Spice Corner in West Oxfordshire

Hello - well let me start by saying i never really leave reviews and i never want to be the person who comes across negative- food business is tough - but hold on because here it comes we arrived late in the beautiful Chipping Norton and looking for a place to sit and eat five hungry people after travelling for hours - Spice Of India 🇮🇳 was open three other people in there - lets take a chance after choosing our food the owner who certainly kept popping out from nowhere ( undermining a very nervous staff member) tried to force a starter on one off us with the line “ its very cheap” the staff were extremely erratic/ nervous - my partner asked for a drink sorry dont have those okay just a sparkling water out came the bottle place on the table no sparkling just this still 🙃 really its an indian Faulty Towers everyone of us could not believe no matter what the curry was we choose tasted like a bowl of sugar so so so sweet - my family member also mentioned the Coke had a greasy film on it ? - the worse curry weve all ever eaten ( and i have been to some very off track interesting places around the world) - now the final piece i found very odd/ and funny the boss reappears when its time to pay we will spilt the bill in half so £40 each he then says so £45 £45 almost shouting no £40 as the bill reads - then gives my nephew a piece of paper with write a review 🙃 So should be renamed The NOSPICE OF INDIA and i am seriously thinking of writting a comedy series based on this anyone want to join in … If you love LED RED LIGHTS - CANDY FLOSS CURRIES - and very erratic service and then told to tip this has your name all over it …

Lovely little restaurant, food was delicious, service great, friendly staff. We wasn’t sure what we wanted to eat while visiting the area, glad we chose Spice of India, thank you for a lovely meal!

We ordered a takeaway from here. Got it home and it was the most blandest curry I've ever had, it was supposed to be a Chicken Madras, we also had a Prawn Madras, both had no soice or heat to them at all, quite disappointed to be honest. Will not use again sorry

The food was so delicious. We came in for a late night dinner/ take away after a long day of travelling it was just what we needed. They do delivery within 3 miles and 10% off for online pick up which is great. The food was so flavourful, well prepared and generous portions! We had the vindaloo, biriyani, mixed platter for two and some sides. Thankyou to Nas and Shipul for looking after us. Wouldn’t miss it if you’re looking for delicious Indian food in the area. - Danielle and Rikard

Food was ok (Beer was actually very nice) The chef came out after about 2 mins of us eating asking us to leave a review which was strange. The waiter was also too busy on his phone to take our order which was annoying. Average at best

Great tasting food and service, I would definitely recommend if you are in this area. As a Yorkshireman with great Indian restaurants this would be in my top 5

The food cooked by Nas the owner and the chef was simply beautiful our starters and main were cooked to perfection, everyone needs to take a visit to this restaurant if you have not already.

Australian ( Tasmania ) travellers stopping in Chipping Norton for the night. Came across this little restaurant and checked out the reviews on trip adviser. We had the best meal !! Had the Monday special and it was so much we couldn’t eat it all! If we ever come back to this part of the world we would definitely come back to this restaurant. Staff were very friendly. We just had dinner at the Spice of India in Chipping Norton. The food was very tasty and service was excellent. Very friendly waiter. It was a very nice meal after a dreadful England performance in the Euros!

7 of us visited as we were staying locally for the Cheltenham Festival. We had booked but probably wasn't necessary. Pickle tray/starters/mains/2 or 3 drinks worked out at £33.00 each with a tip. Thought this was reasonable as I would expect to pay this at home (further north). The food was great for most of us. Maybe a couple of niggles around personal preferences but normally great. More than one of our party had previous issues with other indian restaurants on the Cheltenham trips, and their reviews/experiences have become iconic tales for the rest of us. Just a quick note on the service. It was a little disjointed with the mains, and I would hope they could address this in the future. Give this place a try!

A friendly, quite intimate Indian restaurant. Food was delicious, but spicier than average, so don't order anything too hot for you!

We were visiting Chipping Norton just one night. We decided to try this restaurant and it was very good. Our food was excellent. We had a lamb madras and a lamb dansak. Poppadoms were fresh and warm. We would visit again if in the area.

Visiting out of town, found this great little Indian restaurant, none of that flashy bright coloured food just nicely cooked tasty honest food with homely vibes, felt like we were invited round for dinner. Owners are polite, attentive and happy to answer questions and chat....

A 'must visit' when staying in 'Chippy'. Excellent food and service. First class tandoori chicken and lamb balti. The coconut peshawari nan was outstanding. The complementary liqueurs are always appreciated. Fully recommended.
