Loved popping in to this gem in the Cairngorms. Had a delicious lunch and loved sitting in the cosy restaurant looking out into garden center. The little shop is all ready for Halloween and Christmas so was tempted to buy a few bits and bobs and should never have gone into the good market. Such tasty Italian biscuits and goodies. A really lovely place for afternoon lunch

We stopped off here for lunch when heading north. The restaurant has a wide choice. We decided on the soup and sandwich deal which was excellent value. A bowl of delicious vegetable soup and freshly made sandwiches. The staff were friendly and helpful also making an effort to clear tables and clean them as customers left. The shop has a variety of good quality products and a small garden centre. The one disappointment was when I asked at the till in the shop for a paper bag or paper to keep my purchase safe on the journey, it was very reluctantly given. This was a pity having experienced such pleasant service in the restaurant.

I have regularly visited previously for the heather and the clootie dumpling. However on this holiday we called for breakfast and a mooch around the gifts and plants. There were six of us, all having something different, the staff were patient and friendly. The food arrived very quickly and we all thought it was lovely. Great choices on the menu and something for everyone. Will definitely be back, thank you all

Went here today for lunch for the first time, the visitor Center is lovely with some nice nick naks and the garden Center quaint. The cafe itself was nice however the food itself not so great, I ordered the panini which clearly hadn’t been put in a press just appeared to have been warmed in the oven, ate half left the rest as wasn’t much to be desired for and certainly not worth almost £10.

I was part of a group of 9 cyclists who stopped for lunch in the cafe/restaurant, and the food and service were excellent. The centre was clean and tidy, and the staff in the restaurant were friendly and efficient. Stopped at the new Centre enroute to Aviemore to visit family. First time we've been there for over a year due to lockdown etc. This was our first coffee and meal out since Pandemic started and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to see it rebuilt since the fire and everything was just right! Food and drink was excellent, as was the service and it was a joy to sit outside in the sun. Will definitely be returning, next time we head to Aviemore.

Thank you to all at the Speyside Centre for making our wedding day so special. All of our family and friends travelled from England to this perfect little venue and everyone couldn’t speak highly enough of the service and the surroundings. Craig and Katrina made sure the our day went to plan and nothing was too much trouble. The ceremony was held in the whiskey lounge which was the perfect set up and easy accessible with a lift for those who couldn’t make the stairs. Covid restrictions were adhered too and everyone who attended felt safe. If you decide to get married in this hidden little gem then I would highly recommend the canapés for your guests afterwards… they were delicious We cannot express how beautiful our day was and we would all travel the distance to the Speyside Centre to do it all again. Thank you to all the friendly staff at the centre and for making us all feel welcome in the Highlands ❤️

After a year of self isolation my wife and I were eventually free to visit our niece in Aviemore. During visit we went back to Speyside Centre to see how extension works were going. The extensions were finished and in use. Went for a walk round but decided to have lunch - best idea of the day. The food was delicious, especially the tomato & red pepper soup - to die for. The property is well laid out, with very healthy looking plants. Well worth a visit, and owners are to be commended for their perseverence in finishing the extension.

I visited last Sunday on my way home from Buckie to Hamilton. Had been looking forward to visiting after such a long while. Encountered a very rude female at the check out in the restaurant, which was then followed by below average food. It was clear the chips were reheats, salmon fish cakes very dry and tasteless, my husband had the macaroni cheese and said he'd had better out of a tin...very disappointing experience was expecting better.

Stopped off at the Speyside Centre for lunch today. Can I say I'm really impressed with what's been done here. I hadn't been this way for many years. There's been a lot of work done and it looks great! HOWEVER, we're in the midst of a pandemic, and I applaud businesses who have adapted and are welcoming people back. I felt very uneasy here though. There was little in the way of 'management' of customers arriving at the cafe. Some two meter distancing signs on the floor, and a desk at which to sign up for track and trace, but no monitoring of complaince whatsoever. It was a 'free for all' in the self service queue, rather that customers being managed and orders taken. Ordered food and sat down, but saw customers hanging around chatting for 15-20 mins maybe at self service counter hanging over onto the dining area. I am really pleased to see people 'out and about' but this was not acceptable during a pandemic. This looked like a cafe set up pre-pandemic. the only difference was most people were wearing masks,,,,, no social distancing, no 2 meter distancing. People just milling about. No complaints about the food, but its not worth getting covid for.....

it made me very sad to visit this now garden centre/cafe , my memories of a heather museum with interesting facts of heather use etc from years ago are now that, memories, and as far as clootie dumplings go, gone are the wee women scooting out of the kitchen with "their own " recipe to rival each other now a wafer thin slice of Aldis best, very very sad as as I had looked forward [ and drove well over 100 miles ] to experience fresh home cooked dumplings and ended up in a mini Dobbies

Lovely comfy outdoor furniture with a large parasol overlooking the garden centre plants. The grandsons enjoyed playing in the play area and I was pleased to see that the little antiques hut has been retained. The gifts available in the shop have been pared down from what I remember but I think this is an improvement as the whole area has a nice open, light feel now. Visited while travelling south while on holiday. The heather centre is amazing. Considering they are in the process of recovering from a devastating fire it is still very much worth a visit. The range of heathers available for sale is impressive, along with hundreds of other items. PLEASE do not lose the quirkiness of your layout in your refurbishment, the joy of wandering round your vast area, with the scattering of curious antiques, is a pure joy! The children had a great time too, with the play area and lots of wildlife to see. Unfortunately we live a couple of hundred miles away so won't get the chance to visit in the near future. The cafe/coffee shop is understandably somewhat restricted due to the re-building in process, but, nevertheless, is delightful, with a good range of hot and cold food available. I found out that Speyside Heather Centre had some and we headed for the centre arriving five minutes before they were due to close. The pre-packaged Clootie Dumplings were too large for my customer, so the staff went to the trouble of making four smaller Clooties, pasteurised them, vacuum packed, and gift wrapped them, all after they were supposed to have closed for the day.

I and my husband and one of our adult sons have been staying in this area for four years running and have passed this place many times. We had long been intrigued by the "clootie dumplings" which are its speciality; with the weather yesterday being suitably chilly and wet, we decided that the time had come to try them. The place is at something of a disadvantage at the moment with the construction of its new building still not completed, so for the time being the tea room is squeezed into the back of the gift shop. However there are plenty of tables and the atmosphere is cosy and homely and very welcome on a wet Highland day. The staff are also very welcoming and efficient. We opted for a full lunch. I and my husband each had a tasty bowl of carrot and coriander soup accompanied in my case by a delicious home baked cheese scone and in his by a generous bacon sandwich; our son opted for a baked potato with cheese and onion which arrived deconstructed and was OK but in future he would go for the sandwich and soup combo. The highlight was the clootie dumpling dessert. These come in a variety of different service options; I went for "Old Nostalgic" being with rum butter and cream, our son went for "Grannie's Treat" being with custard, and my husband went for the "Rob Roy" with cream, ice cream, butterscotch sauce and flaked almonds. Clootie dumpling can be best described as a cross between Christmas cake and Christmas pudding; our son has never been a fan of these, but liked clootie dumpling so much that we bought a large one to take home for Christmas. We also had a pot of tea between us - which comes with free refills if you need them. All told the cost (without the take home pudding) came to about £40 which we felt was good value. We really enjoyed ourselves and can heartily recommend this place. We also wish it well for the future and with its move into its new premises. (I should add that we did also take a look at the garden centre and children's play area which both looked fine to us.)

While still recovering from a devastating fire, the staff were friendly and helpful. The second-hand shop had some interesting finds. Enjoyed seeing many varieties of plants.

My wife and myself visited the center last week for a coffee and cake at their temporary cafe and shop. The selection of cakes are very good and they still do cloottie dumpling. After the devastating fire they had last year they have still survived and waiting for go ahead to start building the new centre. The staff have stayed friendly and positive throughout. You can still buy a selection of Heathers and flower bulbs etc. Worth a visit

Have driven passed many times as the signs on the main road suggest something over-hyped Scottish Tourist Board-experience. We found it quite different. A small, friendly business (readjusting to the major setback of a destructive fire), with a great outlook. They undersell themselves on their advertising both on the web and locally. Let the world know you cater for gluten-free, diary-free diets for example! Lovely cafe, plants and garden stuff. Best wishes for the rebuilding and we will be back

We hadn't been here in years so as we were in the area we decided to have lunch here. There were 3 choices of soup, lots of sandwich choices and baked potatoes plus they had stovies on the menu.

My partner and children came here for a lunch pit stop. I could not find the cafe initially...but realise that due to a tragic fire they are making do in a small shop. It is beju and i was very conscious of the noise my kiddies make. We sat at a table that had dirty plates and glasses...i was starting to feel a bit stressed as there was nowhere to put them and all the other tables were occupied. The food we had was okay..and the cakes looked lovely with a large selection of baked goods and traybakes. There was a kiddies play area which my kids loved with the lovely little wooden house...it was just to wet to fully enjoy unfortunately. Overall a bit tired looking, but this may be due to the works happening. I would revisit to try again once the renovations are completed - as potential to be very special. Good luck to them.

Called in today along with a coach load of passengers. I visited last year just after the devastating fire that took out the main building. We were made very welcome last year and even had soup made for a lunch. Today I popped back in with a lot of friends to see how things were progressing. The determination of this family and the spirit behind the staff working there to recover this business is to be praised! They made us all feel welcome, we had lovely coffee/tea and cake. The area for children has had a really lovely log wall built. The Antique shed has been upgraded and all antiques are half price. The area has been cleared where the fire was, the place is slowly getting back on its feet. The birds are plenty and a joy to watch. Well done and thank you for the warm welcome and service we all received from you today. I wish you every success with the rebuild and will certainly be visiting you again.

We visit the Larder each summer on our west coast trips. We opted for two savoury and two sweet pies to takeaway. One smoked haddock and cheese sauce, one chicken and haggis with sauce, one peach and apricot and one apple and blackcurrant. The smoked haddock pie was amazing, the best ever. The pastry was lovely too. I’ll definitely keep my eye out for this tasty pie on future visits. The chicken and haggis pie was lovely too, both pies moist and packed with filling, great sauces in them. I’m not keen on sweet pies but we enjoyed them too. The peach and apricot pie was perfect for me. Price wise the savoury pies are about right for the weight. No shortage of fish and meat in them.

A star on the north coast and a must visit. Gorgeous views over the Kyle from the outside seating. Family run with great service and great chat, the food was fantastic. We had lunch and had to add the sundae to celebrate the sunny day.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

Dirty tables. Dirty menus. My daughter was served a mouldy panini. Cheese in panini was plastic. Very dry tasteless cheese scone. Drinks not too bad.

It was such a pleasure to visit this cafe and a welcome contrast to the pre-paid accommodation ran by some racketeer at Ivy Cottage. We took one look at what was on offer and fled to next ferry to Mallaig. I went to school in Inverie in 1948- 49. when the priest had an affair with our teacher. He wnt on to become bishop of the Westrn Isles while she became an un-married mother
