Gave up on this place after ordering about 6 month ago online to wait 45 mins before then been notified they couldn’t take order despite taking payment. I was refunded eventually but didn’t trust again for a while. I thought I would give it another chance today but fell foul of the exact same thing. No answer to the phone, it still shows open online, and yes my money has been taken. Fingers crossed I get my money back. Please don’t waste your time on this place!

I ordered a meal for delivery through the restaurants website and received a thumbs up and notice that the mean was being prepared. The meal did not arrive. I tried to phone the restaurant, but there was no answer. I drove to the restaurant and it was closed with a notice advising it is under new management. I have used this restaurant for many years and feel very upset that this business will take your money under false pretence. I have emailed requesting an immediate refund. I recommend if you are ordering directly you phone first to check that they are open. Appalling that their website accepts payments in this way when they are unable to offer the service.

I have been charged for the order, when ordering on their website when apparently they were closed (it was not mentioned anywhere). 13 days later still no refund, even though i have received an email Confirmation that very same day about the refund being processed. I have tried to contact the provider in the email adress but it only allows for a chat with a bot

Worst curry ever. Just tasted of spice tomato puree and loads of grease. The lamb was inedible, very chewy. Nann bread was rubbery. Definitely not impressed 😡

We've only just started using this restaurant for takeaways but so far we have found the food excellent, always hot and plentiful and will definitely go to eat in when possible.

Had a really nice curry from there last night. They are always friendly, my food was a little later to collect than advised on the collection message but good things come to those who wait and they did call me when it was ready.

We haven’t been back to Spice Garden for some time because the last time our food never arrived but we thought we would give them another try. We received our takeaway 1 hour later than advised over the phone but that wasn’t the only problem. When the food arrived it was cold. The samosa starter was extremely poor and looked like they were purchased from Iceland and warmed up. We thought the food quality was really poor and threw half of it in the bin. Bitterly disappointed and will not be back.

Love the food from here, we have over the last 10-12 months tried a few dishes, all taste authentic, freshly cooked. The prices are so reasonable and huge portions. Delivery service great and with a smile!!

Absolutely disgraceful! First time ordering from here, was told 30 mins for delivery and took just over 1.5 hours. I then got offered a 60p discount which i refused so my order went back and had to reorder from another takeaway!

My partner and I visited Spice Garden last night for an Indian meal. The waiters were welcoming, friendly and attentive. The surroundings were very comfortable. Our shared mixed starters were delicious, as were the curries that followed. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended. Thanks to the staff for a lovely evening.

Food is the best starters, curries, naans, poppadoms and sauces the customer service is spot on, driver is nice too ordered loads of times and I havent once had a problem best curry place around also they do something good with their sauces

First time ever ordering from here. My partner ordered the chicken tikka in nan and chips , The nan was light and tasty , only downfall he said was there could of been alittle more meat. Overall though it was tasty and on time ...so we will order from there again .

Had a family birthday meal from here last night, 4 different starters currys popadoms and naan bread, everything was really tasty with good sized portions. Thank you for a beautiful meal spice garden.

We have always ordered from spice garden but over the last few months the time for it to be delivered has been ridiculous. Our last takeaway took 2 hours and 15 minutes to arrive! It usually takes over an hour and we usually excuse this because we enjoy the food. Such a shame but we will not be ordering again. They have lost a loyal customer I'm afraid.

The food was terrible the first time I visited the restaurant 2 years ago, I could see them microwaving food when I went upstairs. Thought I’d give them another try tonight. The food should have been here at 8, still hadn’t arrived at 9. Ended up getting a refund and cooking something for myself.

This was the worst Indian food I have tasted in my life. Even the coke wasn’t genuine, a cheap imitation with no ice. The waiter asked me my age, why I don’t know as I am decades past 18 and they don’t sell alcohol. Trying to pay the bill they said ‘we don’t take cards’ so off I went in search of a card machine. Oh dear, what an experience!

The Spice Garden, been in the village for several years now, and they never fail to deliver the best curries ever, always beautifully tasty and piping hot, try them, you won’t be disappointed.

Both eat in and take away are amazing! This is my families number one place to order curries. Been ordering here for years now and it hasn't changed since the first day, every time the food tastes amazing and the portion sizes are fantastic! All the staff are very welcoming. This place doesn't get enough recognition! By far the best Indian in Birstall batley area! I recommend the chicken tikka bhuna! If you haven't eaten here I definatly think you should try it! You won't be disappointed

We visited as a party of 6 on a Saturday night and although it wasn’t particularly busy, we felt the service was slow throughout our meal. They seemed to be prioritising delivery orders. There was no atmosphere and the servers didn’t show a lot of enthusiasm. 2 of our party really enjoyed their meals with the prawn puri starter getting a big thumbs up. The garlic mushrooms split opinions. My stuffed peppers were ok but a bit bland. The lamb in my main course was tough although the sauce was tasty and spicy. Portion sizes were fine and a total bill of £76 was good value. We wanted to finish our meal with coffees but they did not have any in. Overall it felt like more of a takeaway than a restaurant.

Love this restaurant. I regret that we don't live near anymore, so we cannot order for delivery. Very nice food, great service, always on time, never had a problems. Highly recommend it.

Always order take away from here, never disappointed, food is lovely really tasty and always delivered on time and piping hot. Delivery drivers are always polite, definately recommend.

Can't speak highly enough of this restaurant . While the surroundings are very comfortable the restaurant is not The Ritz but it is the place I'd choose to be over other restaurants. The food is fantastic, the staff helpful, attentive , polite and chatty. Feel so at home and relaxed here. I would call myself a regular. I've ordered takeaway/delivery from them online and the driver was noticeably efficient and polite. Would definitely recommend.

First time tried Spice Garden for a take-away. Great. Ready within 30 mins. Onion bargee, best ever, paneer tikka, wonderful flavours.Sylhet Modhoo, creamy tasty mild dish, delicious. Surma Special, spicy dish with many different flavours, delicious. Both with Mushroom rice, a meal in itself. Great food, shall be ordering again or taking family for a meal.

I phoned after 5 minutes late to check to see if my order was out for delivery and was told that 'I'm waiting for a delivery driver to come in to take it'. I commented to say surely it should be with a delivery driver already as it was due already to which my answer received was 'it's only 5 minutes late' like that was actually a valid response, not sorry etc. So another few phone calls back and forth 'it will be with you in 5 minutes'. No sign.. 35 minutes later it turned up to my house. I opened it expecting the perfect food order. Nope, a plain nann instead of a cheesy nann and a chicken dish when I ordered lamb. Another phone call back to spice cottage and I was told that they would get me one out in the next 10 minutes or so.. 27minutes later my new curry and nann arrived, allbeit with a bottle of Coke as a sorry. Too little and too late! Poor service and to think that 'it's only 5 minutes late' is an acceptable thing to say to a customer is disgusting.

ordered for delivery. got home to find 4 chapattis missing, called and they were already aware, they asked if we wanted them sending out so said yes, meanwhile we ate the rest of our food 50 mins later still no chapattis, called again to see where the chapattis were got told on the phone driving was just setting off, had already eaten all the dishes, told the guy this and he said to mentioned it next time we ordered but there won't be a next time as the service has put us off, no apology or anything! still didn't receive any chapattis

I only had takeaways so far, but the food was very good. I tried few dishes, and they were all really nice. I'll definitely visit the restaurant at some point.

I visited mid week and it was the first time here for me. Everything it seemed was pre-cooked and not fresh. It was quite bland but the service was good. I put that down to because we were the only ones in.

A** takeaway very pleasant staff lovely food not tasted a curry like it it's was absolutely amazing will definitely be ordering again super fast delivery :)

This is the best Curry house in birstall always food to die for I ordered on Saturday night which I know from eating inside as well as ordering takeaway is a really busy night for them but our food came early and was piping hot I can never fault this place always good quality food and by far the best curry in birstall! The delivery driver is so polite also the staff inside are very polite on the phone and nothing is too much for them

Don’t care how good this food is - waiting 2 hours for delivery is ridiculous. I am absolutely starving, and when we rang to complain they offered us a bottle of coke. Yeah, right. If you can’t do takeaway orders in a reasonable time, don’t bother trying to be a takeaway. So however good this food is when it eventually arrives, I’ll never order from this place again.

Just had our 2nd takeaway, absolutely awesome curry, flavours are perfect, no excessive oils or colours, restaurant quality at home!!

A lovely little place, serving tasty food. The price is decent and the quality is great. The staff are very attentive and cater to all our needs. This place has become a regular for me, I don't live nearby but I am always happy to travel out to go there.

We had an amazing 3 course meal with Naan bread on Sunday and want everyone to know what a wonderful occasion we had. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and courteous....The food was served perfectly and for such a good price Of £9.50 for Pickle tray and poppadoms, starter and main course with naan / chapati / rice or chips ......ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS..Thank you

Poor quality chicken and bad tast.Paid Nearly £14 for chicken madras 5 chapatis and pompadoms.Rang to tell them over the phone and said look after us next time. Food was a four out of five. However, the service left a lot to be desired for. From the moment I walked in, to when I left. On arrival, there was only one other table occupied, a table of four. The server was sat behind the desk at the back of the restaurant, more interested in playing on his phone. When I asked for a table, told to take a seat - waving to the takeaway area. Asked where, he huffily got up and showed me a table. I knew it was offer night, but wasn't sure what the offer was. Deliberated over the menu (which had the offer on the front), and when I was eventually asked if I was ready to order, I said I was and asked about the Wednesday night offer. Angrily told what it consisted of - only to be then told it was a different menu. Once given the correct menu, the server stood over me whilst I had to rechoose what I wanted. Food arrived quickly, and tasted good, full of flavour (thankfully not too spicy, as whilst it is a BYOB - which I didn't), I wasn't offered a single (soft) drink at all. (When I mentioned this, apparently I should of asked - never been to a restaurant yet and not been at least offered a drink!)I was then brought the wrong bill, when I queried this, no actual apology, just "it's this one", producing a bill from under the counter. Great food, great price. Love the place and would recommend to anyone. Have made 20+ visits and never disappointed.

I have ordered a takeaway for here before and it was lovely,arrived on time and was hot and plentiful. However I ordered a takeaway last night at 8.15 and told it would be approx 50 mins. That's fine as Staurday nights are busy after an hour and 20 mins I rang to see where it was and was told they had a problem with the driver and they were waiting for him. I told them that I would not accept delivery if it was any later than 15 minutes. The takeaway arrived and my daughters Tikka Masala looked awful and was cold in fact it looked as though it had been prepared in a rush. my Bhuna tasted nothing like the one I had ordered a few weeks ago and again was cold, we ate them as we had spent the evening travelling back from London and by now it was 10pm so was hungry and popped them into the microwave. Not sure I will order again though

Ordered food at 8.30pm and was advised it would be delivered at 9.30pm. It was then changed to 10pm. I rang at 10.15 and was told it hadn't set off but wouldn't be long. Arrived at 10.30. No yoghurt sauce with starters, mushroom rice was almost dried up to its original state therefore inedible. They advertise large containers then half fill them so pointless really. Had been recommended to me but would never use again or recommend them to anyone. They claimed on the just eat app that they'd apologised but they apologised for the late delivery not the poor standard of the food. Plenty of better places out there folks, avoid.

I have enjoyed getting take aways from Spice Garden since I moved to the area two years ago and have usually found them to be very helpful. Unfortunately that has not been my experience this evening. I used their app to order my food and estimated delivery was 9pm having ordered at 8:15. At 9:20 I rang to check and they said it was on its way. At 9:50 still no food so I rang and asked to cancel the order. The order still wasnt on its way. Understand it's difficult when you are busy but some honesty would have been nice. The man on the phone was rude and when I asked how to cancel an order if I had already paid on the app, he said he didn't know. I asked if he could find out for me and he hung up the phone. I then rang back and asked if he could help. I then gave up trying. Not the level of customer service you would expect from a regular customer. Disappointing.

We ordered a takeaway for four hungry people via Just Eat, to be delivered to our home address, which included the correct postcode. Estimated arrival 20:35.At 21:00, Just Eat's website told we the food had been delivered at 20:45 - no such luck, so I rang the restaurant directly. The person who answered was very polite, and somewhat surprised, and said he'd contact the driver. A while later, the driver rang to say he was outside our house, but no-one was answering. I went to the door, and out into the road, but no delivery car. He then said he was at the wrong address, same number and road name, but in a different area - I have checked, and there is no alternative road of the same name where he said he was. He told me he'd be 5 minutes, and I informed him that, if the food was not hot, he'd be taking it back. I rather irately relayed this to the restaurant as well. The food duly arrived, and was hot, so it was accepted. There was a complimentary dish of Tandoori Chicken, which suggests this was actually a replacement for my original order. Fair play to the Spice Garden, if that was the case, and thank you. Apologies if I was rather annoyed; not with the restaurant, but rather with the driver.The food was plentiful and very good. We were so hungry that it barely touched the sides!

Had a takeaway and all was well until I had a couple of rock hard pieces of chicken in my curry but I persevered. Overall the taste was lovely so I can't knock them for that! Was nice to have a garlic chapatti which had some intense garlic flavours from (minced?) garlic.I would definitely give these guys another try

Visited this " restaurant" with a colleague for an early evening meeting . It was empty when we went in just us and another three when we left . The food was poor . Did not enjoy it at all !

Visited this restaurant with my family to celebrate my birthday.We had a lovely meal,the food was fresh,well cooked and the staff were very friendly.Will definitely visit again.

Was recommended this Restaurant by a friend and finally called in tonight, straight away the relaxing surroundings and fantastic aroma of delicious food made me know this visit wouldn"t be my last. And i wasnt dissapointed, the Shami kebabs were different to other local restaurants and were flavoured to perfection, followed by a chicken madras that was powerful in flavour rather than throat stripping hot..My wife had a chicken chilli garlic, and that too was a big hit, Garlic naan and 2 garlic chappati made sure we were full to busting !! Big thumbs up from us and would highly recommend to anyone.

Been to Spice Garden twice now. Both times the food has been delicious, service v friendly and at a good price.1st visit was for a birthday. It was a party of 14 and they struggled to get all the food ready at the same time. Not surprising as it's a small restaurant with less than 30 seats. This didn't spoil the night and a good time was had by all.2nd visit was with another couple and there were no problems. If you like a spicy dish with plenty of flavour I would recommend the Mr Nago. The Bhuna I had on my 1st visit was also good. Royal Sizzler is an excellent starter. Bill was a v reasonable £64 for the 4 of us. Being able to bring your own alcohol certainly keeps the cost down. Co-op is just over the road and Tesco & Kwik Save are nearby.Car parking is on street or at the small marketplace car park and shouldn't be a problem. We managed to park outside the window on both occasions.Not sure if there is wheelchair access. Toilets are upstairs and I don't think there's a disabled toilet.Will definitely visit again soon.

I have visited this place a few time now and all the meals me and my wife have had have been spot on.I am writing this hoping it will be listed on tripadvisor because it's a shame it isn't.It's a bring your own beer place so it's not expensive,the co-op is across the road if you get caught short.Now Birstall has two fantastic Asian restaurants.Try the Mr Naga if you like it spicey.
