Delicious food and great delivery service

Do not order from this place. I placed an order and paid over 3 hrs ago. When I rang the resteraunt they told me it had been delivered despite their response was it had been delivered to an alleged fabricated address. Avoid.

First time of tasting the food from this restaurant, after a recommendation and what a delightful taste it was. Enjoyed the Korma which was rich in chicken as well as the sauce. Naan and rice were spot on. Highly recommended 👌

Actually, I had a takeaway, and I’d like to apologise to the workers at Raj of Purley. Months ago, you took nearly 2 hours to deliver, and my reaction was dramatic, to say the least. I was starving and grumpy, as I often am on an empty stomach. But I’m back. I couldn’t keep away. Your dishes are delicious! And I recommend the Murgi Massalam to any first-time visitors. Thank you!

Food arrived after 2 hours 30 minutes and items were missing. Was told I would receive a refund for missing items and a discount when the manager is next in and I have heard nothing since. Will never be ordering from here again, food was mediocre and rice was soggy and wet.

Not the greatest Indian but passable. Some great flavours in the curries although the chicken was a little dry. Naan was alright. We got delivery which took twice as long as the estimated time on the website.

I had a takeaway so cannot comment on the service or atmosphere but the takeaway was lovely. I do not eat meat so tried the fish curry, it was delicious. Food was hot and fresh. Would order again.

Have ordered plenty of times from here before on a Saturday night and never had an issue until last night! At 5.45pm I placed an order for 1 x Korma, 1x Rice & 1x Naan At 7.30pm I called as my food had not arrived to be told they were only just cooking it but will be delivered within 30 mins. At 8.15pm I called again to be told the driver was on his way. At this point I’m furious and hungry just wanting my food that I have paid for. At8.25 pm my food arrived. The rice was burnt and korma cold. I live no more than a 7 minute drive from shop as well. I understand it was a Saturday night so would have been busy but waiting 2hr 45 mins for burnt cold food is ridiculous. This place is a joke. Should of ordered a dominoes instead of supporting a local business

Food arrived wrong and cold, when I called the owner denied the food being cold and told me I had to wait another 20mins for the wrong item. This place makes mistakes OFTEN! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!!!!!

Food was good but the person was so rude to non Muslims.

I ordered for delivery. They came when they said they would. Everything was hot and tasty. It was more than I could eat. Overall really good although a bit expensive.

The mixed grill was superb! Unlike other places the meat was so juicy here. Using traditional methods the food is very fresh and tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is so much easier using the option to phone premises directly and order through a staff member. Will order again. Good job all round!!

The best old-school Indian takeaway in Purley!

Ordered food from here quite a few times and always amazing. Really hot and tasty. Takes about an hour but food is so good. Definitely best Indian in the area by far

Worst curry I've ever had. We live 0.1 miles away and food was still delivered cold. The butter chicken had a skin on the sauce from where it had been sat for so long. There was also barely any chicken to be found in it. Leftover scraps and shreds of chicken thrown in a butter sauce - no actual chunks of meat. Poppadoms were at least a day old and folded like soggy cardboard. Dont waste your money!

First time we have had a home delivery from here. The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed. We will use them again.

Food was delivered on time as per App ETA but was 30 minutes after being updated it was on its way! (Delivery distance of 1 mile).No surprise it was cold. Cheese Naan lacked any cheese ! Curry was bland and mainly consisted of onion although had sufficient chicken.Would never order from these again . So disappointing .

Ordered a Beef Biriyani along with a Tarka Dhaal. Had 2 spoons and no more. Food was bland with no taste of anything. Called up the restaurant and spoke to 2 person and they came back to give refund for the food as I paid cash and I gave the food back. The reason they gave was hilarious and I said that was not acceptable.

I had to ring twice to find out what had happened to my food ... They told me my food was on the way at 1850 my food turned up 40 mins late... I spoke to the driver and he told me he left the restaurant at 1900... So they lied to me on the first phone call .... Then on the second call they said I was the last on the delivery... Food turned up and it was all cold ... Had to hear the food up in my microwave oven ..

I thought the prawn puree was delicious, probably the best i have tasted so far. The madras however failed in comparison...watery sauce, a few cubes of over cooked chicken covered with the usual oil slick which i specifically asked to drastically reduce the oil, grease and/or ghee. The saag paneer was a little on the greasy side, a lack of paneer and under seasoned but it was generally ok.

Ordered over an hour and a half ago online. Have called twice to chase food. Lied to on first call, told food was on its way. Second call, they admit the food has only just left. Extraordinary!! 1 hour 40 mins, no food, will never order here again

The sauce from the Madras I ordered had leaked onto the salad & Nan bread. No sauce left in container but sitting at the bottom of the carrier bag which it was delivered in. I rang the restaurant and they said they would remember my name on my next order. There won’t be no next order.

Waited over an hour and a half. £120 worth of food Hair in food!!! Cold Tasteless Asked to speak to manager from delivery man. He lied - he WAS the manager. No call back. AVOID. Disgusting.

Had the lamb curry for a change and really liked it

Lamb tikka starter was abit fatty. And no mint sauce to go with it. My main dish of chicken Dansak was ok, but had better. Would probably not use again sorry 😞

Website said 30-35 mins - when we ordered it was 45 mins but it took 75 mins but it was a Saturday night so probably understandable although disappointing - was delicious though!

Asked for a jalfrezi and got something completely different. Lacked flavor and was just filled with peppers. The veg samosa also lacked flavor as well. The rice was a bit dry but i can get over that.

I ordered around 6:20pm, was given a delivery time of 7:30pm, so I watched out the window, got excited when I saw a car pull up opposite, but no one got out. I waited a bit longer then rang the Raj at 8:05pm. They said food was on its way and to ask delivery man for compensation. Food arrived lukewarm 5-10 minutes later. I know the weather was bad, but the Raj is only 8 minutes drive from my house. So, why did it take 2 hours to make and deliver the food? I saw the driver go back to the car that had being sitting opposite my flat for half an hour. Bizarre!

Was very unhappy with my order. The whole Curry had leaked out everywhere into the bag, food was inedible.

I've used raj of purley for the last 10 years plus and always described it as the best I've had. Tonight I got delivered a naga murg dish that is quite simply a supermarket microwave dish.....I've had them and recognised the small pieces of tough chicken and lack of spice.....so far away from the normal it's not even excusable......I could of complained....but now I'm done and never going back. By far the best Bangladeshi/Indian food in the area. I've been a customer of theirs for the past four/five years, and I've never been disappointed in their food. Their food is always freshly made and their quality of ingredients are stellar.

Over an hour late, I ended up cancelling the order with the restaurant and reordering from a more reliable local Indian restaurant. Currently trying to get my money back from JustEat and Raj of Purely

After initial delivery missed 3 items it took an additional 50 minutes to deliver the rest of the meal. Not sure if the food would have been better if it had been hot but won’t be using again. If only if read the two previous reviews.

Great food and on time as always

Got our order wrong. When we phoned to tell them said they might send the us the right dish but they might not. We never did get it. Second time that's happened so won't order from there again.

Such a shame what has happened to this takeaway. My family and I have been using this restaurant for 15 years, but in the last year the standards have completely gone. The Jalfrezi used to be the best I've ever had, but its quality has declined massively and tonight it was a bland, watery, oily mess that had no spice or flavour. The onion bhajjis are half the size they used to be and have no crisp to them anymore. The korma was bland also and not up to former standards. Raj of Purley was always a meal we would look forward to, but tonight it was awful and most of the food was left. Really sad to see the decline in this once brilliant takeaway.

Food turned up but my chicken tikka bhuna wasn't in the bag. Rang up and said it wouldn't get out to me in 45-50 minutes. I said no and wanted my money back.

Dreadful, I specifically ordered it to arrive at 18.30 as I had a Chinese arriving then. It is now gone 7 pm and there is still no food. This service is appalling. It turned up 45 minutes late despite me ordering it over an hour before I wanted it, by the time it turned up we had eaten other food so most of this went to the dog.

Not even received the food yet. The website said to expect 35-50 minutes, we ordered and it changed to an estimate of one hour and 5 minutes. It has now been 1 hour and 20 minutes and it isn’t here. I am Very disappointed. Won’t be using just eat any time soon.

No communication from raj of purley as to delivery had to ring after half hour after estimated delivery time to find out where order was. Delivery very late, luke warm, not good enough for the price.

Raj of Purley has been a long respected restaurant which I have used a number of times. On this occasion the delivery time and food quality was on par however, I was a bit disappointed that even though I had ordered 4 or 5 dishes, there was no salad or mint raita included. I would still order from them as this may have been a one-off however, I did want to give that bit of feedback. Thanks.

This is a very good takeaway but what stops me ordering sometimes is they miss an order and have to phone to make sure food is coming at an agreed time. If they could get delivery right I would come to them much more. Shame. I just ordered again tonight and it took a very long time again, don’t think I will order anymore I have ordered recently and they have got much better and food still 5 star!! Thank you

The person delivering the food was not wearing gloves and didn't practice contactless delivery. It increases the risk. The restaurant needs to be more careful about making sure contact is avoided as much as possible. And that the delivery guys ars wearing gloves.

Zero stars- multiple items missing. Food freezing cold and delivered late and looked as though they had been dropped. Items that did arrive partially incorrect. Restaurant very unhelpful and could not deliver missing items or refund my money.

Wanted to support local restaurant during lockdown and ordered a takeaway for 4 but disappointed. Positive: online discount. Negative: food didn’t taste freshly cooked but days old and reheated. Onion bhajis tough chewy on outside as were the nan breads. And the more they cooled down the tougher and more inedible they became. Main dishes and rice just didn’t taste freshly cooked. Lamb tough, chicken ok. Not sure if poppadums come as a freebie but we didn’t get any despite receiving mint sauce and salad.

Change of management? Terrible. Shockingly bad, small portions. Tasteless. Looked like leftovers, tasted like leftovers. Used to be great, used them for over a year previously, something has changed drastically. I will not order from here again. I'll consider not using just eat if it allows this garbage. Bye!

I ordered from here due to good reviews and wanting a curry. The order turned up over an hour late, I chased the restaurant twice with the same answer its just left. When the order did arrive it was warm at best and missing key items to allow anyone to have a meal. I was not offered the missing items only they would bring it the next day. I did not receive an apology and it all appeared to be a game. The next day I took all the items I had back to them and demanded my money back. The only reasonable excuse I was offered was they were currently short staffed. I would suggest if you cant keep up with orders then stop taking them, hopefully this would stop future disappointment for others. Also if the order is wrong or late accept it and try to better yourself for next time rather than making excuses and not being truthful to the customer.

Arrived 35 mins after time informed which in total was 1 hr 40 mins although when ordering initially it said 35-40 mins. When it arrived it was wrong order, wouldn’t then deliver correct meal. I understand during current times they’re busy but they had my phone number to inform us but didn’t. The food was actually really good when it arrived!

Butter chicken was even better than usual which is good going considering it’s the best u can get locally anyway. Onion Bhaji’s were lovely and crispy no grease as were the meat samosa’s......if anything they should not be able to provide food this tasty when all the gyms are closed! Defo a thumbs up form us 👍

BEWARE!!! First and last time order. If I could include a photo of the really sad, dry and burnt Aloo Gobi (a couple of bits of chargrilled cauliflower with 3 bits of burnt potato), I would - sadly I can't. Food was late. Cheese naan is more Cheese on Naan (and not much cheese at that) - never experienced this before, hope to never try it again. Curries were edible but not enjoyable, the pilau rice was more plain rice with with a few dabs of food colouring and slimey - it wasn't eaten!! BEWARE!!!
