On my third visit to the pub I was touched by the excellent customer service my ex husband and I received. We went for an early dinner and he accidentally spilled the food before we could touch it. The owner graciously attended to the situation. He is hands on and the staff are attentive. The food was great. It was smiles all round. Great place to hang out

Went on Halloween for supper and bought a lamb diner kebab and a chicken gyros. While taking them back to my table I managed to spill both kebabs. The owner and the manager both immediately sprang into action, organised the cleaning and immediately ordered two more kebabs without any hesitation when it was completely my own fault. It was very much appreciated. The pub has put a premium on service and it shows. The staff had made a real effort for Halloween and the kids were thoroughly enjoying their outing.

Can't comment on the food yet, but my son loved it when he went. The drinks and atmosphere pretty decent though.

Lovely place, all fresh and new, nice staff, LOADS of beers. Only criticism would be that the music was too loud for a Saturday afternoon with just families

Popped in for a pint and burger from the bbq. Top of the range. Fast and super friendly service. Will be back again soon.

Re opened by someone who has experience running pubs and other customer facing businesses, and it shows! Great outside space and staff who show they are interested in serving customers what they want. Good selection of beers and ales. Food coming soon. Looking forward to seeing this place continue to serve the local community.

Pub has now reopened after extensive refurbishment. New outside decked area (although this has reduced the size of the car park quite a bit). Still dog friendly. A couple of real ales. Toilets very clean and modern. Food coming at a later date. Some comfy arm chairs inside.

Good value would go there again

We were on holiday in our motor home staying on a site in nearby Salhouse and after a day on the Broads and a cycle back we came across this pub. What an accidental great find! Lovely friendly staff and a great menu. My partner is vegetarian and there were 3 great choices of main courses. He has the mushroom suet pudding which came with new potatoes and seasonal vegetables and I had the sea bass with sauté new potatoes, spinach and broccoli. Both beautifully cooked and tasty. Sadly we didn’t have room for a dessert! All the meals being served looked lovely. It’s a pity we don’t live nearer or we would be regulars.

What another excellent meal last night with family. The steak was perfect as always, fantastic service from the waitress and of course Gary and Lyn. Such a nice place to eat and enjoy a drink

We popped in for a father's day meal, despite not booking in advance they were very accommodating and found us a table. We had rump steak x 2, roast and kids sausage and chips. The food was incredible, cooked to perfection, hot and fresh!!! This place truly is a hidden gem on the outskirts of Norwich.

Sadly just a fleeting visit but the food being devoured looked nice and they do have a great range of beers.

Had a few meals here now as just moved to the area, have not been disappointed at all, the food is great and reasonably priced. They stock some good rotational ales as well. Bar staff and landlady very friendly. My new local so see you there!

Good service and decent food; solid country pub.

Didn't like the atmosphere....sat around a corner away from the bar....large amount of food for the money but was pretty average....nice service....think if I go again it will be just to drink.

After the stare down from the locals who are all above 55 it was a nice meal with friendly staff.

Where to start on this beautiful hidden little gem! Having lived in the village over some 5 years ago and ever since we first visited the pub we've always found the food to be on point everytime, never a bad meal great portion sizes and excellent value for money, we now live away from the area but regularly travel back for food and drinks the staff and chef are always friendly and helpful, couldn't say a bad word against any of the staff or menu choices, highly recommended for families, dog owners or general pub goers alike. Atmosphere is nice they have curry nights, steak nights, pie nights, poker nights, fruit machine available to use a good choice of music on the juke box, lovely big sized gardens great for children and good bbqs in the summer with beer festivals. Just an overall excellent pub for food, families and singletons 😀

Very rude land lady who wasn't particularly dog friendly despite being a dog friendly pub. Also not open for the hours advertised. Shut at 2pm when advertised open till 3pm.

Good value lunchtime snack, but no cask ales

Absolutely loved this Sunday lunch visit, this is a little Gem in Rackheath, on Salhouse Road! Starters were amazing, both Roast Beef, Roast Turkey were amazing, deserts were amazing also. Being local, this is the best we have found. Staff very attentive and friendly, hats of to the Chef 👍👍 See you soon

Walked down for a few for new years and it's ticket holders only not good at all Update never open when it’s meant to be walked down at least 7 times now never open how do they manage to keep running I don’t know last time I even try to go here for a pint needs to be taken over or a new pub built around here very poor

The food here is really good. Reasonable prices, good sized portions and food is delicious. Can't ask for more really.

We arrived here by accident, having found it while searching for a dog-friendly place to eat in the area. It's a smallish place with an Art Deco front, and lots of plain wood inside. The welcome was friendly, and the food was quite excellent - my wife said it was the best liver and bacon she'd had for ages, and I discovered a new dessert (to me) called Spanish Doughnuts : beautifully presented small horseshoe-shaped doughnuts with a little bowl of chocolate sauce and another little bowl of ice-cream. What a discovery!

Excellent value for money and very tasty food.

Visited for Lunch. I had driven past the pub many times but not visited. To be honest the exterior doesn't do it any favours however inside is modern simple clean and a nice place to be. It was very quiet when we went in and so service was fast and friendly. The food was great well cooked and presented and a decent size portion. The price was reasonable not as expensive as places closer to the city and for better quality food than most. Will be going back and would recommend.

Good honest food and service. We had lunch on Sunday, which was busy but not a long wait. You could have a roast but there were more things to choose.

Great friendly Pub! Extremely nice service, decent choice behind the bar. Great juke box, dart and very spacious garden. Kids friendly and really well kept.

No atmosphere and rude bar maid. Having grown up in the village, I expected better than being ignored and told not to eat food put out for the card players that evening. Won't be going back.

My family and I just enjoyed their delicious Sunday roast take-away. Generous portions for £9 for a standard or £7.50 for a smaller portion which suited my mum. There were 3 choices of meat beef, pork or turkey. All served with a Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and pigs in blanket. Everything was cooked to perfection. Thank you to the whole team. Supporting local business during COVID.

Visited today (Sunday). The pub has been recently refurbished, and it looks great! Much improved. The service we received was prompt & attentive. Sunday roast was well presented and tasted yum! As did the desserts! Great quality food, which is also very good value for decent home cooked food. Speedy service also but not rushed. Well done all, see you again soon.

Had passed by many times so decided to visit for lunch.Ordered off the Vintage menu(2 courses for £9) and were amazed at the size of the portions.The battered cod was big and tasty and the sticky toffee pudding nice but wish I had had the crumble which my wife had as it looked and tasted great.We will return to try something else of the varied menu.

No booking was necessary for dinner here while we visited during our few days in Norfolk this year. A lovely meal and very attentive staff.

Taken here as a guest - never been before and was not sure what to expect. Arriving it looked nothing special from the outside. However, the food and service were exceptional plus it is very fairly priced. Everyone in the party had similar views so definitely on the list for a return visit.

Visited with a family group of 15. I must say this was the best roast I had eaten in a pub for ages (and I do eat out a lot!) the vegetarian roast was very tasty too and was homemade. There was a very good choice of desserts and they were well presented and delicious. The staff were friendly and as we were celebrating a birthday, they couldn’t do enough for us. I would recommend this pub to anyone who likes traditional, homecooked food.

Once again we had lunch with our friends, the 2 course lunch for £9 is excellent value, good selection to choose from the menu, the quality of the food is very good. Will return when we are walking in the area.

Been recommended this place by others, chunky chips are wedges, skinny fries are chips,cheesecake was a mousse,chicken overcooked, steaks cooked wrong, and a piece of wood found amongst chips??,

There were 6 in our party for lunch at the Sole and Heel, it was a first for our friends, we had the 2 course from the vintage menu, have to say very good choices of main and deserts.

As above, I was a bit dubious but after a recommendation I decided to try a Sunday roast. A proper locals pub but not like others in Norfolk where they all stare at you! We ate in the bar and no one was bothered we were there. The food was amazing. Home cooked with plenty of everything, friendly staff who went out of their way to help us, a good choice of deserts, I can’t say anymore other than a must try. Don’t be fooled by the decor inside and out let the staff and the food convince you!

From minute walked in warm friendly welcoming atmosphere staff superb spoilt for choice menu wise ordered Hunters chicken bacon melted cheese on bbq sauce new garlic potatoes coleslaw grilled tomato and mushrooms huge onion rings and Salad garnish wow absolutely beautiful fish pie and veg ordered along with proper steak pie by others the sweets to die for especially the cheese cake

Nice place for a drink and meal

We went here for a pre wedding meal and the food was fantastic, the staff are extremely friendly and we couldn't fault it, the portions were massive.
