Selsdon Spice in Croydon

We decided to dine at Selsdon spice for my sister’s birthday with a moderately sized party. We were served drinks as soon as we arrived and found the service to be very good. The food arrived in good time from when we placed the order and I have to say my lamb madras was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Very flavourful and a perfect thickness of sauce. Everyone really enjoyed their food and we will definitely be going back in the near future.

I would love to post a good review on the takeaway but it arrived 25 minutes late, luke warm, & only one broken poppadom if you eat in the restaurant good service & perfect meal.

The chilli masala hot was, bland and I believe they forgot to put any chilli in the dish. Stated 3 chilli hot but I have hotter cormers than this

The food was decent enough but service was somewhat slow and indifferent. The restaurant was not too busy either so more attentive service should have been possible.

Great value, superb service and good food! Rhiad (I hope I have spelled that correctly) couldn’t have been more accommodating and it was obvious he genuinely cared about our experience. Poppadoms, starters, mains, rice, nan, bottle of wine, a Baileys and an Amaretto for £55 for two!

Be very careful to NOT order from this restaurant online. They will accept order, your payment and then promptly cancel order without any notification or any refund of your money.

Second time in a row with missing items! Please sort it out Selsdon Spice because the food is excellent when it does arrive!

This is probably the best curry we had for a long long time, we ate every last bit of food served out. We will be going again. Top place for excellent fresh food cooked to a high standards.

The food was OK. Maybe a little biased as I'm Indian but I've had better. We ordered the lamb karahi, chicken biriyani and saag aloo. The lamb karahi and saag aloo were very mild in taste with little spice and the karahi was not the standard karahi you would expect. Overall, food was okay and edible but probably not worth the price.

amazing, they called to make sure my requests were just right. delivery driver brought it right up to my flat as well - plus the food was delicious

The madras I had was very watery. The poppadoms and chips were also soggy

Someone new in the kitchen? Please brief them on the ingredients of a jalfrezi. There were no peppers and no chilies, but they included curry leaves? 🤔 Love Selsdon Spice, we're regular customers, but tonight's middle of the road effort was disappointing.

11/10 every time!!!!! my only go-to for Indian, and I've tried loads and they don't compare...... (ssshhh, but "Number 1" for chinese!!! 😉)

Curry not the same creamy tomato flavour as usually, too peppery, different taste. Naan bread seemed different too

Rang the restaurant to add a portion of chips to the order and agreed to pay for them on delivery. Paid for them when the order turned up but when I opened the order there were no chips.

Food was extremely late (over 1hr 50 minutes late). Called restaurant and spoke to staff who had me on hold for a very long time. When I tried to call back the phone was engaged. No call back to ensure that I received the food.

thats i ordered 2 coke bottle 1.5L but its only one. Never mind next time double-check my order! Its your job to do check ordered and lost my £3.25 anyway thanks

Got a takeaway - food was ok. The dishes are quite oily (I wish places would cook with less oil!) - but taste was decent enough. Good value. Won’t rush back - but good back up option for a one off

Tried calling man on phone was so rude kept saying what what i can understand English isnt hes first language but the attitude is disgusting then the delivery driver pulled up on my drive!!! Which now stop my partner from getting on the delivery driver was weird staring at me in my pyjamas like weird.then eating the food it was all stone cold!! Like really !! Normally love it from here but this time really different

The chicken in both dishes was tough and wasn’t very nice.

For the amount of money i spend i would have expected a free mint sauce like i have from every other indian restaurant i've ever ordered from but not this one. Food was good though.

The food was very enjoyable with the exception of the onion bhajis which were so hard, you could not cut them.

My order was 30 minutes late, even after a delay. Rang and told driver had left clear was not the case, food arrived luke warm had to reheat it. And the prawns in the prawn cocktail were very chewy. Today will be my last order.

NOT good, Chicken tikka main, chicken not cooked through, bombay aloo potatoes too hard. Food normally ok but definitely not tonight ☹️

Hi I made a mistake last night it was my bad and I shouldn't of let my cousin speak to you that way. Even though I made the mistake. The food was delivered to the right address on time. My Nan did offer to drive us down the road to pick it up. The food was lovely Again so sorry for letting my cousin speak to the owner the way he did On the 23 July 2022 at 10:30pm.

Wow. Great staff, amazing food and service. Visited here with my partner and his sister, her husband and 3 small children. Very accommodating. Will be returning next time we come down south to visit the family.

Fantastic I orderd the chicken.methi asked for it naga hot and it was spot on good quality chicken and well presented with garnish coconut rice spot on as was the bombay aloo the time before I had a moan about drinks not being cold and this they were ice cold. Not just a take away a real treat

Excellent food again, I was hungry so was really pleased it arrive earlier than estimated. I was also pleased to see they added a little more sauce with the prawn purée which I suggest in my first review. Looking forward to ordering again
