Had family visiting from London and we were all very impressed with the food. It was the most authentic we had tasted and the staff were helpful and very pleasant. It’s a must visit place to really experience the amazing food and atmosphere.

Absolutely beautiful food and exceptional staff had a wonderful experience! Will definitely be returning soon. Also for a Michelin guide restaurant the set prices are amazing!

What a fantastic culinary experience we had at Bhoomi Kitchen for our daughter’s 28th birthday last week. Food, wine & staff were all 10/10…

Raj, our waiter, was extremely friendly and gave us very competent advice. The atmosphere is very nice and the food is excellent. Bhoomi Kitchen is unreservedly recommendable

Tried for the first time when visiting Cheltenham this year and would 100% recommend. The Chilli Chicken is the best I have ever had. Service is friendly and polite. Raj is an excellent waiter!

The reason of 1 star is for the rude staff women who always when I order each time between 40/50£ she says is closed at 9 o'clock...meantime other staff took orders at 21:20 each time I rang.... hopefully the manager will see this message and will take action because you just lost a valuable customer...I'll have to stick with opposite road indian restaurant from now on ! Thanks for the last 3 years food service but I won't comeback here again , that's not how you treat a regular customer ! Shame !

I loved this placed. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.

Even though the restaurant is quite ‘grown up’ they accommodated us with our 1-year old and were really nice about it, providing a high chair. The food was extraordinary, and we were so glad we came. The chettinad beef had layers of flavour and the lamb chop starter was buzzing with spice. I love a simple curry house, but this was a different world. All round a great experience.

I haven't been to Bhoomi for a very long time and my last visit reminded me why. This place was very good a few years back but since then its rebranded itself as an expensive mini prithvi without any effort put into the food. Meal was ridiculously bland and I couldnt understand what they stood for anymore. Service was good however and saved the night. Not sure about the dark decor, not exactly Indian Street food vibes

The evening at Bhoomi Kitchen was fantastic from start to finish! The ambience is so cosy and slightly Boho chic. The food is out of this world - so fresh and such great quality. It is definitely on the expensive side BUT, as a special occasion, worth every penny.

Pleasant enough place to eat, possibly a victim of its own success as staff were scurrying around quite rushed. As for the food, I had the banquet, the Kala was exquisite, the lamb was ok, and the chicken 'nuggets' hmmmm. I chose the chilli chicken and prawn thooka. Disappointed to find the chicken was marinated in the poppadom dip. The prawns were nice. Strangely I did not get any rice or bread as advertised. To summarise, I've had better meals for less money. (However it was a lot better than the place in the old rotunda building!)

We don't eat out in Oxford much anymore because the fiasco of the Botley Road closure means access from the western suburbs is severely limited and most of the restaurants are simply not worth the trouble. Bhoomi Kitchen IS different (and worth the detour). A cut above the standard restaurant serving indian food. The menu is small. This gives the chef/s the opportunity to put some love into the preparation of their food which the front of house staff carefully serve and explain. A nice variety of small and large dishes are on offer. We shared the indian crisp selection, brilliantly spicy barbecued prawns (not only delicious but enormous), a special biriani (you havn't tasted one as good as this in Oxford before) and butter chicken plus pilau rice; succulent, scented, sumptuous. Too full for desert, water and beer - less than £75.00. Bhoomi kitchen clearly deserves its Michelin recommendation. Looking forward to a repeat visit, hope we don't get drowned in a deluge again.

A big thank you to Awa and her team!! We had the Festive Feast menu for our party of 12, which was very tasty, varied and plenty of it. We had a great time today Awa, thank you and we look forward to a return visit. If you like nice food, nice easy atmosphere and good service then this is a good choice.

A beautiful interior and a lovely venue for a get together but we've had just as good a curry for a much fairer price elsewhere. We were also slightly dismayed with the service, yes they were busy but when one of your party doesn't receive their main course with the others (with quite a delay ) and also when you are told by the female waitress that she only has one pair of hands when you've asked 2 times for extra water for the table, it made the experience disappointing. We expected more for the higher price tag !

The chocolate samosa is exquisite.

Had a really enjoyable meal here - it was great to try some dishes I'd not had before - the Sambar Vada and the Tharavu were exceptional. Huge shout out to the staff, really professional, very attentive and made the experience here 5*

An absolutely fantastic curry and wonderful setting. Bhoomi kitchens reputation is well deserved. The two course menu presents a fantastic mix of options and is extremely well priced. The staff were friendly throughout the evening and really took care of the group.

Me and my wife went to the Bhoomi Kitchen on the 28th October for a Thali lunch for two.The menu is straight forward where you can choose a main dish and you also get 4 little dishes of side accompaniments and a desert.The food was amazing and was nice and freshly cooked and the flavours were amazing.The restaurant its self is nice and has a nice vibe about it.The staff are very friendly and helpful.It was our first time at Bhoomi Kitchen and I have to say we will be definitely back again soon.A top restaurant with amazing tasting food.

Another excellent dinner out at a JM Socials venue. Staff very attentive and professional. Interior decor very stylish. Food was wonderful, the Chocolate Samosa was something else! Will certainly be coming back here in the future.

Lovely ambience and friendly staff. The banquet was amazing. So many different flavours and everything was cooked perfectly. Great to be able to sample lots of dishes. Very refined and well presented and excellent value. We both really enjoyed our meal and will return when in the area again.

When you enter Bhoomi Kitchen you're instantly greeted with a very romantic, welcoming and intimate atmosphere. Not only is the restaurant incredibly clean and well presented, but it also gives a high quality of customer service. The menu is also very clear and concise. There was a mishap with our order which was quickly rectified by our friendly waiter. All that being said, for the mid-high price you pay per person, I wasn't particularly blown away by the food at this establishment. Yes it's well presented, and served with finesse, but ultimately the flavour and depth of taste wasn't anything extraordinary in my experience. As a vegetarian there were also not a ton of main options.

Been there a few times. Food was so so but I try to give independent food outlets more than one chance. The idlis were above average for the UK and the thali had one or two decent dishes. I wanted to bring my kids there and the Maitre D said she would ensure the food could be made less spicy to cater for the little ones if they came. When we turned up with our kids - the Maitre D wasn’t there but they again said food would be made less spicy for the little ones. When the food came it was spicy and fiery as hell. Our kids couldn’t touch the food at all and we told the waiter about this and he just brought the bill. When we complained about the food again on the way out he reluctantly took the kids meals away. I still left a tip. This was many months ago. Went in again today on a Saturday, same Maitre D who was there - reminded her she said she could make the food less spicy and could we get idli with sambar and chutney that has very little spice in it for take away. The previous charm disappeared to one of arrogance and defensiveness - “we can’t make food especially for you when we have done all the prep on Friday” - we were told. Oh so not fresh food at all then and would it kill the staff to make fresh sambar and chutney when the restaurant was completely empty? Unfortunately for the residents of Cheltenham this is all they know as decent Indian food whereas they would be better served to go to London and treat theme selves to a decent Indian meal where the staff fall over themselves to accommodate their customers. BK has had plenty of chances for me and I won’t be going back.

Sitting at the bar. Have had no service for 20 mins after I politely responded to the question “is very thing ok” with the comment that the food is bland, without flavor and spice, and that my dosa was cold. Have now waited another 10 minutes. If you see this review that means another 5 mins passed before I walked out.

My wife and I have been to Bhoomi so many times since opening, that I have lost count over the years. It was therefore our number 1 choice to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Sadly we were massively disappointed. From the chewy (not crunchy) poppadoms to the bland mains (Chilli Chicken and Butter Chicken) we went away wanting what it used to be (epic!). Sadly won't be going back here anytime soon, which was a real shame as it was our favourite.

It was nice but not exceptional. The decor is fantastic and the service and atmosphere is great, the food was average and therfore a little overpriced.

Must say, we, the wife and I were very impressed with the fare and hospitality at the Bhoomi last Sunday 03/08/23. What started initially as a well planned trip to sample their Sunday thali meal offering after reading about a restaurant award they had received recently, we were, instead rerouted to the Keralan Harvest Festival Onam fare, (traditionally celebrated at this time of year back in that South Western corner of India -with some even go as far as to claim Kerala as “God’s Own Country” no less!). We were offered 21 different vegetarian dishes which signify this auspicious festival- each arriving in small boat shaped individual dishes and served on typical South Indian style plates ie banana leaves. There were second helpings of some of the fare, if one wanted some. Being satiated, we had to call a halt to our feasting. Another party who were sat on the other side of the room, were enjoying extra portions with some relish. The staff together with the part owner , Lizzie ( her husband being away at their other facility in Oxford) were very attentive and helpful in typical South Indian fashion. Gave only 3* for atmosphere, owing to just 6 of us at that sitting which somehow diminished what should have been a lively affair. Hopefully, the next time when this event gets further and widespread publicity. Decor was simply outstanding and elegant to add further ambiance to this fine dining place. We will definitely be back! To sample many of their other South Indian dishes- not least the appam ( one of my all time breakfast favourites). If you are looking to tasting proper Indian food (with respect to those who frequent Bangla owned “Indian” outlets), this is a real place to truly discern authentic dishes wonderfully prepared (three Keralan chefs) and served well at Bhoomi. Make a trip. You won’t be disappointed.

What an amazing dinner! Staff were so friendly and polite, very accommodating to vegans. We had the vegan banquet which is not on the menu they adapt it on request. For starter poppadoms with tomato, mango chutney with a chili tomato paste. Next a course of 3 vegan small plates followed by 2 mains plus sides of roti and rice. The aubergine curry was unreal!! I would highly recommend to everyone and anyone! Best dish I have had in a long time! For dessert we shared a banana pancake with vegan ice cream. Such a great place, wish we lived closer because I would defo be coming back again.

In a city filled with Indian food options this place is clearly the best. You will pay a premium price, but the quality of the food is unrivaled. Authentic and incredibly good. I've settled into my favorite combination of items, but honestly everything I've tried has been perfect. I go with the butter chicken, garlic and coriander naan, and pulao rice. Take away is excellent, but dining in is even better. The service staff are friendly and inviting. This may be my favorite restaurant in Cheltenham.

Very disappointed…..Food was not great…. At all … Not like south india taste… it’s not authentic south indian food . Came home I had l Diarrhea, it’s very cheap food . I never try again this restaurant.

If you love Indian food but you don't want the same as you get in every other restaurant then it definitely try this place Indian with a twist not as bigger twist as prithvi but a delicious twist all the same

It was an ok restaurant because I ordered 2 Parottas & beef curry, it wasn’t very Indian though. Beef curry needs to be more Indian. But mango lassi was the best! One of the most friendliest staff!

Ambience is good. Service is really good. Kadai panner which was part of Thali tasted nice, the quantity of rice was less, price is too high for the quantity and all the items are priced high. Very specific dishes for Vegetarians... Coconut chutney was good..This is once in a while restaraunt for the foodies and good eaters, be ready to sacrifice more pounds. If you want to have good ambience and services, definitely this is the one.... Rajesh was friendly and was helpful throughout...

Ate here last night and would highly recommend to anyone in Cheltenham! Brilliant food, amazing decor. Staff very welcoming, manager was particularly charming. Loved the appam, also had great dosas and the tharavu was incredible. Thank you! I hope to be back soon!

This has been one of our favourite and go to restaurants over many years; however, the last 4 times we were slightly disappointed with both the service and the quality of the food. The condiments accompanying the popodams were unimpressive as compared to before, for the mains, the sauce seemed the same on a few of the dishes and not overly warm in temperature. It was just not the taste experience we have previously enjoyed. Still a good restaurant but no longer rushing back.... sorry.

Having visited this restaurant about 4 years ago and having a great meal I was looking forward to returning for a special family meal. I can't believe it's the same place, from start to finish it was genuinely one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. To summarize the evening: 30 mins for a waiter to take a drinks order. 1 hour for first starters to arrive (horrendously dry and tiny portion of chicken - Chicken 65 it's called, 65 must be the age of the chicken). 2 hours after walking in mains finally arrive. All are disappointing. Chicken Korma = Tesco value chicken soup with chicken chunks, Lamb and spinach was worse than dog food. Biryani was embarrassing with a tiny pot of some kind of sauce that no one, including the waiting staff seemed to be able to identify. Desserts (un)fortunately weren't had as we'd already been there for nearly 3 hours and as nice as the decor is I was quite frankly sick of the sight of floundering waiters and overpriced slop being served to tables of disgruntled customers. Then the bill arrives and it tops £400. After some pointing out of all the things we'd complained about, weren't happy with or the complete and utter shambles we'd endured, £80 was taken off. So still a bill of over £300 was left for 5 adults and 2 children. No tip included. In retrospect, we should have walked out after the starters but you live and learn and if this review saves one other diner wasting their well earned money on an experience akin to the worst tourist rip off places in Leicester Square then that's some solace. Cheltenham can do better and does do better, seek out the places worthy of your custom and avoid Bhoomi Kitchen at all costs (and the costs are plenty).

A disappointment date night. Lacklustre curry despite asking for an alternative, we were charged £92.50 for an extremely disappointing evening. Would not recommend. Avoid at all costs.

Very disappointing. At this pricepoint I was expecting something a lot more memorable! You pay £39 per person for a small taster of 3 starters (albeit well cooked) and a main dish of chewy beef and chewy lamb with average rice on the side. There are much better curry houses in Cheltenham for half the price - and with much friendlier service. Won’t return. Shame as the restaurant setting is lovely!

Really delicious and unusual flavours, with exceptional service. I was surprised by how reasonable the food was for someone so unique. Rice pancakes were to die for and lovely cardamom flavoured mango lassi. Overall fantastic experience.

The new menu is very expensive and is completely unsuitable for anyone with a small appetite or eating disorders. We also felt very very pressurised to leave a tip. We had every intention to leave one but the waitress felt she had to remind us 3 times that the price on the bill was without service. We then felt we had no option. Service was very slow

Good food. Slightly disappointed with the food because of the great expectations I had after reading after all the reviews. It was above average but nothing great.

Ordered Thali with meen kari for the main. The fish is quite good (with crispy skin!). Its not bad overall but could be better, particular for the mango lassi - not cold enough. Friendly staff and nice environment.

The interior is splendid and beautiful. Food was made to an excellent standard. Ajay was brilliant with his service from start to finish - a pleasant bloke with great customer service throughout whole dining. Rajesh was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place if south indian food is of interest and you fancy a feast accompanied by world class customer service. Personal favourite was dosa and Gulab Jamun.

I went for a Friday lunch with friends and we chose Bhoomi Kitchen because I had heard good things about their Oxford location. I had the Butter Chicken Thali that made a great lunch. High quality and interesting to boot. Easy to book and friendly helpful staff. A perfect venue.

Great lunch experience. Warm welcome and opportunity to talk about the food and requirements with helpful staff. We chose the thali and were very impressed with the various dishes. Everything was also nicely presented, the environment is relaxing and the music was at just the right level. The quality of the desserts was also outstanding and they were not overly sweet which I particularly appreciated. Shame we live so far away as we would definitely be back soon otherwise.

the service was really bad, they gave you food every 30min so you’d eat a starter and wait for half an hr to get your main dish and it’s not really all the hype the price at the end WAS TREMENDOUSLY large. would not recommend going here at alll!!

This review only applies to my INDIANS bros who are planning to make a stop in Bhoomi. Travelled miles with lads to taste my homeland food after a break. my advice is to fellow Indians don't bother, Waste of time and money. ordered 2 lots of Chicken biryani(£15 each, 2 lots of masala dosha £7 each and 45 minutes wait. Chicken biriyani was nothing more than a bowl of rice mixed with curry and dosha was just basic dosha no crunch or crispiness as you would expect from proper masala dosha. If you’re going to charge someone upmarket price at least make sure taste is worth the money. Lady was on the desk could help with a bit of coaching regarding manners. AKP

We had the most amazing time at Bhoomi Kitchen. A really memorable night! The food was absolutely delicious and a real experience. The cocktails were incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed trying their new inventions. The staff are what truly make this place special, they were so friendly & accommodating. Even when I spilt my drink, they were so quick to act and seamlessly cleared everything away and refreshed my glass. We felt like old friends by the time we left. We will absolutely be back again in the future. Thank you

Just visited bhoomi for early valentines day. We use to really like bhoomi but after today not so much.. they have a new price system. Now 2 course cost 32£ 3 course 35. We use to always go for special beef curry which use to cost around 16£ .. and any starter use to cost around 8£ maximum. Now for the same u have to pay 8 £ more.. and also for example if u want to order a extra starter u can't.. otherwise u wiling to pay 32 £ and be force to order another main if u don't wanna spend 32£ for extra starter. Also wanna add that today beef was good but chewy and hard..

Booked a table recently for my twin daughter’s 16th. I ordered them alcoholic cocktails. However when I ordered for my 17 year son, the waitress asked me for his ID!!!! By law, 16/17 year Olds should be allowed to be served alcohol if accompanied by an adult. My thoughts on this was why allow me to order for my 16 year old twins and not my 17 year old. They didn’t even ask for their ID!! When challenged, their response was that they have the right to refuse any alcohol. To this end when my husband arrived, he ordered alcohol for my son. There was absolutely no need for this waitress to have taken this stance on the situation. Reference to the food, it was pretty average and most of it lacked salt. I have had better curries elsewhere in the West Midlands for a fraction of the price.

We went there for Valentine's day. It's a really nice and welcoming restaurant. The food was amazing and the wine pairing was perfect. Worth going back Went back recently as I was tops it was more of an Indian tapas place. However I wouldn't class it as that. They do small plates for the starters but the mains are standard. But everything is very good. Great decor and great service. I would always say it's worth trying. I would like it if they had more tapas available so you could just order lots of various tapas for a group . Update Decemeber 2021, we have had takeaway from Bhoomi about 4 times over various different lockdowns and we loved it. The butter chicken is my favourite. We decided to go for a Friday lunch and they do a lunchtime special Thali, which is a variety of different flavours in one serving and at a low cost. I loved it! Definitely worth trying. I always try the chicken wings as I like to rank what are the best chicken wings in Cheltenham! The bbq butter chicken wings are outstanding! Also please try the date and almond naan. In my view the best naan ever!

Would give it 3.5 if I could. It wasn’t bad, but we weren’t wowed. The two vegan mains were small for the price, and very similar in flavour. We would’ve appreciate some diversity between them. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Would highly recommend this restaurant. The staff were gentle and attentive and ensured our 8 month old was catered for. We requested vegetables without salt and they went out of their way to accommodate this. The food was delicious, flavourable and the meal we ordered was an easy and fuss free way to sample a variety of what Bhoomi had to offer. The meats melted in the mouth and the flavours were so distinctive that each bite left us commenting on how nice the dishes were. We are looking forward to our next meal there. The only negative was that they was no baby changing facilities.

A little different to most Indian restaurants. Private dining was great, food and service was excellent!
