Bandook Kitchen in Bath and North East Somerset

What an incredible experience dining here. Came here on Saturday afternoon and there's not many customers at that time. We were greeted by Moe the manager, and he was really friendly, polite and attentive. He confirmed that the chicken and lamb were halal. The waitress that took our order was well versed with the menu options, and gave great suggestions to choose from. We ordered Railway Lamb Curry and Old New Delhi Butter Chicken, plus Steamed Rice and Garlic Naan to add on. They're absolute perfection! The lamb was really tender and doesn't have a strong smell. Ultimately before we left, Moe kindly let us taste the Indian Cheesecake, which was super delicious too. This restaurant is highly recommended. I would love to come again and try different dishes from the menu.

Went here for my graduation dinner and the staff were so friendly, they were very nice , the food was decent- maybe not the best Indian food I’ve had 😅( the dhal and butter chicken was a bit disappointing for me) but the chicken wings 😋, and prawn starters were so so good. The passion fruit mojito was very very good as well- the best one I’ve had yet. Honestly an amazing experience all over ☺️ and also a very good price point. My family was very satisfied and very happy so thank you Bandook☺️

Don't fall for the reviews the biryani tastes so bad and dry the gravy was barely passable as gravy they were bland and oily.

A local recommended this restaurant. I had never seen a menu like Bandook’s so I asked for guidance from our server. She was exceptionally helpful so we went with her suggestions. The food is nothing short of fantastic!! Fresh, flavourful and subtly spiced. We were so impressed with the food and friendly staff, we returned with friends two days later. This place is a real treasure.

lamb was well cooked, all the food was great! a bit on the expensive side (the only draught beer Cobra was £7 a pint) but don’t mind paying for quality food. The chilli paneer was also a winner, would definitely recommend to others! thanks!

A lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere, all the staff are knowledgable about the menu and extremely friendly. Would highly recommend the kerala chicken 65 and butter chicken, the flavours are incredible and very generous portions for the price! Will definitely be back soon

Lovely tasting food and really nice ambience, but the portions were too small. The service was really slow. To be fair they did have a staff shortage that night and Gabe us a free desert.

The best Indian I've ever had in the UK if not ever! Amazing, authentic Indian street food. Staff were so polite and friendly. Highly, highly recommend. Best meal I've had in a long time. Lamb biryani was so tender and garlic naans were so fresh.

Bandook has some really delicious food (especially the pani puri and the chaats) and is a very well designed restaurant with a gold atmosphere. We have, however, found the staff to be a little abrupt which can come across as rude. We will, however, keep returning because the street-food style small plates are extensive tasty and they have a fantastic range of vegetarian options. This is not the place to go if you are looking for a big curry, rice and a naan, but deffo give it a go if you are up for sharing small plates and trying new delicious food!

We were in Bath for the Rugby so the City was very busy . We Came across Bandook whilst out walking and searching for a eatery Although we hadn’t booked we were offered a table after a five to ten minutes wait Welcoming friendly staff Happy to give us recommendation’s from the menu We had a small plate deep fried cauliflower to start , 1 large plate one bowl and a naan and some rice super tasty and fragrant so good we ordered another bowl dish Comfortable great atmosphere very happy to recommend but would suggest booking in advance Bill for three with a couple of drinks just over £80 with a service charge pre added .

Lovely tasty meals that you can ask for to be tailored to the spice you need. Chicken wings and squid were amazing. Curry choice seemed limited but grandmas was very nice with the extra green chilli kick, and there was plenty in the bowl. My vegetarian and gluten free friends were very impressed with their options. Only slight disappointment was the soggy biscuit they put into my small £11 martini meaning i couldn’t drink much as there was gross wet biscuit floating in half of it and also once we finished dinner and were waiting for desert, the staff were all chatting and non attentive and in the end, after a long wait, we had to ask to get someones attention to order. All in all, I recommend this to friends and colleagues bar the martini and hopefully table service is a little more planned/frequent after menus are dropped off.

What an incredible experience. The service was amazing and it was my first time eating Indian food. It’s incredibly tasty. I recommend the chicken curry. They prepared for me an extra mild one which still has a little kick to it, but was delicious.

Great pre Christmas night away in Bath, we had a night at the Double Tree Hilton just a very short walk to Bandook, a restaurant we love! Had a lovely meal to the accompaniment of s Jazz band which was so good we went back for breakfast! Which was equally good, when we had a spicy Egg Paratha, green tea with Almond and Cardamom cake, which my wife loved!!

Without doubt the best Indian food we have ever had. We had two starters, three small plates and a main between us with a small pot of rice and a divine naan. More than enough to be honest but there was none left! Service great- almost too quick so needed to ask for a rest before the main- atmosphere excellent. Superb!

Our family had gone for lunch at Bandook and we had a great time! This is one of the best places where we have had Indian food here in the UK! The service was top notch and the ambience was beautiful! We were served with utmost warmth and we will definitely be revisiting Bandook for another memorable meal!

Delicious South Indian flavors! The uttapam was perfectly crispy, the masala chai was rich and fragrant, and the cake was a delightful surprise. Great service and cozy ambiance. Highly recommend!

Came to Bath for the weekend ended up stumbling upon this restaurant was super busy. However, the manager Moe who was excellent managed to give us a table. The service was very fast and incredibly welcoming. The food was mouthwatering, would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Lovely staff, very helpful and friendly. A bit different to the normal Rogan and Dhansak dishes I usually aim for, but the flavours and variety of dishes were amazing! Would recommend trying a number of the ‘small plates’, then mixing/sharing them. The Railway Lamb Curry certainly went down very well with me!

Came to Bath to sight see for the day and stumbled along Bandook! It was lovely and warm inside and the food was incredible! Raj served us and he was absolutely brilliant! 10/10 would recommend!!

This was truly a wonderful experience! The staff were super friendly and helpful with us deciding what to eat. We chose to share 5 small plates between 2 of us, and they did not disappoint! The Tandoori Broccoli was absolutely delicious, along with the Paneer Tikka. So tasty with every mouthful! I also had a Christmas special cocktail : Drunken Mango Lassi… it was a taste sensation and went perfectly with our meal. It should be a permanent cocktail on the menu!

Good food is essential in a restaurant, and finding a good Indian restaurant isn't easy. So many serve a brown mush on a bed of rice. It could be anything. The food here was very well presented and in addition, smelled and tasted great. Atmosphere is another quality that some miss out on, but here it's good. Eating an Indian meal at miiday is not everybody's idea of lunch. When those of who do find a decent restaurant, it's nice to have other people around. Popularity is also a pretty good measure of the quality. We'll be back

Munch was excellent!! Raj was a charming host and gave me an all round experience. He gave us a free lamb sauce and explained why it goes so well with naan bread.

Easily on a par with some of the best food I've had in India and definitely the best I've had the in the UK. The Punjabi Lamb Chops in particular were absolute perfection; I would happily have eaten a whole platter of them and still craved more. My only complaint was that everything on the menu sounded delicious and so making a decision as to what to order was extremely challenging. Service was spot on and the price was very fair considering the quality of the food. If I lived in Bath I'd be eating at Bandook at every possible opportunity!

I took my cousin, who was visiting from Singapore, to Bandook tonight - and we had an exceptional experience. The ambiance was fantastic, with a live band playing jazz, creating the perfect atmosphere. As always, the service was attentive and the food was outstanding. My cousin isn’t usually a fan of spicy dishes and doesn’t often eat Indian cuisine, but he mentioned that Bandook completely changed his mind. The menu caters to a variety of tastes, and every dish was incredibly flavorful. Bandook is a must-visit for anyone coming to Bath. Our favorites included the lamb chops, Bombay prawns, chili paneer, and lamb biryani. Thank you for a memorable evening!

Muy buen servicio y buena comida. Tuvimos un problema con el pago, pero lo solucionaron y no se frustraron ni se enojaron, aunque tenían todo el derecho a hacerlo. Si vuelvo Bath de nuevo sin duda volvería y recomendaría este lugar si te encanta la comida india.

Walked in for dinner with out a reservation. Restaurant very busy but only had to wait for a few minutes for a table. Food was amazing. As we're the cocktails. And the staff. Had a great meal here. Would recommend

Visited this place at Bath. They poured us water and from the bottle appeared a fly in the glass. The waiter just took the glass away and got a new one and continued pouring from the same bottle that had a fly in it. Very average food, cocktails were below average. The Ramos Gin Fizz was subpar, they had a paan flavoured cocktail which was decent.

A "Thumbs Up" from me. Indian Sodas - Thumbs Up and Limca Their is only a subtle difference between these drinks and their western counterparts (coke and lemonade). Thumbs Up is flavoured with sugar instead of high fructose syrup, and consequently their is a caramel note. Limca as both lemon and lime juice in it's recipe which adds a subtle tartness when compared to Lemon Fanta I would recommend getting one for novelty - however they are by no means necessary for your experience here. Squid Koliwada (Small Plate) It is not everyday that you find fish on the menu at an Indian - much less squid. Intrigued and feeling adventurous I ordered it. The squid itself was well cooked and crucially it was not too thick nor to thin. Too thick and it is too rubbery - too thin and it feels that you get all batter. The sticky spicy sauce was tasty and added a Thai note to the dish. Ample spring onion and chilli ensured texture and flavour changed throughout the experience. Nannwich - Chicken Tikka (Large Plate) I was not in the mood for a curry and decided to try this novel menu item, however this is where Bandook let itself down; Firstly - the filling of the sandwich was lukewarm. I imagine this is on account of preparing the food of my other 4 colleagues, and neglecting to put the item under a heat lamp, or at least, forgetting to remove the top part of the naan, shielding the filling from the heat. Secondly - the filling itself left something to be desired. It was incredibly dry. Vegetables and chicken tikka, but no sauce! I was provided a thimble of tomato ketchup, but it was not sufficient to lubericate the contents of the sandwich. Thirdly - the ketchup itself was an odd paring with naan bread. Perhaps a korma/dopiaza style sauce would lend itself better. Overall 4/5. Would recommend - but don't have the nannwich.

A premium restaurant with lovely decor and interior. The welcome and service was good as you'd expect but whole the food was good and flavourful, it failed to impress. The grilled wings tasted nice and was presented well when served, however the chicken itself didn't seem fresh. I enjoyed the butter chicken, paneer tikka masala and the lamb biryani. The lamb biryani had a good quantity of meat pieces. Overall it was definitely worth visiting - its inside Milsom Place so not visible from the road itself. Milsom place is an indoor shopping parade.

Great visit last night to end our trip to Bath! We ordered the samosa chaat, gobi 65 (highly recommended!!), gunpowder fries and chicken kebab! Very happy with the food and amazing service! Would definitely return again

We visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening. The menu was well designed with enough options for a vegetarian palate. The food was delicious, service was quick and the ambience was lovely. The kids enjoyed the meal and so did the adults. Highly recommend this place...

Authentic indian food, best of all is the different chats they serve, kale pakora chat is so crispy and sumptious, dal makhni is buttery and soya lababdar tastes amazing, highly recommend.

Went there last minute with a mate. We hadn't booked but the restaurant were able to find a table for us on a busy Friday evening. Staff were very very friendly and our food came out very quickly. I had Grandma's Chicken, which was probably one of the tastiest chicken curries I've ever had, lots of meat in there too. My mate had the lamb, which he also rated very highly. Would DEFINITELY return here.

Bandook, Bath England, was recommended by a local. My wife and I are lovers of Indian cuisine. I was brought up on curries as my father was stationed in Calcutta during WWII. We are from Vancouver Canada where there is a large Indo-Canadian population with hundreds of good Indian restaurants. I say with confidence and experience that Bandook serves the best Indian food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. We had the Railway Lamb, Deli Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, Raita and Rice. Excellent seasoning and heat. Portions were a good size and prices very reasonable. Staff were friendly and attended to your needs. Service was prompt. We were highly impressed with the whole experience.

The food is great we sometimes get it on takeaway if we are in Bath. The atmosphere and service are what make this place such a treat for me. Staff are friendly, kind, and there is room for my pram. If I’m with my dad who is half deaf, he can hear me in this space! I’ve had wonderful cocktails here with friends. I saw they’ve won an award this evening when I popped in with my toddler and I think they deserve it!

The Keema pav is something I would definitely recommend to try!! It's got tons of flavours, the meat is cooked perfectly and it's finished off with freshly cut ginger.

Honestly this was a gem to find, the staff were so caring and so attentive. Made us feel so special and where there for all our needs. The food was AMAZING. Every dish was delicious and had us saying ‘wow’ after every first bite. Definitely worth a visit.

The restaurant environment was really good but the food was not very nice as it was said on the menu. Their signature dishes were very ordinary but they described that it was very authentic. But their chai wad really nice.

This was the best Indian meal we have had for years. Sharp and sour Pani Puree in crisp shells got things off to a great start. More treats followed: Batata Vada Pav/ spicy potato dumpling, plump samosas, a Taco Dosa with generous amounts of moist, lip-smacking pulled duck. All the accompanying chutneys were fruity, piquant and home-made. Even the ostensibly standard chicken curry was distinctive with fenugreek and cumin. Outstanding food. The service is friendly andcattentive, the ambience modern and airy. I so wish we were local.

So good we went two nights running. Knowledgable, friendly staff and the unusual and very tasty food set it apart from other Indian restaurants. A lovely selection of small plates as well as some very tasty main courses. The menu clearly marked allergens and excellent gluten free options. Would highly recommend.

A gem of a place in Bath, the food was not very spicy but am sure could ask for it, the bandook chaat was excellent. The coconut Naans were superb but on the small size. Grandma's chicken curry was ok, will try a second time to se if it could push to a rare 5 stars

Very good restaurant good food great staff. I ordered their signature chicken dish and I must say really good quality and chicken was very well cooked. Staffs have been very helpful with recommendations and genuine suggestions. Special thanks to Mr. Tambi, (not sure whether it’s his real name as everyone was addressing him as tambi) who helped us with his suggestions about food and showed genuineness with his customer service. Have been a few times and always been good. Love the new menu though. Came recently with a group of 12 from work and the banquet menu worked really well for us. Great service to back it up!

Was such a fabulous meal- our waiter was attentive and had great recommendations for dishes. He made sure we had vegan friendly chutney and drinks and guided us through the menu. The keralan aubergine curry was beautiful- highly recommend for veggies/vegans.

The food was not so good. The Indian lady waiter was very rude and at the back was gossiping about us. Only the English waiter was respectful.

the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and great service however if you’re looking for fresh authentic Indian food, this isn’t the one. Ordered a lot of the small plates which blended into one generic fried food taste.

Staff are very helpful and polite however that is the only good thing and that’s me being nice. The food is so watered down, you can forget flavour, it’s not your typical Asian curry and caters to a different community. I ordered the Lamb chops for starters and they were pre-made and warmed up as they were out within 2 minutes of ordering and tasted like they have been microwaved. Some would think if you pay £13 for 2 lamb chops, at the very least they would be fresh. I ordered a Curry with some Naan for main along with chicken Biryani. I asked then o make it extra spicy, Asian style and notice they have just chucked in a handful more green chillies. Curry was heavily watered down along with the Biryani tasting more like a Pileau, with its plain taste. I ordered a Mojito passion fruit and I can confidently say it tasted more like a lemon mojito. Really soar taste. Overall does not cater to the Indian or Asian market for those looking for a little flavour or kick to the food.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced, the staff were really efficient and wonderful and they were great with allergies and were wheelchair accessible.

This restaurant is clearly from heavens. A treat of authentic Indian food. And what an amazing team. The owner Moe is super humble. And Pallavi is just fabulous, she ensured we are well taken care with deliciously hot food and service.

Awesome food but ordered via Uber eats and portions were ridiculously small! 8 dishes for 4 of us and there was enough for 2!
