I intended to go but when I called to find they still did not have a toilet we could use I gave up in DESPAIR. I used to love going here, especially as they made such a good attempt at vegan comfort food like toad in the hole. A friend went recently...still no toilet. My Mum is 97...we are not walking with the rollator to the public toilets a good 15 min walk away.

Overpriced. Bacon not cooked properly, fried egg rock hard, the toast was ok though. £22 plus was a total rip off, would avoid, there are much better choices around

Based on reviews from 2020 and 2022 we thought we would give this cafe a try for lunch. So glad we did! Staff were friendly and helpful. The cafe was clean and tidy with an extensive menu to choose from. For me, the tuna melt toasty was to die for!!!

Really sorry to say that this was a disappointing visit. A beautiful sunny day for a spot of lunch with my elderly mum. Ordered scrambled eggs on toast. These were served in cardboard takeaway boxes outside with really pathetic flimsy wooden spoons. The chips were nice, crispy and fresh. It must be said that eating scrambled eggs out of a cardboard box with bits of bacon dropped onto cardboard is not my idea of an appetising lunch. The consequence of this management decision is that a huge amount of waste cardboard and used wooden spoons are generated as evidenced by their overflowing bin. I went back to ask for metal knives and forks but these were refused so I resorted to a pen knife to cut my bacon And then picked up the pieces with my fingers. My 92-year-old mum coped as best she could with the poor cutlery. I imagine that a large amount of the clientele at the sovereign light Café are elderly and appreciate a nice plate to eat off whether they are eating inside or outside. To make an excuse that there have been too many breakages doesn’t cut the mustard. It’s really not 2024 customer service to refuse to provide a metal knife and fork to somebody that asks for one having failed to eat their £25 lunch with the flimsy equipment provided. This is a massive missed opportunity. Such a great place for a café. Such poor service today. Think again .

Dreadful customer service and food. We had cheesey chips which were all squashed together in a lump with hardly any cheese on top. The toasted sandwiches were served in a paper bag instead of a carton making them soggy. Coffee was cold and overpriced. Such a shame as the view sitting outside is lovely. Won't be going back !

2-Jul-23: Visited for lunch and had an excellent sausage and egg bap: just what I needed after a long walk. It's a traditional old school cafe, a bit rough around the edges, but they know how to knock out a decent breakfast bap. It does get very busy and can be rather too hot inside in good weather (no ventilation) but outside or take away to sit on nearby benches is great. They're clearly understaffed and sometimes wait times or table clearing can suffer as a result, but that wouldn't stop me returning as the location is fab.

Popped in for Drinks with Baby Grandson, he dropped he's Toy & upon picking it up realised this place is absolutely filthy!!! The floor looked like it has never been swept let alone seen a mop this whole season 🤢🤮. Really grim!!! If this is a reflection of the public areas hate to think what standards the kitchen has that we can't see. So glad it was only drinks that we ordered, won't be back, made us feel physically sick.

Regularly attend this beach-front cafe for an enjoyable reasonably priced lunch (especially given it is located on the promenade with views out to sea).

This small cafe offers great value for money without compromising the quality. There's a good range of traditional cafe food, excellent value for money, friendly staff and a superb location. It's our first choice when in Bexhill. And the chips are the best!

A very well know venue from the Keane song. Good indoor and outdoor seating. Mainly quick order food but exactly what you would expect. Fish and chips were good

Great views and Keane may well have had breakfast here but I doubt they received the same, surly service that we did. Luke warm potatoes, fatty bacon and the extra toast never arrived - we were then accused of not paying for it! And since when did an average breakfast cost a fiver?! Certainly not keen on going back.

Beautiful place to go with the family. We really enjoyed the food. Everything was really delicious. The waitress's attention was incredible. The decor is like something out of a movie. A cozy atmosphere. We will return soon.

5 stars across the board! We stayed for three nights and so the breakfast offering was rather limited - some bagels, croissants, pastries would have been nice.

Visited a little while ago, came for a family member's birthday. Food was very poor. The spare ribs were not good quality, the lasagne was dry and flavourless-I didn't eat it-and my son in law gave his meal to our dog! No apology or concern from staff when I gave feedback. Hope they improve across the board soon.

Stopped here for an early Saturday dinner when it was still quiet. Great friendly service, gorgeous old building, cozy fires were already lit. Prices very reasonable. I had a T-Bone, the others had some scampi and other more "standard" choices. All the food was decent, steak was very generous and with possibly the most chunky, crisp chips I've had in a long time. Selection of drinks seemed decent as well, though we didn't partake.
