It is not very often I have an Indian, but when I do, I really enjoy it, but not tonight! Not only did it go to the wrong address when it arrived it was so full of grease it was in edible, it looked like something out of slop bucket and the biryani sauce had the most weird flavour to it, that I can’t describe. I’ve had it here from lots of times before and never have I experienced this. No point in ringing back as they couldn’t understand me on the phone! But will be putting it in writing to the owner!

Spice left one star because I had to, to leave a review. Nothing to say, food was so late for the 2nd time. I was going to bed. Poor service

First order. Chicken had strange texture - it wasn't what normal chicken tastes like, although the sauce was good. Spinach dish was acceptable. Rice very nice but expensive for what it was. Need to work on being friendly to the customers - it goes a long way!

WOW WOW WOW. Spice has always been our go to curry amazing everytime. Tonight they have just raised the bar, perfect bhajis crunchy on the outside smooth on the inside Armadillo! The main was a perfect blend of flavours every mouthful zinged n popped in my mouth and the perfect amount of chilli too top it off , not blowing your face off but building throught the dish till by the end you have a wee dab on...I was that impressed i called them to say how bleddy fantastic it was. Absolutely spot on guys ive fallen in love even more with curry if that is even possible...

Thought I would give this Indian takeaway a try after being let down a few times by my usual takeaway. We were not disappointed, the curry was excellent and we got extras thrown in for free as it was quite a large order. We were even given a free can of coke while we waited. We will be definitely be using them in future and everything was spot on.

Food is lovely but £6 delivery + £1 service charge for paying online makes it a bit expensive. Need to look at this guys.

Just had our first curry from here absolutely spot on…arrived at the time we specified..it was still hot from an 8 mile journey and it was delicious highly recommend to anyone and very reasonable priced too thanks to all involved

Got a take away delivery Order turned up incorrect, bits missing and in poor condition Food was okay but when called they told us that when you next come in well add it to that order.....not helpful for that meal and probably won't use again

One naan missing from the order. Poppadoms were all crushed into tiny pieces. Food wasn't particularly hot upon delivery. The guy's tone when we phoned up was really quite unfriendly. He did not want to refund at all. Shockingly bad service. Just under £50 spent and it was not a very enjoyable experience at all.

Ordered a delivery this evening. King prawn Jalfreizi was tough and inedible. Mushroom bhaji was very acidic. Called to raise our concerns, however, the owner declined to come to the phone. Very disappointed and will not be spending our money there agsin

First time having Spice for quite a while now always been a consistent Indian but last night the food was amazing the quality stepped up again. The meat was cooked perfect the taste in the curry great and the portion size brilliant loads of sauce. Cooked exactly how we asked. Thank you to chef

Ordered a chicken tikka got giving a ***** vindaloo or some the int was terrible everything was burnt paid £40 for absolute rubbish don’t go here !!!!

Keema nan is meant to contain lamb mince but didn’t. Had all the other ingredients; onion, tomato purée and spices just no lamb mince which is the main part. seems like they’re trying to save a few bob, extremely disappointed. 2 stars is generous.

Always found the food to be really nice. The portion sizes are great; more than other Indian takeaways in St Austell. The wait time from ordering to picking up the food is more than reasonable too. Two things why it’s not 5/5 is because upon a couple of occasions, food had been missing from our order - which has been resolved but meant waiting longer for everybody to eat. It’s also annoying that there is a £1 charge to pay by card. Pretty sure that isn’t legal. Always pay beforehand online to avoid this extra fee. Despite this, though.. Will always go to back.

We haven’t used Spice for a while after not having a very good meal a few years ago. We decided to give them another go and I’m so glad we did! We had a really lovely meal and the service was incredibly friendly. We’ll definitely be back!

Hi , I have had delivery last Sunday my 1 of the food was leaking and allover the popodon and the other dish was so souver couldn't enjoy it at all. Call the shop ask for a refund and got no reply. Thank you for your customer service 👎👎👎

Counter staff was polite and helpful, but while I am ordering the chef in the back, was making a luge in his mouth, the counter staff tried telling me he is out back and not near the food not what i want to hear when ordering food I will NEVER eat from here ever. sorry if a bit gross but no other way of explaining my experience from this visit.

Used to be quite good quality, however recently has really gone down hill, very watered down runny sauces - The last Korma we had was basically water with some coconut floating in it, the Madras had two bits of meat in it, the Naan was just chewy, oily greasy bhajis, soggy poppadoms etc plus there is now a £3 local delivery charge and another £1 if you pay online. Rang to complain to be told there was noone in to deal with it but they'd get back to us, emailed as well, never heard back, now, just wont ever be ordering from there again..

Really disappointed with my food. It was really salty, the popadoms were soggy and so were the chips. Rung to complain and they sent me out more… 45 mins later so now my mains are cold 🥴🥴

Ordered a takeaway it was disgusting! The popadoms were dry just look at the photo of the korma sauce 🤢 it was so thick and very lumpy 🤢 won’t be ordering again

Curry's ordered Didn't even fill the packets therefore have half a pot of each curry sauce gone to waste . 6 pieces of meat and nothing else in the sauce.no complimentary salad or calming sauces because thats extra nowadays apparently so for £40 I feel out done and have alot of wasted curry sauce in plastic pots that I have to bin . Avoid if I was you from now on I did used to rate these guys when they started up

Nan bread was burnt, Tandoori Chicken was yesterday's, well over cooked very dry . We also had Tandoori prawns they were amazing, but not a big as normally are, but tasty. However the girl who served us our take away was very polite.

My favourite takeaway in St Austell. I get food regularly from Spice. Highly recommend their hari mirchi bhuna, it’s simply amazing. Portion sizes are great also. Always get my food on time. Can’t fault them at all.

Normally good but last meal was disappointing. It arrived 20 minutes early, which meant hubby had to eat before us as we had ordered from a different takeaway. Naan bread was raw in places & hardly any meat in the lamb passanda.

Timely delivery. That's the only star they deserved. Unfortunately, fries and chicken both were not fresh. Tasted old and if heated in oven. Samosa were also 'frozen meal' quality. Disappointed!

Really lovely people and service. Driver is always happy and on time. Lady behind the counter is absolutely lovely as well. Deffo is an asset to the business. Favourite dish is Sag Paneer. It’s absolutely on point and delicious when paired with their marvellous coconut rice. Honestly 10 out of 10. Best takeaway in Auzzell.

Collected food prepared quickly although was out of season. Very friendly. No real parking outside. Food was delicious.

We called in for a takeaway and I have to say this was the best Indian takeaway I have ever had, every dish was full of individual flavours and we were most enpressed, will definitely be back, shame we live in Bristol.

I had a takeaway from here not so long ago, I used to really enjoy the meals from spice but, it has somehow changed, the food was relsly greasy and not that nice I got really I'll from it and gave me a poorly stomach for a thew days, I had a tandoori mixed grill and it was so greasy as if the whole dish was deep fried I'm gluten and dairy free it said everything was gluten free includ9ng the naan I'm not great with dairy, I was wondering if any of it had gluten and dairy in and the chips was so greasy, and tasted not good.

Amazing tried the chicken jalfrazi and prawn curry with plain rice all of it was spot on right amount of spice. Will visit again

We ordered a delivery it was a wait and I did phone twice to see where it had go to. The delivery driver got lost so went back to Indian we were told on phone to expect some freebies when it arrived we had to big bags of food w ephoned to say there had been a mistake they explained because of our wait they had given us 5 extra curries and 5 extra rice also bombay potatoes and poppadoms. Food was amazing.

Two great curries. Ordered the food online for delivery at a holiday let. Unfortunately there was no mobile signal and the address is very obscure so the first delivery attempt failed. However, they persevered and the food they delivered was fantastic. Good sized portions and hot and tasty food. Thoroughly recommended.

Sad that this great little place doesn’t have a restaurant. We’ve eaten take out twice from Spice, and both times we said it was amazing. I’m sorry I don’t have photos, I was way too excited to eat my chow than show anyone how good it was. 😂 From the lovely young lady I spoke to, to the delivery driver. They all just seemed so very nice, one thing.. I apologise for the request for cheesy/paneer/chips and korma mix?! My friend clearly has weird tastes?! Funny enough, you accommodated her wishes and delivered exactly what she’d asked for! That’s kinda special ....! Hope you get busier and busier ( but not TOO busy obvs)!

Friendly staff and a fairly good location to make an easy pick up. So good so far! The food wasn't the best we'd had as it tasted a little bland and to combat this they had tried to just add salt, when that didn't work, they added more salt. I thought it was just mine but my partner's dish was also as salty. This was the first time we had ordered from Spice but I think it'll be our last too.

Brilliant food, cooked to order, there Chicken tikka massala is beautiful, there lamb tikka kababs are so tasty the meat is so soft and melts in your mouth

Just ordered and received our take away , good delivered on time, bad no extras , mango chutney, onion salad and also the salad for chicken tikka and sweet chilli sauce for the chicken chum chum , 1.5 hrs after delivery still no extras , will be looking for another Indian take away

Easy to order. Payment online was +£1 - a bit cheeky as due to covid they don't take cash! The meal was substantial but generally very dissapointing. The vegetable Tava was the best. The naans not bad. Lamb Karahi was the worst made from tough mutton and contained so much salt it caused dehydration and nearly triggered a medical condition.

Delivery very poor, an hour late on one occasion and another did not deliver at all. Not recommended.

Had another most delicious dinner. Chicken Tikka Biriyani, Korma Sauce, Boiled Rice, Onion Bhaji, Cauliflower Bhaji, Sag Aloo, 2 x Peshwari Naan.

We have just moved to St Austell and last week had a take away from best rated Indian restaurant and it was very bland and late, but this week went for this restaurant as more local and had also not read previous reviews like the one last week which was No1 on trip advisor. Our meal was great with authentic spicing and heat, best curry we have had in Cornwall and been here 10 years, however reading these reviews this take away is obviously very 50/50, I would not have ordered reading these reviews! If you read this you could be very popular if you became more consistent with your offering as what we had from you was great.

First and last time we will use. Food inedible, threw it away. Even poppadom were burnt. Waste of money, not even that cheap!

A very tasty takeaway, there are others where the pricing may be a little better, but the food is of very good quality. Will certainly go again.

it's a massive shame, as this was our go to Indian. was £37 for 2 Currys a rice onion badjis and a kebab. I ordered a lamb tikka masala, was not lamb I got. was 100% beef. old and chewy, and there was just 4 small bits. food was cold. Time to look for a new Indian. I feel ripped off

Spice used to be a really nice takeaway but not anymore, microwave rice and fat as chicken, we’ve found a better Indian takeaway now called Indian Ocean, so if you want a decent takeaway I would go there

Not good very strange taste 5 meals half eaten. Very disappointed

Recommended earlier in the week. Very helpful when we ordered and asked for some small variations to the meal but shocked when we paid at the expensive extra cost that was explained at the time of ordering. Prawn puri was quite tasteless. The nan bread that I ordered wasn’t even in the bag although they didn’t charge me neither did they offer to deliver one to go with my meal. The lamb balti was tasty and the meat very tender. But the mushroom rice was wet and stodgy. WORST OF ALL we witnessed the delivery driver in the kitchen putting his PPE gloves to his mouth to blow them up before putting them on. REALLY! with the Covid-19 so prevalent and this guy is at least touching the packaging of the food that he is delivering. DEFINITELY WONT BE GOING BACK

We ordered out meal got told it would be with us 45/60 mins well 2 hours later we where still waiting this will be the third time I phoned to find out where our order was got told it will be ready when it’s ready 2 1/2 hours later it arrives it was cold oily not what we ordered all the popcorn is broken and I’m Bradburn we shall not be returningAlso heard from Employee who delivered it to us because we asked why it was taking so long that the owner decided he just wants to smoke cigarettes instead we also found a bugs in a meal. we paid for it got it very late rude attitude from a woman on the end of the phone If you order from here be aware that you can get anything by your own what you actually want

I had a home delivery, consisting of a starter, main and a side. Although very oily to an extent, my order was very tasty and and filling. I was going to give 4 Stars, but now decided to give the whole 5 stars as I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Would definitely order from yourselves again.

Ordered online which was easy and straightforward. Specified a time and order was ready when we arrived. Staff extremely friendly and polite. Food quality was really good. Spice rating was accurate which was great as we all had the right level to suit. Nice touch was finding a portion of Bombay potatoes in order marked "free" and we were given a courtesy bottle of coke as we left. It was given in good spirit and we appreciated it. All in all a great experience and will continue to use Spice.

Ordered takeaway from here for the first time yesterday - they delivered within the time estimated and the food was really good. We even got some freebies included. Within our group we had a mix of vegans and meat eaters and found dishes to suit everyone. Would order again :)

I've used this place many time in the pass food as been great but today order was horrible late cold tasted nothing like it should taste more.like spicy gravy I threw 75% in the bin very disappointing will not order for there again

Phoned an order, told about an hour for delivery. Confusion over address even tho I gave postcode + confirmed where I was. 2 hours later no show so chased up; they had tried to deliver to an incorrect address + despite having my phone number returned to the shop! Turned up 1/2hr later + price quoted on phone was incorrect so had to pay more. Food was average, 1 dish completely wrong + way too spicy to eat. Not much meat in the dishes. The free dish on offer was missing! All in all, expensive, poor customer service + too long a wait so will not be returning!

Great takeaway. I always have veggie options, saag paneer and mushroom bhaji are really good. When the owner is in and cooking the food is brilliant.

Stay clear, but if you want food poisoning then this is the place to go rude staff and bland food it’s like eating out of the bins 🗑

ordered amongst other things a chicken korma- the sauce was thin and only 6 pieces of chicken in the entire pot. First time ever I have managed to eat my takeaway in one sitting. The chicken however was hot and cooked perfectly but the sauce was like warm although tasty. Would think twice before spending money on 6 chunks of chicken again other things we ordered naan - good rice - good lamb madras good but had better.

We ordered at 6:30 for a takeaway with about £40 of food. And it was supposed to arrive at 7:45. Well, it was 8:00 and no food, so I called the place and they said that someone was on there way. It's not 8:45, an hour past it's arrival time and still no food. So we call again to cancel the order where the person on the phone says that the food has only just been cooked and there was no driver at the restaurant to take the food. So we've been lied to twice and ended up not eating. Stupid.

Great food I had a garlic chilli chicken and my wife had a lamb passanda.

1 hour late Food cold Things missing No compensation and refused to deliver food missed off. Wouldn't even give money back from things missed off. Such a shame as the person on the phone continuously keep lying saying they couldn't get hold of the delivery driver. Who we then asked and said they hadn't been contacted. Such a shame the food is usually nice but the service has been atrocious.

Whilst the menu is extensive it is very costly. When to food arrived the curry sauce was very very thin and lacked any flavour at all. The Tarka Dhall was devoid of Garlic and the Keema Naan did have spiced lamb but was difficult to find. The best item was the Garlic Rice. Needless to say not be using again and at nearly £40.00 for a very poor meal says it all.

Joke customer service. Run by amateurs. Food very average but expensive. Much better available locally.
