Spice Culture in Harrogate

Chose this place due to the different curries available, something we don't get where we live. Food was amazing, tastes and smells that excited your senses. Such a different selection that you don't normally find. The staff explained where the dishes came from and how they were made. Not huge selection to chose from but enough, which personally I find better. The best curry I think we've tasted. We will be back on our next visit to Harrogate

We’d read previous reviews and were excited at the prospect of eating at SC. We arrived at 9 to be told they close at 10 and basically get a move on, not a good start. We ordered beers starters of popadoms which came with 3 poor sauces. The pops tasted as if they’d been made earlier, cold and tasteless. Main courses were ok but not wow. So by 9:45 we were ready to leave. Unfortunately the till was broken so everything was worked out by hand. 20 minutes later we were sorted. Not a great meal or experience.

Holy sh*t! Spice Culture is hands down the best Indian I’ve ever had. Living in Harrogate we’re actually annoyed we haven’t been sooner. It was absolutely outstanding. The food was simply next level, and our server Priyanka was so lovely. Efficient, welcoming and not overbearing. She was a delight. Thanks so much for a wonderful meal, I’ll be raving about this to everyone and am already wanting to come back!

We went for a meal at Spicecultureuk to celebrate my birthday yesterday and it was, by far, the best Indian we've ever had! We had Poppadoms and pickle tray to start, followed by a Veg platter and Tellicherry Squid. Then for mains we had the Mushroom, Gobi and Paneer Korma, the Chicken Tikka Saagwala, Peshwari Naan and Garlic Mushroom rice. Every aspect of the meal was well presented and so tasty! We had to take a doggy bag home as our eyes were clearly bigger than our bellies 🤣 We will definitely be going back again soon though. They even sang happy birthday to me and brought me a little dessert out. Excellent food, excellent service and well priced too. All that and a bottle of wine with service included came to around £85. The starters looked so good we just tucked straight in, so I didn't even take photos, only got pics of the mains. 10/10

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had the most amazing Indian meal tonight—Pindi Chickpeas Masala with Pilau Rice—and it was absolutely phenomenal! The chickpeas were cooked to perfection, coated in a rich, flavorful masala that had the perfect balance of warmth, spice, and depth. Each bite was bursting with authentic, aromatic goodness. The pilau rice complemented the dish beautifully, fragrant and fluffy with just the right amount of seasoning. Every mouthful was a delight! If you're a fan of bold, comforting Indian flavors, this meal is a must-try. Can’t wait to have it again!

I was really impressed with the quality of the food. I would go as far to say, it was the best Indian food that I've ate in this country. Pepper chicken chettinad, lovely, also the chicken madras. Great service from our waiter Pratham.

I recently had a fantastic experience at Spice Culture in Harrogate with a group of 20. Despite the restaurant's cosy size, the team truly pulled out all the stops to accommodate our large party. A special shout out to Priyanka, who looked after us with exceptional care and attention throughout the evening. The food was outstanding—each dish was rich in flavour and beautifully presented. While the cuisine is known for its spiciness, the knowledgeable staff are more than happy to offer guidance and tailor the dishes to suit your palate sensitivity. Spice Culture is clearly a popular spot, so I’d highly recommend booking in advance if you’re planning a visit. I had such a wonderful evening that I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended!

Found this restaurant via a high recommendation of a local who lives in Harrogate that said this was the best Indian in Harrogate,high praise! Nice restaurant and welcoming staff. The food was wonderful,very tasty with just the right amount of spices to bring out the full flavour of the dish. I had the Chicken chutney pakoras and for the main dish Chicken Tikka dum Biryani with Bombay Aloo side and naan bread. Each dish was perfect and the meal overall very good and worthy of the praise and recommendation. Would definitely revisit when back in Harrogate.

Celebrated valentines at Spice culture. Restaurant was full and a really buzzing atmosphere. Staff very welcoming on arrival and both friendly and efficient throughout the evening. Food was fantastic- definitely recommend and will be back. All the ladies received a red rose on departure which I thought was a lovely touch to end a really great evening- thank you 💗

The vibe in the restaurant is great, with nice lighting and music. The food was awesome, never had a curry like it! The Tarka Dahl was on point! The service was also amazing. Priyanka was a great hostess and made us all feel welcome. She was very professional. Would highly recommend!

I recommend the butter chicken and garlic naan!

Beautifully cooked juicy and tender meat throughout. The mixed tandoori shared starter was delicious and really well cooked and I had the best butter chicken main. Our server, Priyanka, was attentive and checked we were happy with each dish. Great to have such a quality restaurant in the area.

Cannot fault the service and food . Not your standard Indian menu. Good atmosphere the food of quality and high standard. A memorable 40th birthday celebration with a desert, candle and Happy Birthday at the end.

First time in Harrogate and we stumbled across this restaurant and had the best Indian we’ve ever tasted! Very friendly staff, particularly Priyanka who went out of her way to make sure we were happy with our food. Only here for 2 days but tempted to go again tonight!

Although the decor may not be the swankiest the food was excellent. Great flavour and well presnted. Service was superb and I would highly recommend a visit.

Right across convention centre, convenient to walk to and had great food with authentic indian taste. Staff was very courteous to help us choose right portions Ambience can be improved but nevertheless Home food in foreign location is delicious in any ambience. Cheers

We came for dinner on a Friday night. It was very busy but the service was great from Adi, he was so friendly and attentive, he even changed the music for us! The food was amazing particularly the starters and the portions were massive. We will definitely come again the next time we are in Harrogate.

Don't get chicken tikka from here

Easily the best curry house in Harrogate. I recommend the mix meat starter, samosa chaat, butter chicken, biriani or a lamb dish. Top tier 👌

We ordered the 14.99 share starter following by a vegetarian Biriani. Both up all night being sick, the vegetarian Biriani had little vegetables choice ..3 cauliflower..peas..the slices of cheese which I questioned with the manager..poor choice and for £63 including a £5.76 service charge..stay away folks i will be informing food hygiene.

What really can I say, I'm a creature of habit so king prawn jalfrazi for me. I bench mark all my curry's with my go to curry house back home (for years) which has never failed me until tonight. Food here bloody delish, service awesome, very accommodating as we did not book (book before hand advised) very busy for 7pm. I'm just gutted now I don't live in Harrogate, may have to move here just for the curry house. Cheers Spice Culture

Great staff very polite and efficient Great food !

Four of us visited Spice Culture and had a great experience. The food is intricately spiced and simply scrumptious! Everything was great and the service from Amit was exceptional as he advised our choices from the great menu. We will definitely be back.

We booked this restaurant for my partners special birthday. We have been to Harrogate numerous times but never to Spice Culture. They were listed very high on this site so I booked in advance and so glad I did as straight away you can see, (and smell) why it is one of, if not, the best in Harrogate. On our arrival, we were placed at the window table, and the service was prompt, polite, and very friendly. The food was plentiful and absolutely gorgeous. The waiter Adi deserves a special mention as his recommendation of the chicken Shashlik was divine. Al in all, this was, without doubt, the best Indian meal we have ever had (and I've had a few). It was also very reasonably priced. At the end of the meal we were approached by a lovely couple who asked who's birthday it was, when I asked how they knew they told us that they were regulars at Spice Culture and they had been moved from their usual table because we were celebrating. Which I thought was a lovely gesture by the management. The finishing touch was a free sweet, with a candle, and a rendition of 'Happy Birthday' from the staff. All in all, the visit to Spice Culture was the highlight of our few days in Harrogate, and I would recommend it on your next stay. Many thanks to all.

The first chicken tikka masala I’ve loved, it’s not a dish I would usually choose as I find it too sweet and uninteresting - this was quite the opposite, nice depth of flavour and heat and for me perfect. I will return and order this dish again! 👍

Staying close by for my birthday trip away I'd researched a couple of restaurants and this being one, on entering we noticed how full it was and the warm welcome and atmosphere. After we were shown to our seat we had plenty of time to look over the menu and I chose onion & potato bhajis, never had them like this before as normal its like a tennis ball size, however this were more squashed and I have to say the best I've ever tasted. main course was a mild beef curry with mushroom rice, again very good, the bill was reasonable and the staff very attentive.

Booked in advance for my birthday. Great, packed atmosphere, portions way to big so we took home for lunch following day, served by Priyanica, and what a pleasure, this young lady was do helpful in explaining dishes, made our decision to dine here all the better.

Good service, food tastes amazing all the time. Amit, who was attending to us, was good as always. Will always come back here when we crave indian food. 🥰

We have only been to Spice Culture a few times but it is already a firm favourite on our list of restaurants in Harrogate. The food is excellent with lovely herbs & spices, and the service friendly and very attentive (especially by Patham). Highly recommended.

Had a family meal. Starter was nice. Lamb shank was tender and full of flavor. Rice hit the spot. Poppadoms were much bigger than expected. Wish the Pinot grigio wine was available by glass. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Will definitely return.

Highly recommend Spice Culture. Food was great but service from Priyanka was superb. She engaged in conversation about the origins of some of the food further enhancing the evening experience.

Had a wonderfull chicken rogan josh with steamed rice and naan.telephone order from a nearby hotel. Very good communication on the phone. Advised of a pick up time and payment on collection. Service was prompt and accurate even provided utensils knife, fork, spoon etc.. walked back to hotel and food was still hot 10mins later... very very good.

Agree with all the 5* reviews. IMHO A cut above other Indian restaurants.The flavours and the variety of dishes make this restaurant special. Lovely friendly atmosphere and reasonably priced. Thanks 👍👍

Fabulous Indian food tapas style and our waiter PRATHAM was out standing he recommend a dish which was Fabulous samosas in a yogurt sauce that was amazing and the fish curry was to die for I would definitely recommend this Fabulous Indian restaurant

I am so predictable with what I order when out for a curry, however decided to be a bit more adventurous and so glad I did 🤗 I ordered the Virgin Strawberry Mojito which was very good, could of easily had three of these 😍 Poppadoms with condiments tray, very nice. Starter, Bombay Aloo Tikka Chat, this was delicious followed by Awadi Lamb Shank which was amazing and the Peshwari Naan, yummy. Lovely service just added to a good night. Will defo be back.

We hadn't booked ,but called in when staying in Harrogate overnight. The restaurant was busy but they managed to find us a table and I'm so glad they did! One of the best Indian meals I have ever had ,matched by the excellent and friendly service from Adi . I will definitely be back when in the area again and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others

We rocked up about 7.00pm and this small restaurant was rammed. We were advised it would be about half an hour before a table would be free but that was no problem as we just nipped across the road to one of the bars for a drink. We returned to Spice Culture about 8.00 when it had quietened down and were shown to our table by the ever-attentive Adi. Although we only had one meal between the two of us (we're not stingy just that we know that one meal each is way too much) service was still amazing, the food absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back if we're ever in Harrogate again, and will recommend to anyone who asks.

Excellent. Busy for early Wednesday when plenty of restaurants near by had very few customers. Says it all.

We had a fantastic family dinner at Spice Culture last month. The chicken tikka dum biryani, butter naan, chicken kuruma, nuggets, chips, and mango lassi were all incredibly delicious. The service was exceptional, especially Priyanka, who was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful in recommending the perfect curry for me since I can't handle spicy food.

Fantastic place we stayed in harrogate for 3 nights and visited twice we loved it so much. Special thanks to Adi, Amit and the Chefs Santosh & Vijay . Mojito cocktails the best in town.

This was a great choice from hundreds of restaurants we could have chosen in Harrogate. It has a nice atmosphere to it around the bar and window area. ( not so much at the back towards the loos ) Not your typical old fashioned Indian restaurant, as it is much like new ones opening recently offering more street food and lighter options than the old school curries. For starters we opted for some spiced lamb kebabs with salad and a fresh minty dip, delicious, and a Prawn Koliwada which was marinated in ginger, garlic, green chilli and coriander, stupendous flavour. A fantastic start brought to us by very pleasant front of house staff. Onto the mains and we were informed that all is not what it seems in a few of their dishes as they cooked them differently to most other restaurants. So, firstly the chicken tikka masala was ordered as the waitress explained it was more spicy and richer than most. It was absolutely beautiful, full of flavour and dippy enough for the naan bread to be enjoyed fully with it. Our second choice was chicken tikka jalfrezi. It was excellent also. A wealth of spice and freshly infuse spices were abundant in the taste. I am sure if you order anything it will be just great in here. Every thing we chose was superb. A great front of house team were evident, and it is as I mentioned earlier a rather nice dining room. Try it as I am sure you will love it.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Just got back from a meal at Spice Culture and words can’t describe how good the food was. Easily the best Indian restaurant I have been to and all of the meals had a slight twist making it their own. We had poppadoms which were light with a great choice of dips. Garlic and chilli fish starter and chicken pakora. We then had chicken tikka jalfrezi, chicken tikka madras, a korma and a masala, along with rice and chips and naan. I would rate this restaurant 10/10. The staff were all friendly and chatty. They also had traditional Indian desserts. All in all a great place. FYI they add a service charge to the bill which we thought was absolutely fine.

Absoulte top class spot! Food was absolutely delicious. Pre-started poppadoms fresh and crunchy. Very tasty starters (Pakora chutney chicken is unreal!). Mains were simply beautiful (tender chicken, lamb falling appart, rich curry, fluffy rice and best naan bread I ever tasted!) Moreover, service was spot on! Very polite and progessional, perfect timings on everything, always fresh plates and cutlery. I would like to say big thank you to Adi, our main waiter. 5 stars place! PS. Do recommend booking table beforehand. People know it's amazing :)

I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. (Reservations are essential as it was fully booked, and for good reason). The food was delicious and full of flavors. The restaurant came highly recommended, and we were eager to try it. We weren’t disappointed. Every dish was exceptional. Additionally, the staff were wonderful. Our waiter, Adi, provided excellent recommendations and suggestions. He was polite and attentive, enhancing our dining experience.

Really great authentic indian food availible at spice culture. We really enjoyed our visit as part of a work visit and the food really was top tier. The service and staff was excellent and the ambience of the venue was great.

Delivery via Deliveroo. Half of poppadoms soft, not fresh spice tray (mango chutney and lime puckle) very poor and leaking. Main meals a little better but overall a bit disappointing.

A great find for a birthday treat. 2 courses with a bottle of rose was just shy of £80 including a tip (gratuity already added). Amazing sharing starter and 2 mains with a nan bread and a tandoori roti was well presented and cooked perfectly.

We recently had dinner here , we sat outside as it was a lovely evening & we had our dog with us . The experience was really great , super service from Priyanka & gorgeous food . We shared some street food / tapas and a main meal . The fish and lamb dishes were just delicious !

Ordered for delivery, never tried food from Spice culture but the reviews looked good so thought I would give it a try. The food was beautiful, tasty and cooked perfectly. I will definitely return but to eat in next time!

Not a regular post writer but wanted to give a big shout out to the chef at Spice Culture. We have eaten curry over a large part of the world and this was one of the best. The balance of spice was excellent and the taste was fabulous. Almost didn't go to the restaurant as you wouldn't expect food of this quality in Harrogate. If you don't go, you're the one who'll be missing out. Exceptional

Second time we have visited Harrogate, and the second time visiting Spice Culture. It is undoubtedly one of the best Indian restaurants we have been to. The food is fantastic and value for money. The service is excellent. Cannot recommend it enough 5*

Amazing food, fabulous atmosphere, great service and good friends. We ordered a mixture of dishes and shared so we got a fab range of food to try and amazing dishes. Happy staff and great service. Food examples included shared starter platers, lamb shank, goan fish, lamb byriani, butter chicken. All fabulous.

I have had alot of currys in my life and have been to many restaurants, but I must say from the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was lovely. We was shown to our table, the waitress we had she was very very good and explained dishes to us, and we'll what can I say when the food turned up, it was absolutely beautiful, full of flavour very tender and presented lovely. I would go as far and say this is the best curry that I have ever had, I would recommend the goan sea bass curry, the mixed tandoori platter, the chilli paneer, the chicken tikka jalfarzi, the chicken tikka saagwala, bhuna lamb keema matar and the naan bread is something else. I would definitely recommend this place and will be visiting again very soon

A really lovely evening out with my Dad for this birthday, the food and service were exceptional as usual, our server Adi was brilliant and really made our evening.

Absolutely beautiful food the best I've had so far by a long shot. Not a huge place so we were lucky to get a table when we did. The only slight down side my legs aren't the best and there are rather steep steps up to the place. Would highly recommend the lamb biryani.

Four of us dined here and the experience was excellent. I ordered the Awadhi Lamb Shank, with pilau rice and a tandoori roti. It was one of the best Indian meals I've ever ever had. So delicious. The lamb fell off the bone and the sauce it was cooked in was excellent. I cannot fault this great Indian restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommended.

Great restaurant and service from our host Prat

Met a couple of friends for dinner here this week . Service was very friendly and relaxed as we were too busy chatting to order at first. We shared the mixed starter for 3 which was brilliant but huge ! As a result we didn't manage to eat all of our mains but Amit very kindly packed them up for us to take home as well as doing a great job of looking after us all evening. Food was all really tasty and a nice relaxed evening. Looking forward to the next visit already.

This fabulous Indian restaurant did not disappoint. We booked in advance & we were given a lovely window seat for two that made the experience even better. Prat our waiter explained the menu very well & his recommendations were exactly to our taste. Both the sharing starter for two & mains were of the highest quality. Great value for money & we will definitely return ASAP.

Only our second time visiting spice culture the first being last September. We are staying on local caravan site. We came first time to find food staff and atmosphere so good when we returned to Harrogate we booked a table straight away. As first time we were not disappointed. The food is amazing as are staff. The chef cooks with passion. Amazing use of spices. We will return.
