Tiny, excellent, unusual. Delcious well priced Japanese food. Everything is good. It is tiny and can only have about 8 people sitting-in. They do a lot of takeaway. Absolutely worth seeking out. Boa Buns really excellent and is the sushi and the soups.

Absolutely fantastic little spot. Gorgeous food and the service is great. If you are wanting a cheap meal that tastes expensive, eat here (or take out if it's full)!

Visited here as I drive past every week and after seeing all the Google reviews knew it was worth a try. The service and good was absolutely outstanding. Ordered chicken katsu curry and it was delicious and I’ll definitely be going back. Inside there are only approx 6-8 seats but they do also offer take out. Also saw the ramen dish which looked equally delicious. Definitely recommend this place and as a new local business i hope many people visit.

Exceptional food, exceptional price, exceptional service. This place is a hidden gem, around 5 mins drive from the city centre. It’s a takeaway but has got around 8 seats to eat in if you prefer (we do!). The Japanese food is up there with the best I’ve eaten. The ramen is to die for and much tastier than any other that I’ve had in Nottingham. The bentos boxes are fresh, filling and delicious. Faultless! I highly recommend you visit.

This hidden gem of a sushi place is an absolute delight for any sushi enthusiast. The staff greeted us with warm smiles and a genuine passion for the cuisine they serve. Every bite is a revelation, a perfect fusion of tradition and innovation. The chef's meticulous attention to detail is evident in every piece, from the delicate arrangement to the carefully chosen garnishes. The menu offers an impressive variety, catering to both sushi connoisseurs and newcomers. Whether you're a fan of classic nigiri, sashimi, or daring specialty rolls, there's something for everyone.

Hidden gem next to Nottingham Castle. Food are very very tasty and are properly cooked to high standard. The food quality reflects the chef's technique and passion on Japanese BBQ and fried food. Nice and very welcoming chef (i.e. shop owner), he was trained in Japan. I had fried chicken rice bowl and BBQ chicken wings. The crispy crust and juicy chicken inside, make you wanting to have the next bite. The BBQ chicken was handled perfectly, and the skewer handle is very clean that wouldn't make customers' hand greasy. I love the attention to detail. I think he carries the Japanese's craftsman spirit in cooking and he is meticulous in running the restaurant. Look at how he put the cutlery and serve the bowl/plate by putting them at an certain angle and he prepare s the food happily. Absolutely fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended! Little suggestion: If the Japanese words can be translated in English literally, instead of putting pronunciation, it will help the customers to understand the menu more. Or consider pictures on selected items. Good luck!

A minimalist Japanese restaurant tucked away in a hidden alleyway in Nottingham, Kushi-ya offers creative small plates and skewers. The cheesecake was exceptional - an explosion of flavours with a perfectly firm and crisp crust. However, the tuna was underwhelming, lacking flavour and suggesting that the quality of the fish may not match the premium pricing. While the overall experience was enjoyable, I agree with some reviews that suggest the restaurant is somewhat overhyped, especially considering the abundance of similar establishments offering comparable quality at more competitive prices.
