Café Délices is a really nice place to eat all your favorite food. It serves dishes from breakfast, light meals and lunches. Also serves scones and cakes. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Popped in today for a late brunch & coffee. Ordered Eggs Benedict as my favourite breakfast but really disappointed. Mainly because it had far too much hollandaise sauce. Served with pancetta (which I knew) just didn’t work...would suggest salmon, spinach or Suffolk Ham? Spoke to staff & was offered (if not a little begrudgingly) something else but didn’t feel particularly welcome. Nobody seemed that interested & I left. Not great customer service. Wouldn’t return.

No podemos esperar a volver!

Seems like a nice café, only ever had a hot chocolate and scone here when meeting a friend. I would however like to try their lunch menu out at some point as it sounded nice. Prices are okay, staff seem friendly. Quirky little place but maybe needs more atmosphere!

A fantastic addition to the high street in Diss. Sophie's Bistro serves a great selection of food throughout the day. I can definitely recommend the Eggs Benedict and if you are lucky enough to go in when their Gourmet Burger is on the menu order it- it is fit for a King!

As we were passing, we decided to pop in for an early lunch. Sophies interior decor does not indicate that it is anything more than a cafe, albeit that it does have a licence, but it was clean and we received a polite welcome. Service was also reasonably quick with my wife ordering a jacket potato with two fillings (the second topping a bed of salad) which was well presented and very palatable. Unfortunately, however, the all-day breakfast didn`t match up to the same standards. The one egg; one sausage: bacon rasher and portion of canned mushrooms were certainly edible but the plate was coated in a small pool of mushroom water and egg fat such as one tends to associate with a "greasy spoon". Also half the plate was covered in the "home made" baked beans, to which it appeared that bits of tinned tomato, bacon and onion had been added. This added to the tomato sauce flavour which whilst I accept that it might well appeal to some was not to my personal taste. Would we go again? Possibly, but there is significant competition in the catering establishments in Diss and I would not choose an "all day breakfast" again.

We turned up in Diss on a drizzly October lunchtime looking for somewhere to eat and found this gem. Nice friendly staff, pleasant decor and the menus offered some very good non standard options. Try the homemade baked beans with onion and bacon or the mushrooms with tarragon if you want a real treat. I am sure the cakes are good too.

I love this place, the breakfast is outstanding and the coffee is really good. Its a tiny little tea room kind of place thats really comfortable and a low key relaxed atmosphere. The food is great and has that home-cooked yumminess about it. Sit there by the window with a bit of lunch and read the paper for an hour, lovely.

We thought the place looked okay, so went in to eat. We both ordered the homemade baked beans on toast. Our order was taken quite quickly, but the waitress said there would be a wait owing to their being short staffed. She apologised more than once for this. The two slices of bread offer was only a £1.00 more than one slice, and very filling. It came with a salad (which we were not expecting) and dressing. It would have been better if the dressing had been served as a side as my wife thought it spoilt the salad. The baked beans were very tasty (much better than the tinned variety), but could have been much warmer. As the waitress was so nice and obviously very busy, we didn't comment on this.Full marks for offering something "home cooked" that was different from the norm.

If you're looking for something different try Sophies. They offer various type of meat ie ostrich kangaroo etc also more usual types available. One of the few places to offer above the norm. I have had breakfast, traditional English. The small size was plenty for me. Lunch, Eggs Benedict well cooked and tasty. Evening Meal was a super noodle and king prawn dish. this was over several weeks but all were good. Also they make the best hot chocolate in Diss. Staff were pleasant and I would say go and try,

I cannot express my dissatisfaction with Sophie's. It had a lot of potential and me and my friends thought we'd try it out, but sadly is was a shocking experience. The food was terrible with an awful long wait, arrived cold and sandwiches warm and soggy. The food we ordered was pretty basic, don't really understand how they could get it so wrong. Presentation lousy. Staff were rude and incredibly sullen. Pretty lousy variety on offer and certainly found it impossible to cater to alternative diets. Overall we felt like intruders, unwelcome and received a very unprofessional service. Incredibly overpriced, overrated, and with the other lovely selections available in Diss I just wouldn't bother. We certainly will not return.

Our daughter chose Sophie's to celebrate her birthday with friends and we had the best time. The staff went the extra mile making the whole event special. My husband and I were hungry but in a hurry. The cafe opposite that we were going to go to was full up, so we went to Sophies instead. Big mistake. It took forty five minutes for the waitress to produce two bowls of fluorescent yellow soup. To be fair, she did give a perfunctory apology for the delay, saying she "got distracted", but meanwhile we had to put up with people at the next table putting their bags and coats over the chairs at our table. The soup was not particularly special and we decided we would have been better off with a takeaway sandwich from Morrisons.

We went to Sophies one evening in Decmember this year. 4 adults and 2 toddlers. Its an interesting place, but cant seem to get away from the 'shop' feeling. None the less, the staff were most welcoming and we settled for dinner. We ordered bread (no fresh bread available, only white sliced) to keep the kids entertained. This never materialised. Then to dinner. I had a Springbok tagine. Very nice, well presented and well served. My wife had a pasta dish and our friend had something different. This is where it all becomes a little aimless. What sort of restaurant is this? Is it a specialist boutique / Italian / French / Moroccan etc? It just seems to lack identity and direction. Also a little overpriced - especially the drinks.Service during the meal was average and the food took a long time to arrive.I would return, but hope that they can find their market identity.Diss is a lovely little town and needs to attract people into town and away from the 3 supermarkets. I would love to support Sophies, but they need to work a little harder.I have also heard that their breakfasts are rather good.

We have been to Sophies several times, usually for breakfast, since it opened some months ago. Food is excellent, coffee good, and in general the service is pleasant and efficient. We haven't tried the lunchtime menu yet, but by all accounts that is pretty good as well. Three minor quibbles (hence 4 rather than 5*): sometimes no-one takes much notice when you arrive, so it is not clear whether or where to sit, or whether someone comes to take your order (someone does) or you order at the counter: for breakfast the "Homemade baked beans" are definitely different, so better presented separately on the plate: the "butter" seems to be more like some kind of spread rather than straight butter. Otherwise excellent ....

To say we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The decor is warm and inviting the place has a really pleasant atmosphere and the staff are bend over backwards helpful and efficient, nothing is too much bother. The food was delicious I had a pigeon breast and quail egg salad and my wife had a sausage and bacon sandwich.it was gorgeous and the coffee was to die for. I've been meaning to visit Sophie's for a while, but work and busy-ness keep getting in the way. The husband and I finally managed it today. The bistro was busy, with a good vibe, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great! The husband had a full English which he really enjoyed (even the homemade baked beans which I thought he wouldn't like as he's a big fan of heinz (who isn't?!)), followed by a cream tea. He let me have a smidge and it was very nice too.I had the Pate on toast (served with chips and salad). The pate didn't look terribly promising, but it tasted fantastic, I enjoyed every mouthful. The fat little chips were crispy and perfectly cooked, and the salad was, well, salad-y, but also fine. I could have easily eaten it again. The service was friendly, they were obviously busy but came to check we were enjoying the food.Definitely a good lunch stop, I'm sure we'll be back.

We had been doing the rounds of estate agents in Diss and decided to get a quick snack rather than a full blown lunch. I hadn't been to Sophies since I had returned home so Tricia and I thought we would give it a go.It is situated on Mere St and is very well presented both inside and out. It is beautifully kept, very clean and tidy. We sat and were offered a menu and our drinks order was taken. We both opted for Mushrooms in a tarragon sauce on focaccia. It was delivered to us promptly, piping hot and indeed reflected the experience of the whole place being well run and efficient. We had also ordered two cappucino's as well, which again were delicious. The only down side, and this is the second restaurant I have found this in since returning was the price. At just over £21.00 for two Tarragon Mushrooms (albeit lovely) and two cappucino's I feel it was somewhat over priced. Otherwise perfect.

I had noticed a couple of new eating places opened in Diss so decided to pop into Sophies just to experience something new and support a new business.Well, all I can say is "Good decision!"The decor is quite old world, clean and fresh. Comfortable, although I find the lighting a bit too bleaching (low voltage bulbs) and it would be a much better move to place warm white bulbs. But the food is really why I am writing this. Its is absolutely first rate for a coffee lounge. I know they have described it as a "bistro" but it doesn't have that feel to it, feeling much more like a coffee lounge. The coffee is arguably the best I have had out in quite a while, really, perfect crema and superb flavour. The meal was a last minute decision. A tarragon and mushroom covered slice of toast. Just perfection. Sad I could only have one. Two would have been decadent. It was just perfect. If I had this later in the day, a glass of Chablis to accompany it would have been perfect. Its IS that good.I was also looking at other dishes being served. All seemed to be generous servings and appetising. The pricing is very reasonable. Coffee was £1.90 and my meal £2.95. Unbelievable value !!I really hope the quality remains the same and this business is recognised for their food. If it is, then this is going to be a difficult place to get into.

Every time I walk down Mere Street I notice a board outside the newly established Sophie's restaurant advertising a new menu or special evening event which is very encouraging and enterprising of this young lady. I have, to date, only been in for a cup of tea which was made even more delicious as it was served an enormous bone china tea pot and tea cup, which I got three cups out of for only £1.50! I was invited to sit with a friend who regularly frequents the establishment and on this occasion he was eating what looked like some very well cooked scrambled eggs! The décor is "shabby Chic" but very inviting and comfortable. I would definitley recommend the establishment and wish her well with her new venture.
