Looks like it was been reheated. The meat was in a single plastic box and all smelt and tasted of fish, not in a nice way. Bright yellow rice, the madras sauce was like orange wallpaper paste. Onion bhajis were nice.

Food was awful, cold, lacking in flavour and bright pink! Will not be ordering again.

You owe me 12 quid . You took my money and didn’t deliver. I rang you. And you still took my money…..

that was the best curry I have had 100% garlic chicken tikka balti. had the chat for stater and that was amazing too.

Food was amazing but they gave us the wrong starter and neither me or my partner eat fish so it went to waste

The tikka dish didn’t seem to have been marinated, chicken was tough and not tender so threw away; the chapattis were sticky and doughy. Not a great purchase/ waste of money.

This place is brilliant went Tuesday evening 3 course meal £10.95 the starters are freshly made in house and are to die for the main course I had lamb madras and it was absolutely fantastic. I always get Asian style. My wife had a chicken dish which was also brilliant and both our friends had chicken which was again absolutely fantastic chapatis freshly made so is the rice and the chips I could not fault this meal at all I can honestly say it is the best curry in MIRFIELD and surrounding area and they are always pleased to see you very Pleasant staff You do have to take your own alcohol, but this makes it an even cheaper evening and they are only two pleased to help. Thanks for a brilliant evening. Will see you again soon.

Amazing food and quick delivery

Saturday night takeaway. Food was horrid. Cheap chicken, watery sauce, soggy naans and the worst onion Bhaji I’ve ever eaten. Tasteless. Will never use these again.

discussing food , will not be ordering again butter chicken curry like soup , gosht curry asked for chicken got lamb all the starters were not what we asked for fatty and very poor quality phoned the restraunt and they couldn't care

Cold food and bland. Feel it's really gone down hill which is disappointing as used to be one of our favourite curry places.

Both curry’s were really bland and had no spices / tastes to them …. Paid for the pickle tray but no mint yoghurt and the onion chutney was chopped onion that I could do myself! Won’t be ordering again

I ordered a nan bread which didn’t come with it also ordered Malayan curry which is not what I received. Regrettably i ordered this to take away to my caravan for the weekend so didn’t check. Gutted. 😞 I’m ready for food and I have no peswarhi naan just chapatti. And the wrong curry🤷‍♀️ what’s the point of complaining now . Sort this out cause your curries are nice but people will get fed up of these silly mistakes

This takeaway is a mile from where I live but the food was cold on delivery full of fat and absolutely no taste use too be a great takeaway but after last night’s meal I will definitely never go back

Food was a little late arriving but was just about warm when it did arrive but was on the limit. Starter was nice and was a decent size portion. Curry was reasonably tasty, although a little more heat would have been okay. There was not a lot of meat in it though as only one and half chapatis was enough to finish the meat and leave a lot of sauce behind.

Curry was great somoza under cooked apart from somoza the food was very nice

Not one item I received was any good. From the chips to the curry. Chapatis where like tracing paper. Very very poor. Never again

First time ordering, we were impressed.

Ordered an hour in advance and it was still an hour late two hours is very excessive even on a busy night.

Great food, go on a regular basis. Owner and staff very helpful and obliging. Can accommodate any extras you need or variation to your chosen dish. And taking your own alcohol is a benefit as your bill is always very reasonable .

Used to be a lovely place 7 years ago, but now the food is very bland. Sheek and shami kebab was red for some reason and tasted horrid. Garlic and cheese naan was very sweet. As for the sauce, well it tasted like korma. Won't be ordering again I'm afraid.

Having eaten many times at the restaurant and really enjoyed the food, I have to say that this takeaway was watery and tasteless. I was looking forward to some really nice food. We’ll go elsewhere next time.

We don’t have curry’s that often these days but I’m glad we chose to use Spice Of Bengal, we used to use this restaurant quite regular and I must say it’s even better than I remember, everything was very tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. The order was wrong, the food was cold and it was over an hour late after calling 5 times and there reply was, the driver is at your door, then the driver isnt answering the phone, then 15 min later the driver is in traffic, then 20 min later hes at the door. Then a further 15 min later it finally turned up, cold and wrong order

Usually very good quality though last nights order seemed to ramp up the spice and heat level on both dishes maybe a different chef but too spicy for us! Won’t stop us ordering again as generally very good

I am so gutted that Spice of Bengal that has always been OK with both price, food quality and service has now got a poor rating on all counts after this weekends debarcle of a takeway order. We phoned ordered a takeaway for delivery on Saturday at just before 8, we knew it would be a wait as with the football on lots of takeaways would be being ordered. We were advised a 50 minute wait for delivery which we were OK with. at 9.30pm still no sign of the order so I called back to enquire on time of delivery and was told that they don't have my order and I must have called another place in error!!!!!! How when I have the number saved in my phone and could clearly see I had called them and no one else!!! Plus they had read back my order to me on the phone and told me clearly the price. After 5 minutes of being told how I was wrong and they were right as we were starving I just asked them to send our order ASAP - it came 40 minutes later and was pretty much thrown at me by a delivery driver and all the curries were spilt and all over the place - the food was not hot!! and also not great in taste and cost £41 for 3 curries, 3 chapatis and a naan bread which for me seemed over priced.

Called in for meal we had the set menu which was very reasonable with a good choice. The food was lovely with good service

After waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes I phoned them back only to be told I had already got my order, after keeping me waiting for 5 minutes more on the phone they said that they are very busy and my order was going out of the door now as we speak. Another 25 minutes later my frozen cold food arrived so I phoned them back only to be asked if I was a just eat customer or had i phoned it direct to them as they have to look after just eat customers and direct customers can wait and get frozen cold food. When I said this was unacceptable I got told in a very rude manner to cook my frozen cold food at home in my microwave. I don't know spice of bengaĺ had started doing this type of food, and I don't understand why they want to change full price for it. If doing food through just eat is making them too busy then maybe they need to stop doing just eat and concentrate on getting fresh,hot and good quality food out to the customers that have supported and kept them in business for years. If you are going to do frozen cold ready meals at least let the customer know and sell them at a appropriate price.

Was totally delicious and still hot, loved it

Turned up 45 minutes late. Absolutely shocking. Rang 3 times to be told it’s on the way 3 times over a 20 minute period. Address is literally a mile from the shop. Ordered 2 starters and a pickle tray and couldn’t get it anywhere near on time. Absolutely shocking service. Would not use again. Atrocious. Turned up after cancelling the order to be turned away with the food.

Starters were cold on arrival, the samosas were soggy and very very small. Tasted and looked like they were from a multi pack you get from supermarkets. Currys were edible but bland and one was very runny.

The food was beautiful, it was the freshest and tastiest curry I've had. The paneer melted in my mouth, both lamb and chicken curries were flavourful, and the onion bhajis were the honestly the best I've ever had. No excess oil in any of the dishes. It was delivered ridiculously quick, so it's was perfectly hot and fresh. Going to be ordering a lot more from here, feel very lucky to live close by.

Shocking experience! Took the food 1 hour and 30 mins to arrive, food was cold & tasty of oil and water. We spoke to the manager to make a complaint and he laughed and hung the phone up. Absolutely disgusting service!
