Nice Wetherspoons pub located in town centre of Chesterfield. Fairly modern interior which was clean and tidy. Nice and bright. Friendly helpful staff.

Called in for breakfast before we caught the train. The pub was really busy with Chesterfield fans, despite this we got served quite quickly. I ordered the eggs benedict and the wife had the traditional breakfast, again despite how busy it was the food arrived with out too much wait. I really enjoyed my eggs as did the wife with her breakfast, including drinks roughly about £12, excellent value for money. Well done Spoons.

Unbelievable rude male member of staff, slammed food down on tables, mouthing off at customers even bar staff looked shocked at his behavior. Has been forward onto area manager.

Absolutely first class place, this is a brilliant example of art deco heritage being preserved by Wetherspoons. Well done them! Spotlessky clean, great friendly service and freshly cooked food. Staff here are excellent. What is not to like! Well recommended for any stay in Chesterfield and central too.

Met up for breakfast Sunday morning and it wasn’t too busy so got a choice of tables. I had the traditional breakfast at £4.60 with basically 1 of everything except 2 hash browns and a slice of toast which was nice but just warm enough to eat so would of been better if hot. We opted for the hot drinks with free refills at £1.35 each all of which we ordered off the app saving queuing time.

Tables and chairs filthy went to bar on Wednesday night the Bar staff man is incredibly rude and lies to his manager about what’s been said. Manager himself again is rude and arrogant he doesn’t want to help you. Makes your feel uncomfortable while eating with your family.

We use Spa Lane often, as we do with most Spoons. Yesterday Sunday was somewhat different in Spa Lane. The tables were noticeably dirty, one table had several plates of uneaten food left on it, it remained for most of the time we were in and we stopped for about 2 hours. The two bar staff, I've not seen before were un interested and clearly miserable, what has happened to what was and should be a good pub. I know spoons aren't known for their hygiene but yesterday's visit was disappointing.

Slightly quieter than the Portland and not quite as big but still has it's fair share of weirdos and believe you me, there are plenty of those in Chesterfield. Extensive choice of drinks and as you would expect from JDW, reasonably priced. Good selection of real ales but it is hit and miss, whether or not you get a good pint. Some of the staff have a tendency to slam your pint down on the table, spilling what little head was on the beer in the first place. There is nothing worse than a flat pint. I love the ordering by app from your table. It's a vast improvement from endless queuing at the bar. Sadly the usual bum numbingly uncomfortable seats let this and all Wetherspoons I have so far come across, down.

It's a Spoons, don't expect too much. Portions tend to be small, although we'll cooked and presented. I had the all-day brunch. Filling and wholesome. The carpets were in need of good debris being removed off them. Par for the course at this chain. Overall, if you're not too fuss, good cheap meals and endless coffee.

Disgraceful try and tell a landlady that they can only dispense coke mixer in a half pint mixer, wrong people this will go further Double malibu and coke I think not

Nice pub, typical Wetherspoon’s really, staff could of been a little more personable but they were busy.

We moved from Nottingham to Chesterfield,as an “W” supporter, we visit Bolsover branch three times , this in city 1st time . Clean & Nice , good location. Only short wait for ours breakfast , look similar as usual, but while start eating, both of us feel like dine in IKEA !! Taste so flat.. Bean & egg in cool , boiling bacon.. will return for lunch or dinner , hopefully will happy dining . Sorry for low start…

been here many times over the years but first time today Thurs 7th oct 2021 since Feb 2020. Wasnt too busy and found a table ok. familiar with menu and we ordered Sirloin Steaks. Drinks were included in the price. the food was lovely, the service was very customer focussed, well done that place

Spot on breakfast. Doesn't matter that the staff are robotic the food is great. Classic spoons never seems to change. You come, you eat, you go, you come back again in the future regardless of where you are in the country, that's how a good chain runs. Owner of the business might be a selfish mop headed cretin with zero staff values but hopefully that will be sorted eventually.

You enter and everything seems fine. You clearly are breaking the law by letting people from as many as 5 households sitting around a table boozing. I know these people so I know it's true. So thankyou for the latest lockdown Mr Wetherspoons.

First stopped and demanded that we wear masks and huffed when shown our exemption status (not happy that have to explain my disability to strangers) then found a table to be told we couldnt sit there because it only had 4 chairs and there were 4 adults and a 9 year old. Had an offer from another tabke that was for 6 but only 2 people sat at it to change tables and told it wasnt allowed. What an absolute load of crap, must be that they can afford to lose custom because certainly wont be going back in and no end of tables for 6 and for with just 1 person sat at them. I get its stupid covid restrictions but really poor management and space management

I went to this pub for a drink, it was busy at the time, there was a good selection of drinks at reasonable prices, recommended.

The seat Out To Help Out scheme was obviously on during August and I came to this particular Spoons several times for the crazy low price of food. Came after gym sessions, came in the evenings with friends, came on dates, the place was so physically packed because of the scheme and I was repeatedly one of them.But the staff did a perfect job of keeping it all in order. The door staff didn’t keep anyone waiting long, the food was still fast to arrive, and lovely, and the front of house staff were all over it.Had to post something to thank you guys for being so good throughout August, I know it can’t have been easy

As usual a very busy pub although when you order food it does not take long to appear on your table.Very good value for money but more staff would shorten the time waiting at the bar.That said I would still call again.

We love a Wetherspoons and still think the food and drink is great value. However, we think this one is poor because all the menus were grubby, tables sticky, etc The Matlock one was much better.

Four people for lunch one of these people were young and in a wheelchair and only able to eat blended food. So I ordered my young friend a larger child's meal. I spoke to a lovely young man behind the bar and we decided upon the sausage mash and beans meal but minus the sausage. And went for a sprinkle of cheese. The food came and there was the smallest scoop of mash on a large plate with beans and a teaspoon of cheese.I hardly ever complain usually the opposite. With a giggle and in good spirits I took the plate to the bar. The nice young man asked if everything was ok I showed him the plate and said there wasn't enough to make a meal especially the bigger appetite one at more cost. He understood straight away and all I asked for was another scoop of mash.The manager came up and said no!The nice young man tried to explain about no sausages on the meal. He still said no!In shock I asked again he said No.Wow unbelievable.Last week at the Burlington. I ordered mash . Mushy peas and gravy. They Broughton it all out in separate dishes plenty Of.And made it look lovely.Spa Lane Vaults. What is your problem

Exactly what you expect from a wetherspoons, decent cheap food and nicely done out interior. We sent for breakfast so just had coffee, there was the usual bar fly's drinking beer at 10 am though (wouldn't be the same without them would it?).

Came in with my girlfriend to order food as we had been out shopping and the weather was miserable. I ordered a BBQ chicken pizza with pepperoni added (extra £1) charge. When it came out the employee called my pizza a spicy meat feast (not what I ordered as I am allergic to tomato) we complained politely to be told they couldn’t change the pizza. When I asked for a refund I was told no as I have been given what I ordered. The employee was also saying all of this with a grin on his face. If you order from here I hope they get it right or you will be labelled a liar and stared at by all staff members like you should be ashamed that you wanted what you’ve ordered. The order cost me £10 and all I could consume was the pint or cider that I ordered.

Been here several times.As always the food is excellent. It's not a la carte ,as it belongs to a big company. The service is excellent & staff are friendly & efficient.The prices of both food & drink are very reasonable.& a lot of meals even include a drink in the price.This establishment is suitable for people with pushchairs /wheelchairs or limited mobility as all flat.we can highly recommend the large mixed grill.i wouldnt hesitate to recomend this place to anyone.

When we go out for the day we almost always lunch at Wetherspoons as we know that the quality of food is consistent in every establishment. Our food can surprisingly quickly considering how busy it was and the only reason I have not given excellent s that a waitress passed every table in the lower half of the place to ask if she could take our salt. i said we would need it bringing back for our own food, but it never came back and my husband had to then go and look for some more.

Quite busy for any early evening, but service at the bar was quick. Ordered via the app, and again service is fast. Server must have been new, but couldn't find the table, not a problem. Food was okay, eggs were rock hard, peas were bland no condiments were offered, cutlery was clean ,but sharp knife and a fork that would not go through a baked potato is a bit sad. All in all a good pub plenty of atmosphere,just I had a few niggles, I'm sure it won't happen again.

It's a Wetherspoons. As regular users of this pub chain we visited the Spa Lane Vaults for a meal prior to a theatre visit. Whilst the menu throughout the chain are standarised there is something for everyone and the food is normally of a good quality. This turned out to be the case here also, the food was served in good time, was hot and enjoyable.

We visited Saturday lunch. It was very busy but we were very disappointed with the table it was so dirty and the menus were covered in old food and sticky. When we asked for the table to be cleaned it was cleaned with a dirty cloth. It seemed as though there was not enough staff on. On the upside the food was very nice. Steak was cooked really well but disappointed the salad only had lettuce leafs no tomatoes cucumber or onion!!!

As usual it’s October and no warmth in this place, got air con blowing the Halloween decorations about while you sit and eat a barely warm breakfast. I suppose it’s what you get for the price

When I say "Usual Wetherspoons Value" this is a compliment. At the Spa the prices for food and drink are incredibly good value. Usually pop in for a cooked breakfast, a coffee and a pint. Quality is good and the service is friendly and efficient. The Spa provides just what I want.

Had a Friday night in here, had drinks and food with friends used the app to find it and order our refreshments. It’s an old favourite Wetherspoons you know what you are going to get 👍👍👍👍

This Wetherspoon is efficient and fast with great food. The pasta alfredo is my new favorite meal - love it!

Visited this particular pub a couple of times. We can't fault the staff as everyone we interacted with were smiley and friendly, they also kept going around and cleaning tables which is good. The days we visited, were quite quiet days, so ordering and receiving food and drinks (through the app) came fairly quick. The food we had on our visits with their rating as followed were:

We had been travelling for four hours, booked into our hotel and went in search of a late lunch. We came across Spa Lane on our way up into the city, it looked fairly busy so we decided to go in. I went to the bar to order our food and drinks and was served by a lovely young man called Jack, he was poilte and attentive and a credit to the company! The food was good, so were the drinks, I have been quite shocked at some of the comments on here as they bear no resemblance to the experience we had!

Overall good food and quick service. Meal was very tasty. Nice atmosphere for family and reasonable cost. Highly recommend

Went in for drinks on a night out. Very busy large pub with plenty of buzz and atmosphere. The outside seating area was also nice in the last of the sun.

First time visiting and can guarantee will be the last. Ordered 3 meals including the cottage pie. Blatantly obvious this was warmed up in a microwave and not cooked fresh. The ham, egg and chips included ham out of a packet, probably bought from nearby Tesco's and again simply warmed up to serve. The bangers n mash were only Luke warm. They obviously do not employ a chef. Service with a smile was non existent, the staff obviously hate their jobs. What a shambles of a bar/restaurant. AVOID!

A group of my police officer colleagues were just in there earlier on our day off having lunch.

Just ordered pancake with maple syrup and blueberries and blueberries were extra cost. I only received 10 and 2 were moldy. Pancakes were hard and I should have sent back it was so bad

We were waiting in the non existent queue for a whole hour, just to get served a pizza and some halloumi fries. When we were EVENTUALLY served the male on the bar did not speak to us in a good manner at all, he basically threw our drinks at us. I find this service disgusting and will NOT be visiting again!

we went here four times over two days. first time was teatime Friday - packed out at 5 pm . next saturday breakfast - packed at 9 am . then for teatime on Saturday then sunday breakfast (this was the quietest time) . wont go to chesterfield at weekends in future . food ok but not exceptional

We visit this pub at least once a week. We used to go to the Portland but the food cleanliness and managers attitude definitely put us off!! The food here is mostly ok and the staff are nice but there doesn’t appear to be enough staff on especially Sunday mornings. The staff are always waiting for cups in the washer and running about but always very friendly

Ordered a classic Tennessee burger today, lovely as always but noticed there was barely enough sauce to cover two chips. I’ve never noticed so little before. I asked a waiter who said ‘it comes out of a packet’, I said ‘that’s quite poor’, he walked off busy serving and that was that. Hardly a Tennessee burger, I used Ketchup for 80% of the meal. Stingy and poorly handled. Sorry.

Stopped off on Saturday evening for a cocktail. it tasted great and the price was very good too. It's always a bit drafty in this pub, so try and choose a seat wisely. Order and deliver to table is very useful. Toilets were clean and very spacious

Cheap as chips, this place is tidy and decent. Food is standard Wetherspoons fare. Good that the give the calorie count for their wide range of pizzas, burgers,vsteaks etc. Coffee is great value, at £1.25 a cup and free refills.

My wife and I called in to this cosy Wetherspoon hostelry as we were shopping in Chesterfield. It was our first visit and we thoroughly enjoyed our fish and chip lunch. Great staff and friendly environment. Keep up the good work!!

My partner and I visited this place about 3-4 years ago and I had a steak there that had been abused by the amount of seasoning it had on it; to the point it was spicy. When I asked about it and brought it up with the waiter at the time, he said it was how Weatherspoon's always do their steaks (which I knew, was a lie as I've dined in many Weatherspoon's).

Okay so it was the first working day after New Year’s Day and the pub was very quiet. As a Single diner I find it helpful to choose my table and then order using the Wetherspoons app on my phone. This means I don’t have to venture to the bar and risk the table. Having placed the order my drink arrived without delay and then a short wait for the food. As it was chicken night I chose the chicken platter. At £8.75 including a drink this is great value and I have chosen this on occasion before when using spoons. It makes a change to be able to report that the whole meal was piping hot and the service was friendly with a couple of check backs to make sure everything was okay.

Mid day meal served by very friendly staff, I had the special which was served hot and tasty. It's nice when food is presented this way.

My fiancée and I visited here hoping we’d have a lovely time, However we did not have a lovely time. Our friend said she would send us some drinks via the Wetherspoons app. The first drink came out and the waiter was very nice and friendly , however the second waiter was not. He was very rude and argued with me saying he’s not bringing anymore drinks out, he said it in a very rude and aggressive manor, I am highly disappointed and I will not be returning.

We arrived at 10.30am Saturday morning and there were only a few spare tables. Unfortunately the aircon was on (in November, why?) so there was a terrible cold draft coming from behind us. I asked it this could be adjusted but it couldn't, so we ate our food in our coats and scarf. The food itself was top quality, we had 2 vegetarian breakfasts and the American pancakes with maple syrup. The service was good too.

My family have been coming here for years, we really enjoy coming on steak night, we came on steak night this week and sat down at our usual table and next to us were four women at a table being very loud shreiking and throwing in the odd F word, our steaks came and they were excellent as usual as was the service, however all through our meal it was accompanied by the increasingly loud shreiking it almost felt like we had intervened in an exagerated laughing competition, we did not complain as it is suposedly a pub and not a chapel of rest or mausoleum, at one stage i went to the bar which was at the other end of the pub and both i and my son could hear the shreiking from there, while my son and i waited for my partner to finish her G and T my son and i started making the wine glasses ring by rotating our fingers on the rim which was about a tenth of the noise we had been subjected to and in very short order a female member of the barstaff came up to stop us making the noise i ponted out to her what we had been listening to all through our meal and the contradiction inherant in her position her response was that she had not heard anything and that i was "being funny", i suspect that had we been female and shouting and swearing in tune with the wine glasses nothing would have been said, we felt that we had been singled out and victimised by this person who appears to have highly selective hearing, she also made a comment about me having good hearing and thats the reason i found the other table loud, it was my son who pointed out i have industrial hearing loss so zero out of ten for disabilty sensetivity, the impression i get is if you are female and extremely loud and foul mouthed then it is a pub, if you are male and over sixty then the place for you is to be as quiet as a morgue. dont be put off by my review the meals and bar and waiting staff service is good, if you are a man go in in carpet slippers and whisper very quietly.

I came to spa lane with my friends for a few drinks and food before going out for a family friends birthday, lovely service at the bar, ordered food through the app like any other time (always have the same order with no worries) and asked a member off staff if the nachos could come without the sauces ( as my body isn’t allowed them) the member of staff went into the back to inform the chefs and the food still came out with all the sauces on. I told the waiter we ordered without, and instead of simply taking it back to swap the order he said he needs to get a manager. The manager Emily came out and spoke very rudely to me saying she can’t change the order now the chef has made it, I made it very clear to the manager Emily that I can’t eat them, I’m not able to! I would if I could to avoid hassle but I genuinely can’t! She said there was nothing she could do or was going to do and insisted that I left after finishing the rest of the food. Me and my friends could not believe the way she spoke to me and how she dealt with the situation, she was very rude and snappy and did not deal with the situation in the correct manner. If Emily can’t correct the simple issues within the restaurant, how is she ever going to be able to deal with the bigger ones? Definitely in need of new management. Awful service.

Visited Saturday tea time. Very busy pub packed with drinkers and diners. Friendly polite and efficient service. Food to normal wetherspoons standard. Only problem encountered was finding a seat or a table that looked and felt clean enough to sit on and eat at.

What can I say five degrees outside and in side the air con is on.. most customers sat with their coats on it was very uncomfortable . Mentioned it to a member of staff they said it was one control and it was left at that. We had to leave due to the uncomfortable temperature come on its the end of October absolutely no need for air con to be on if the staff are hot behind the bar a couple of fans would suffice I'm sure really not a warm place to be on a very cold afternoon.

came in like normal for a usually nice meal unfortunately this is not what I recieved. in unpleasant welcome with rude staff at the bar that just seemed to make ordering a meal and a drink seem like we were asking the world from him. we ordered eventually and sat down at a table with our drinks...a short while after our food arrived and the order was completely wrong.. so we sent it back...not long after the correct meal arrived at our table....unfortunately I had to sent that back because the bacon on my burger was literally fridge cold...safe to say I won't be returning again...

Visited yesterday, no complaints whatsoever. Fantastic experience, as is the case every time.

We went to this Wetherspoons for a meal before the cinema on a Monday evening, so not very busy. When our food came it was only luke-warm (pizza and chili con carne), and the server told me that the sour cream dressing which should have come with the chili was not available. We were not told this when we ordered, only when the food was delivered, and no refund was offered, although I was asked if I would like something else in place of the sour cream - but there is nothing else that is even apporximately the same, is there? Had I known before I placed the order I might have chosen something else.

Spar Lane is the best go-to place in Chesterfield and a place I visit often. Service is fantastic, food quality is always very good and it has the traditional weatherspoons feel to it. Great place to go with family and friends any time of the day. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Chesterfield to drop in and pay Spar lane a visit.

I have no issue with the staff at all but I went in with my family for a meal and a non alcoholic drink and when I went to purchase two non alcoholic drinks for me and my mum I got asked for ID... For non alcoholic drinks.... Its such a joke that me and my family aren't allowed to be in the restaurant as I'm 17, after 8pm as its their "policy" even though we only wanted a meal and non alcoholic drinks. It's such a joke, definitely wouldn't recommend

Popped in for something to eat and service was quick

Service was slow (it took about 40 mins to receive my food). However the peas were delicious and the milk was seasoned to perfection. It's a shame the red onion, ham and chip shop curry sauce never arrived. Jim McDonald

Called in early Saturday evening and it was jammed packed however as we were taxiing our daughter we had time to kill so not a problem time wise. We ordered our meals with drinks and we were served within 15 minutes and the meal was excellent.

If it’s hot when you go in , you will have icicles hanging off your nose when you come out .. the air con is on all the time, people are wearing coats and shivering and the food gets cold quickly ,,, you mention it to staff and they tell you that ‘they are rushing about and to them it’s hot’ , so forget the customers and just get on with it !!

we went in here because it was close to our hotel . twice for breakfast . twice for coffees and one evening meal . the breakfast was excellent , but slightly bemused by people drinking beer and cider at 9 am ! .

Car parking is where you can find it in town centre. Big building so plenty of seats inside and out.

Slightly cramped layout and a tiny beer garden/smoking area. The staff are friendly however and the food is the same as every other Wetherspoons

I've been here several times and have always been pleased with my meal. It's a typical Wetherspoon's menu, covering a wide range of dishes. Great value for money, especially on those dishes which include a drink (soft or alcoholic). Recommended.

We visited here a few times over a two day period. A good selection of food and drinks are available and the staff are helpful. The bar could have been cleaner as the tables were sticky and needed to be wiped clean. A popular pub with locals and can be busy at times.

What do you expect when you go to weatherspoons? I know I am always gonna get good cheap food and drink. Good staff quick to serve. The number of people in says it all. Me and friends always attend before the football on a Saturday for a breakfast which is loads better than the Burlington breakfast btw, and always get great food. Can’t beat it for the price.

Service was very good today. Friendly and helpful staff. Good is of a good quality. We had burgers which tasted great but nothing special. I had the ultimate burger and it was just a basic cheese burger with pickle. Kids portions are a perfect size and they were very happy.

Popped in this pub last Thursday for breakfast. I had a bacon and egg cob and my hubby had a full English... the food was served promptly and it was enjoyable...

No steak left but had fish and chip alternative very hot tasty server very pleasant and attentive to customers would recommend xxxx

We had lunch here on Friday. Most tables were taken and the only available tables were near the doors, so it was very cold when they were opened for people to have a cigarette break. It would be better if they installed a double door porch, to keep the warmth in and stop people getting a blast of cold air when they're trying to enjoy a meal. Our food was delivered promptly and it was very filling and good value for money. I alway forget though, that the food it pretty instant, which is not always a good thing.

Called in Saturday afternoon, it was packed, had few pints of Ruddles & dinner, chicken curry & rice tasted just like you get from Sainsburys which is not a bad thing & Panini & loaded fries, called in again Sunday morning for two full English breakfasts, all good filled an hole.

We had some free time from the kids so thought we pop in and grab a breakfast. It was only 10;30 and there were plenty of people eating and drinking. Ordered from the bar and waited merely 10 mins for our 2 large breakfasts, fresh, hot and worth every penny at a very reasonable £4.99 inc toast with lurpak. The tea and coffee were a bit on the weak side but no real complaints. Had a good hearty breakfast and left contended and full. Thumbs up from me. This was our first time in the pub and it wont be the last !!

Went here with team from work last night and you really can't fault the food and service for the money, well done again Wetherspoons.

good old Wetherspoons you didn't disappoint! quickly found a table and went for burgers - pulled pork and one with cheese and bacon. there are lots of ales and ciders to choose from but we went with soft drinks this time. even though the pub was very busy our food arrived, hot and well cooked, our burgers came with chips and onion rings. the burgers themselves were well seasoned and well cooked - not dry. the chips and onion rings were crispy and not greasy.

Just over the road from St Mary's Church. Yes the one with the famous crooked spire. Typical Wetherspoons establishment with lots of tables and chairs because of their inexpensive food offering. Two manager's specials on the menu today. One beer battered cod and chips with choice of mushy or garden peas at £5.99. The other was mixed grill at £6.99. I went for the fish and chips which were excellent. A reasonable range of real ales and I went for the Milestone Plum Porter (5.1%) at £2.15 a pint. A bargain compared with London prices. Well presented and I could taste the plum. Beer Garden at rear a bit constricted but adequate for smokers.

We are regular visitors to this Wetherspoons when we visit family. It is definitely our go to when we want a quick filling meal on arrival. Special nights are always good, service is friendly and quick, we never have to worry about anything, totally dependable and the food is excellent

This is the best Wetherspoons in Chesterfield (out of the 2 I mean). The staff are friendly and efficient and as always the food is great. I like the layout of it as well and definitely recommend.
