Magnificent breakfast. We’ve been couple of times during our visit in Edinburgh and every time the food and service exceeded expectations.

Amazing brunch with friends! The service was fantastic and we all said how lovely each member of the team was, it just made the experience something we talked about fondly afterwards! The food was delicious (especially the French toast!) and the overall atmosphere in the venue was perfect. Can’t wait to come back next time we visit Edinburgh! Thank you all

What a find! After some online searching for the perfect breakfast spot in Edinburgh, I came across Urban Angel and we booked the last available pre booking slot for 11am. We arrived to see the place bustling and a queue outside - as we had our online booking we were quickly shown to our table. Inside the place is fantastic. A tastefully converted old house with original stoves along one side and old photos around the room. It was busy and full of people enjoying brunch or catching up with friends. Our drinks and brunch were exceptional. The attentive staff couldn’t have been more helpful - observant, quick and plenty of their team bustling around to provide fast service in this very popular spot. We are so pleased we found this place and will be sure to return on any future visits to Edinburgh. Thank you all for a great experience and wonderful food.

A super cute and cozy breakfast diner with greetings from super friendly staff! We got lucky and got the last seat, and then watched them turn away people constantly after as it was full. This was just before 9am on a Friday. So plan agreed. I had the eggs benedict and a croissant, both wonderful! My husband had the French toast with granola and he loved it. There coffee is also really good here, both the cappuccino and mocha! We will love to come back, and recommend to anyone to give this place a try!

Everyone who works here is crazy nice, cool, chill and attentive. They get every detail correct, are accommodating of your needs and give spot on recs. Honestly, I don't like to repeat restaurants when I travel, but this place was 💯 with it - we were back 2 daysi n a row...and had planned it for a 3rd lunch (but got sidetracked). That good. Different items ordered both times and everything was delicious. Big love to all the Urban Angels 😇 here!

If you want a plain breakfast, go to any boring chain restaurant... Now, if you want your food to kick start your day the right way, get yourself to Urban Angel. The food was insanely good, the staff were lovely and the service was fast, cheerful and nothing was a bother. I can't recommend this place enough. I wanted to try everything on the menu after the first bite. (Pictured is the eggs benedict with chorizo, spinach and chipotle hollandaise sauce)

Visitamos este lugar increíble por recomendación de nuestro hijo y nos quedamos muy contentos de haberlo hecho. Nos encontramos con un personal muy agradable y nos dieron una mesa en la zona trasera que es bastante espaciosa. El menú era extenso y elegimos el revuelto especiado en tostadas y la granola con plátano con delicioso café. La comida era deliciosa y nos dimos un capricho con una segunda bebida también. Me encantó todo sobre la visita!

El ambiente era muy agradable. La calidad de la comida era buena. Pero yo diría que la cantidad debería ser mejor por persona. Pedimos tostadas francesas Banoffi, yo lo calificaría 8/10. Café era 8 / 10.

I would not miss the opportunity to taste the cuisine at Urban Angel Café. It is absolutely delicious. The service is wonderful. Highly recommend the Eggs Benedict with chorizo - it has got to be the best I've ever eaten.

Ten years ago this was the place to eat, recently gone down hill, hasn’t kept up with the competition, asked for a spoon twenty minutes later had to go get one myself, got an açai bowl, which just tasted of frozen banana puree no other flavour, had a powdery residue, despite telling staff and me having left 95 percent off it no alternative was offered, I know menu said £4 for toast I was charged £7, I did not leave tip as food was mediocre and service was below average, staff were annoyed tried to ask me to pay it, even though it’s discretionary

£7 for two slices of sourdough toast, butter and jam. Far too expensive. And then to have the cheek to add a service charge!

Excelente lugar! ¡Tuvimos brunch aquí esta semana, 5 estrellas! Servicio increíble desde el principio, el personal es amable, cálido y eficiente. Ambiente brillante y un lugar encantador. Grandes opciones de menú para vegetarianos y consumidores de carne! Tuvimos una opción vegetariana y una elección de carne, ambos platos eran increíbles! Recomendaría el humus en masa agria, hermosa! Las bebidas también eran fabulosas, tuvimos varias bebidas frías y calientes, todo increíble! Precio razonable para tan buena comida y servicio! Recomendamos encarecidamente este lugar! Sin duda volvería cuando regrese a Edimburgo!

Аn absolute must visit breakfast /all dining place. The staff and service is 5 stars and the food is amazing. We tried a couple of the breakfast options and the Bannoffe French toast is a must, divine !!! ❤️

Esta fue mi primera visita aquí y no será la última. Habíamos reservado una mesa para el almuerzo, pero posiblemente podría haber entrado (mejor reservar por si acaso). Muy lindo por dentro y tiene un ambiente encantador. Personal muy amable y muy acogedor. La hamburguesa halloumi con patatas fritas era magnífica y la sopa del día con focaccia que fue un placer. Un par de copas de vino y dos excelentes cafés completaron un gran almuerzo. Me hubiera encantado tener pasteles, ya que se veían fabulosos, pero estábamos demasiado llenos. ¡Qué hallazgo más absoluto, tan chuffed haber visitado y no puede esperar a volver.

A hyped up place on lots of GF/DF Edinburgh blogs. The staff were friendly and accommodating, Coffe was good, but sadly not a great review from me. Party of 4, prebooked. We arrived hoping for some yummy or interesting breakfasts as the menu seemed to promise. Their gluten free options were limited and the bread served was horrendous quality, not even toasted or buttered?! We paid between £11 and £17 a head. The food was mediocre at best. Would've liked to try the french toast as that looked and smelt amazing!...but it is only available with dairy. Poached eggs tasted of vinegar. I would not recommend the items we chose: za'atar spiced scrambled eggs on toast with spicy hollandaise, fresh coriander & jalapeno salsa - very meh and surprisingly flavourless. poached eggs on toast, + mushrooms + gf bread - tiny mushrooms grilled into oblivion, possibly the worst gf bread ever, untoasted and unbuttered. hummus on sourdough toast with cherry tomatoes, pickled shallots, za'atar, salda verde, capers & crispy chickpeas - the most interesting of all that we ordered, but really needed more salt! Anyone else of hummus being the go-to for vegans?

We stumbled across urban Angel cafe and we were so glad we did. Beautiful decor and the service was excellent, Erika served us some really tasty mock tails and cocktails. I had the banana pudding pancakes my husband had the Nashville hot fried pork chop sammy they were both delicious. I would highly recommend.

This cafe is very cosy and the service was friendly and quick. I had the plum French toast which was lovely. I feel the price of some menu items is quite high, such as the hummus toast for £15, as it was one (very small) piece of bread with some toms and chickpeas really. I don't see how those ingredients amount to that price. Not many vegan choices

Really good coffee. The banana pancakes could do with fresh rather than dried banana. Avoid sitting near the door, very few people are capable of closing it.

A favourite place from a previous visit to Edinburgh. Went twice on this trip and was no less impressed this time around. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to next time! Update 2025, as above. Just as good as ever

Eggs perfectly poached, flavoursome eggs Benedict. Halloumi burger tasted great & home made fries was perfect. Carrot cake was flavoursome but a little on the dry side. Friendly service :)

I’d heard a lot about Urban Angel cafe and know it’s a popular brunch spot, but I found it to be overhyped. The food was just okay. I had the eggs Benedict with black pudding and spicy Hollandaise, but the poached eggs were overcooked, and the dish felt lukewarm. At £13.90, there are much better brunch options in terms of quality and value. The staff were friendly, but we were rushed out at the end, which felt a bit rude. I wouldn’t hurry back.

Amazing food and amazing service! It’s a bit sad that it’s not closer to the city center but the little trip was worth it!

The eggs Benedict were very good! I liked the fireplace in the room which gives a warmer atmosphere. I recommend!

Came here for breakfast once while on a 2 week holiday/vacation November of 2023. Out of all the places we ate and drank in the UK this place had the best lattes. I very much enjoyed the french toast and my wife liked her benny with blood pudding (It was our 1st time and better than expected). This establishment is one of the few we remember fondly that ends up in conversation, more than a year after visiting.

The food portion is large, the toast is delicious, the bacon in the eggs Benedict is a bit hard; the milkshake is delicious, you can try it

I had the Greek yoghurt with granola. It had the potential to be really good but unfortunately it was kind of a dry experience. The granola failed. I wasn’t sweet or crunchy at all… felt dusty in my mouth. I wonder how they call it granola? The curd was amazing though. Coffee was great and staff extremely nice.

I absolutely loved this place! The za’atar eggs were delicious.Their matcha was better than I expected, and the ginger shot did not disappoint. I would definitely come back!

Fantastic food, drinks & service in this quirky cafe. The best Birthday breakfast. We had Baked eggs with goats cheese, Banoffee French toast with great coffee, ginger shot & a healthy flavoursome smoothie. A must visit we will be back

A little gem really. Food was very good and different from the standard food you see everywhere. Coffee was decent but a tad bitter. No syrups which is always disappointing. Forgot one of our drinks but apologised. Staff were all very polite.

The haggis and black pudding with chilli jam was out of this world.

The most incredible breakfast!! And my sister specifically said “the best coffee she’s ever had” The staff were full of beautiful energy and did their best to get us a table. Lovely experience would 100% recommend :)

Amazing food! My boyfriend got the chicken burger and the chips and aioli and they were unreal! I got the walnut and pear porridge and it was class. Definitely worth the prices.

Perfect! One of the waitresses is Spanish so it was very convenient! Everything so delicious!

Service was so lovely and we absolutely devoured our breakfasts. If you happen to enjoy artichokes and coriander, I cannot recommend enough the artichoke lemon toast with chimichurri butter beans, it was absolutely scrumptious!

Magnificent service, super friendly and the dishes are super delicious. We ordered a za’ atar spiced scramble toast and it was pretty good. We also ordered some baked eggs with goat cheese and they were sensational. I ordered a banana pancake with a chocolate edge. It was delicious. They have breakfast all day and the bathroom is pretty good.

Love, love love! A gem of a place. We tried for an hour to find a nice brunch place to sit and relax it without a reservation. They had a lot of customers but were super accommodating and friendly, did not rush us at all and the food was delicious and fresh. We had just come back from another restaurant that had super rude staff so this was so refreshing to experience.

I wanted to go to this place a long time ago, and just got the chance a couple of days ago. It is a wonderfully cozy and rustic spot. The atmosphere is charming, and the setting provides a perfect place to relax. The food and service are both excellent, making it a delightful experience overall.

Managed to get a table by dropping in, service & food was so good we have booked again for tomorrow, 1/12/24 no pics sorry, we both had the most beautiful scrambled eggs. So so tasty 👏👏

Very busy, would recommend to reserve a table through their website during weekends. Nice and attentive staff. Good cappuccino however the baked eggs was very underwhelming. Cosy cafe, centrally located with decent coffee and baked goods.

Worth a visit just for the almond croissants. So good, I was in town from London two weeks in a row and made a point of visiting 😋 Also one of the best coffee shops in town. The 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 rolls are also v v good 😍

Nothing special. Quantity is good for value for money but lack of refinement in the way plates are cooked. Can find better places in town for the price. Environment is good though.

Nice food but ridiculous cost. £8 for one piece of sourdough and 2 eggs is outrageous. Was nothing special about them - no seasoning or sauce or anything to justify such a price.

My daughter and I had Lunch here yesterday. It was relaxed and friendly, with great food, and reasonable prices for the quality.

Urban Angel is one of my favourite spots to go for a breakfast/lunch. The staff are almost always positive and friendly, despite how super busy they get. The food is absolutely fantastic with so many good options and the coffee is good also. I honestly haven't found another breakfast place that's better. I never come away smelling like fried food, which happens in most other cafés. This place really is a credit to Edinburgh 💜

Food and coffee was absolutely delicious but it wasn’t the most comfortable experience being sat on a bar stool facing the wall eating my breakfast. I think those seats should only be used for drinks, not food

Great little place for brunch. Got here at 8:30 and was told kitchen would not be open until 9. No problem I enjoyed a lovely coffee and I am glad I waited! The food was amazing and kept me full for the whole day. I enjoyed the banana French toast and a roll however I had it over spinach instead of the bread. It was very delicious and boy they were busy! By the time I got my food they already had an hour wait. The locals must know this is a good place to go. Very fresh ingredients with great choices to satisfy anyone's desire.

Excellent cafe with an excellent menu and service.

Rude staff - we had a reservation for 2 on a cold and windy day. We came in, sat at our table and the door remained open. We asked them to close the door and they responsed that they cannot. When we moved onto the next table they told us that we can’t sit there because the table was for three people (although the same size). They were very rude and not accommodating at all. I don’t recommend this place.

I attended here today with my friend after looking for somewhere for brunch. Looking at the reviews and menu, I’m sure it would be a lovely place to eat. The prices were a little extortionate but we were prepared to pay. Unfortunately, the staff said that it would be an hour wait for a table which I said I’d be happy to do. It felt like you were a hindrance and because I offered to wait, they did not seem interested in your custom and wanted you out the door as quickly as possible. I understand that you’re busy and that it’s a weekend, but the rudeness of the staff has put me off completely. First impressions really do count. Such a shame.

Absolutely gorgeous experience … I would rate top two breakfast places in Edinburgh … love their crispy croissant, love the range in the for scones as well breakfast sandwiches

Staff is very friendly despite being already too tired (overworked) at lunch time. Food was too fatty, focaccia was disgusting with so much "dropping" fat (most likely not olive oil...). Coffee (expresso) was excellent. But too expensive. Rooms and tables are not very confortable. Not a ice place to have a meal. Summary - not worth the price.

Excellent gluten-free breakfast. However, the place is small and it is advisable to book otherwise it could be difficult to find a seat.

Put this on your list for breakfast. The atmosphere is bright and airy amidst an old cooking kitchen that’s brightened with plants and candles. Patio out back. Nice selection of breakfast offerings, but be sure to try the yummy peanut butter and maca bowl and the baked eggs with goat cheese.

Cute place with a good different breakfast - had baked eggs with goat cheese! Wife had the peanut butter Macca bowl.
