Spice of Asia in Wiltshire

Not a visit to the restaurant but a takeaway. It used to be our Indian restaurant of choice and there are a number of very good ones in the area so that’s saying something but it’s definitely not as good as it used to be. We may have got an off night but it was all a bit generic and quite bland. The onion bhaji’s were like bullets because they were overcooked and the mains were just OK. Not dreadful but underwhelming and on this showing no longer first choice.

We eat the food here regularly, and I can’t praise it enough. Delicious and filling, the quantities are excellent, with a lovely aroma, and tasty spices. Service is excellent and the staff are always welcoming and helpful. They are happy to provide advice and guidance.

Food mainly very good, service also good, some portions small given the price. Overall ok, but a bit pricy given the location.

Had previously ordered a take away which was excellent but sadly my second experience didn't create the same level of satisfaction. The curries, rice and side dishes were fine but the three naan breads were frankly dreadful. Thick, doughy and tasteless. Anyone who has been to India or eaten at upmarket Indian restaurants will know full well that this is not how naan breads are meant to be. It was disappointing that a simple Indian staple like naan breads could not be cooked properly.

**Restaurant Review: A Disappointing Decline** We recently decided to reorder from a place that had previously impressed us with its flavorful curries, generous portions, and overall value for money. However, our latest experience was far from what we anticipated. Starting with the positives, the food still tasted decent. The chicken tikka masala and chicken korma were flavorful, but that’s where the compliments end. The portions were shockingly small, especially for nearly £10 a main. It felt more like a £4 meal rather than a substantial entrée. The scarcity of chicken in the dishes was disappointing, making the meals feel like poor value for the price. The starters were particularly underwhelming. The onion bhajis were smaller than a golf ball and overcooked to the point of being nearly inedible. They were bland and tasteless, a far cry from the crispy, flavorful bhajis we enjoyed on our previous order. The poppadoms weren’t any better—stale and lacking in freshness. To add to the disappointment, the naan bread was small and unimpressive, certainly not worth the money. We ordered a selection of items: onion bhajis, poppadoms, mint sauce, mango chutney, onion salad, two mains (chicken tikka masala and chicken korma), two pilau rice, and two naan breads. The total cost, including a £5 delivery fee, came to £60, which felt like a complete rip-off. This meal was more in the range of £35-£45 in terms of quality and quantity. Overall, this was a subpar experience, and we won’t be ordering from this place again. It’s a shame because our first experience was so positive, but this time, it just didn’t live up to expectations. Sorry to say, but the decline in quality and value was too significant to overlook.

Brilliant food and great service

Just had a delivery from here and I can honestly not fault it. The food was delicious, the meat was tender and there was plenty of it - in our order was a chicken korma, chicken tikka masala, lamb dopiaza and a chicken tikka starter. Along with pilau rice and a couple of naans. Genuinely stunning food and have nothing bad to say about it (that’s coming from some pretty picky people as well!) delivery took about an hour which I’m not mad at considering it’s a Saturday night. 10/10 recommend!

We went here for a family meal after it had been recommended several times and it didn't disappoint! Food, staff and atmosphere was excellent! One of our older children was a bit apprehensive about the different dishes but ended up going for the chicken shashlik and loved it. He said it was tender, juicy and full of flavour. Lol. All in all we were very impressed and will be coming back for definite when we are down again. 😄

Of all the Indian restaurants in Lyneham, this is by far and away the best

Amazing curry. Incredible falivours and the best onion bhajis we've ever had. We live in RWB, it arrived quicker than food we have ordered from local curry houses. Food arrive pipping hot and the delivery driver was very friendly and great customer service. Thank you, we will be ordering from you from now on.

Ordered this curry between 8 friends for a New Year’s Eve takeaway and it was stunning. My go to shashlik was very nice. Order was on time and hot, highly recommend for a takeaway. Special shout-out to the mixed grill and the mushroom bhaji.

I went to spice of Asia and was met by a pleasant surprise. The customer service was great. I ordered a butter chicken, I can definitely say it’s one of the best I’ve had. Definitely recommend here!

Visited Lyneham for a Christmas meal with some friends , the food was absolutely phenomenal and tasty! The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend dining here.

Placed an order for delivery. As soon asour order was accepted and money taken from my account the delivery time went from 45mins to 1.5hrs. Contacted them immediately to cancel. Nearly a month th later I'm still waiting for my refund. We've tried contacting them and keep getting bounced around. Not impressed.

The food was outstanding and way better than any other curry houses in the Wootton Bassett area but the service was comical. The waiters were really nice people even if they were a little incompetent (in an amusing way). The value was amazing. I can't wait to return.

Ordered for delivery on a Friday night so expect to wait longer than midweek. 1.5 hour delivery, average food. Certainly better in the area.

Ordered on line. Simple enough but difficulty signing in. Paying was complicated also as I had to change the card registered, which wasn’t easy. The food was fantastic. Lamb dopiaza was as good an example of classic Indian food as I have ever had. As good as it gets. The korma too was excellent. Software needs tweaking. When trying to leave a review it was not possible as the keyboard on the phone did not pop up. The main thing is, the food is excellent and we’ll worth the aggravation of minor technical bugs. Highly recommended.

I have only ordered over the phone here, it’s okay. I wasn’t particularly impressed by food/flavours, the chicken tikka masala was quite bland. I felt that the staff member was very friend and accommodating over the phone though! Delivery is £5 and took about an hour (I live 15 mins away).

The customer service was brilliant in Spice of Asia. As soon as I came in, I was greeted and taken to my table. The service was great throughout and the food was amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone as me and my family enjoyed it here!

Our local Indian restaurant, we go back time and time again, both to eat in and for takeaways either we pick up or we get delivered. When you are ordering from the same place over and over what you need is consistency and boy do they deliver on that front. The service is always friendly and when delivered always on time or earlier than advised. We order by phone to avoid the Just Eat service charges and you can still apply the frequent discount codes. Great restaurant: highly recommend

When I walked into spice of Asia I was pleasantly greeted by a waiter who showed me brilliant customer service as he showed me to my table with swiftness and care! The food was great and I would definitely recommend as it it is one of the best Indian restaurants around my local area. The price is also very reasonable and the decor in the restaurant is very modern.

Ordered over phone for a Rasni and Chicken Tikka. On arrival I was greeted were well by the guys who said food is being packed which was in time stated for me to colect. So while to guy was at the till setting up my bill, a women who i think may work there barged in to talk to him about another order. So I was delayed 5 minutes while this women then decided other order was already set in system. So on returning home. The Rashni was like a Chicken Jalfrezi which I do also like though the Chickrn Tikka was very dry and tough. Rice dishes good though!! So two mains and two rice plus a nan just shy of £30. Need to improve quality for that money.

Have lived in calne and bassett and swindon and always religiously used Spice of Asia regardless of there being indians closer by to my home. Not one single Indian restaurant around can compare. Not once ever had a bad meal here and always arrives piping hot! 4 years on and I'm just leaving a review. But I guess it's a well studied review after using this restaurant for that long 😂

We are regulars at this restaurant, the staff are friendly and the food is very tasty.

We used to really like this place it was friendly with a nice atmosphere as well as good food but since lockdown and possibly a change in managed it doesn't inspire us any more. It's clean and newly decorated but the lights in the ceiling are too bright and now there are no tablecloths or linen napkins and tealights on the table the sense of occasion has gone. We were asked by 3 different people if we wanted poppadoms and when we asked for the bill the waiter said yes then went off to clean 3 tables before someone else realised.

Takeaway collection, decent value but the atmosphere in the bar area was dreadful! Food was poor, chicken was dryer than a desert in a heatwave. Poppadoms were wetter than an otters pocket. The naan was raw, it looked like only half of it was placed in the pan to cook. The actual curry sauce was the only bit that worked... That's good I'd go back for the sauce and that alone... Wont be going there again.

Went here last night, overcharged on the bill but sorted. Food was fantastic just a shame the staff were not a bit more friendly.

I visit the restaurant about twice a month and I also get takeaways. The food there is fantastic. The beer is always ice cold with a nice selection. The staff are fantastic and friendly. Rayim the owner is always welcoming and up for a laugh. Even the delivery service is great and so are the drivers. If you like a great Curry, look no further. This is a banger. Spice of Asia

I couldn't have my meal indoor according to the restuarant rules unless you buy a main course as thier sorted list . I wonder what could've been happened if i occupied one of those free table right there . I really had my meal on a public bench.

We went quire early but were surprised to see the restaurant completely empty save for three miserable members if staff. The food we had was tasty and well presented but I was disappointed with the chilli chicken which was bland lacked the kick I had hoped for. The rice was fine and the garlic naan was fresh but a little undercooked for my liking. My wife had a kulfi which was nicely presented and good value. This place had been recommended to us so we drove quite a way to try it but we won't be back as we feel restaurants closer to us in Calne are better and have happier friendly staff

Need to improve on butter chicken and others as well.

The food was lovely I had the chicken korma and my dad had the chicken biriani, great service and nice and welcoming people would highly recommend.

Sadly I think they have changed chefs. My meal was Luke warm and chicken not as good as before. Chicken sliced instead of in chunks. Will not be ordering against any time soon

So, Good points, staff are great, was quick, food was still hot when I got home, price was good. Not so good points, my garlic chilli chicken had seven small lumps of chicken, all the onions and chilli and garlic must have gone through a blender as it just looked like a brown paste. Chicken was hard, as was the onion Bhaji starter. Lamb rogan josh was the same. Everything was great apart from the food 🥘 🤷‍♂️

Takeaway. Food is ok, didn't get what I ordered though! No spinach in my sag gosht! And not overly large portions! Won't rush back.

I've been to the Spice of Asia many times over the years. Sadly it seems to be losing its way. The welcome is no longer so warm, the staff uncommunicative and the food is now quite bland. Hoping things will get better. Last night I ate in the Gurkha Baynjan near Calne. That's the standard of food and service that gets 5 stars.

Fantastic curry and great service..have used this service for many years and would not use any other establishment.

I told them it may be months before I have another take away and they said that they would refund me. 9 days later and still waiting for the refund. You don't take someone's money then not produce all the goods. Such a shame as I've been using them for a few years now, their food is second to none and never had a problem before and this was my birthday meal. All for not checking the order properly before sending it out. You don't treat customers like this.

We ordered a takeaway for a birthday treat this evening. It was the first time we have tried Spice of Asia and wow! Absolutely outstanding on every level. Super quick delivery by a very friendly and polite delivery driver. Very carefully handled food, so no spills and mess. Quality packaging helped! Food piping hot and it looked and tasted absolutely amazing. What a treat that was thank you. We will certainly order again and hope to visit whenever you reopen for restaurant service. Top marks all round 👏🏻

They offer a stylish restaurant with social distancing and they offer a take away and home delivery service . Best Indian cuisine by far . If you have not tried spice of Asia you are seriously missing out . Will be gaurenteed to be your local after your first meal .

We have been going to this restaurant for years the quality of the food has always been superb. I always have a madras and have never been dissapointed. The whole meal is always great. The staff are really nice they always do their best for the customers.

Not sure if the chef has changed, but what was a great restaurant has changed to an exceptional one of the last few months. Have had a few takeaways from Spice of Asia recently and they have been amazing. A few local friends have also agreed the food has taken a real step up recently. Would highly recommend this restaurant, either for takeaway or eat in. The delivery is also very reliable and despite living a good few miles away the food is still plenty warm enough when it gets to us.

We had our first takeaway from this local restaurant tonight. I had the Lamb Thali and DH had the Chicken Madras. The Thali was generously splendid and sooo flavoursome. i visited New Delhi and Utter Pradesh a year or so ago and can honestly say that the differing levels of flavours in my meal tonight closely resembled the originals. If you want HOT _ HOT _ HOT - this is not the dish for you but for sheer taste it was awesome. However - the Madras is not for the faint hearted. I was assured that it was delicious as DH turned from a healthy tanned pinkish colour to one close to burgundy, mopping his forehead and then his whole head, unable to resist the dish until every last piece of chicken was consumed. He is entirely content!

We had yet another amazing meal from spice of Asia .With quarantine going in we were dubious about take outs and this was our first take out since lockdown began.The food was delicious as usual , the staff as always were lovely friendly and helpful and are clearly working to the highest standards and taking social distancing very seriously with face masks and gloves which he even changed twice infront if me as he served me .Spice of Asia has always been my favourite guilty pleasure and I am looking forward to ordering from them again this week for my birthday meal .

We visited on a Saturday evening and the place was pretty busy. Service was not too bad, a bit more communication would not go amiss.Poppadoms were ok, pretty average really.Mains took a while, probably because they did not even take the order until the poppadoms were finished. The food looked really nice but was distinctly lacking in flavour, side dishes were particularly bland.Overall an average visit, the staff were friendly and the service ok, but the food was certainly not the tastiest!

Met up with some friends as it was a useful halfway point. Friendly service. Relaxed pace.Two of us had the butterfly king prawn as a starter. One onion bhai. Another garlic mushrooms. For main 2 of us had biryani, a chicken jalfrezi and chicken balti.We all enjoyed the food. My only complaint being that the vegetable sauce with biryani was a bit bland. Nice enough.

This place is by far the best Indian restaurant I have been to, the food is delicious, the portions are huge, the service is excellent and no parking worries because of their large car park.

Ordered a home delivery from here this evening. So easy to order and pay. An email arrives to say that 5he order has been sent. Then one comes to say the order has been accepted with a time before delivery. Our order arrived well within time, was piping hot and the guy who delivered it was so polite and friendly. Now to the food - out of this world. So tasty, with proper king prawns. A great choice of food. Not the first time we have had a takeaway from here and certainly won’t be the last, when we visit our daughter.

A lovely Indian style restaurant in Lyneham. The food doesn’t take long to arrive, is hot and is well priced. I’ve eaten most of the standard curries here. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a bit sweet for my taste, but that’s only my opinion. I did ask for a hot bhuna once and I felt whatever they used to give it a kick, was a bit overpowering. The jalfrezi was fantastic and will remain on my list of favourites if I return here. I feel that the staff could be friendlier. The large local army camp makes up most of the clientele and perhaps the staff are slightly complacent with their captive audience. Just an observation!A well deserved 4/5!

Out for my birthday meal with family. Madras curry is always my favourite this restaurant never fails with the standard of its food thats why i keep going back there. I cant recommend it highly enough. The staff always helpful quality and quantity brilliant.

Staying in Chippenham, so thought I’d pop over & see Raheem and the guys. Popadums are always great, and they are more than generous with the onion salad etc. Main course of Chicken Pathia, Special Fried Rice, and Chilli Naan, washed down with a superb draught pint of Cobra. Everything was once again first class. In all the years I’ve been going there, can’t ever remember being disappointed, one of the best Indian restaurants, certainly that I frequent, and there are quite a few. Well done Raheem, see you again soon.

Popped in to collect a takeaway this evening as usual, only difference this time I had my little girl with me as she wanted to come along for the ride. We returned home and had our dinner. The food was nice as normal. Only when I checked the change in my pocket it was short. I rang the restaurant as soon as I realised to which they didn't offer much by the way of an apology and instead just asked me if I would like the money off my next order, assuming that I will be returning, which I will not.

We went to Spice of Asia on recommendation and it lived up to its reputation. It was one of the best meals I have eaten. My partner had Chicken Tikka that was so authentic I had to eat some. My madras curry was full of flavour and not reliant on heat. Highly recommended and it’s on my doorstep.

We've lived at Bradenstoke for many years now and are regular customers to this lovely restaurant. We usually frequent Spice of Asia mainly on a Sunday because we have roast dinners in the week, so makes a nice change to have a Sunday meal with a difference. Today we were greeted warmly as usual and politely shown to our seats. We both had a starter and main meal that was presented to a high standard on HOT plates I might say. The meal was deliceous, and so many dishes to choose from. Highly recommended.

This is the only Indian restaurant I will go to. The best Indian by far!!! Great service accompanies the great food. Keep up the great work

I went to this restaurant with my husband, my sister’s family. The staff were lovely and friendly and efficient. We all chose a mixture of mains, rices and sides and shared them all between us. It was delicious. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and the service was excellent. We will definitely go back
