I liked the brunch at urban angel, food was delicious, staff was very kind, I would come here again!

Food was great - some unique dishes you won't find at most brunch spots. Service sadly was quite slow - took like 25 mins just for the coffee to arrive, though the staff seemed to be working at maximal pace they could.

The place is overrated, the quality and individual mix of portions is not worth the price

Price performance great! The service was great. Nice and very fast. Within 15 minutes we had our food and drinks.

Delicious! Got the porridge with apple, custard, and crumble, I found the crumble to be a bit too sweet but together it made a delicious bowl of porridge.

The food was not to my taste, it could have used some greens because it was very greasy. Also the price was pretty high for portions so small. But the atmosphere was nice and the staff very friendly

Gorgeous food and great selection on the menu in terms of food, juices, drinks, etc. One of our favourite spots from our trip. Staff were very friendly and service was good. Lovely and clean building with a relaxing atmosphere.

Little gem in Edinburgh.Food was absolutely delicious smoothie delicious peppermint tea was proper tea served in a little tea pot settled my stomach after a not so nice Indian the night before 🤨Would 100% recommend and if I go back to Edinburgh this spot will be number 1 on my list for breakfast had the wow factor 👌

Had breakfast yesterday. Very good food and service. BUT the toilets were absolutely filthy, disgusting. Would never eat here again because of that.

Amazing food! Service was very quick and the staff were all lovely. I have a gluten allergy and there were plenty of gluten free options available. We actually came back the next day for brunch as we really enjoyed ourselves. Would highly recommend!

Try to avoid urban angel. The staff is arrogant, even going as far as to comment that you’re taking too long with your order, which is unacceptable. Their facial expressions are grumpy and unfriendly, reminiscent of the type of service one might expect in London, not Scotland. Additionally, the food is below average; for example, the eggs Benedict portion size is small, so consider ordering additions if you’re hungry. Furthermore, the sauce is not up to par; I recommend going to Iwi for a proper one. As for the ‘carrot cake,’ it’s not a carrot cake at all; it’s disgustingly over-sweet, like eating pure sugar with a fork. I have no idea where 4,5 stars in google came from.

Good food, the service in general is terrible, except for a very nice girl. Very expensive, two plates of eggs Benedict and two coffees 57 pounds! There is no access for the disabled, they don't even take it into account, they say you can eat outside, it's a chimera, they don't serve inside, therefore outside, there is no way. We will not return again!

Super friendly staff, delicious food and they can prepare gluten-free dishes (and take into account that there is no cross-contamination). Recommended for anyone with Celiac disease

We had a great breakfast there and the staff made us laugh several times. Friendly and caring. Dog friendly. Nice food. Definitely a place to come back to.

Had a lovely breakfast here, we ordered baked eggs with black pudding with a chilli jam and poached eggs with gf bread hollandaise sauce with a wee kick! I had the sunshine glow Smoothie, my daughter ordered one too it was green but can't remember the name both were nice. Total bill was £45 which I thought was a bit expensive but I guess that's Edinburgh for ya

We’re on holidays and wanted to try the Café because of the good feedback. You couldn’t book a table for the next couple of days so we just tried without a reservation. We arrived and the waitress told us that they don’t have a table for the next 40 minutes and we should just go to another Café. But the weather was very windy and rainy and we said that we just wait there. The waitress came back 5 minutes later and told us that we should leave and just to go und have breakfast at another place or leave and come back in 40 minutes. Definitely not coming back at your place because I thought it was kinda rude.

We had had Sunday breakfast here after stopping by on the off chance. What a great find! Delicious coffee and food. Comfortable seating and a calm atmosphere. Relaxed, courteous and happy serving staff too. I would recommend making a reservation though to avoid disappointment.

Arrived and managed to get a table right away which was lucky as it is popular. Unfortunately we did have to wait quite a while to order our food. My partner had a bacon and Lorne bap, which he said was nice and arrived in an okay amount of time. I had baked eggs with chorizo and black pudding which was lovely, but arrived late quite a long time after, after being told five minute (was around 10-15) so my partner had pretty much finished his food at that point (the waitress was very nice though, and did apologise). Due to the delays we were ready to go and had to wait amongst people waiting to buy their coffee (however, we can’t put a place down for being popular!).

The food and setting is lovely. Much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Great selection of food, drinks and sweet treats. I had the chorizo eggs benny which was delish. Sadly the service just wasn’t good. A few of the staff just really didn’t seem to want to be there. My first impression was that the front of house host looked pretty miserable. Our coffee was cold by the time our food came. Would be quite reluctant to go back.

Once you pass the extremely unpleasant Cerberus lady at reception, everything is great here: the food, the rest of the staff, the atmosphere. We love it and come back regularly. Be sure to book, though, it gets busy quickly!

Lovely, attentive staff but £8 for 2 unseasoned, ungarnished eggs, 1 slice of toast and a small block of butter is literally insane. Beyond even London prices

Sehr nettes, kleines Café. Der Service war super, wir wurden sofort nach Allergien gefragt. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Die Atmosphäre war nett, aber ziemlich unruhig, da immer wieder viele neue Gäste kamen und auf einen Platz warteten.

Sat at the table having just had brunch here. Possibly one of the best brunches, if not the best brunch that we've had as a couple. Highly recommend the hummus toast and the chorizo, spinach eggs. food is 10/10, good vibe, must visit if in Edinburgh. Great job ladies 👍

We went in for two take away coffees: one normal latte and a coconut decaf late, we were given one lid with coconut written on it but coffees were mixed up. Luckily my partner is only dairy intolerant! If she would’ve been allergic to dairy we would’ve had to spend the day in hospital… Also over 8£ for two small coffees, not great! Would NOT recommend this place.

We were seated straight away, the service was prompt, the food was delicious and the setting was bang on. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

We had a booking at 12.00 but the table wasn't ready and eventually seat at 12.20. Food was served at 12.50. A friend of mine did not like the food that was served and asked to order something else, but the waitress quite disappointed said that that was not possible as we only had 30 minutes more left and that there was no time left. We argued with this woman (as we also seat 20 minutes earlier and the clock should start counting from that moment!). Eventually they let us stay and eat our dish (as it should be...). Food is average and overpriced (the "frittata" - look at the picture - was more than £11!!).

Best to make a reservation. Our experience has been biased as we did not. We went with 2 on a monday morning, we needed to wait 20min, and after we were seated they mentioned we had 1 hour. After having the Benny Eggs, which were good, we wanted to order the french toast. Still 35min left on the clock but the kitchen refused as it didn’t fit our time window anymore. After just having another coffee and a croissant (both very good) we were sitting alone in the room with 6 empty tables.

Food was nice, some orders were forgotten, but be careful with extras, they charge a lot. (3 pieces of bacon for £4?!) Baileys hot choco was nice but overpriced too.

Dined today for a late lunch before heading back home to Leeds. Chose here after reading about the amazing gluten free bread. My wife chose Eggs Benedict on gluten free toast and thought it was amazing. I ordered the tandoori chicken burger and it was also brilliant, until the last bite. Unfortunately there was something hard and sharp nestled into my apricot chutney, which really hurt my tooth. I brought this to restaurants attention when clearing our plates, they later came back and said they thought it was a bit of bone from the chicken. I was disappointed nothing was deducted from our bill as a gesture. I was also not happy that the service charge of 10% was automatically added to the bill and not optional, as on this occasion I was not happy to pay it.

Wow - What an amazing place for breakfast! Found via Google Reviews and we were not disappointed. One of the best breakfasts I have had in the UK. Highly recommended - You may need to book it's that good!

Lots of choice. Delicious food and lovely coffee. Group of 7 and we were all really impressed with our breakfast. Staff were incredibly friendly and nice. Only tiny tiny issue, it was cold sat and the table. There was a draft blowing in from the door even though we were in another area.

Wonderful place to visit for healthy lunch

The service was good and parsnip soup was excellent and tasty if a little expensive for what it was.

Food was mostly good, we ordered 3 dishes and liked 2/3 of them. Got a latte with oat milk which was good, had the turkish baked eggs in tomato sauce with goats cheese which was so delicious and my first time having that dish but they are a bit tight with the break as you only get 2 pieces (1 slice of bread cut in half) and i felt like i could've done with an extra full slice for the amount of egg and tomato there was, got the halloumi burger too (most expensive item on the menu at about £17) which was also delicious and worth it according to my partner who got that. Finally we got the banoffee french toast with nuts, which neither of us liked, it just tasted like a hard scrambled egg drenched in maple syrup with yoghurt, didnt taste like french toast at all, it was a bit off-putting to be honest especially as we wanted a sweet treat after out mains, but we had asked what was their most popular dish and they said baked eggs and french toast were most popular so i guess other people like it. Forgot to take pictures of the dishes we liked lol and only took pictures of the french toast which we didnt like and didnt finish. Atmosphere in the cafe was a bit weird (felt like other customers were staring at us/knew we weren't from the area) restaurant could have done with some music or something

Went for brunch with friends and booked ahead (there were queues at the door for tables). Staff very friendly and welcoming, food choice good but quality variable (some dishes v nice but bacon inedible for a couple), juices and coffee good. We were asked to leave the table (after 90 min) which isn’t ideal for brunch and also service was rather slow. Quirky interior with a variety of different areas and a bit dark.

We ordered: Brioche French toast with Greek yogurt & Banana. 9/10 Scrambled eggs on a sourdough 8.5/10 Zaatar spiced scrambled eggs 7.5/10. Scones 8/10 ( because it wasn't served fresh)

Came in for breakfast on the recommendation of some local residents & the breakfast absolutely slapped! Coffees were spot on and arrived in great timing & the Bacon & Lorne bap really hit the spot! Real good comfort food & superb staff who were beyond friendly & assisted with any questions we had! Keep it up! The team is doing a cracking job!

Beautiful cafe at the foot of Hanover Street, lovely decor that reflects the history of the building. The menu is superb and the service friendly and efficient. Best place in Edinburgh for Sunday brunch and the eggs Benny are to die for. Always a firm favourite when I'm back in Edinburgh.

Absolutely lovey spot to have a spot of breakfast! Bacon & Lorne roll was brilliant - and the chilli jam just took it to the stratosphere! Staff were brilliant; friendly and recommended some really great dishes!

Brunch here was probably the highlight of our stay. The turmeric smoothie was a revelation and paired perfectly with the baked eggs. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable concerning our Gluten intolerances. It's not often you're spoilt for choice for gluten free options, but this is one I heartily recommend (yes, that is GF haggis and black pudding)

This cafe is an excellent place for a casual breakfast. You probably should book the day before as we didn’t and there was an hour wait. It was well worth it as the menu was extremely broad with both sweet, savoury and healthy options!! The staff are extremely friendly and happy to help.

Just doing everything right here. We went twice and would've gone more but couldn't get in unfortunately (book people seriously). My gluten free wife was very happy. The food was all amazing and the staff are very down to earth and friendly. Everything is fresh tasting and all seems made to order where possible.

Excellent petit-déjeuner/brunch à Urban Angel ! Je crois qu'il y a eu une erreur sur ma commande, mais c'était tout à fait bon ! Malgré le monde à l'intérieur, c'était très calme, très intimiste, et nous avons passé un très bon moment. Je vous conseille toutefois de réserver car l'endroit a l'air assez prisé !

You gotta book for tables in advance! Was not the greatest Bacon Cheese Ciabatta and Halloumi Friattata. Will come back next time for their French Brioche. Lovely service and atmospheres tho!

Not good for gluten free despite stating that it is.. I was told the while menu could be gluten free but anything I asked for wasn't.. Waiting time for take out was at least 20mins

My wife and I went here for lunch the other week. We didn’t have a booking and it was busy so the gent said that we could get a table if we come back at 13:30. When we came back at 13:30 the guy said that we were lucky because he was about to give the table to someone else because he had us booked in for 13:15. So obviously an error on his part but we all make mistakes. Although, I don’t think he owned up to it. Anyway the staff were very friendly. There is a good selection on the menu. My wife and I got a couple of smoothies which were ok although I had to get our own straws. My green smoothie wasn’t as enjoyable as my wife’s. For food my wife got the soup and focaccia which she really enjoyed. It was surprisingly filling. I got the carrot and kale salad as well as a toastie (can’t remember the filling). Both of these were lovely. The sweet chilli sauce that came with the toastie was tasty. I would say it was a little on the expensive side but I suppose it is city centre so what do you expect? I cafe itself is a lot bigger than you would expect from looking from the outside. I love the relaxed vibe of the place.

The urban angel cafe serves humble classic dishes in an innovative modern style. The presentation is simply beautiful. I loved their breakfast bowls. It’s dog friendly, with lots of pups around and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s everything you want in a cafe. The service is excellent, with friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely be back for more.

A gem of a restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh. Lovely staff who are friendly and helpful - very attentive too! Food is delicious, all home made and of a very high quality. So much to choose from too. Thoroughly recommend a visit if you are visiting Edinburgh. Looking forward to returning soon!

I stayed in Edinburgh for a week and couldn't find a brunch spot to beat Urban Angel. Went here twice and both times there was absolutely sensational food and drink with a cosy vibe. The french toast and fresh juices are especially incredible 😍

Had the baked eggs (shakshuka), a couple of coffees and then a slice of cake. All of the food was delicious albeit the add-ons were a little pricy (but still delicious). The service was excellent, super friendly staff that endeavour to make sure you’re comfortable and not waiting too long. Atmosphere was pretty plain but nice and clean and effective.

The food is very good, not great, and certainly not worth the price. For two, we had 2 main dishes (small servings), 2 juices, and one hot drink. The bill came to over £50. We didn’t like being seated at a small bar right in front of a wall on uncomfortable stools.

The brunch is outstanding! Definitely a must-visit if you're in the area. We had breakfast there multiple times in our week-long stay in Edinburgh because it was just so good. If you want to make sure you can dine-in, definitely make a reservation. Compared to prices in the States, totally reasonable for amazing food

Absolutely perfect. Food was Amazing and the staff was top notch. While visiting Edinburgh that day, almost every cafe/restaurant was booked up or closed. Google didn't even recommend this place as an option, we just happened to stumble across it on foot during our search for foood. So very happy we did. Such a gem of a place. The only negative thing I could say is that it was slightly cramped. Which, is unavoidable due to the size of the space unless they offered less seating. In which case, we would've missed out on them as they would've been full up, also.

Best coffee in Edinburgh. Very tasty food, I would recommend trying their scones. The staff is incredibly polite and friendly. Second time we came, they remembered our order from the first time we been there, and when we came third time, we were already joking with the employee.

This is a brunch spot that you must visit while in Edinburgh. The restaurant feels cosy and welcoming, almost like a home. The food is delicious! We had the egg benny with spinach and mushrooms along with zaatar scrambled egg on toast. They were soo good! My partner had a raw chocolate smoothie which was great. Highly recommend going here if you have time for brunch.

Cute little place off the main strip. Nice variety and large portions. Lacked silverware at the table, but easily remedied. Tried two different kinds of French toast. Lite on the toast, heavy on the Toppings.

This is the place to brunch! This is not boujee brunch, but a lovely place to congregate with friends or family for a laid back Saturday morning. Atmosphere: Loved the hippie dippy vibe. Again very casual and laid back. It's the place I'd want to go if it was a rainy, chilly Saturday morning. Food: Nothing about this food is fancy by any means, but this is a great place for porridge, hummus toast, or eggs. Again, very cozy and chill. The porridge with the crumble on top is the best way to go in my opinion. It was so good that 2 other people dining with me ordered it as well. We also did an order of the hummus toast with za'atar, pickled shallots, chickpeas, and parsley. It was the most basic food, but so comforting and each bite was delicious. Reservations: Make one! If you don't you will be so upset that the wait is longggg. The reviews are no joke, this place is totally worth every star! If you live in Edinburgh or are just visiting this place is a must!

Great food, can be a little wait when busy but it's busy for a reason. If you do get the loose tea chai, it doesn't actually contain any tea (or didn't when I ordered), was only brewed herbal spices - ask to mix with black tea.

We’ve just been there, had a banana loaf, scone with butter and jam, macchiato, chamomile tea, paid 20(I even tipped, originally was £18.04), very low quality, they even charged for something else…compare with other places we’ve been, such a shame..our expectations not too high, but for this price would be some. Service was okay, girls were nice, chatty, bubbly, our dog got water, was nice from them,,but overAll, could not satisfy our expectations. Nice place but won’t come back and not really recommend to my friends either. Very disappointed ☹️

I am allergic to gluten and lactose. My choice was very limited and what I tasted did not satisfied me with. I had egg benny with bacon. Ingredients occasionally met on my plate. The bacon was overcooked. Also my son meal (halloumi burger) was partially overcooked. Not a good experience. Very slow in service
