My partner and I came here twice during our stay at Weymouth and the first visit was nice no issues, the second time was different, I think we must have arrived when they were ready to shut shop ?? We decided to order the two rump steaks with a drink for a set price of £40 ,the waitress quite clearly heard me say ….so far so good ?? The food was ok quite nice especially for the price ?? Only when we came to pay the and the bill showed £49 ?? My partner queried it and was told he should’ve had a pint as a smaller drink which was Pepsi voided the deal and “ There’s nothing I can do about it “ was the response !!! Nowhere did either of us see that stipulated as the menus were taken promptly as was my plate from under my nose with food still on it !!!! This was no fault of ours I believe as the waitress knew what we ordered and if it’s in the small print then that needs looking at and making more visible ? I wonder how many more customers have fell for it ??

When you first arrive they took our order for drinks and then food quite quickly but we were on our second drink before our meal arrived.. it took 45mins to an hour to get your meal.. the kitchen is not big enough for the amount of bums on seats.. I ordered the chicken with salad but the plate was hot so all the cold items had wilted and had to ask for my chips as they forgot to bring them.. not like it used to be getting more about money than the service.

Thanks for a great evening out. A fab place for a family group, lots of choice on the menu and all the food we had was delicious. Waiting staff were friendly, attentive and professional. Will be back.

Excellent! The brie and cranberry Wellington was fantastic.

Was seated, was given drinks and general food menu, waited 20 minutes for drinks when they eventually took our food order we were told it's Roast only... paid for drinks and left. Waited half an hour and didn't order anything in the end. Why not say something when you seat us? I also note that when we were eventually made aware of the menu , there was no recognition in the error and the member of staff just walked off? No wonder there was only 2 tables in.

Amazing food, had the best meal in a very long time. I had the Hake and my husband had the fish and chips. Head chef Tony cooked us a fabulous meal thank you. I was so impressed I brought him a drink. He should be given a rosette if haven't already. Waitress Erin and Jess are so friendly, helpful and professional. I cannot recommend this beautiful restaurant enough. They even went above and beyond for my husbands 50th Birthday. When we are next in town we will be sure to come again. Thank you and 5star plus.

To start with the positives: we were served by a lovely young man (unfortunately didn’t get his name) who did his best to help and was ever so professional and polite. However, when our food arrived, a member of our party was brought the wrong dish. The dishes that were correctly served were definitely not reflective of the price point, notably the avocado on toast which was a soggy, sour mess. Once the correct battered hake and chips arrived we realised we probably would have been better off keeping whatever they’d given us before as what was on the plate was extremely underwhelming. The hake was about the size of two fish fingers and soggy (the recipient of the meal being a head chef of a different establishment puts this down to being being left under running water for too long as a method of defrosting. Gross and not correct food practice). You would think being in such close proximity to the sea, the fish would be fresh! When we bought up these issues, the manager didn’t even bother to come out and address the issue with us and instead left it up to the young man serving us.

We had a lovely welcome, staff were polite, friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the food, opted for burgers very nice. Overall pretty good, I would go back again. Bit pricey but most places are now.

Family of five visited, one of whom has dietary requirements. Staff were super and attentive. Food was really very good and reasonable. Highly recommend for family. Super setting. Playground for kids just outside. Recommended.

I came with my kiddo. I ordered full rack of ribs. The meat (as little as was on the bones) was OLD! Couldn’t get it off the bone. The waiter dropped our corn cob on the sandy table and he rolled it closer to the board saying “here you go”. I told him the table is sandy so he took it in his hand and walked away. He brought it back only when biting into it, it was COLD. Like someone washed it with cold water. The fries were overcooked, hard and tasteless. No salt was offered, no ketchup was offered. The hard meat and fries were terrible and I had to leave the corn because it was cold. Knowing Weymouth I didn’t complain, nothing good ever comes out of it here.

Hadn’t been out to Bowleaze for ages so thought we would try. Booking was easy. Welcome was great. Our waitress was quick and good fun. Food was amazing and the girls loved the cocktails. It was just a great relaxing setting.

Very bad customer service. We've been here in our visit in May, and we love it so being in the area again, I've convinced my friends to join us there for dinner. We were 4 adults and 2 kids. At the end we paid ~£180 When we arrived a bit after 7, we were told that the waiting time for the food was 30 minutes. We said OK. Drinks came after more than 20 minutes. And first part of the food after more than one hour of waiting. The pasta was overcooked, the ribs were dry, the salt and pepper squid was too fried. After another 20-30 minutes we asked where is the rest of the food as we were missing 3 starters and one main, a burger for my son. The server checked with the kitchen and discovered that they missed that part of the order. We said that we don't want the starters anymore but my son was still waiting for his burger. The server said that he will take out from the bill the 3 missing starters and the burger. I said I want to pay for the burger as well as my son will have it, I don't want anything for free. The burger came all burned.... When the bill came, everything was on it. When I've asked why, and explain again the situation, the server who we talked previously hided in the kitchen. We asked to talked with the manager, we've been told that the lady that gave us the bill was the manager by the security lady who listed to us and said she needs to check with the manager. After another long wait a gentleman come and told us to sit down to talk, we said that we just want to pay the food that we received and leave because it's late , it was past half nine, and the kids are tired. He asked the server to give us the bill and we payed and left. For me was very disappointing as I had so lovely memories from our visit in May. The attitude of the lady manager and the way that they handled the situation left us with a bad taste and ruined the evening. I strongly recommend for them to try to more customer orientated. I have to say that the girls who served us were lovely and showed more profesionalism than their managers.

This place has the potential to be so much better than it currently is. Really miss the old restaurant which in our opinion was much better. We booked a table for 5 people and were shown to a table with 4 chairs/place settings. E asked to move to a bigger one and was told they are all reserved. They did all have reserved signs on them but in the 90 mins we were there all the tables remained empty. No effort was made to get us another chair until we asked. We ordered 2 Thai curry, 2 burgers and chips, a kids pasta and side order of fries. Burger was fine, chips were mostly small broken crispy bits of chips rather than actual chips. Kids pasta was penne but instead of tubes it was bits of broken pasta which were impossible for her to pick up with the fork. Bland sauce, no cheese on top. Honestly must have been about 20p worth of food there. I’m not normally one to make a fuss but it was a disgrace so I asked them politely if we could swap for something else which they did without any question. The Thai curry arrived and looked really unappetising - chunks of white (boiled?) chicken in a watery sauce (no lemongrass, no coconut milk) . While it wasn’t horrible, it definitely wasn’t Thai curry and the chicken chunks put me off completely. Their Thai curry used to be amazing when it was the Asian lady in charge and we couldn’t get enough of it. When the waitress asked if everything was ok (as they all do, not expecting anyone to say anything) I did mention that it wasn’t the best and explained why. She just said oh I’ll tell the chef and walked off. No one came back over to speak to us or ask anything further. Even when they cleared my plate and all the chicken was still there nothing was said. They have no interest in customer satisfaction and rely heavily on the fact that there’s nowhere else within walking distance that competes with them. The lack of healthy, good quality meals both on the kids and main menu ensured we didn’t go back there. For the rest of our stay we either cooked (not something I wanted to be doing on holiday) or ate off site and every single meal was better and cost less than anything we had here. It’s just cheap, overpriced junk food.

Very bad customer service, lazy staff, food coming in 1 hour from ordering, They refuse to call the manager to sort the kids order but they call the security 😁.

Had a mixed grill, it was burnt beyond cremation. For £25 it’s not worth it. Don’t order it. For the money charged the food doesn’t match the bill. Service isn’t up to par. Not the servers fault, it’s lack of training and not enough staff.

The best meal out we’ve had in a while! We eat out at least once a week and this is by far one of the nicest meals we’ve had. The Gyozas were lovely, onion rings were cooked to perfection, the burger was nice & the chips were amazing! Triple booked & extra crispy. The outdoor area is lovely too in the sun. It almost felt like we were abroad! We were initially booked to go here with 23 others on Saturday but had to cancel, so glad we still popped down on the Sunday as a couple. If we were to return to Weymouth, we’d be sure to come back!

We had to put a chair at the end of the table. There were only in total 5 tables used by customers over the 2 + hours we were in this restaurant. There were 3 waiters (including manger). Female waiter was trying to be friendly but appeared to be doing all the work and told what to do/not to do by the manager including to stand by the bar whilst food was waiting to be taken to tables. Other male waiter hardly did anything, he was going behind bar and out of view of customers. It took over 2 hrs to have 1 course, 1 drink - there was only 5 tables of customers (including ourselves) during that time. We had to go to the bar to ask to order food. The female waiter asked if we wanted a desert, she gave us a desert board but no one came to take an order. There was only 1 other table of customers at this time. We paid the bill and left, thanking the female waiter. It is such a shame that the service provided is being determined by this one manager as this restaurant could be lovely. Oh this manager did come to our table once - he gave us a bill even before we had even ordered a drink let alone ordered or had any food!!!!! Other reviews have also negatively commented about customer service - needs addressing. We have called to speak to a manger at Bowleaze caravan park to discuss this. We have found Bowleaze holiday park to be excellent apart from this restaurant. Average food for the price, more a cafe than a restaurant.

I don't often use the catering facilities when staying at the caravan as I do love to cook and I am not great with people, noise and comotion But as I am visiting on my tod, I decided to treat myself at Southside Bar. I chose 2 starters, the crispy chilli chicken with Asian salad, lamb kofta, a side of rice, a passionfruit coconut meringue tart and a large glass of Shiraz. All delicious and the staff were charming. Quite impressed and I am a fussy git when it comes to food and service, having worked in Cafes, Restaurants, Hotels and Bars around the world I am a nightmare punter normally. I have to say not bad at all 😊 I was served with the assistance of Newby staff member Alfie (first night on the job) Well done everyone. Just the right amount of waiter/manager interaction. Delicious. Thank you. 😊

Staying at Haven Seaview and found this place o recommendation from guests at Weymouth Bay. Fantastic day out. Fun fair, dog friendly and lovely cove

Lovely looking bar/restaurant right next to the seaside, with a traditional harbour style aesthetic. Only stopped for drinks (and some onion rings) so can't comment on a whole meal. Drinks were pretty good and not overly pricey, and the barman serving was very friendly. It appears he was the only one making drinks so if there was a queue it could take a while if people are ordering cocktails. The onion rings were really good with a nice batter. I wish I had ordered some just for myself and not the table. Sea view on some of the outside seats too although there are other places blocking most of it. But we got lucky and got these seats. There is also a park/sandpit right next door and within view of a lot of the seats outdoors so kids can play.

We had booked a table on Saturday evening and the restaurant was very busy. Service a little slow although there seemed to be plenty of staff. Slow to take drinks orders, didn't return to check if more drinks required. Sat by the kitchen it was obvious they were very busy. Our food was nice, burgers and mixed grill, but not amazing. My daughter's burger came with cheese that wasn't advertised, mine had far too much relish that overpowered the blue cheese and made the whole thing sticky. The burgers were very heavy on the pepper. Most frustratingly after long waits for food we ordered our deserts 2 hours after arrival. While still waiting for them the music was turned off and staff were clearing up around us. Not in itself a problem but noisily banging cuttlery holders on the ledge right behind our table was jarring.

We nearly went for food from a place next door, sunset bar, but the prices seemed a bit high for the generic food that was being served so we made the wise decision to walk the 1 minute to Southside bar and grill. Friendly staff, clean, clean toilets, nice selection of food for adults and children. We went late afternoon and the service was super quick! Clean plates all round. It’s not ‘cheap’ but for a restaurant near the beach and for the food and service we got we felt it was well worth it.

I came in on Saturday evening and had such an amazing dinner to start off our waiter was very helpful to start with our autistic son was struggling with the noise as we where sitting outside and he verry helpfully moved us inside in a booth, he was very helpfull with his special needs aswell and makes me think that not many places actully take into consideration people with autism but our waiter was brilliant and made him actully want to go there the next day, the food was absolutely amazing and the Southside burger was absolutely delicious would 100% recommend, thanks to the restaurant and Kieran our waiter for making everything so easy

Wow what can I say, service outstanding, staff warm and inviting, all round lovely atmosphere and even the prices weren’t to bad. Can’t wait to visit again!

It was our wedding anniversary so we decided to go out for a meal on a rare childfree evening. Having visited Southside before Covid, I knew the restaurant and the food was lovely so I had no hesitation in returning. All I can say is that whilst the restaurant was great when we went last time, they have absolutely outdone themselves and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit. For a start our server Jasmine was so friendly and welcoming. I suffer with gluten allergies and sometimes can be made to feel uncomfortable or a problem customer when I’m enquiring about things on the menu. Although the menu was very clear and easy to understand and there were plenty of gluten-free options available (not a common thing), Jasmine was more than happy to check any and all questions that I had directly with the kitchen to feedback for me. This gave me complete confidence in what I was ordering and she was also very kind and understanding about this. Whilst we were waiting for our food, looking around the restaurant it was clean, tidy, modern and welcoming. It was nice and cool, the servers were all very attentive and friendly and I saw regular examples of the tables, chairs, menus and anything on the table being wiped down as well as touch points around the restaurant such as the doors into the kitchen and toilets. For those who are still anxious about eating out, this is a great relief to know that hygiene is being taken seriously. We were near enough to the kitchen that we could see our food being prepared and I saw the chef take the time to ensure the server was aware of my intolerances and my food was brought to the table first and separately to the other meal on the table which again is fantastic for ensuring there is no risk of cross contamination and that the servers are also aware of allergies they are dealing with. The food itself is absolutely stunning and so tasty. I had the cheese and bacon burger with chargrilled chicken which was absolutely divine. The chicken was tender, moist and had a beautiful chargrilled flavour, The gluten-free bun was a very close match to real bread and even my husband couldn’t taste the difference and I enjoyed every bite. We didn’t stay for dessert or start with starters but they’re gluten-free options available across the menu as well as vegetarian and vegan options so it’s great to find a restaurant that caters for so many people. The menu itself has absolutely wonderful options using local produce wherever possible and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal out. I rarely go out for dinner because I find it very difficult to find gluten-free options and don’t like to feel the odd one out at the table not eating but I had every assurance that I can eat at this restaurant quite comfortably without any risk. I would recommend to anyone. Whether you are going out as a couple, whether you are visiting as a family… There is an option for everybody and everyone is welcome.

Visited with my 10 year old son and my elderly parents. Lovely location. However that’s where the positive stops unfortunately. The Manager didn’t greet us, he was more interested in having a personal conversation with a member of staff behind the bar. We were stood waiting for a few minutes to be shown to a table. Completely empty restaurant at this time. He had a rather unpleasant attitude. Superiority is not a nice trait to have. Took a long time for food to arrive to be served what I can only describe as a bowl of coloured water with some pieces of shredded carrot in - Red Thai curry. Vile completely tasteless food, service slow and really unpleasant Manager. Weymouth has so many lovely places to eat this is not one of them.

We have recently discovered this place and we keep rreturning. The staff are friendly and the food is cooked well.

Just come back after a long walk along the Weymouth coastal path for a bite to eat and a nice chilled drink, we were very quickly seated, it was a lovely cool restaurant after being out in the sunshine for the last 3 hours, the waitress was very polite and helpful and our drinks and food arrived quickly, The food was really tasty and well presented and good portion sizes too. I definitely recommend a visit to here if you are in the area, and will definitely be back when we come back to Weymouth

Had a couple of meals here this week and all have been very good. Friendly and efficient service and quality food. It’s a little more expensive than some places (only a little) but definitely worth it. Highly recommended.

I just had my birthday meal here. They surprised me with a glass of Prosecco. I felt warmly welcomed and looked after. The food was wonderful and the service brilliant. We would recommend.

Absolutely outstanding service from start to the end of the evening, we had a bit of a mix up that was quickly resolved by Melanie the bar manager with no fuss what so ever. The food and atmosphere was great too, would highly recommend.

Food was quite basic, pasta was cold when serviced and wasn't helped by a fire alarm going off when we were just served. Even when heated back through it was not pleasant. Very mid range food and service.

Ignore any of the negative reviews! Great setting, good food and accommodating staff. Great kids play area! Couldn't find a time suitable for us booking via the website so called up. Had a table booked for 40 mins time no problem. Definitely recommend.

Ate here last night as staying at Waterside. The kids portions were good, decent burgers with real meat. Staff were friendly, younger staff a bit more slap dash. Booking in advance recommended which can be done via their website.

Managed to get a table here at very short notice due to another restaurant not opening on sunday, our receptionist phoned through from our holiday Park and got us a table for the 8 of us. We was welcomed by lovely staff and a good atmosphere. We ordered some roast dinners and burgers for the children, all the food was cooked fast ,and was very nice. The vegetables for the roast came on separate plates to the meat and tatties, and they was just right, not too soft but not crunchy either. The meat was cooked to perfection with just enough crackling on my pork, and the beef my partner had melted in her mouth.the burgers went down a treat as well with the children. Fantastic food, although, not a huge menu. Very happy. Thank you. 😊

Food was ok however burger was full of gristle and one or two of the chips were green - not sure how no one notices what the chips look like. Main issue was that the desserts never turned up. Waited 40 minutes and asked three times before I went up to the bar and was asked to show my app receipt, then separately was asked to show again to get the time of the order, then thirdly to see what name it was ordered under. Was made to feel like a criminal for the sake of £10 worth of desserts. Was refunded however totally put off now.

Had a decent meal here on Friday. We booked again for Sunday night, but when we arrived at 5pm they told us we weren’t allowed to dine there because we weren’t from the caravan park and ‘it’s because of the football’ (no explanation beyond that). We had to find alternative dining arrangements at the last minute on a Sunday night. Our reservation was for 5pm, 3 whole hours before the football so not sure how we might’ve affected it…. Either way, they want your money when it pleases them but they will turn you away for arbitrary reasons at the drop of a hat. Next time, tell people when they make the booking - NOT when they arrive! Bad customer service.

This place has gone down hill in the 23 years we have eaten here when the restaurant was next to the venue we loved the lady that cooked there Sunday carvery food was 100% now terrible I had beef every thing was cold and all vegetables done in sauses my husbands fish was swimming in oil my dinner got handed back I will not be eating there again which is a shame as my husband is disabled and is limited where to go bring back the old restaurant

Excellent service and Fantastic food!! Our server James couldn’t do enough for us, polite and funny great first meal out after months of lockdown. All staff smiling and enjoying what they do, fantastic atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back

Amazing Food! During our stay at Waterside we are here a number of times and the food was amazing every time, clearly very fresh and could not fault it! The service was also great and nothing was too much. Highly recommend!

Such a shame that this place has gone downhill since our last visit 4 years ago. Really nice inside since the revamp and the waiting/bar staff were very nice, but the food is now average at best. Limited menu, no steaks, sold out of fish on a 6 30pm table! (How can a restaurant set by the sea run out of fish). Unfortunatley won't be returning to the restaurant, which is a shame as everything else on the caravan park is brilliant.

Lovely here, have to install an app to order. Has AMAZING sandwiches and chips, didnt take long at all, definitely coming again. The staff were friendly. Not very expensive. We had an amazing view of the sea and the beach was a frw metres away. Lovely for a swim before or after. Has lots of kids rides, such as trampolines, big slides, mini roundabout thing and much more. Definitely recommend if you have small kids. Is good place for any age group but there is a kids park next door so u have to understand that. Definitely going to come again. Lovely food. Family dinner at sunset. I had pan-fried sea bass, which was really good. Seabass cooked perfectly, garnish complimented it very well. Chorizo, potatoes, spinach and lemon. Definitely would order again. Girl friend had chicken burger which she loved and little one had mac n cheese....

We had lunch today which was 1st class, so we booked for dinner tonight. They didn't let us down. Everything was cooked fresh and it tasted Devine. We're going again tomorrow night now too. 21 July 2020 1h 20m wait for food :( We booked a table for 7.30pm dinner for a family of 6 (one of which is a 1 year old not eating). First impression were good. Waiting staff polite and friendly. Soundings were lovely and restaurant is new looking, very clean and to a good standard of decor. It was a Tuesday evening so it was just a Thai menu available as a Thai chef comes in for that evening someone mentioned. All good so far. Restaurant did not seem to busy as social distancing in place. Ordered food and was advised the policy is to pay up front. Wondered why and it became apparent. We were advised there is a 45 minute wait for food. Errr okay. Then food was not served for until an hour and twenty minutes later. Server said this is why people asked to pay up front, as we would of probably walked off too after half an hour over the stated wait time. We asked a couple of times if at least the 5 year old child's meal of chicken nugget and chips (there was a regular kids menu still in addition to Thai menu) could be served as he was getting very hungry and upset. After the 1h20m the side dishes and child's meal were served. (The 5yo didn't like the chicken nuggets / bites anyway as they were deep fried chicken balls really). My Thai Red curry and the side dishes were nice to be fair. The others Pad Thai and Chili Chicken looked nice but were very average, my own Pad Thai is better it was said. Therefore based on the experience last night, my rating is poor and we'll be swerving the Southside bar and grill for the rest of the holiday. Shame :(
