Spice Dunes in Bath and North East Somerset

Went you Spice Dunes yesterday evening with some friends,the service and food was first class and good size portions,the startes and msain meals cooked perfectly and the taste as good as iv had anywhere,we will be going back .

Very poor service, only had two course meal and took two and half hours to receive our main course. Sat at our table at 7pm and left the restaurant at 10 pm . Worst customer service ever come across in a restaurant

Nice lager kingfisher on tap cobra by the bottle ✅ We had chicken tikka jalfrezi, lamb madras, mushroom rice, onion bhajis, garlic & cheese naan & chips, All in all was a brilliant dinner lovely flavour good service will be back again soon. ✅✅✅✅✅

Whilst having only had a takeaway here, the restaurant seems pleasant enough. I have never had cause for complaint. Good range of food and tastes great. Good value for money, good portions and good service. Perfect for a evening meal without the faff of cooking.

First time we have visited Spice Dunes even though it is only half mile from home, deceiving from outside, it is very stylish inside .The food was delicious, great choice, left feeling very full.

Very disappointed with our takeaway meal this evening. My wife ordered Chicken Rogan Josh and I had Chicken Tikka Masala plus side dishes. The chicken in both dishes was overcooked and chewy plus the whole meal was just warm. We have used the Dunes over many years. but they let themselves down in a big way this evening.

It can hard writing a review as you dont want the place to get to busy but I had no choice as the food is amazing. I asked if certain dishes can be made vegan and they could. Onion Bahji's, vegtable samsoa's were amazing followed by a mutltude of other dishes which vanished of our plates. The poppadoms are addictive and even writing this is making me hungry and I just had dinner.

Been going to this restaurant for many years. It continues to be absolutely superb. Food is freshly cooked and always delicious. The staff are so friendly and helpful at all times. Really enjoy my visits, thank you Spice Dunes.

I've had curries all over the world, from L.A. to Kuala Lumpur, via London and Reykjavik, and this is clearly the best I've had. Unassuming location and decor, and friendly, efficient staff. The menu is interestingly different, offering a good range of specials. Our food arrived promptly and it was clear that it was cooked fresh, with very few pre-made ingredients. The flavours were rich, interesting and had exactly the right level of spice. The meat was superbly tender and the king prawns generously proportioned, not the token gesture one sees so often. Thanks for a great meal. Even though it's a half-hour drive, I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

Recently ordered a takeaway but when got it home a rice dish was missing When called back they delivered straight to my door inc extras for inconvenience Very impressed Five star food too

First time for us, we booked via Meerkat Meals, but found the restaurant do a special anyway which is equally very good value . Great service, great food and a good atmosphere.

This Restaurant packs a serious punch. What a terrific surprise it was to find such great Indian food in Farrington Gurney. Pity they are not down the road here in Australia. Great food and generous portions make this place the place to be in town. The attentive staff are eager to please and do so with their aromatic dishes and colourful food. We ate here on the recommendation of our hosts at The Old Parsonage. Well we were so happy with the meal we would have eaten here again but pity only the next day we were many miles away on our English driving holiday. We hope to return one day. Meanwhile, I hope other people can enjoy the food in our absence. Highly recommend this Restaurant.

We turned up at 6.45 on a Tuesday night without a reservation to find that they were fully booked from 7.30. We begged them to give us a table and promised to eat and run and the host, Roman, gracefully agreed. And it was absolutely delicious. We are vegetarian and everything was divine. The chutneys and popadoms, the onion bajias and for mains vegetable Dupiaza and vegetable Danchak with Pilau rice. Best Indian meal for years. Will definitely go back next time we are here. Well done guys.

These guys usually deliver top quality food. Recently I have found the Tikka marinated Chicken and lamb to be a bit tough, so I started ordering the plain ( not tikka ) version. I just got a Chicken Madras, and have left half as the chicken was so tough. So disappointing :-(

It’s been around two years since I last had food from here. This was my late wife’s favourite place to eat and I had not been here without her I must admit that this is as good as it gets if you like a good curry . The service and welcome along with the fantastic food offering is second to none

Down from Nottingham on holiday in Litton. We were recommended the Spice Dunes and weren't disappointed. The restaurant went the extra mile to get our meal to us and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend. Very happy customers 🙂

Reading other reviews I guess I must have too many expectations when I eat out. The Staff were not particularly welcoming and there was no interaction at all. THE MEAL...the Starter was tasteless and just about warm. The Main Course was also so bland and...

This is our local Indian and we have always loved it, in fact it is Mums choice every Mother’s Day. Unfortunately this Mother’s Day Coronavirus was around and we could not go, however I rang and asked for delivery something they don’t normally do. But they were more than happy to deliver after I explained we are in self isolation and not far from the restaurant. Our order was delivered quickly and safely. They wore gloves and placed it in front our door and rang me to let me know it was here and as always it was delicious. Thank you for allowing us to carry on our Mothers Day tradition and we are glad we could support our locals in such crazy times.

We’ve eaten here a number of times and the food has been good. However this evening we had a take away. We were extremely disappointed in the meal and ended up throwing most of it in the bin. The amount of salt was just incredible. 30 mins after eating some of it and I’ve got a splitting headache. It’s was just inedible. So disappointing.

Great local Indian restaurant with a wider than usual choice of dishes, expertly prepared. Great staff. They don’t use ghee, so the dishes are lighter and don’t produce an unpleasant aftertaste that can come with some Indian food. We’re regulars here and highly recommend the place

This is by far our favourite Indian in the area. We visited on valentines and had a lovely evening. The staff here are so welcoming and attentive. The menu has recently been updated and we tried some of the new dishes, which were very tasty. All in all a lovely evening with amazing food. This place is highly recommend.

We had not made a reservation but we were able to secure a table for 2 just before Christmas (23rd December). We needed a bit of space ce before the 2 weeks of Turkey Roast “Bland” period.

One of our regular go to’s for both eating in and takeaways. Just a little pricier than the average Indian restaurant, but not prohibitively so. Good choice of food, and the price reflects the quality.

Group of us really enjoyed our evening meal, we were well looked after and the curry was absolutely delicious. Poppadoms & chutney were fine, you do have to pay a small charge for the chutney tray which is a little unusual. Shame this restaurant is rather a journey for us, however, shall be looking to visit again as the food is so good.

Spice Dunes is by far the best Indian takeaway/restaurant in the area. The curries have a lot of flavour. The staff are friendly and helpful. I always have a pleasant experience and nothing compares.

A great restaurant tucked away in Farrington Gurney. The service was excellent with some of the friendliest staff you could hope to meet. Excellent food with a good number of choices.

We have been meaning to try this restaurant which used to be my husband’s local pub, born and bred in Farrington Gurney. We booked on a Saturday evening for our anniversary meal.

We've been an occasional tale-out customer for quite some time, more recently the food hasn't been so good. Hard to put my finger on the problem but it's certainly less enjoyable. Meat quality seems to have suffered, last visit the chicken tasted cheap and was a little off-putting.

A large loud and demanding group, we were made to feel at home and whilst the food did take longer than expected, the waiters met our demands for beer without delay. An accidental spill of beer was met with significant embarrassment from the staff, and a little humour from others in our group. Whilst they could have been more apologetic to the individual in question, I feel his rating did not reflect the consensus of our group. Great night out, but agree there is some room for improvement.

Something has changed at the Spice Dunes and the dishes are nowhere as good as they have been. Too many dishes tasted similar and sadly rather bland.

Myself and my friends were very impressed with the prompt service and quality of the food , the staff are very polite and make you welcome, every dish we had was first class. We will be returning very soon.

Good basic menu but with house specials too. We deliberately chose well known dishes so we could test the kitchen skills as we have recently moved to the area & are finding the local restaurants largely disappointing. We were not disappointed here. Chicken Tikka starter was one of the best I have ever had - really lovely & moist. Papadoms were light and crispy as they should be & the pickle tray had a really good line pickle. Main courses were all good - very generous portions too. Food & staff were very good - only downside was restaurant was a little chilly. We will certainly be back!

Having moved to nearby Camerton a few months ago I have been looking for a local Indian restaurant for eat in and takeaway and my search has now ended! So much better than some other local options, and only just over 5 mins from my house!

We order a take away on just eat for collection, it was ready in 30 minutes and it was amazing!

I've been visiting here while working nearby for the last 8 weeks. I Always look forward to the meal here. Always perfect. I live in Leicester and these guys are better than home in my opinion. It's my last week here, I'll really miss the place!!

The best chicken Dansak I have ever had!! The staff were really friendly and the service was excellent. Reasonably priced and looks very clean welcoming.

Called in on a Tuesday evening, as an avid curry lover I was skeptical to try somewhere new, but I went with it, staff were very welcoming, we were walked to our table with an up market service that I’ve not had in an Indian outside of our capital. We were asked for drinks, which arrived quickly, my pint was crisp and cold and my wife’s G&T; served more stylish that your standard half pint pub glass! The smell of the place got me first, WOW, But...... upon reading the menu the amazingly priced Tuesday deal got me excited. We order our food, and my starter arrived wrong, (not that it mattered, it was incredible) I mentioned this to the waiter who was so apologetic, he got my original choice to be made, and insisted on us eating the mistake!! It was a shame to eat them, they were so well presented on the plate, like art. Our mains then arrived a perfect amount of time after our starters, we didn’t feel rushed at all, and again, it was all stunning to look at, and didn’t they taste sooooo good too. Now both absolutely full to the brim we asked for the bill, even that arrived impeccably presented, and was not to be sniffed at, less than £30 for a mountain of food. Any hesitations I felt in the beginning were now gone, we were so impressed we took some friends on the Saturday night, somewhere has to be very good for my wife and I to visit twice in a week! Stopping here was one of the best spur of the moment decisions we ever made, and still don’t have Indian from anywhere else.

The only good thing about this restaurant is the food, which to be fair was lovely.

Visited here when visiting family in the area. The first thing I noticed when we walked in that they were flies buzzing about.We were taken to our table and after a few minutes we ordered our drinks and we were offered poppadoms, which we accepted. I noticed that it was 55 minutes later that we still hadn't been brought our starters but as we were all chatting it didn't matter too much. The food was very nice and none of us suffered any ill effects from the flies but they were annoying.

Spice Dunes restaurant had a good selection of food and drink for very reasonable prices. The staff were also very friendly.

Went to this restaurant on Monday evening. Quite busy with takeaways and set down guests. Very warm evening, so lots of flies buzzing about the service was slow we arrived about 7o'clock didn't leave till after 10o'clock. . Curry ok , nothing to write home about. Next day ok, but a few tummy pains, by the afternoon in terrible pain, was sick and running to the loo. I like curries, I'm from bradford. Will never set foot in this restaurant ever again.

I'm not from this area and came here on a recommendation from a local.

We had a takeaway last night, phoned the order and picked up half hour later. It was really busy but the order was on time. The food was still piping hot after a 10 minute drive and was delicious. The chicken was devine , I had a patia which is my usual with a peshwari naan. 10 out of 10 for food and service.

Eaten here many times over the past few years. Always good. Lovely fresh salads and Nan breads. Glorious curries. Great wines. Tuesdays is special offer night. Starter, main course plus a rice or Nan bread all for £10.90. Excellent value. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Don’t know what’s happened to this restaurant. It is our local Indian takeaway and we were delighted to find it when we moved in as the food was delicious. The last few times we’ve had takeaway it’s been terrible, with this evening being the worst. Completely flavourless apart from chilli. So much so one fish was inedible. The other was slightly better but as it was milder chilli was replaced with salt. We won’t be going again.

We have a 3 week old baby that needs feeding regularly....at th3 momment we eat in between his feeds and changes!

We chose this restaurant because it was more or less equidistant from our house and our daughter's new home in Frome. We'll be back! There is a kind of homogeneity about Indian restaurant food, but not here. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but the dishes we commonly eat in most establishments were just a little cut above the normal here. And there was a good choice of wines and very good service. Book in advance - it's popular!

Four of us had a table, and for me I had the best Biryiani I’ve had for many a year. I chose the ‘House Special Mixed’ and it was cooked to perfection. I couldn’t fault the comfort, surroundings, service or food, and they deserve the ‘Excellent’ mark I’ve given them.

I went in quite late at the weekend to see if I could get a take away for three. There were no customers and the staff were busy clearing up. The waiter said 'absolutely no problem' and they cooked the order immediately. We all agreed that all of the dishes were delicious, perfectly cooked and piping hot. I was on a workshop in the area and went into Spice Dunes on a Tuesday ,which is the night where you get a starter,main course and bread/rice for around £10.50. The Chicken tikka starter was perfect. Succulent and really flavoursome. Excellent. There are comments...

Fresh ingredients and well presented dishes. Welcoming and attentive staff. Relaxed atmosphere. We would eat here again.

After hearing mixed opinions about this place, we decided to give it a go and we're pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty, spicy (though not over spiced) and substantial. I also noticed on the menu that they don't use ghee in any of their cooking, opting for lighter oils, making the food healthier. At first I thought it may effect the taste of the food. Thankfully, if it did at all, it was for the better. I'm 100% certain we'll be back.

This was a family outing with in laws who live near the restaurant, visit regularly, and recommend. The usual friendly Indian welcome, with reasonably prompt service, good food, and fair value. Adequate parking. Another good Indian restaurant.

We have been living in the local area for about a year now and we keep saying "we must try Spice Dunes". Well, we eventually did, this past Saturday evening and we were not dissapointed.The food was fresh and spiced perfectly, and the portions were great! The service was also second to none and everyone was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was fairly quiet when we first arrived but it filled up throughout the evening and the takeaway had a constant queue so it must have a great reputation locally!We will be back!

This is the second time I have ordered takeaway from Sand Dunes and both times the food has been stunning - the Chana Masala and Dhal are particularly good. To top it all off the staff are lovely. If you want a decent curry then head here.

I'd forgotten how enjoyable a meal in a nice Indian restaurant can be, the starters to share the various dips the lovely crisp popadoms, then the main course, the chicken I had in the spices was just beautiful

I had the tikka mix for starters and the chicken shashlik for my main. Food was tasty and staff were friendly.

We at here at the recommendation of the hosts at the Bed and Breakfast we were staying at. Good food. My Gluten Free friend was able to eat here without problem. There was only a few things he had to avoid (like nans) but the staff was very helpful at making suggestions.

Worth the wait,as when we arrived the place was very busy.good value for money, great curries but we we given some sauces with pappadums that we did not order!

Always an excellent time at Spice Dunes. My partner and I come here for date nights, family outings with our 15 year old boys, and I always try to take clients and colleagues here if they stay local. Fantastic food, and the guys that work here are amazing. I work all over the world and eat at some of the best restaurants with money being no object - when clients are paying! I honestly believe Spice Dunes is definitely up there with tasty fresh food and an amazing welcome.

Had the usual indian, but the food was far from impressive. We've had better Indian meals at home. Really not worth the visit.

As I reviewed spice dunes back in may I thought I'd give a more up to date review, we have been most weeks since may and tried lots of different curries in thestyle that we like I.e. not too hot but spicey for me and hotter for my partner, well we haven't once been disappointed, portion size good, everything is beautifully fresh &cooked to perfection, cant fault.All the staff are very friendly & attentive but not over the top.prices are reasonable also.went to our local indian last week & realised how spoilt we've been at spice dune!(we travel 9miles each way to go there)

We regularly get a take-away from spice dunes have have been ordering half size portions for years. Usually full of sauce, really nice but not over-filling like the full size portions. Got home with the two half size portions tonight (in smaller trays) like usual, took lid off to see one was 3/4 full the other about 1/4 full. Called to complain (thinking they'd just say come back we'll give you some more sauce (there were 4 pieces of chicken) but instead had argument about the fact they don't really do half size portions, and that apparently if you put them together in one pot then it would fill a normal portion size (don't think it would have). Then told I could have a refund as other people are happy with them. Fortunately the service in Shapla was exemplary and he made me a smaller portion, was really helpful, he could see I was quite stressed and frustrated and gave me 2 free poppadoms!

Been here on a few occasions now and I love it, food was beautiful , staff friendly, there was a slight problem with my husbands order but they corrected it immediately and even deducted of the bill! Will defo be coming back very soon :)
