Spice Corner in Croydon

Spice corner has been closed now it’s operating with new name SHAH KARAHI , and new management the food is v nice Fresh and mouth watering

I ordered a chicken curry from there with anon and a few barges, and the next day I had a really bad stomachache and a visit to the loo too often. I have also now found out that the restaurant has been forcibly closed due to a mouse infestation. This will be the last visit to this restaurant

Ordered for delivery for myself and family (including my mum who is very fussy when it comes to curries etc). Delivery and service was fantastic and on time. And the food was SOO good. We had nans, lamb biryani, chilli paneer and kebab rolls and everything was nothing short of delicious, especially the meat bhuna and peshwari naan!!! Also found it much cheaper than other Indian restaurants in the local area. Will order again.

I ordered a meal for one which was fantastic value at £12.99. Included in it was one naan bread, an onion bhaji, one popadom with sauces and a main and side dish. I chose a prawn jalfrezi and channa daal. The portions were very generous in size and would feed more than 2 people but sadly they lacked in taste really. The bhaji was great but the daal was quite bland and the jalfrezi tasted like it could have been any hot dish. There were no authentic spices or flavours in it at all. The naan bread was okay but very thin and had holes in places. Overall this was great value so I’d recommend it due to that but unfortunately for me it lacked any real authenticity in depth of flavour and so I shan’t return.

Just had my first takeaway from spice Corner Addiscombe absolutely delicious, very good value for money would definitely recommend and will be ordering again very soon... Staff very friendly

Not for the squeamish, maybe, but Brain Masala was the days special, and since I haven't had one for five years that got ordered. It was dearer than expected at about £8.95, & £1.95 for the rice, but was very generously proportioned with a nice oniony and subtle spice flavour. The meal was impressive enough to say I would go back. Had been about two years ago here and was pleased with a chapli kebab then. Is conveniently located for the 197 and 410 buses just a couple of stops from East Croydon BR. Will return.

Recently ordered takeaway from here through Deliveroo. Big mistake; don’t get sucked in by the tempting offer of 10% off, which they probably have to run permanently because the food is so bad. Here’s a brief summary of each dish.-Tandoori lamb chops - burnt, too salty, chewy.- Tandoori mixed grill - burnt and salty to the extent it was inedible- Meat Biryani - dryer that Ghandi’s flip flop- King Prawn Karahi - flavourless sauce with some bits of king prawn floating in it- Chicken Dhansak - overly sweet, could’ve doubled as a pudding. Keema Naan - no layer of keema. Instead it was as shogun they’d rubbed the naan dough on the floor to get some keema scraping together for the breadCheese naan - Not a scrap of cheese in sight. Onion bhaji was just a bit edible but not tasty in the slightest.Meat samosa was the only palatable item in the entire order..I’ll be giving this place a wide berth from now on...

Ordered through Uber Eats. In short, no fried onions in rice as described and the Tarka dal was so watery and tasteless. Even more tasteless was the Chicken Madras. It had no heat whatsoever, despite being labelled as ‘hot’ The sauce was thin and runny and the chicken cubes were bone dry as if they had just been added last minute minute and not marinated or cooked properly with the sauce. The order should have arrived between 25 and 35 minute but took 50 minutes. Disappointing and will never use or recommend.
