I absolutely loved this place! The za’atar eggs were delicious.Their matcha was better than I expected, and the ginger shot did not disappoint. I would definitely come back!

Fantastic food, drinks & service in this quirky cafe. The best Birthday breakfast. We had Baked eggs with goats cheese, Banoffee French toast with great coffee, ginger shot & a healthy flavoursome smoothie. A must visit we will be back

The haggis and black pudding with chilli jam was out of this world.

A little gem really. Food was very good and different from the standard food you see everywhere. Coffee was decent but a tad bitter. No syrups which is always disappointing. Forgot one of our drinks but apologised. Staff were all very polite.

The most incredible breakfast!! And my sister specifically said “the best coffee she’s ever had” The staff were full of beautiful energy and did their best to get us a table. Lovely experience would 100% recommend :)

Amazing food! My boyfriend got the chicken burger and the chips and aioli and they were unreal! I got the walnut and pear porridge and it was class. Definitely worth the prices.

Perfect! One of the waitresses is Spanish so it was very convenient! Everything so delicious!

Service was so lovely and we absolutely devoured our breakfasts. If you happen to enjoy artichokes and coriander, I cannot recommend enough the artichoke lemon toast with chimichurri butter beans, it was absolutely scrumptious!

Magnificent service, super friendly and the dishes are super delicious. We ordered a za’ atar spiced scramble toast and it was pretty good. We also ordered some baked eggs with goat cheese and they were sensational. I ordered a banana pancake with a chocolate edge. It was delicious. They have breakfast all day and the bathroom is pretty good.

Really cute spot for brunch, luckily they squeezed us in even though they were booked up! Got the banoffee french toast and eggs benedict with chorizo and chipotle hollandaise, both were lovely. Coffee was also really nice.

Love, love love! A gem of a place. We tried for an hour to find a nice brunch place to sit and relax it without a reservation. They had a lot of customers but were super accommodating and friendly, did not rush us at all and the food was delicious and fresh. We had just come back from another restaurant that had super rude staff so this was so refreshing to experience.

I wanted to go to this place a long time ago, and just got the chance a couple of days ago. It is a wonderfully cozy and rustic spot. The atmosphere is charming, and the setting provides a perfect place to relax. The food and service are both excellent, making it a delightful experience overall.

Managed to get a table by dropping in, service & food was so good we have booked again for tomorrow, 1/12/24 no pics sorry, we both had the most beautiful scrambled eggs. So so tasty 👏👏

Very busy, would recommend to reserve a table through their website during weekends. Nice and attentive staff. Good cappuccino however the baked eggs was very underwhelming. Cosy cafe, centrally located with decent coffee and baked goods.

Worth a visit just for the almond croissants. So good, I was in town from London two weeks in a row and made a point of visiting 😋 Also one of the best coffee shops in town. The 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 rolls are also v v good 😍

Nice food but ridiculous cost. £8 for one piece of sourdough and 2 eggs is outrageous. Was nothing special about them - no seasoning or sauce or anything to justify such a price.

My daughter and I had Lunch here yesterday. It was relaxed and friendly, with great food, and reasonable prices for the quality.

Urban Angel is one of my favourite spots to go for a breakfast/lunch. The staff are almost always positive and friendly, despite how super busy they get. The food is absolutely fantastic with so many good options and the coffee is good also. I honestly haven't found another breakfast place that's better. I never come away smelling like fried food, which happens in most other cafés. This place really is a credit to Edinburgh 💜

Food and coffee was absolutely delicious but it wasn’t the most comfortable experience being sat on a bar stool facing the wall eating my breakfast. I think those seats should only be used for drinks, not food

Great little place for brunch. Got here at 8:30 and was told kitchen would not be open until 9. No problem I enjoyed a lovely coffee and I am glad I waited! The food was amazing and kept me full for the whole day. I enjoyed the banana French toast and a roll however I had it over spinach instead of the bread. It was very delicious and boy they were busy! By the time I got my food they already had an hour wait. The locals must know this is a good place to go. Very fresh ingredients with great choices to satisfy anyone's desire.

Excellent breakfast and welcoming !

Rude staff - we had a reservation for 2 on a cold and windy day. We came in, sat at our table and the door remained open. We asked them to close the door and they responsed that they cannot. When we moved onto the next table they told us that we can’t sit there because the table was for three people (although the same size). They were very rude and not accommodating at all. I don’t recommend this place.

I attended here today with my friend after looking for somewhere for brunch. Looking at the reviews and menu, I’m sure it would be a lovely place to eat. The prices were a little extortionate but we were prepared to pay. Unfortunately, the staff said that it would be an hour wait for a table which I said I’d be happy to do. It felt like you were a hindrance and because I offered to wait, they did not seem interested in your custom and wanted you out the door as quickly as possible. I understand that you’re busy and that it’s a weekend, but the rudeness of the staff has put me off completely. First impressions really do count. Such a shame.

Staff is very friendly despite being already too tired (overworked) at lunch time. Food was too fatty, focaccia was disgusting with so much "dropping" fat (most likely not olive oil...). Coffee (expresso) was excellent. But too expensive. Rooms and tables are not very confortable. Not a ice place to have a meal. Summary - not worth the price.

Excellent gluten-free breakfast. However, the place is small and it is advisable to book otherwise it could be difficult to find a seat.

Put this on your list for breakfast. The atmosphere is bright and airy amidst an old cooking kitchen that’s brightened with plants and candles. Patio out back. Nice selection of breakfast offerings, but be sure to try the yummy peanut butter and maca bowl and the baked eggs with goat cheese.

Very cute and super popular place, make sure you make a reservation. The service is very friendly but the dishes took a long time to arrive (simple toast) and even then some of it was missing (the egg broke so they brought the toast without it(?) the food we ate was delicious.

Gluten free French toast? Say less. The bread was so soft and delicious you couldn’t even tell it was GF. My husband really loved the black pudding as well.

Had breakfast here this morning and it was delish! Booked a table after reading really good reviews about the place. I got the Greek yoghurt bowl and my partner got the roasted cauliflower toast. Both were incredible with excellent coffee and fast service. Highly recommend!

Fabulous food!! I was lucky enough to get right in -reservations recommended!! Had the Eggs Benedict with portobello mushrooms and veggie haggis along with a latte. Delicious!! All locally sourced and ask about food allergies with every order.

Nice basement cafe with a number of intimate small dining areas. The breakfast food we had was very tasty and pretty decent value. Service was prompt and friendly throughout the visit, and the coffees were well made and hot.

that’s honestly my most favourite place in edinburgh for brunch. we spent every special occasion there, and today was my partner’s birthday. every staff member was absolutely cute, and almost made me cry (in a good way lol) when they made a gift for my partner. this place deserves more then 5* and I will always recommend it to my friends ❤️

We ordered an iced latte and piccolo, but both had very sour and bitter tastes. We could not finish the drinks. The atmosphere is nice, but the drinks were very disappointing.

Visited twice on a recent visit to Edinburgh. The staff are wonderful, even remembered us the second time despite being a very popular spot. The food is beautiful and fresh. Both meals were stunning and you cannot fault it. The coffee was amazing, brilliantly made with smooth tasting coffee beans.

Very good specialty coffee. Service was fast and friendly. Cinnamon roll and french toast were amazing. Good selection of freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. We were lucky enough to find a table straight away but for groups of more than 2, a booking is recommended.

We were able to make same day brunch reservations, and Urban Angel was the perfect pick me up for the day after a wedding with an open bar. The batch brew coffee (which this American was grateful to see on the menu) was strong. Portions were more generous than I had anticipated from other reviews. And I highly highly recommend the scrambled eggs on toast! It sounds like an uninteresting menu item, but Urban Angel made them spicy, fluffy, and fulfilling-- I'll be dreaming about that breakfast.

Food was alright. Have never felt more pressured to leave. First thing that was said was “we need to table back in 1h15”. Then to be told after 40 minutes that they need it back in 5 mins. One way to get rid of paying customers. Wouldn’t return, far better service a 2 minute walk away

Food was delicious! A bit expensive but I'd say it was worth it! Servers were polite and helpful! We had a bacon and sausage roll as well as baked eggs. Was lovely!

We didn't have a reservation but they were easily able to fit us in for breakfast. Quick service for both food and coffees. Alternative milks available We ordered the Benny with bacon, and Benny with mushrooms and spinach. Yum!

The cafe is very cute with a warm feeling and decorated cosy. They have a big variety of food and drinks and the portions have a good size. However the personnel is not very knowledgeable about allergens. The person serving me and my friends didn’t know that oats contain gluten. Also there are only little options for vegan food and one has to pay a surcharge for plant based milk. A mandatory 10% tip was added to our bill.

I tried the Baked Egg with Tomato and Goat Cheese, chips, and green juice. We had the closure with the bannofi french toast. Oscar was very helpful and gave us the recommendations 👍🏼. All were great and delicious. I would definitely visit again and any new visitor to Edinburgh must try it.

Friendly service and nice ambience. The baked eggs were nice, but very overpriced and they were overcooked. The flavour was good and the ingredients were fresh. The matcha latte was average with a lot of matcha powder clumped together.

Happy with the food, though it is very expensive for the portion size. What wasn't so great is how rushed they were with us at the end-- borderline rude. We felt very unwelcome.
