Stopped at the new Centre enroute to Aviemore to visit family. First time we've been there for over a year due to lockdown etc. This was our first coffee and meal out since Pandemic started and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to see it rebuilt since the fire and everything was just right! Food and drink was excellent, as was the service and it was a joy to sit outside in the sun. Will definitely be returning, next time we head to Aviemore.

Thank you to all at the Speyside Centre for making our wedding day so special. All of our family and friends travelled from England to this perfect little venue and everyone couldn’t speak highly enough of the service and the surroundings. Craig and Katrina made sure the our day went to plan and nothing was too much trouble. The ceremony was held in the whiskey lounge which was the perfect set up and easy accessible with a lift for those who couldn’t make the stairs. Covid restrictions were adhered too and everyone who attended felt safe. If you decide to get married in this hidden little gem then I would highly recommend the canapés for your guests afterwards… they were delicious We cannot express how beautiful our day was and we would all travel the distance to the Speyside Centre to do it all again. Thank you to all the friendly staff at the centre and for making us all feel welcome in the Highlands ❤️

After a year of self isolation my wife and I were eventually free to visit our niece in Aviemore. During visit we went back to Speyside Centre to see how extension works were going. The extensions were finished and in use. Went for a walk round but decided to have lunch - best idea of the day. The food was delicious, especially the tomato & red pepper soup - to die for. The property is well laid out, with very healthy looking plants. Well worth a visit, and owners are to be commended for their perseverence in finishing the extension.

I visited last Sunday on my way home from Buckie to Hamilton. Had been looking forward to visiting after such a long while. Encountered a very rude female at the check out in the restaurant, which was then followed by below average food. It was clear the chips were reheats, salmon fish cakes very dry and tasteless, my husband had the macaroni cheese and said he'd had better out of a tin...very disappointing experience was expecting better.

Stopped off at the Speyside Centre for lunch today. Can I say I'm really impressed with what's been done here. I hadn't been this way for many years. There's been a lot of work done and it looks great! HOWEVER, we're in the midst of a pandemic, and I applaud businesses who have adapted and are welcoming people back. I felt very uneasy here though. There was little in the way of 'management' of customers arriving at the cafe. Some two meter distancing signs on the floor, and a desk at which to sign up for track and trace, but no monitoring of complaince whatsoever. It was a 'free for all' in the self service queue, rather that customers being managed and orders taken. Ordered food and sat down, but saw customers hanging around chatting for 15-20 mins maybe at self service counter hanging over onto the dining area. I am really pleased to see people 'out and about' but this was not acceptable during a pandemic. This looked like a cafe set up pre-pandemic. the only difference was most people were wearing masks,,,,, no social distancing, no 2 meter distancing. People just milling about. No complaints about the food, but its not worth getting covid for.....

Visited while travelling south while on holiday. The heather centre is amazing. Considering they are in the process of recovering from a devastating fire it is still very much worth a visit. The range of heathers available for sale is impressive, along with hundreds of other items. PLEASE do not lose the quirkiness of your layout in your refurbishment, the joy of wandering round your vast area, with the scattering of curious antiques, is a pure joy! The children had a great time too, with the play area and lots of wildlife to see. Unfortunately we live a couple of hundred miles away so won't get the chance to visit in the near future. The cafe/coffee shop is understandably somewhat restricted due to the re-building in process, but, nevertheless, is delightful, with a good range of hot and cold food available. I found out that Speyside Heather Centre had some and we headed for the centre arriving five minutes before they were due to close. MORE AT TripAdvisor

I and my husband and one of our adult sons have been staying in this area for four years running and have passed this place many times. We had long been intrigued by the "clootie dumplings" which are its speciality; with the weather yesterday being suitably chilly and wet, we decided that the time had come to try them. The place is at something of a disadvantage at the moment with the construction of its new building still not completed, so for the time being the tea room is squeezed into the back of the gift shop. However there are plenty of tables and the atmosphere is cosy and homely and very welcome on a wet Highland day. The staff are also very welcoming and efficient. We opted for a full lunch. I and my husband each had a tasty bowl of carrot and coriander soup accompanied in my case by a delicious home baked cheese scone and in his by a generous bacon sandwich; our son opted for a baked potato with cheese and onion which arrived deconstructed and was OK but in future he would go for the sandwich and soup combo. The highlight was the clootie dumpling dessert. These come in a variety of different service options; I went for "Old Nostalgic" being with rum butter and cream, our son went for "Grannie's Treat" being with custard, and my husband went for the "Rob Roy" with cream, ice cream, butterscotch sauce and flaked almonds. Clootie dumpling can be best described as a cross between Christmas cake and Christmas pudding; our son has never been a fan of these, but liked clootie dumpling so much that we bought a large one to take home for Christmas. We also had a pot of tea between us - which comes with free refills if you need them. All told the cost (without the take home pudding) came to about £40 which we felt was good value. We really enjoyed ourselves and can heartily recommend this place. We also wish it well for the future and with its move into its new premises. (I should add that we did also take a look at the garden centre and children's play area which both looked fine to us.)

We hadn't been here in years so as we were in the area we decided to have lunch here. There were 3 choices of soup, lots of sandwich choices and baked potatoes plus they had stovies on the menu.

My partner and children came here for a lunch pit stop. I could not find the cafe initially...but realise that due to a tragic fire they are making do in a small shop. It is beju and i was very conscious of the noise my kiddies make. We sat at a table that had dirty plates and glasses...i was starting to feel a bit stressed as there was nowhere to put them and all the other tables were occupied. The food we had was okay..and the cakes looked lovely with a large selection of baked goods and traybakes. There was a kiddies play area which my kids loved with the lovely little wooden house...it was just to wet to fully enjoy unfortunately. Overall a bit tired looking, but this may be due to the works happening. I would revisit to try again once the renovations are completed - as potential to be very special. Good luck to them.

Called in today along with a coach load of passengers. I visited last year just after the devastating fire that took out the main building. We were made very welcome last year and even had soup made for a lunch. Today I popped back in with a lot of friends to see how things were progressing. The determination of this family and the spirit behind the staff working there to recover this business is to be praised! They made us all feel welcome, we had lovely coffee/tea and cake. The area for children has had a really lovely log wall built. The Antique shed has been upgraded and all antiques are half price. The area has been cleared where the fire was, the place is slowly getting back on its feet. The birds are plenty and a joy to watch. Well done and thank you for the warm welcome and service we all received from you today. I wish you every success with the rebuild and will certainly be visiting you again.

This was part of a coach trip. We went even though it had burnt down. The driver said it was on the scheduled and he had to go. There was a cafe with one proper toilet and a portaloo. There was an "antiques shop" with a range of old stuff.

We always head for the Heather Centre, when we're on holiday in the area. My husband likes their clootie dumplings! Sadly there was a fire there in 2016, and the place is still being rebuilt. That said, there is still a small cafe area, a shop, and a garden centre, and most importantly, clootie dumplings. They haven't changed, and we had a nice time sitting outside with our food. The scone I had was very nice too. You can sit inside, although there isn't much room, and besides, we had our dog with us. You might be lucky and see a red squirrel as we did. We will return - we'll be interested to see the new building in the future.

Have visited before the devastating fire, now on a smaller scale while they rebuild but cafe still great - delicious clootie dumpling, did not disappoint my father in law who missed out last year when the centre was closed. Still have wee shop area and antique area as well as garden centre plants for sale. Looked like fun play area for kids too. Saw red squirrels and small birds from cafe! Worth a visit for clootie dumpling if passing or in area!

I have visited here on many occasions whilst in holidaying in the area over the years and this was our first visit after the devastating fire they suffered last year, they are still operating and we had a lovely soup and bread lunch in their cafe it is so sad to see but it warms the heart to see such dedication. It's still worth a look even as it is the new plans look great and I'm sure it will have a successful future.

First visit since the fire so didn't know what to expect. It was marvellous: small cosy, comfortable cafe area with gifts for sale. A plant shop and other areas we didn't have time to look at. Our stovies and victoria sponge were so tasty. The staff were lovely and even pointed out a red squirrel outside.I know they have great plans for the future but please don't spoil the warm, friendly atmosphere there is at the moment.

What a nice surprise! In search of the famous Granny Clootie dumpling we were dismayed to find the place looking a bit sorry for itself. This turned out to be the result of a devastating fire last year. Undeterred the owners have a rebuild underway and operating from temporary premises in the meantime. The small tea room come gift shop had a nice homely feel to it but the nicest part was the friendliness of the lady who served us and of the owner. The main delight for us was to sample the clootie dumpling, available in a multitude of options. With custard, or more extravagant toppings, all were superb, a real treat and something different. Also tea in proper cups and saucers, teapot and sugar cubes! Also coffee in a little pot giving two cups, that's nice! The owner, Betty, went into great detail explaining how to make the dumpling so we can try it when we get back home. Obviously this place is currently not as it will be in the future, but the determination to get back to where they were is evident and they are doing a brilliant job in difficult circumstances This was a lovely stop for a cuppa and a treat!

Didn't get to stop here last year when we were in the area so made sure we visited here early in our stay this year. The area they have newly built looks great and we will certainly be interested to see again next year when the rebuild works are further on. Nice areas for wildlife although some of it looks a bit neglected - could do with a bit of tidying up and weeding given that they are a plant centre they couldDo with using some plants in their pots rather than the weeds that seem to have taken over. The top area looks great with a lovely play area made me wish I was 5 again ! And the golden gravel is lush and the plant sales area well stocked with fresh looking plants. Cafe is lovely with an outside terrace so that you can watch the birds and squirrels - lovely staff and great coffee and cakes. Will certainly come back again.

Stopped here for lunch whilst on holiday in the local area, sad to hear about the fire, but the tea room and gift shop they currently have is still worth a visit. Staff were so lovely and helpful, couldn't have been nicer to us. We had bagels with cream cheese, sundried tomatoes and spinach, absolutely delicious! They kindly made a cream cheese sandwich for my 9 month old baby boy who devoured it! Cakes also delicious. Can't wait to return in the future to see how the new place will look.

we 1st went to this centre in 2014 (thought it was last Feb, that's how quickly time passes!) and really liked it, lovely gift items, all manner of bird feeds, just a really well stocked family run store, naturally, when we were in the area last week we called in again, was so sad to see that a fire had destroyed the centre last April which has obviously devastated the family, but they are rebuilding. If you plan on visiting, please still go as there is a small cafe in operation and some gift items including Harris tweed and lovely jewelry. We look forward to visiting again in the future and wish the family well.
