Siam Town in Croydon

I’d been wanting to experience this restaurant for a while! I live locally and has tried their penang curry a couple of times as a takeaway but having my sister come to stay, I finally had a chance to experience eating in. It’s very small and cosy (I’m sure the table & chair right by the door is a fire hazard! 🙃) but it does have a nice warm and welcoming vibe. The waitress was lovely and the menu choices looked so good it was difficult to choose what to have. We ended up sharing the spring rolls & chicken gyoza to start, both were very very good! For mains, my sis had chicken pad Thai and I had prawns with ginger & spring onion. Both looked good but unfortunately we found both dishes to be strangely sweet. It was hard to describe but the sweetness ruined it a little for us which was a shame as we were very much looking forward to it. I will still try Siam town again, as I’m hoping it was just a one off? I really want to like this place so will definitely be giving it another go and trying some different dishes next time.

Good food and really friendly staff. Our favourites are the pad thai, curry dishes, Thai fried rice. I would however not recommend the tom yum soup as it's a bit disappointing. It lacks flavour, it's not spicy and I had the impression of eating a really poorly seasoned hot water soup. I'm also very sad som tam is not on the menu anymore 😭

A tiny place but an excellent experience. The food is fresh, tasty and quickly served. The menu is not extensive but quite sufficient. Very affordable but wonderful quality. The restaurant ISN'T licensed but they're happy for you to bring your own bottle. Guaranteed a quick return from this happy customer

Lovely service and staff. But if you know Thai food, you'll be disappointed because this is not proper Thai. The tom yum was just like water that some vegetables had been boiled in, the pad Thai was yellow and the green curry had no Kafir lime leaves added (an essential)! We we really disappointed. I honestly don't know if Thai cuisine varies by region, but this is not the Thai I've had in Thailand, or made at home or had at other Thai restaurants. The service and staff were lovely though, so I feel bad putting a two-star review, but I really don't want anyone else looking for authentic Thai to be disappointed like we were! :(

Best thai food and the staff is always very warm and welcoming. You can also bring your own bottle of alcohol and just pay a small corkage fee.

This place is brilliant. The food is excellent, the staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is great, it’s very cozy and it’s CHEAP! I love this place. Can’t rate it highly enough. Also, it’s BYOB which is great!

We ordered take away which was delivered. Pad Thai, Thai rice and red chicken curry. It was bland. Nowhere near the heat or freshness that I expect from Thai food. The Pad Thai was ok, occasional hints of basil, but pretty bland. Likewise, the flavours were kind of there with the red curry, but bland. The rice was clumpy and a bit gloopy. Overall, the dishes lacked a fresh, spicy flavour. The food was ok, but I wouldn’t order take away from here again.

I love this little restaurant, its reasonable, the food is very nicely cooked, i always have the massaman curry as i cant get it any where else, they have a selection of teas , / coffee, you can have , and you can bring your own alcohol in,, The staff who serve you are always very polite and the service is lovely ,, I went there with my brother many years ago, and have since been twice with my friend before we go and pay scrabble in ludoquist, the food is in Sian town is very reasonably priced, and i would gladly take any friend there, it doesnt dissapoint

This is a little gem tucked away on the high street in Croydon. The staff are so welcoming and nice you just don't want to leave. As for the food for a family of 4 with drinks we spend £50 -£60. Definitely value for money and the portion sizes are big. We never manage to clear our plates. We will keep going back as we love it. The food is so tasty as well. I tend to have the Pad Kra pao and my family have either noodles or the rice dishes. Very tasty.

Superb. Love the BYOB. Massaman curry is excellent, as others have mentioned. Spicy beef noodles are genuinely spicy and I'm so glad for that but beware if you think you can handle it! Top class Thai food in all 👏

Best chicken satay ! Duck and the tofu massaman curry was delicious and pad thai has so much flavour good size portions and price is great! Highly recommended definitely recommend booking as it small restaurant, great to have options if you don’t eat meat too !

I went again with a friend to Siam Town , just the other day , for brunch, I hadn't been since 2019.. Its got what my friend described as an intimate dining experience. When we visited it had quite a few diners in there. The staff who served us were very polite, and the food was lovely . I had a' Prawn Massaman Curry' , and is was delightful, and my friend ordered a spicy 'Tom Yam Soup, i don't think he realised how spicy they are, but he liked the other dish he ordered which looked like dumplings, He still said hed revisit. If you want alcohol, you have to bring your own, but they do a really nice selection of tea, and soft drinks, and the food is very reasonable indeed . I will definitely return. its small but cosy , and the inside décor is pleasant . Its well worth a visit .

Wow the food here is amazing, can’t believe I didn’t know about this place sooner! I had the vegetable pai thai, was so fresh and tasty, probably the nicest I’ve ever had. Reasonably priced and such a lovely lady served me. Definitely recommend!!

Love coming here. Great food cooked and served by the family/owners. Great value been back sloop many times. Bring your own drinks (so make it great value) they will also put your drinks in the fridge to keep cool.

Food was nice, limited options however. Service was so poor, people who came after us were served before and every table received water standard but we did not. The lady wasn’t the kindest to us as soon as we entered but for some reason everyone else was receiving a different treatment. We didn’t even get a menu after sitting down for at-least 10 minutes .. bit of shame because it’s a cute spot.

3rd time here and it’s amazing - authentic!

Went here last minute on Saturday night without a booking, and they accommodated us which was great. It's BYOB and there is a shop opposite if you forget. My wife and I shared two starters, two mains and the food was authentic and superb. If your daring, ask for a little hotter. It was our first visit and certainly not our last. Absolute hidden little gem.

Food was spectacular and all the more palatable at such a reasonable price point. Service was friendly and prompt. Couldn't really ask for more of an authentic Thai spot! Definitely needs to be a regular 🎯

One of the best Thai food in the U.K. the food especially Pad Thai is authentic and not too sweet as other Thai restaurants. Recommended prawn toasts and green curry and the price is very reasonable!

The service is slow and the workers are rude. One worker; a young boy was on his phone the entire time and barely paid any attention to us whilst ordering. My food was cold, it was far from authentic Thai food and was disgusting and there’s much better food available.. 🤮 also the staff eye rolled me and rushed me when ordering

Get in, clear the tables, find a seat and patiently prepare for the 'other worldly' food to arrive. Food is soul connecting element on earth. This is one such place, it should be on your bucket list. Did i tell you the chef/business owner is a warm smiling hostess. Small place big punch!

This is a hidden jam right in the heart of Croydon. The food is amazing the value is incredible and the service and staff are fabulous. It's one of the most reasonable places to eat and the service is fast, yet leisurely. Whether you are looking for a quick wholesome lunch or a lounging dinner You can't go wrong coming here.

Good food and excellent value, but understandably a bit tight for space. Byo makes it even better value for money. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

I popped in here with my mum for an impromptu lunch during the week. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we decided to order some spring rolls, spicy rice noodles with chicken and a basil stir fry for me. The food arrived steaming hot and was okay but was nothing extraordinary. The prices are very competitive however and the restaurant proved popular, with the tables filling up quickly. I am not sure I would return though because I’ve had better Thai food elsewhere but I’m glad to have tried it.

This was a great experience (even if I did end up singing there!). My Massaman was better than I had had at the Salathip (Shangri-la), Bangkok - and told the chef so. Great service+ a lovely experience overall. Great value, as well.

As a HKer been to Thailand for more than ten times, I reckon this is the best and authentic Thai food I have tried in the UK/ London. Run by a Thai family, cozy vibe with detailed recipes - finally some pad Thai with the right texture and flavour (I really dislike those I tried in many different places which were either too oily, soggy or salty) and a very intriguing mixture of sourness and spicy Tom Yum. Keep it up!!

I love this place, the food is full of flavour and the staff is super welcoming, I would eat here everyday if I could! My favourite dish is their green curry.

I have been eating at Siam Town for years, and it is consistently the best Thai food that I’ve had outside of Thailand. To be honest, it rivals most of the food that I’ve had in Thailand too. I’ve eaten in, taken away, ordered delivery; lunch time, dinner time, late night - I have done everything in my power to catch them on a bad day and it just does not happen. The bar they have on quality is just too high. The staff are incredibly warm and friendly and I will remain a regular here until they kick me out.

Me and my partner visited this place for lunch having gone past it for the last two years. We had no expectations or idea on the quality. It was really nice and mirrored good food you get in Thailand. We had a mix of starters. Dumplings the best and two mains, one penang curry and spicy noodles. Well priced and tasty cooking with a mix of flavours. Will come again 👍

We often walked past this cute restaurant always saw it was busy, but tonight we booked a table ( advise to book as super busy!) I can see why it has so many great reviews, service impeccable, food was sublime, starters were gyoza and prawn/ chicken toast, 🤩 then mains Thai red curry ..wow!! And a massaman curry .. both were plentiful and full of fresh taste !! After 13 years living here we have found our fav restaurant . We brought a Malbec in as they have a BYO which was great, Great price for the quality of service and food we received !! Thank you from new regs ❤️

Couldn't be further away from Thai food if they had tried. The pad Thai was so orange I thought it was made from pumpkin purée. The Massaman curry was basically white coconut water with boiled potatoes. The spicy noodles were bland and clumped together with soggy vegetables. This was a small birthday dinner with a few friends and we were left embarrassed for serving such food. So so disappointing. Absolutely wasted nearly £90. Would have been so much better to have ordered McDonald's or sandwiches from the corner shop. Never going back

This is the best Thai restaurant in the borough of Croydon, the beef massaman is my favourite. All the food is made to order with fresh ingredients and tastes very good. The owners of the restaurant are so kind and welcoming. If you haven’t tried Siam’s Town yet you need too!!

Lovely secret Thai restaurant not a lot know about this place. Menu small but I think that's better as small menus not much too prepare. Food good staff are so friendly and polite and you can bring your own alcohol. Be advised think there a small cork fee. Try Siam you won't be disappointed.
