Spice Exchange in Cheltenham

This was probably the best curry I've ever had! We stayed in town for a couple of nights and fancied a curry. Luckily, we stumbled upon Spice exchange. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and very genuine too. The menu is full of choices and the prices were very reasonable as well. Our meals came out very quickly and were absolutely delicious, the service was fantastic! We will certainly pop in again when we're in town. Do yourself a favour and make a visit. It's worth it.

We when to the spice exchange for the first time after a visit to Cheltenham. The reviews were good and we were not disappointed very friendly staff and the food was very good. Would definitely go there again if we stayed in Cheltenham again.

Spice Exchange is our new favourite local Indian restaurant The beautiful food is cooked to how spicy you would like it - the staff are professional and friendly, and we have visited many times since I discovered SE earlier this year. Can't speak for the atmosphere as I ordered takeaway but wow, nicest madras I've had in a long time. Easily the best in my area. The guy who delivered it was spot on (works in the restaurant I believe) very polite, told me if there's any issues just call and he will come straight back with a new order.

Tasteless and very sweet nothing like any other garlic chicken Balti I’ve ever had it went straight I the bin

Probably the most terrible decision I’ve ever made to order from here. The butter chicken is not even 1% of what a butter chicken should taste like! And the Daal is probably days old!

Everything was smooth and too perfection

Ordered as a takeaway having previously enjoyed many from here before, every dish was completely different to how it has been previously and was very disappointing. Sauces were all watery and lacking flavour. Barely ate any of it, will be choosing somewhere else next time, very disappointed as have always loved their food.

I don’t normally leave reviews but after a busy day decorating, then going down our local pub to watch the footy me and the mrs were craving curry what we both ordered was disgusting we both had a masala dishes after one mouthful had to bin not happy

Best Indian takeaway in Cheltenham!

Beautiful, traditional, professional and friendly- a hidden gem in Cheltenham town - Mine and my family's favourite local Indian restaurant!

As I was Staying in Chelts with my Stunning and most beautiful partner, Liz I had the desire for a Chicken Korma, having read a few reviews this one was close by, as i had bren drinking in "Spoons" I called in and was greeted by a group of very pleasant guys, all eager to help. I ordered my usual in any new place, Chicken Korma, Keema Naan bread and onion bhaji.. with discounts, for collecting, it came to £16. Having eaten in some great places around the UK mostly up north, in Bradford, Huddersfield, and Leeds...this was a really nice Korma, I will go back. Liz, I love you more and will Marry You....always 3SW .. x

We are Australian visitors to Cheltenham and have dined at the Spice Exchange twice in one week. On both occassions the food was excellent, service good and very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and great value. Set meal for two which was two large starters, papadums with pickles etc. Two equally large curries with rice and garlic naan as well as Bombay potatoes. More than enough for two and all very nice.

My husband and I visited this restaurant last night. Very different food from what we are use to although they were the foods we normally choose. The taste and succulency of the chicken just melted in our mouths. The Bombay potatoes had its own taste which was unreal. The staff were so attentive to your every need and friendly. I would most definitely come back when in Cheltenham again .

My go-to for takeaway Indian food in Cheltenham! Consistently the best in town, with flavors that never disappoint. The staff is friendly, and their delivery service is always on time.

Excellent food, we all had different dishes, and everyone was well cooked and spiced to perfection. Staff were friendly, helpful, and obligingly. There was no rushing of courses yo get us finished and out, nor was it slow and delayed everything arrived as we were ready for it. Perfect food yet again! Best Indian food in Cheltenham :)

Unfortunately big disappointment. Food wasn't fresh, saag aloo was probably on its last day, you could taste it. Naan was burnt and chewy, but the worst was chicken passanda, very plain and blunt taste, colour of beige. Onion bhaji wasnt crispy, tasted old. In general shame as we were hoping to try something new,but we will stick to our usual Indian. Only plus was fast delivery and polite driver.

8 of us had a table booked for 8pm and although they had us and another large table in the restaurant they had more large bookings arriving after us. The service was dreadful in that the food was slow coming out of the kitchen. They were processing a lot of takeaways. We ordered and after one hour had only received our poppadoms and our starters were finally served after an hour 45 minutes with our main course arriving two and a half hours after arriving in the restaurant. There had been a vague apology offered but no complimentary drinks just the offer to serve us more drinks. I asked for the food I’d not eaten to be packaged up and after a discussion between the waiter and, I’m assuming the owner, this was permitted, but the raita and salad were not packaged. Some of our party rated the food and others were disappointed. I think the Spice Exchange didn’t give a damn whether we were satisfied or not. I don’t live near Cheltenham and I would not go again if I did. I’d be cautious if you’re going in a large group and be prepared to wait.

We happened upon this lovely restaurant by accident when visiting Cheltenham. The staff were very welcoming and they catered to our every need. Very clean and tidy too. My husband chose an Afghan chicken dish from the special little menu on our table. He said it was excellent. I chose Bombay Aloo and wasn't disappointed either, we had lovely fluffy pilau rice with it and a yummy garlic nan bread. The whole meal was delicious 😋 We would definitely recommend this little treasure of a restaurant. We'll done 😊

Amazing food and service as always!

Great tasting food and friendly staff. We just walked and the staff happily looked after us. My wife had bombay aloo main main dish and I had chicken afghani and the sauce had black pepper and mustard, it was fantastic as I had never had it before. We were told the specials are not the normal dishes but the chef experimenting to see how popular they are. The price is good and we definitely recommend to any one visiting and wanting to support an independent business.

We stumbled on this place very late last Friday evening and luckily they would serve us. The food was OK, I went safe with Chicken Dhansak which was a bit aqueous for my liking. The other three said there food was OK too.

Just ordered a takeaway and we couldn’t fault it! I called before ordering as I’m gluten intolerant and the staff were incredibly helpful with advice on menu options (as always) it was a real pleasure to eat your food! Thanks to all the staff at Spice Exchange :))

Excellent Indian cuisine. Friendly staff, reasonably priced and highly reccomended. Our show at the Everyman finished at 9.30 - we walked just 4 minutes to the restaurant. Kitchen is open 'till 11pm but I think if you phone ahead they will accommodate you even later. Even better...we over-ordered (as you do) and it was no trouble at all for the staff to package up a 'doggy bag' for tomorrow's lunch. Yummers!

Great food, great staff. Mixed grills do tend to smoke a bit, and at one stage, the whole restaurant were coughing their rings up! Other than the smoke 10/10

Best Indian I’ve found in Cheltenham so far, really good food and the staff are very polite and friendly.

We were staying in our Motorhome at Cheltenham race course for one night, and wanted something for dinner. It was after 8pm, so opted for delivery. After 15 minutes looking online we chose Spice Exchange. We were not disappointed. The call was answered by a well mannered young man. Order taken and he took time to check our delivery location. Paid by card over the phone. Food delivered within the 45 minutes we were advised. It was delicious. Chicken Korma and chicken Jalfrazi, both with pilau rice. We ordered direct and not through any of the apps. This way the business gets the full amount due and doesn't lose extortionate commission take by Ubereats and Just Eat etc. If we would definitely order from here again if we are in the area!!

We are regulars in here, the food and service is always very good. Omar and the team are always lovely, friendly and welcoming, fantastic service. If you fancy some Indian Cuisine in Cheltenham this is certainly the best place to go and never disappoints.

You can't fault it...when one of staff apologies for not giving his best even though he did you know they are fabulous.

Loved it in here food was lovely. Service was lovely, but if you have trouble with stairs like I do, or use a wheel chair, its a no..the stairs are very steep, and the loos are down stairs..

Friendly enough staff , average food .

We love this place. I've been coming here for years, and it's never let me down. The menu has a huge variety of options. The portions are more than i can eat (but somehow I do eat it all), and the service is great. It's a family run restaurant with high standards and reasonable prices. Tip top place.

Food was amazing, but the service was lacking slightly. Very long waits for drinks/bill.

Definitely a nice restaurant, staff were welcoming and helped us with choosing the right dish for us as well. The flavours were nice. But it was definitely expensive, maybe because Cheltenham itself is expensive as a place but we paid like £85 for just the 3 of us which I thought was quite expensive for the quantity they served. If price isn’t an issue I would definitely suggest this place.

Not a good choice the food was very basic and was reheated hence very dry lamb in the korma tasted like old bites reused

Not the best decor but food great and staff friendly

Last minute visit following a cancellation elsewhere and we were not disappointed. This restaurant has been on my list for many, many years and I am so pleased that we finally visited. The menu items were excellent as was the friendly service and value for many. It will not be as long before we visit again

I had a terrible experience in an Indian restaurant in my first night in Cheltenham. Then in my last day, I wanted to try this restaurant. Owners and customer service were lovely. They took the time to explain everything to me. They care about vegan customers and make sure that they also get properly prepared rich food that is worth the menu price like others. Some restaurants do not care about it. So, the food was very rich and spicy, as I wanted and listened to his recommendation. It was well cooked and delicious that I sneaked the leftover half to my bus putting in a few bags since I did not want to leave it behind. Portions were generous, prices reasonable, unlike this other Indian restaurant in the same area that I rated. Lovely food, people, care, price, and cleanliness. They know how to cook. Also, they were very kind, I sat quite long, just so that I don't wait outside till my bus arrives and they did not rush me at all or did not make me feel bad.

I can't give this anymore than 3/5. Great covid setup and the veg Balti was fantastic, but the rest wasn't enjoyable. The Tikka was a strange texture and very salty, the chicken pakora most certainly didn't have the right batter (couldn't bear to eat that) and the Tikka masala was incredibly red and artifical. Unfortunately, we won't be back. 3, as one of our friends really enjoyed his Balti.

Please sack your chef, he either doesn’t have a taste bud or doesn’t know how to cook. Your food is sh....t. and waste of money.
