A budget cafe with good value for money if you on the move

fantastic prices, great coffee, lots of vegan options, easy filling food. perfect breakfast in my book!

Place just off the main streets frequented by workers and locals who stop to grab a specialty. The interior is very small, just 5 stools and a counter corner (and 2 external benches) you order take away both simple toasts/sandwiches and more complete breakfasts with vegetarian choices. Coffee in various types, tea, various drinks. Fair prices and you finish your meal satisfied. Well done!

Was just here. Breakfast wrap was delicious and reasonably priced which was helpful for this traveler :) would definitely come back, might even come back tomorrow!

Snax Cafe is a fantastic low key hole-in-the-wall breakfast spot with no pretentions. Serving coffee, tea, and a variety of breakfast options including rolls, sandwiches, and paninis. It is a great for a breakfast on the go while heading to catch a train at Waverley or walking Princes St.

The snap cafe must've had a refurb since the last time I was there. It's always mobbed. The food is freshly prepared, so expect to wait a few minutes. 👍

I ordered a chicken wrap this past Monday and got food poisoning from this! Please check your food’s expiry dates I believe your chicken was totally off! I also had to wait about 20 min for this to be made.

The food was relatively good but the service is suuuuper slow. I spent a couple of days in that area, tried different foods and I believe this was one of the best cafes in the neighborhood so far. The portions are adequate as I ate the wrap as a brunch and was full until night.

Such an underrated place. I'm so glad I decided to visit because honestly, this was my best experience with haggis and I tried it at 3 other places that were much higher-end. The breakfast haggis they serve is fried and tasted so good and the price is just so worth it.

Best breakfast I've had in years. Scottish breakfast wrap was amazing . The ladies were really lovely and even did a bit of plain toast for my fussy daughter. Set us up for the day ! Thank you .

Great and possibly best option for traditional breakfast lovers in Edinburgh's center. Eggs, beans, bacon, black pudding, haggis, tomato, hash browns, sausages... it's all there. Small, busy, locals, great prices.

The café is quite small and if you want to eat there, you'll need a bit of luck. We had the biggest and the bigger breakfast and 2 cappuccini. The service was friendly and the coffee is GREAT for outside Italy (I say that as an Italian). The food is ok, the portions are generous. All in all we paid 24 euros. If you want space and peace and quiet, weatherspoon is a better option... except for the coffee, which is terrible.

It was so unbelievably slow and the food is just not impressive. Since it was taking too long for orders to come out, people were leaving without their food or crammed into the tiny seating area making it really uncomfortable as you waited. It took about 45 minutes to get two breakfast wraps. McDonald’s is right down the street and my recommendation over this place.

Lovely food and cheap prices - half the price of anywhere else I found in the city centre. Not much seating available - maybe enough for 8 people max on benches around the window. Great for takeaways and people were even ordering via deliveroo from there.

An unprepossessing cafe in a small Edinburgh back street serving quite lovely food with friendly & committed staff. I think it's only a lack of awareness about this place that stops queues around the block.

Very small and no frills cafe, but definitely worth a visit. Not much seating room but we managed. Big menu with many traditional breakfast dishes. Very friendly service.

Really disappointed in how.bad this place has become used to be a lunchtime gem with really hardworking staff and great service. Now it's suddenly really poor food gone downhill, prices up and staff are incredibly rude forget orders and have a go if you dare to suggest anything. Sad times former loyal customer don't think I'll be back

A cozy place in a non rush setting yet is busy. Its hidden location makes it an excellent choice for having an experience. The food is simple and cooked fresh. Good for a heavy mornin brekkie.

Πήγα δυο φορές και το φαγητο είναι υπεροχο ειδικά για κάποιον που δεν είναι ντόπιος και θέλει να φάει σαν ντόπιος . Αλλά την δεύτερη μέρα στο ταμείο η κοπέλα άκουσε τα μισά από την παραγγελία μου κι αυτά λάθος . Φέρνοντας με σε δύσκολη θέση καθώς περίμενα το πρωινό μου ενώ αυτό δεν είχε παραγγελθεί ποτε .

The staff and manager/owner need to go on a crash course on providing good customer service. Terrible attitude from the staff and the owner, extremely slow service and the customer doesn't seem to be important in this place. Very overrated, don't waste your money.

Best veggie breakfast wrap ever!!!! I was in EDI for 2 days. I would stay longer just for the food from here. Don't judge it for the location, don't judge it for the design.

Bought the biggest breakfast first thing in the morning. It's probably the worst breakfast I've ever had. Cheap sausages Way over cooked slice sausage. Haggis that small it was hidden under the beans. Everything was either way over cooked or under cooked. I'm sure the overcooked parts were re-heated from left overs the day before. That's how bad it was. It's a shame as I've had great food from there in the past, but this has put me off going back.

Came up as the best rated café in the city centre so went in for their big breakfast. Haggis was decent, as was the bacon, but the link sausage, Lorne sausage and black pudding were extremely poor quality and everything was mostly dry. In hindsight we should have just gone to Spoons...

Great tasty food and quick service. One of the few places in the city centre that still offer traditional Scottish breakfast and rolls at a very reasonable price.

Great food at a great price & all freshly cooked

I went in for a breakfast this morning and the length of time to order and receive the breakfast was about 10 mins which if you assume all the food is cooked to order would be acceptable. When I got the breakfast I had takeaway which was for their luck. Had I eaten indoors for an extra 40 p the food would have been given back! In all my 50 years this goes down as the worst food experience I’ve ever had. The cheap sausages came out of a deep fat fryer which is lazy and all it does is make the outer skin tough and inedible, the black pudding again poor quality was cold as were the cheap beans, the bacon had been shown no love as the fat was still squealing and the egg was over easy again cold and cooked by someone who really shouldn’t be allowed near a range. Absolutely scandalous and by far the worst breakfast I have ever eaten or tried to eat. Never again! For comparison try cjs cafe dalry road similar price but another level altogether. Absolutely scandalous .

Frankly why would you go anywhere else if you want a snack . Loverly young chatty staff even to the lad who was leaving . We have been several times and its always busy.

The ladies working were super sweet and I liked that you could pop in for a quick breakfast and tea/coffee.

Recommended to me by a local, this place did not disappoint! A very authentic feeling place, and the food is absolutely true Scottish eats. Perfect for those who like to avoid tourist spots and eat like a local. The biggest breakfast is to die for! Go go go.

We order the veggie breakfast, promoted by the signs outside the room. We explicitly ask for "veggie breakfast" both when ordering and we ask for confirmation when the food is delivered to us. After a few minutes we doubt that the sausages and sausages aren't actually vegetarian, so we ask for confirmation for the third time. The waitress apologizes and tells us that indeed there was a mistake. We answer that there is no problem so she takes the plate away and offers to bring us the vegan sausages that we had already paid for. At that point the owner intervenes but requires her to charge us for the "new" order. Swindler, greedy and grouchy

This tiny place is hidden away in an alley behind Princes street and it’s a really great place to get a quick, hearty, and cheap breakfast. We went several times during our short stay in edinburgh. They have hot & iced coffee and every combination of eggs, meat, toast, and rolls you want, plus lots of vegan & vegetarian options. Lunch options too!! Highly recommend!!

Only go if u want to wait 20 min or more for your food and for them to get your order wrong and then say aw there was a mistake then get it wrong again wouldn’t recommend

A small cafe located on a back street but serving decent breakfast options. The portions are generous for the price. Service is quick, and they have around 10 places inside if you want to dine in. The menus can be seen outside the shop too.

Visited on Sunday 21st for a breakfast roll, £4.60 for bacon & egg roll with a latte. Great service & great value, we come here for breakfast every time we’re in Edinburgh, unfortunately we were out of luck yesterday as our timing was poor & the queue lengthy so we went elsewhere, today we got there before 10 & all was well. We happened upon it by chance a few years ago & have never looked back! I really don’t understand the poor reviews as we’ve never had a bad experience from here!

Learn how to cook a tattie scone! Raw and soggy man! Asked for soft eggs, coulda bounced them aff the wall. Could see the big boss lady getting stressed in her wee kitchen wi the Aussie lass wi aww the colours in her hair an the other lassies running about the back like headless chickens. It’s busy I get it but waited 20mins so no need for this grub being sent out to people. My mate got the chilli and it was just like a slab o meat. No sauce wi half cooked chips. The boys told me to come to this braw wee cafe, they musta still been peeved when they came like. Shambles!

Really good. The breakfast wrap is a stone cold hangover killa. I'm actually looking forward to returning to Edinburgh just to go back to Snax. Deducted a star because it was raining while I waited for my wrap and I'm clearly not as hardcore as the rest of the people in the queue.

Visited Edinburgh last month or so and stumbled across Snax. It's exactly what I was looking for, a no fuss, old style prices breafkast/lunch spot. The food was what you want for the price, no more no less and the service was great, the girls I saw running the place were clearly on the ball. I whole heartedly reccomend it to anyone looking for a no frills place to grub. I also reccommend the 3 filling breakfast baps. Veggie haggis, egg and hash brown totally hit the spot. We spent ages trying to find a good sandwich shop and finally we found this place! It was perfect! Fresh,tasty food at a sensible price. Just bought a Lorne sausage with egg.. disgusting.. sausage was doing a good job of imitating and ice hockey puk and the egg was so overcooked I felt like burying it.. hit the bin pronto. Scared to drink the coffee.. never be back.. typical greasy spoon..
