We stay here regularly as we visit family. Bernadette and Ryan are amazing hosts and cannot do enough for us. The last few occasions we have missed Bernadette to the point where we stayed elsewhere last time we came to Peterborough! Glad to see this special lady is back at the grill. We have missed your friendliness, your personality and your recommendations for the grub!

We stayed overnight on a package deal, which included a 3-course dinner from the set menu. The set menu looked interesting, but there were items on each course which were not available, disappointingly. However we were upgraded to our choice from the a la carte menu, so no complaints there, but the service from the kitchen was incredibly slow. By the time we had waited 35 minutes for our cheeseboard and ice cream desserts, we were steaming. However at check-out, the Receptionist removed the supplementary charges for drinks with our meal from our bill by way of compensation, which we greatly appreciated: a reported problem solved immediately, which is excellent customer service. I must however agree with previous reviewers that the restaurant decor is dreary, soulless, devoid of character, poorly lit and generally completely uninspiring. There is not a single green plant to break the relentless theme of wood, which is a shame as the quality of the food at both dinner and breakfast was really rather good. There seemed to be relatively few people staying however, which made us marvel at the mounds of pastries and fresh fruit set out in the morning - I would hate to see the food waste here! And just one other small gripe about the restaurant: why did staff seat the 13 covers dining that night all on adjacent tables, when the restaurant is otherwise empty? Most people, especially the Brits, like a bit of space around them so they can chat without the neighbouring tables overhearing everything they say. Come on Marriott - train your restaurant staff to seat people sympathetically, short out the dismal decor, and put a boot up the kitchen team - you have a cracking place here with great potential, but sadly your guests are a captive audience due to the location of the hotel and clearly are treated as such. You CAN do better!

Food is nice and well presented. Excellent steak, good chips and onion rings. Service is good with smiling and helpful staff. Menu not too varied. I stayed a week at the Marriott and by the end of it I had almost tried all courses. They advertised a set menu but when I asked for it, they said it was not available and no explanation given.

Stayed at the Marriott for 5 nights but only eat in their restaurant once. Found the atmosphere to be soulless and miserable. Food is overpriced and with an added insult they add a 10% service charge to the bill.

I've stayed at the Peterborough Marriott on several occasions so I have eaten at this restaurant many times for convenience. However my last trip to this restaurant for dinner was very disappointing. The Maitre'd was rude and the service was severely lacking. I ordered the hamburger which came out black and looked more like a hockey puck rather than a hamburger. The dessert was not edible, Ginger toffee pudding as there was more large chunks of ginger than there was pudding. The restaurant also charges a service fee which they do not tell you about in addition to the cost of the meal. I tipped the waiter even though the food was not edible. So seeing a service charge on my hotel bill in addition to the restaurant bill and the tip was a little upsetting. When I questioned the hotel desk, I was told that this is a restaurant charge and not a hotel charge. In contrast to my dinner experience, the breakfasts at this restaurant are amazing. The buffet bar has a fantastic selection of eggs, bacon, beans, potatoes, etc. and the porridge is the best I've had. Also the omelet station is quite nice. Again, the Maitre'd is not friendly, but the service is fast and the food is yummy. If I was rating this restaurant only on dinner I would have given the Source Grill 1 star review. I will not be back for dinner.

We ate here twice as we were quite exhausted both days and didn't want to leave the hotel. The food is solid, well cooked (except the chicken that was super dry). Some dishes better than others. Nothing special - overpriced - but it is a hotel. We enjoyed the ribs and the steak.

Atmosphere OK typical hotel restaurant, service attentive and helpful, food woeful. On recommendation from the waitress I ordered lamb rump, it was advised at medium. When it came it consisted of a tough lamb rump cooked on the outside but raw in the middle, it hadn't been properly trimmed to remove the connective tissue. It came sat on budget button mushrooms with a few ml of mushroom sauce which could easily be packet sauce and with some admittedly nice chips. No vegetables were included. For this little more than a cheap cafe meal they charged me £19. After this I had the sticky toffee pudding which was effectively a budget toffee sponge muffin thing swimming in toffee sauce and accompanied but a scoop of cheap ice creme. All this cost £34 with a pint of Stella, truely awful value, if I'd got it for £10 I would have felt cheated. The problem is the front of house service always promises something the kitchen is incapable of delivering, AVOID AT ALL COST. I eat here because my company is based close and it's too convenient. PS I've rated the food and value terrible only because there isn't a lower rating available.

The service staff in the restaurant are consistently kind and generous. What is particularly nice is that they remember me when I visit again. All of the service staff I have experienced have been so nice but only one I know the name of and her name is Ela. Ela is always warm and friendly, and seems happy to serve me. I'm no good at writing reviews really, but overall, what I'd like to say is, I've stayed at numerous Marriott hotels and they can vary in quality and service. I stayed at one in Tokyo, Japan, and it was incredible. I think in some respects, the Peterborough Marriott needs a little TLC, however I have been consistently pleased with the service of all of the restaurant staff here, notably the ones I've had most experience with. As well as Ela, these are the main host/manager (I think-suit and tie, etc.) who most often welcomes me in and sits me in the nicer seats, and the gentleman who cooks the omelettes, and remembers that I like a friend egg. All the other staff members always have a smile and are equally welcoming, and all are a credit to the business.

Being local to the Peterborough area, we have eaten in the bar a few times. There is not alot of variety on the menu but the food is nice. It is very expensive for what you get, i had the avecado chicken burger which was about £15... we also ordered some sharing starters such as nachos and some desserts. One of the staff members I would like to mention is Anna P, she was very chatty and attentive. Especially helpful when deciding what to choose from the menu. There is a choice of seating available in the bar and restaurant, such as sofas and chairs. Lovely ambience and feel to the place. Cutlary is always clean and in my books, thats always a plus!

We had an evening meal in the Source restaurant. When our order arrived the waitress forgot to bring the vegetables. Then we were given three portions when we had only ordered two. Our dessert was one cheesecake with vanilla ice-cream and two sticky toffee puddings with clotted cream. The kitchen didn't have any vanilla ice-cream and we were advised. Two portions of chocolate ice-cream appeared and when questioned we were advised they didn't have any clotted cream and that was the alternative. We chose cream instead. At breakfast we asked for full cream milk for cereal and was given a jug of cream. However our main courses were fine but was unimpressed with the sticky toffee pudding as it more resembled a jam sponge.

Can't review the source grill as I was attending one of my friend's wedding reception there.I can comment however, the breakfast was very varied, with so many choices available around the breakfast area. Loved the cook who catered for any special omelette or other choices and I can say I had the most wonderful omelette. The young chef was superb and cheerful.

Chosen starters were good, my partners main course was tasty, my Braised Shin of Beef was unedible, consisting of gristle and tough as leather. Don't know why Chef even cooked the meat as he would have seen the poor quality when preparing. Another Chef saw the meal and said he was embarrassed by what had been served. Offered a replacement, then offered bottle of wine and Chefs apology, declined both, no desserts. The serving staff were very helpful, got refund on bill. Had good breakfast in morning.

I stayed here on business and ate in the resteraunt. I had a main and a desert. The main was red snapper and was served on what I think was a block of polenta, difficult to know as it had no flavour at all. It was swimming in oil which again had no flavour and had a small amount of spinach with it, there was a mild taste of chilli. Luckily I had a side of mashed potatoes which meant I had enough but cost £3 extra. I then had a chocolate torte which was acceptable. I would say the staff were polite and helpful so no blame lay with them for the poor rating I give. The meal cost £26 without any alcohol, extremely poor value. I will likely stay here again however I shal be seeking other places to eat.

I really enjoyed the carvery at the Source Grill. You could choose to have two or three courses. We had starters and it was all laid out beautifully and on selection were various salads and cold meat dishes that they don't normally get in other restaurants. The main event was the carvery and this too presented options that you don't normally get with a carvery elsewhere like polenta with goats cheese or blue cheese. There were also Tuna steaks and various tasty vegetable options. We opted not to have dessert because we were already quite full and all the deserts were cake based - quite filling.

We managed to spot a fantastic DBB (Dinner, Bed & Breakfast) rate for the Peterborough Marriott an decided to spend a night there as part of a romantic getaway. The delicious meal topped off a great experience and really made our trip worthwhile. The menu may not be as extensive as a chain restaurant, but I believe it's so the chefs can know their menus, the best ingredients and how to cook them well. This isn't an 'open the packet, pop it in the oven, take it out 15 minutes later' type of establishment - they prepare and cook their meals to order.I had a Duck & Orange Pate starter, followed by a Cajun Chicken Surprise, and finally a desert whose name I cannot recall, but it was very chocolatey, and I thought all of it was delicious. My wife enjoyed her starter (something involving prawns) and her main (something involving pasta and tomato, with a large circular dollop of smooth goat's cheese.Service was top notch - the staff were very attentive and friendly, full of smiles, prompt to respond. However, we did visit during a quiet period and so I cannot comment on what service is like during busier periods. However, price was what you'd expect from a top quality restaurant - £23 per person for a three course meal from the table d'hôte menu, or a little more from the a'la carte. Atmosphere - hard to say, as it was very quiet when we chose to visit, but there were a few others there, and I'm sure there are busier periods (including the weekend), but we found it cosy.Overall, we were very happy with our experience and plan to go back. The Marriott is a great play to stay and dine for special occasions, but is perhaps a little pricey to make it a regular option.

Had the pleasure of Sunday Lunch here last week and it was excellent. The set menu offers great choice and is well priced. You get all the frills of a 4 star hotel service but a really good value price tag. 3 courses only £14.95 although as the portion size was excellent we could manage no more than 2 courses. We chose a starter and a main, Mother in laws prawn cocktail was not a 1970's throwback she had the whole ocean bed on her plate and throughly enjoyed it. Being traditionalists we all had the beef for mains and it was plantiful and tasty proper carved slices of meat accompanied by a great choice of veg all served piping hot. I would fully recommend and cannot wait to return.

This pub has come a long way. It's a traditional pub which does some food but it is not the modern-day theme pub that is ‘dressed up to the nines’ and tries to be everything to everyone. A good selection of beers at reasonable prices and personable staff all helps. The atmosphere is positive and traditional and the two lads who run the pub work hard to keep it clean. The downside is not being able to take your dog into the pub now the autumn has arrived and the chain has stopped selling peanuts, a good seller I understand. Keep up the good work.

Four of us ate here in the restaurant. Starters wild mushrooms in cream/garlic on bread. Mains - gammon, braised beef, pork belly and fish and chips. Desserts apple and rhubarb crumble. The service was excellent and food hot and tasty. Excellent portions and well priced. Only one suggestion- the crumble top needed cooking/browning more. it was pale and tasted floury. Also be nice to have some background music as only a couple of tables occupied.
