First time visiting Ginza and the food was absolutely delicious. Wish we had been before now. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were told that they are closing for good due to retirement on 27th July 24, so if you haven't been go and if you've been and love it go again before it's too late. Absolutely fantastic restaurant, great atmosphere, friendly staff and incredible food. Gutted it's shutting as this place is a must, it will be a big loss for Nottingham. Thanks Ginza for our first experience of Japanese food and enjoy your retirement!

I don’t think it’s sashimi grade fish, the salmon sashimi did not taste good with hints of being gone off; the texture was like as if it was disintegrating, but the tuna however was horrible, it was extremely fishy and tasted very gone off. All the cooked dishes tasted very good though.

The female chef seemed to be an intern, throwing eggs three or four times and dropping them on the table every time! Once she fell two more! Anyway, there is no such thing as that! I thought it was the atmosphere, but as a result, all the fallen eggs were fried for us, and the egg paste on the fried rice was mixed and buried like garbage! Fried rice is not tasty, and other dishes are small! Their ignition performance was also wonderful! But because we didn't warn in advance, we really felt very dangerous! He can tell us to do it far away first. It feels safer! In the end, the service was really bad! We have eaten enough for two minutes. The waiter has asked us to turn the table! I think this kind of service is too bad! Because we are the only customers in that big restaurant! Why is it like this? I can't figure it out! Their food and beverage expenses are not cheap! I really have nothing to say about the poor service!

Party of 6 with varying tastes, but Ginza Nottingham handeled it excellently. The service was prompt, courteous and the experience of watching teppenyaki was a unique experience. The chef was clearly very caring about his craft, and would happily answer questions that we might have had about his process, his background. It's a massive shame that these guys will be closing soon, on the off chance they don't, we will certainly be back time and time again!

As soon as we entered the restaurant we were told we lied about our reservation and they told us that they hadn’t picked the phone up as our name wasn’t on their list. After ten minutes of them being rude and abrupt with us denying the fact we made a reservation they had found our name on a separate booking sheet with our name clearly stated as table for 2 at 8pm. We were then seated and given menus without any explanation as to how the restaurant works in ordering food and drinks. Then when coming to ordering food we were then told to move seats as the menu we selected wasn’t applicable for where we were currently sat, bearing in mind we had already waited another 20 mins for drinks to arrive. When moved we were put in a cold and dark corner with no ambiance or any customer service. Not once did any member of staff check up on us or ask us if we wanted more drinks etc. When politely explaining to the waitress at the end of the meal that we were unhappy with the service nothing was done about it and it was ignored and brushed off.

Passed this place thousands of times and always wanted to try it. Qent on a Sunday and had the deluxe mixed platter. Lobster, scallops, filet steak and chicken. It was easily worth the money and I will be going again. If you're squeamish, don't order the lobster. It was freshly cut in half and still moving when it was being cooked. If you don't mind that, it was lovely and obviously fresh.

Went as a large group to celebrate a friends birthday. Shortly after being seated at the table the staff then proceeded spit the group into two forcing half the group to sit on the opposite side of the restaurant. When we spoke to the staff to ask them to allow us to all sit together as we had come to celebrate as ONE group and had made a phone call prior to ensure there would be space for the entire group to sit together the staff completely refused making silly excuses and saying that this was not a normal restaurant (after this experience I would definitely agree). They then kicked us all off the teppanyaki table saying they were busy (despite it being a Sunday and only 3 other families in the restaurant) and made us change our orders. To make matters worse when we later asked one of the waiters to take a picture of us they aggressively said no. Overall, I was appalled by the lack of understanding and basic manners of the staff here and they singlehandedly managed to ruin my friends birthday.

Wasn't impressed with Ginza this week. We've been before and it was great so we wanted to go back for a celebratory meal, but we couldn't seem to contact anyone to book in. There's no booking system on the website (why not...?), and the phone rang out when we called during opening times over several days, must have been close to 20 times... no answer! We decided to just head down there on the day and see if we could get a table (at opening time), but the shutters were down. We realised they must be shut for the week, but the frustrating thing is that they have active Instagram and Facebook pages and there was no mention of it. How are they still in business! We would still like to go back in the future, but this has put us off slightly because we have no idea if we'll be able to book, and we don't want to risk turning up to shutters again. A bit of communication with customers would have been good if they're shut. We would have been spending over £100 with them but had to take our business elsewhere.

Have been before multiple times when it was fine. This time we were greeted with very rude staff. The lobster was not fresh. They also kept touching the raw chicken spatula with the rice and other dishes. The table opposite left early due to the poor service and food. They served vegetables last. My friend ordered a seafood set menu which included king prawn which they did not provide - when questioned multiple staff shouted at him. My steak was ordered rare but it was very well done. The attitude of the staff was terrible. For some reason served us the vegetables as a dessert.. should have been with our mains. Staff stated “it’s the chefs style”. £7.50 for a pint of rubbish lager too. Paid £50 - ended up getting food on the way home. Gave me food poisoning. Would definitely avoid. I had a disappointing experience at Ginza. Despite the impressive fire show and egg juggling, the actual food quality was extremely poor. Every dish tasted the same, either overpoweringly of garlic butter or drowned in soy sauce. What made matters worse was the lack of coordination from the chef. They served the rice and vegetables at the end, long after we had finished eating the meat and seafood that was served at the beginning. When we asked about the random order of food, the staff responded rudely and shouted at us. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant due to the subpar food,

Despite paying £40, I received what seemed like a meager portion consisting of half a chicken breast, half a duck breast, and a small sirloin steak. The service revolves around teppanyaki, which is light years away from authentic Japanese teppanyaki. It's practically a Chinese restaurant that has "turned" towards Japanese cuisine since there's no shortage of sauces and greasy food. The teppanyaki itself takes place around a table with other diners you don't know, so don't go if you want privacy. The chef seems to have more fun with small juggling and fire tricks rather than focusing on cooking good teppanyaki; it doesn't matter if the meat ends up burned. The teppanyaki selections are limited and bland, with fried rice used as filler. There's no attention to cooking techniques, the deliberate movements, or the orderliness in the true spirit of Japanese cuisine. It's just a show-off that aims to entertain customers who don't even know where Japan is. The à la carte dishes are 20% more expensive than average, and for a place like this, the prices hover around £50 per person. The sushi is awful. It feels like you're eating inside a parking lot or a basement; there are no windows, no natural light. All of this is worsened by the fumes that aren't properly extracted, filling the place with a fishy smell that will cling to your clothes even after 4 machine washes. After spending some time in the restaurant, you just want to leave because you can't breathe.

A minimalist Japanese restaurant tucked away in a hidden alleyway in Nottingham, Kushi-ya offers creative small plates and skewers. The cheesecake was exceptional - an explosion of flavours with a perfectly firm and crisp crust. However, the tuna was underwhelming, lacking flavour and suggesting that the quality of the fish may not match the premium pricing. While the overall experience was enjoyable, I agree with some reviews that suggest the restaurant is somewhat overhyped, especially considering the abundance of similar establishments offering comparable quality at more competitive prices.

My girlfriend and I visited the restaurant this afternoon for the bottomless option, which includes a time limitation. After waiting for approximately 40 minutes, we were shocked to discover that the sushi and sashimi we ordered had not been served at all. I therefore have a suggestion for Sushimania Nottingham: if you cannot afford the costs associated with offering a bottomless option, it is better to discontinue this service!!! Will never come to this restaurant again, zero star for the service quality!!!
