Sunil is a top-class chef. The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavour – you could tell it was made with real care. He was so attentive to what we liked and tailored everything perfectly to our tastes. It wasn’t just a meal – it felt like he cooked from the heart, and we felt that in every bite. Big thanks to Raj, the manager, who really took the time to hear us out. He gave clear guidance to the team, and you could see his passion for good food and great service shine through. Everything flowed smoothly because of that. And I’ve got to give a special mention to Pallavi – an amazing waitress who made sure we were looked after the whole way through. Delicious! We opted for a few small plates, a curry each and a couple of cocktails, and it was all excellent - all topped off with lovely service and the sound of live jazz (a regular Thursday evening event). Highly recommend.

Top quality Indian restaurant in Bath

The food was not authentic taste. The lucknow biryani was not at all tasty. Can do better with Chicken kebabs. The food is pricey and over and above that they add service charge extra which I was not aware of. Had a bill of 82 and 10 pound more for service charge. WHY?

Heaven for vegetarians and Jains! Would recommend this place as the food tastes like home — pure Indian soul food! Recommended- bandook chaat, soya chaap, rumali roti, kurkuri bhindi, kathal veg biriyani, pav bhaji.

We went for dinner on a Friday night after reading reviews about the good food here and we not disappointed! Everything we chose was from the starter/ small dishes sections of the menu as it all sounded so delicious we couldn’t decide what to have and didn’t want to give anything up for a curry main dish - so we shall have to come back! The food was exceptional, some familiar flavour combinations and others new and exciting to try (Bombay Prawns was our favourite dish) The staff were kind and welcoming, the decor is lovely with family photographs at the entrance and we had a lovely chat with the owner right at the end of the meal. Our only observation was that the food came out so quickly that we were finished within 30mins of arriving! (We were also obviously hungry!) This is excellent if you want to head on somewhere else afterwards but we were there for our evening - they were great at holding back our dessert for 15-20mins so if you are going there for a slower evening, I would mention this at the start.

It was our first visit to Bath with family and at Bandook we got the best Food we ever eat in UK ,Authentic Indian taste with great hospitality, icing on cake was personal hospitality and care by chef Sunil Ji from Uttrakhand...definitely will visit again..

Given its reviews, I am not sure how useful Google's request for a review is but it really is as good as the ratings say. In a time of dodgy AI fake reviews this comes from a regular customer who has eaten there to meet up with one friend or several all the way through to family birthday meals. What to say? The food is great and the menu is a world away from the average "curry house" (as good as they can undoubtedly be). Rather than recommend anything, I would urge you to be adventurous and try the things that catch your eye. Service is great and the atmosphere is lovely and chilled, generated by the hubbub of conversation and folks who know what they are doing. The Bandook team's only problem is keeping up their reputation, which I imagine is a good problem to have. Thoroughly recommended.

My husband and I including our both sons had lunch at Bandook today. We didn’t book a table, but we were welcomed with ‘open’ arms. All staff were so friendly, they made us feel so comfortable and made sure our sons were happy with the food choices. The food was very delicious, the service was perfect. Bandook Bath seriously delivered — from the vibe to the food, everything hit the spot. Shoutout to Yuvraj, who helped us order like pros. His recommendations? Spot. On. We had the lamb chops (juicy, perfectly spiced) and biryani (full of flavour and absolutely banging). The real MVPs? Chicken 65 and paneer chilli — bold, fiery, and totally addictive. We’re still thinking about them. And of course, big respect to Moe, the genius behind it all. The place has a great energy — welcoming, cool, and effortlessly impressive. If you’re in Bath and want food that delivers on taste and vibe, Bandook’s the one. We’ll definitely be back!

The food was overcooked. The concept is great and it's sister restaurant The Mint Room is one of the best in Bath. I'll try it again but I was not impressed.

I’m often asked where the best Indian food is in Bath. One word: Bandook. Have been coming here for a few years now so this isn’t based on a single visit. Every time I have been (from being 2-7x diners): - the staff have been incredibly welcoming, professional and knowledgeable about the menus - the attentiveness is second to none (staff are vigilant and will notice you finishing your drink or running out of rice/naan etc - they’re not sat on their phones/chatting in a corner like many other restos!) - it always seems to be busy/have a good buzz (even midweek) - for a reason! - the food is ALWAYS top notch (I always want to try new mains but always revert back to the lamb biryani because it’s just so good!) so end up sharing another to try new dishes 🤭 Make sure you visit this place when you’re in Bath, and book ahead (especially Thurs-Sat) to avoid disappointment!

All the food was excellent. One item I must highlight is the Samosa Chaat. This was the best samosa dish I’ve ever had!

We ordered the Railway Lamb Curry and the Butter Chicken – and both were outstanding. The Railway Lamb was rich, tender, and deeply spiced with that perfect slow-cooked depth of flavor. The Butter Chicken was creamy, comforting, and full of that signature smoky sweetness – easily one of the best we’ve had. The rice was fresh and fluffy, and everything arrived beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere had a lively, modern twist that made the evening feel special. If you’re in Bath and love Indian food, Bandook is an absolute must. We'll definitely be back!

We have visited this restaurant several times; the ambience, food and service has been brilliant. The staff are friendly. My family enjoyed the Grandma's chicken curry lovely homemade taste 😋. Recommended to eat !! And, don't forget to drink mango lassi.

As a Mosque based in Bath, we had the privilege of working with Bandook for an entire month, relying on them to provide hot meals five days a week for over 100 people a day — and they delivered beyond expectations. This is my personal review as a Trustee at Bath Mosque. The food was consistently on time, generous in portion, and absolutely delicious. The daily dishes provided were varied, from beautifully spiced biryanis to rich, flavourful curries. The quality never dropped — every meal was cooked to perfection with clear care and attention to detail. We were especially touched by the dedication of the kitchen staff. The chefs we collected the food from were not only skilled but truly inspiring in their work ethic. We would often see them preparing meals from the day before to ensure everything was ready for us when we came to pick it up. Their warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on our team. We have contacted Bandook for multiple events and they have been fantastic. Exceeded expectation in every sense. The owner has been incredible when dealing with our society (from the University of Bath). Extremely quick replies, sorts everything out instantly, and helps in any way he can. Now, the food, absolutely delicious. Big portions. The flavours are perfectly balanced. Just excellent. Thank you very much Bandook! We will definitely be in touch again :)

The opening times are incorrect as seen in the picture. I called up the restaurant to enquire the opening times and was told that it was open from 10am, however when I got there at 10:15am it was closed, despite the leaflet on the window saying “breakfast from 8am to 11am Monday to Sunday”.

The reason why i have 4 stars is because they always charge you 5£ extra in the bill mentioning it as service charge, i would have this this 5£ as tip for them instead of having to pay it as a part of bill😊, other than this everything was very good, especially the friendly staff and the indian atmosphere.....only thing I'll recommend is they should give enough quantity of food.....they should improve the quantity as the meals, the biriyani bowl was a bit small

My son asked to go here for his birthday and it was fantastic. The food was all excellent as was the service. The staff were very friendly and even brought my son a birthday dessert and sung Happy birthday to him which made the evening. Excellent highly recommend.

I been with my partner in lunch time because for long time we want to try this restauran, we love Bath and Indian food, our surpise was excelent, the food is superb and not expensive, the staff absolutelly brillian, the list menu very good detailed, for me it is brillian because I have so menu food alergies, we back to home very happy because we have amazing day, thank you Bandook.

We were wandering along the street looking for some lovely food, when we found our way along this passage and we were hit by this hypnotic aroma, so we followed our noses and found ourselves here on a busy Sunday afternoon. A lovely lady greeted us and got us comfortable straight away. Oh my goodness this has been the best curry bowl that I have ever had! We had a Tiger Prawn curry bowl and the railways lamb curry bowl. The flavours were incredible, we had naan breads light as clouds, rice, gunpowder fries and a spinach side which was delicious coupled with such warm service. We even had wine and desserts.. sooo good.

The food at Bandook is delicious. They use a standard spice level. This is great because you can request milder or hotter dishes based on personal preference. There are various choices for vegetarian coeliacs. This is so good to see as many restaurants offer very limited options. The staff offered great advice to help inform our order. Thank you!

Really overpriced and the food was mid, as an Indian who's eaten in many Indian restaurants in the UK, there is much nicer stuff out there for way cheaper. It's like the restaurants over decoration is trying to distract you from how bad the food is

Went to this place on rainy day in Bath. Fully drenched, me and my friends ordered some starters and drinks first. My 4 friends and me had vada pav, keema pav, prawns koliwada, jackfruit biryani, and more. The staff was really polite and guided us through the menu and food recommendations. Overall we had a good time there. I would recommend people visiting or staying in Bath to visit this place for a distinguished dining experience.

We have dined at Bandook 3 times when visiting Bath now and this is by far an incredible dining experience. We decided to host a pre wedding meal for 26 people the manager was very helpful in organising this and accommodating to the kids and veggies in the group. On the night the staff were brilliant and very approachable and we were greeted by the owner too who showed took great interest in us. We actually decided to dine there again after our wedding as we fancied some fish and lamb chops and again the team were so happy to see us and we had another great meal this time trying some some small plates too - I very impressed with the fried bindi and pakora bites which we decided to experiment with alongside the meat dishes. The set menu for the group booking was more curry based (butter chicken and lamb curry). We dine alot in London so to taste curries better than some places at home was good, will defo visit Bandook again on the next trip.

The restaurant fancies itself as a fine dining establishment. The wait staff are lovely and attentive. What lets this restaurant down is the rude front of house manager lady and the extortionate prices. The lamb chop starter I ordered cost £13 contained 2 very thin lamb chops that were tough and overcooked. The portions were small and we left feeling hungry, despite spending over £75 on just food.

We came all the way from Scotland, and chose Bandook to spend my birthday eve and we were extremely happy about everything there. Drinks- very original and creative and hit you right on spot Starters- we ordered 5 small plates and ate every bit of it. Mine two absolute favourites were pav bhaji and bandook chaat, reminded me of home. Main course was great as well Their service and friendly staff is cherry on cake. A special shout out to Afsana and shirju. They also surprised me with a complimentary mango cheesecake, which we devoured all. I could eat one more portion of that. Manager and chef both were kind enough to take out time to speak with us. He even cared to serve us birthday shots. Overall great experience, would recommend any time. Great work team!

There is no point of charging "service charges" of £6 something. Food taste was good and in good quantity. "Sides" are extremely expensive for eg pakoras are 7 pounds a plate. Absolutely no value for money for the sides exclusively. Servers were very nice people

An exceptional Indian restaurant. We've never tried this style of Indian food before and after our visit here we'll be looking for restaurant's like this when we return home from our holiday.

Came here for a 3-year anniversary, the service was incredible. Two ladies and a gentleman served us and were very helpful, gave great recommendations and food was the best I’ve had in bath. Lamb railway curry was incredible.

Went there last night following a local recommendation. Had the broccoli, chops, paratha, prawns for small plates and half a roast chicken under the large plates with a raspberry gin cocktail and a vanilla vodka cocktail. This was probably one of the best meals I have tasted in a while and was so happy to have gone. If I am back in Bath I will be back. Definitely worth the effort locating this place.

Absolute gem of a place. Incredible value for their lunch menu - £15 for pilau rice, lamb/chicken curry and either samosa chaat or kale pakora chaat. At that price its easily the best value for money Indian I have ever had and third best curry i have ever had in the uk (including Gibraltar which has my number 1) All of it was cooked to perfection and the kale pakora chaat in particular was on another level. My partner is gluten free and the only issue she had with the gluten free options was the excessive choice! Barely anything contained gluten which was pleasing to see (my mum is also a coeliac and i’ll be bringing her!) Staff were attentive and friendly and even when we payed and were just finishing our drinks, they gave us a complementary cup of tea 👍

Bandook has some really delicious food (especially the pani puri and the chaats) and is a very well designed restaurant with a gold atmosphere. We have, however, found the staff to be a little abrupt which can come across as rude. We will, however, keep returning because the street-food style small plates are extensive tasty and they have a fantastic range of vegetarian options. This is not the place to go if you are looking for a big curry, rice and a naan, but deffo give it a go if you are up for sharing small plates and trying new delicious food!

What an incredible experience dining here. Came here on Saturday afternoon and there's not many customers at that time. We were greeted by Moe the manager, and he was really friendly, polite and attentive. He confirmed that the chicken and lamb were halal. The waitress that took our order was well versed with the menu options, and gave great suggestions to choose from. We ordered Railway Lamb Curry and Old New Delhi Butter Chicken, plus Steamed Rice and Garlic Naan to add on. They're absolute perfection! The lamb was really tender and doesn't have a strong smell. Ultimately before we left, Moe kindly let us taste the Indian Cheesecake, which was super delicious too. This restaurant is highly recommended. I would love to come again and try different dishes from the menu.

Went here for my graduation dinner and the staff were so friendly, they were very nice , the food was decent- maybe not the best Indian food I’ve had 😅( the dhal and butter chicken was a bit disappointing for me) but the chicken wings 😋, and prawn starters were so so good. The passion fruit mojito was very very good as well- the best one I’ve had yet. Honestly an amazing experience all over ☺️ and also a very good price point. My family was very satisfied and very happy so thank you Bandook☺️

Don't fall for the reviews the biryani tastes so bad and dry the gravy was barely passable as gravy they were bland and oily.

A local recommended this restaurant. I had never seen a menu like Bandook’s so I asked for guidance from our server. She was exceptionally helpful so we went with her suggestions. The food is nothing short of fantastic!! Fresh, flavourful and subtly spiced. We were so impressed with the food and friendly staff, we returned with friends two days later. We Came across Bandook whilst out walking and searching for a eatery Although we hadn’t booked we were offered a table after a five to ten minutes wait Welcoming friendly staff Happy to give us recommendation’s from the menu We had a small plate deep fried cauliflower to start , 1 large plate one bowl and a naan and some rice super tasty and fragrant so good we ordered another bowl dish Comfortable great atmosphere very happy to recommend but would suggest booking in advance Bill for three with a couple of drinks just over £80 with a service charge pre added .

The best Indian I've ever had in the UK if not ever! Amazing, authentic Indian street food. Staff were so polite and friendly. Highly, highly recommend. Best meal I've had in a long time. Lamb biryani was so tender and garlic naans were so fresh.

Lovely tasty meals that you can ask for to be tailored to the spice you need. Chicken wings and squid were amazing. Curry choice seemed limited but grandmas was very nice with the extra green chilli kick, and there was plenty in the bowl. My vegetarian and gluten free friends were very impressed with their options. Only slight disappointment was the soggy biscuit they put into my small £11 martini meaning i couldn’t drink much as there was gross wet biscuit floating in half of it and also once we finished dinner and were waiting for desert, the staff were all chatting and non attentive and in the end, after a long wait, we had to ask to get someones attention to order. All in all, I recommend this to friends and colleagues bar the martini and hopefully table service is a little more planned/frequent after menus are dropped off.

What an incredible experience. The service was amazing and it was my first time eating Indian food. It’s incredibly tasty. I recommend the chicken curry. They prepared for me an extra mild one which still has a little kick to it, but was delicious.

Spent Christmas Eve here as a family of 5. The food was delicious, service friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was perfect. Great decor and very comfortable. Highly recommend if GF and DF too.
