Ordered a takeaway at 1800 we wee told just over an hour for delivery 1945 had to phone and were told just leaving 2030 still not received absolutely pathetic we will definitely not use them again

We had a fabulous meal here. The curries were delicious with large portions. The server was attentive and friendly. We met their wonderful chef and intend to visit again when we return to the Island in the summer.

Food was awful. Probably the worst Indian food I have tasted and I was sick after. Although it was a takeaway we sat waiting in the restaurant. Sticky seats and tables. It needs new decor cleaned and revamped. Not a good experience will not eat here ever again

Absolutely gorgeous food, my partner has struggled to find a decent phall since moving to the island but said he "had a mouthful and saw god" it was that good! I had a chicken tikka starter (asked for no onions and got no onions! (Thank you!!)) which was seasoned perfectly and a lamb tikka massala. It was the best one I've had since I lived on the mainland over 10 years ago. Not greasy, thick and full of flavour. Definitely our go to on the island now 💜

The food was absolutely devine. Although as the place was quite chilly the food got cold quickly. The staff seemed very quiet but very lovely. The only drinks they do are coke and water but that was not problem for us. The tabels where quite sticky for some reason. So overall the food was lush but i think it would be better to order as a takeout rather than to sit in.

Was here a few weeks ago and frankly they aren't very good. From onion bhajis so greasy you could wring them out to a main so congealed it even had a skin on the sauce, to a table and seat so sticky you needed a putty knife to release your arms and backside when you got up, it was a bit of a disaster. Plus the fixed gap between the tables and benches was only sufficient to accommodate a person who'd been on hunger strike for several months: a person who wouldn't have eaten the food anyway but in not doing so would have had a better experience than anyone who did. After a few minutes I felt like a post office had just tried to classify me as a large letter and If I'd thought ahead, I'd have saved one of the onion bhajis to wring out, enabling us to slide out more easily (is this how the tables and chairs get sticky?). Food? One star. Service? Two (someone actually turned up from time to time). Atmosphere? Russ Abbot won't be singing about it. Saved the tip to fund a course of psychology to help combat the PTSD. Two stars overall for not actually killing us.

I tried the delivery food here before the quality of the food is great fresh ingredients are used and they are very tasty ..the decor is very trendy and clean .The staff are very hospitable and prepared to meet all u demands ,, is a very good value for money I will definitely recommend it …

I would rate my experience as follows: - Overall experience: 3/10 - Customer service: 2/10 - Hygiene: 0/10 The staff at the restaurant exhibited an uncooperative attitude when I spoke to them. They claimed their food was superior to that of other Indian restaurants in town and failed to apologize for their mistakes. Additionally, the plates and cutlery they provided were visibly old, with numerous stains and scratches. It appeared that they had not been properly cleaned, resulting in a noticeable odor.

Had a good Chicken Tikka Dhansak. Would definitely recommend

Waited an hour to get my order then it turned up as a takeaway.other people were served eating in and t/aways. Until I raised the question I was left unattended. By the time I got it I didn't want it. I won't pay upfront again.

Couldn't fault it really. Three curries, all lovely. Naans soft and good flavour. 10% off for collection. Service with a smile. Recommend.

The tika massala sauce and the rice was the best Indian restaurant in the uk I've tried the sauce was nice like proper homemade the service was really nice and the best food I've had

Food is unbelievable. So tasty and fresh. We collected and ate at home but wow. Chicken tikka shashlik was amazing. Everything hot. Server on the till excellent too. Well done spice of India

The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed their meal, however, it did take over an hour to come. Being a table of 11 may have played a part in the delay. Like previous reviews had said the tables and chairs were very sticky but overall I would go back again. The meals cost around £9.50-12 depending on curry type and meat/veg choice but rice and naan was sold separately for roughly £2.50-4. There was a slight mix up when it came to payment but it was all sorted and overall I’d probably go back again.

Excellent food Could have been improved by being served on hot plates

So we went in to eat at spice of India on Saturday at 7pm after seeing advert for dine in. Went in and they said food would be 1 hour and would be easier to order food and have it delivered to home within 1 hour. We went home and waited for food, 2 hours later we still don’t have our food. Phoned them to ask where it was, and they could not tell me what time it would arrive. Turned up cold now!!!!!!!! Namm bread unbearable!!!!!!!! Had to take food back and get a refund, this is after they put the phone down on us twice!!!!!! and when we got there they had people eating at the tables, this is what we wanted to do 2 and half hours earlier that they refused 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻Worst service ever on the Isle of Wight.

This is the rudest and poorest delivery service . We went to eat in, we where told only delivery while the boy picked his nose infront of us. Should have taken stock and left however we were told an hour £39 later and two hours since ordering they put the phone down twice and told us they were busy ruined my evening no remorse and I have had £39 of curry that I haven't seen disgrace avoid

The food is great but don't be fooled into thinking it is a "restaurant" it is nothing more than a glorified takeaway with some sticky wooden tables. The staff tried and coped reasonably well but it was certainly not their forte.

Food is good, but the restaurant is another world. Table and chairs sticky, uncomfortable. There is no toliet facility! So can't even wash you hands. The only thing going for it is the food which is good, but a bit slow. I will not be going there again. For take away, it may be a good place.

This is mostly a takeaway restaurant, but the food is lovely and authentic. We dined in and had to get our own drinks from the shop up the road, but… could not fault the food or the quality. Also lovely family who took time to speak to us as new customers👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 PS. Friend was in a wheelchair, really accessible..

The vegetable paratha was totally burned and black on one side when I called to complain the guy said it’s the way it should be so now we all should expect black and burned parathas bcos this restaurant thinks I don’t know better and he never apologised , rubbish service and remaining food was tasteless, never returning to this

Omg what can I say, we are here from the mainland on holiday and this is by far the best curry since leaving the mainland. The portions are huge so had to take it home.

The food was really delicious and the portions were substantial, really couldn't fault this side of things, However, we ate in and this is where Spice of India falls down, Firstly, no toilet facilities, no alcohol or soft drinks sold (you can bring your own) very cramped seating area which has hard and uncomfortable seats. Table not set and cutlery just put on the table without napkins/serviettes.We asked for glasses which arrived wet not dried and once food was put on table there was not enough room and we had to put some dishes on the bench. Unfortunately there was no heating and it was absolutely freezing so we sat with our coats on, this in turn made our food go cold very quickly. I would use it as a take away but it really is not a pleasant dine-in experience at all.

Didn’t get a chance to try their food. After 145 attempts to call on (call back) and 30 mins. Drove to the Restaurant to find that they had the phone off the hook. Long row of orders waiting 1hr 30mins for a take out. (I assume the food must be good) maybe get an answer phone machine instead of taking the phone off the hook or hanging up….

Never in my years of eating out at resturants have I ever had such poor service. We were given the menu had to get the waiters attention to order. We weren't asked If We would like a drink I had to ask. Ordered poppadoms no condiments came had to ask for some,Then the guy looked at us as though it was an inconvenience.starter to be fair came quickly,we then waited a good half an hour for our main,The guy didn't take our starters away instead left it till he'd put the mains on the table.manners,service was diabolical I would seriously recommend the staff go on training on how to run a restaurant. The only good thing I can say is food was OK hence the one star we certainly won't be eating here again.

First time getting a takeaway from here and it was absolutely amazing. Great portion sizes (we have enough for tomorrow too which is always a winner in my eyes) the flavours were delicious and we are all ready looking forward to going back for more.

It’s been 2 hours since we ordered, were told it would be 1.5 hour wait. So phoned back at 8 (30 minutes past the time they gave us) to be told it had left the restaurant and would be with us in 10 minutes, but still no sign of it. Don’t waste your time or money

Ordered at 18:50, still no delivery at 20:56, phoned to be told it’s still being cooked, poor customer service which put a real damper on a girls weekend away 😩

I have went to spice of India at the end of August with my family we had a fan fantastic meal there service was great and very welcoming and homely environment. Thank you Spice of India for your service.

After our favourite Indian closed we have tried another and it just wasn’t the same so we tried Spice of India and it was amazing. The food was fantastic and would highly recommend it.

Waited a while for collection as expected for a Saturday but was well worth the wait I went for a chicken madras with sagg aloo and was not diasapointed will defiantly be using them again!

So far we have been sat waiting for 2 hours 25 minutes with no food and the best excuse they could muster was it was a Saturday night and it is busy. Surely they could sort more than one delivery driver if it is a busy period. They say it is freshly prepared however that does not impact the amount of time it takes to deliver it. Such poor service I will not bother again.

Great new start up restaurant and take away in the centre of the ryde union st food and drink area. Excellent dishes served quickly and very tasty, obviously cooked by someone who knows what they are doing. No alcohol license at the time of visit, but you can bring your own. Give it a try.

I ordered takeaway. The food arrived right on the ETA, still warm and the aroma was amazing. The portion size was large and definitely could feed 2 even though it was an order for one. Biryani, curry sauce and naan tasted amazing. I'll definitely order from here again.

I ate here last night with my missus and kids. And it was fantastic. The food was spot on the best tasting curry I've had in a long time. The service was excellent they did the best to serve me as quick as possible. I was aloud to bring in my own soft drinks and beer, The prices was the cheapest I've had on the island for Indian food. Even tho its so delicious. The restaurant it self is spotless and clean felt pleasant to eat my food there. The staff was kind and tried to be understanding I will always be eating here for a long time. Thankyou spice of India for our lovely visit. Also my kids had a fantastic time eating there.

First time customer very very moist lamb pasanda love the food the only complaint the sheep kebab was a little dry probably due to the large-sized of it and the extra 20 minute wait on top of vollection but other than that I give it 4 stars very very good food and very reasonabley priced

This is a new restaurant with a bring your own bottle policy. Don't be fooled by the tongue and groove cladding and tables. The lady at the helm makes a superb curry. There was a constant line of people collecting their food. I had the Bombay chicken from the specials menu. The chicken was so tender, the sauce so good we mopped the plate clean. He had a jalfrezi which was also polished off with gusto. Seriously good meal. I must mention the young man serving who kept everyone informed. He did a fantastic job looked after all of us.

The surroundings are not posh. As you walk past the smell of the food is heavenly. Go in and the food does not disappoint. We ordered too much but all of it was delicious. Family run restaurant, lovely young brothers front of house. Mother in the back cooking. Well done, that is the best meal eaten out since I came to the island 27 years ago.

Ordered delivery, waited nearly 2hrs, but got to say it was worth wait. Absolutely delious, was pipping hot and good portions. Can't wait until we can sit in for a meal.

Waiter was useless, had to ask for the basics. After sitting in for over an hour after watching 4 deliveries go out with their deliver drive walked out. Don't bother.

Was gonna sit in, until the waiter put the cutlery down holding the business end!! So changed to a takeaway.....where the same waiter, who realized we were locals, loudly proclaimed that takeaway was better as it was almost half price and because we were collecting we also got a discount. Which is great but I kinda felt bad for the customer's actually sitting in. It's a small place with sticky tables and the food when we got it home wasn't great 😔 bhaji was floury and was overall disappointing. Won't be returning.

Ordered a take away and what a delicious meal it was. The meal was picked up at the time stated, generous portions and even catered for a vegan diet. The meal was good value for money. We will be back, thank you.

Have just had a takeaway and can simply say that it was absolutely delicious. Very helpful staff who accommodated changing one dish to vegan (Vegetable madras - gorgeous). Very generous portions and great value for money. Will definitely visit again when we are back on the Island.

Chicken biryani was top notch - 10/10 The tandoori chicken was scrumptious and succulent. Kudos to the chef! Service was excellent, the three young chaps at the front are fantastic and highly knowledgeable. The best restaurant on the Isle of Wight by a mile. The Manchester City of restaurants. Will highly recommend!

We visited IoW on the Hovercraft for a couple of hours and decided to have a curry while we were over there as we like to try different Indian restaurants. Spice of India seemed to have the best reviews out of the ones in Ryde. Its not long been opened, and they have plans to change the decor and seating, but the staff were friendly and the food was good (Lamb tikka Vindaloo and Chicken tikka Dansak). The chicken was particularly good. No alcohol serviced at the moment, but I believe you can take your own.

The absolute best Indian on the island without a doubt, gorgeous food lovely staff would recommend to anyone !!!

Best curry ever just about to order a take away

Had a takeout from here. The first time I had tried it. The food was all hot and fresh, portions were good…..however the curry we ordered lacked in flavour. I like my curries packed with flavour and zest. I will try again, I’ll try a different dish and see how we get on with that.

We ordered a take away saturday night none of it was fresh The potatoes in the bombay were brown onion bhajis were microwaved the whole lot was so disappointing!!

Absolutely delicious food. By far the nicest Indian I've had in a very long time. Superb flavour and succulent meat. The vegetarian food was also lovely. The only let down was the tandoori prawns - but only in quantity. £14 for two prawns seems a bit steep, but the taste was great. Overall cost was very reasonable. Definitely recommend this place.

Brilliant, at last an Indian restaurant I will order from on a regular basis. Yes the samosas were a tadge small , but tasty. My Patia was exactly what I hoped for and my husband had a Biryani he thoroughly enjoyed. Now we have a menu from this recently opened kitchen we will be sampling a variety of dishes. The wait is over for a tasty friday takeaway.

Lovely restaurant but the biryani didn’t have the traditional Indian spices, it tasted bland. The lamb in the biryani however was very tender and tasty. The vegetable curry to come with it as well tasted quite nice.

Literally the best Indian on the island! So much better than the slop from ryde tandoori. Staff here are really helpful and polite. The food is amazing. Can't be beaten. The only Indian where you want more and more. Can't wait for my next order.

Fantastic food - pakorra is brilliant - we also went for half and half dishes. Very reasonably priced

1 ordered a delivery from these terrible people.after an hour the range to say the driver had got stuck another twenty minutes then they rang again and put the delivery price up so by this time I told them to stuff their food and went elsewhere for a better service only took half an hour and I would never ring tandori again a disaster.
