Amazing value considering the price of drinks at the moment. Lovely location inside and out with a sofa area with loads of film posters. Really nice.

Quaint and cozy pub with welcoming and humorous staff. Like all bars in Edinburgh, drinks are expensive, but relative to the city, you can understand it. Currently my favourite bar in the area.

Super busy, but at a good time, it's a great place. Great selection of beers on tap, some nice gins too if that's your thing. Super nice atmosphere too!

Warm, welcoming pub where we escaped the cold. Adorned with classic movie posters and a lounge with projector for movie nights. We returned a couple of days later for their quiz and the place was buzzing! Friendly staff, comfortable seating and great selection of drinks.

Really cool spot, the Cinema/Couch Room was baffling at first, but just really chill vibes. Good selection of beers to be had. They have a few student deals available with ID, but it's not a massively expensive Pub as things go anyway. The toilets are strange but cool at the same time, being sort-of unisex. The latch on the men's cubicle should be changed to a hook like on a sliding door because a standard length straight bolt doesn't hold a split door securely. The Architecture student I met in there who gave me a lecture on the sexism inherent in structural design agreed with me. Literally just go though for the Craic, it's a nice spot and I hear they have a Quiz on a Thursday.

Gran pub acogedor, con comida sabrosa y buena música. Lo mejor fue el servicio. La joven que nos atendió fue absolutamente fantástico, tan amable, atento y eficiente. He estado en restaurantes de 5 estrellas y no tuve tan buen servicio. Todo el personal era muy amable y profesional. ¡Creo que hemos encontrado un nuevo local!

Vinimos aquí a principios de año como había reservado para una comida india un par de puertas abajo. Vinimos de nuevo esta vez en busca del mismo restaurante y llamamos por un par de bebidas. Esta vez fue más tranquilo ya que estábamos temprano. El servicio era muy bueno y las bebidas eran muy razonables. Volveremos.

A great wee bar situated on Drummond Street, just of from South Bridges, a main street into Edinburgh. A nice selection of beers, etc. Music (rock or related genre) plays in the background with a screen playing a mix of music. A reasonable length bar with bar seating. Tables and seats can be found around the bar. With another seating area around the corner from the bar. There is also seating outside. The bar staff were friendly and quick to serve. There was an eclectic mix of punters. I wouldn't necessarily say a student or tourist bar. And certainly not a bar with an old local sat in the corner Nursing their beer. For me, it was a great place to stop for a couple of reasonable priced beers before heading to a gig in a nearby venue (the Mash House) a great wee place.

Awesome hole in the wall off the beaten path. Great music and decent prices. Lots of little cubbies to sit and chat.

Had one drink and left after the attitude of the barmaids left me and my friend actually shocked. They seemed to be tending to people who were coming in after us in the centre of the bar while we waited and we thought it might have been because we were stood at the corner so after about 15/20 minutes of waiting and watching everyone else get served I asked one of the girls “is this a serving area?” Genuinely wondering incase we were at the wrong part and she gave a rude tone back “I’ll serve you in a minute” we were like okay… then another girl came over and served us with a really monotone/couldn’t be bothered attitude not a smile or any sort of happy customer service and ID’d us, I’m late 20’s and my friend is 30. Fully aware of challenge 25 but my friend who didn’t bring her ID stood with tattoos showing. Regardless she served me my alcoholic drink and served my friend a coke, defeats the purpose as it’s against the law to serve anybody without any proof of ID and also have under 18’s with no ID in a bar. The two barmaids proceeded to then talk about us loudly and laugh at my friend not having ID. Honestly don’t know what we did to annoy them so much, it was our first drink of the evening so we weren’t rowdy or drunk or annoying anybody.

This might be my favourite boozer in Edinburgh…. Local bar vibe during the day, busy in the evening with a mixed crowd enjoying either the cool tunes they play in the bar area, or watching a movie in their “cinema” room. Good times.

Pequeño bar callejero. Es popular, así que a veces se pone muy ocupado y no es tan grande. Tiene algunas salas que se remontan para servir como salas de eventos / espectáculos del festival marginal. No vi un espectáculo, pero me detuve aquí para tomar una copa en el camino a otro lugar y era un bar con un ambiente fresco y muy LGBTQ acogedor. Tenía una pinta de mono que era muy necesario en ese momento. La próxima vez que esté en Edimburgo definitivamente pasaré más tiempo aquí.

There are no stars for food because i don't believe they do food! Great little pub with excellent Ale & service.

Food is really good. Atmosphere is good. Staff are very rude and miserable. They look down on you. Makes you feel like you aren’t worthy enough to be there.

Good student prices. The staff is friendly. It gives off a real pub vibe, good for watching big sports games.

Really chill pub, the bartenders are always friendly - when I asked for a non alcohol recommendation they were really nice and we had a funny chat about it, where they could have easily been weird instead! They also proactively ask if you're a student as the drinks will then be discounted, which was great for me because even though they have this fact signposted on the wall, I forgot to ask for it! The huge sofas in the back room are really comfy but this can sometimes encourage couples into some intense PDA😭

Only stopped in to use the toilet which was appreciated! When I entered there was two doors in front of me, one marked men and the other ladies, I opened the men’s door to find a lady on the toilet doing her business.. very uncomfortable for both of us.. Shared toilets with no locks on the doors? Why? Ladies for the ladies and gents for the gents

I liked its bohemian/proper old pub vibe, but my wife was less impressed by the ambiance. Good selection of beer, which was most welcome and thoroughly enjoyed. I'm go back there, no problem, with the lads, probably.

Used to drink here decades ago! Event visit and it’s still a great boozer with a great vibe and beer! Still doing the movies too which is a very unique seeking point. Well worth a visit!

Nice pub and they have one of my favourite beers Furstenberg on tap. The music was a bit too loud but the vibes were good.

This is the kind of place that you want to keep secret! One of our favourite places to stop off for a drink on the way home after work. It's just a pub, the beers are good, we love their taste in music but check out the cinema room!

Fantastic atmosphere and fun to sit in the back on the "beds" during a long day, especially as a break from the madness of the fringe. Not too awful prices either!

What a great little find this was! Quirky decor, friendly staff, fantastic layout, cosy in some areas, huge chairs you can lie on, a room for games!! 10/10 will definitely be back!

you can tell this pub is great without even going in- it’s always full and vibrant! There is a great selection of drinks- we went for peach beer. The atmosphere was upbeat but there was a cosy intimate vibe, the only thing that could be better would be turning down the music

Staff are super friendly, service is quick, even at its busiest, Original decor complimented by a great selection of cinemtic & sporting memorabilia on the walls. I hope they still do cinema nights. Popular with all ages. They know how to do a proper pub here.

Not everyone's cup of tea but a great quirky wee pub. This is my second visit (1st time was over 8 years ago!) and visited again today. The place has never changed, and is great for a wee pint! Really love the cinema room at the back with the old films on!

They will sell you a drink without informing that they’re closing in 15min, then they will yell at you to give up unfinished drink and leave.

Quirky little pub on a backstreet near the Edinburgh Festival Theatre. Has two Fringe venues. Well worth a visit.

What a gem of a pub. We loved the great atmosphere here, and the unusual decor and lively buzz. The staff are great too - we watched them efficiently and effectively ask a group to leave (obviously not high on alcohol but something else) and we were all reduced to helpless laughter when the last one out shouted that they would leave a bad review on Trip Advisor! You can't give a bad review for this lovely place.

Discovered this surprisingly cool place on a visit to Edinburgh in the summer of 2023. Bartenders were helpful to a poor Norwegian a long way from home, and the beers were nice. We also enjoyed the music, and the diversity of the clientele. 10/10 in style and music selection.

Always liked the Monkey, haven't bn in fr a couple of years since my m8 lived above the barbers next door. Same goes fr the Monkey in Leith Walk ,great crowds ,great atmosphere, great food and wild selection of alcoholic drinks and non alcoholic drinks. If I recall, the Brass Monkey in Leith walk holds a quiz nite each week with decent cash prizes. Great pub to take the dog in fr a nice cold pint. Dog friendly and helpful staff.

A fantastic little pub tucked away off Nicolson Street. Friendly staff and coffee available besides the usual alcohol on offer. The interior is really cosy and quite cavernous with plenty of seating and space to stand at the bar. I didn't try any food but had to put a star rating on the review to post it.

Quaint bar which is rather tardislike - bigger on the inside than would appear from the outside. Bar staff were very friendly and overall the place was pretty chill. I'd stop in there again for a cheeky pint or two. Lacked crisps. I think. Good prices and great drink selection. Even had Pernod, something 10 other bars had failed to offer.

Brass Monkeys are cool pubs, with a quirky blend of traditional and modern features. Only really stopped here for a "cheeky" pint after work so can't really comment, but I would happily go back. 3 stars for atmosphere, there was a group of shady looking guys by the door eyeballing us, not sure why. Didn't eat the food.

Wonderful little hidden gem in central Edinburgh. Good prices, nice bartenders, and a genuine pub vibe. Avoid the tourist traps and walk the extra 1/2 mile to here instead.

Well hello to good times. When you slide up to a seat here you are sliding into a cozy place with a vibe that makes you feel like your taking on the smokey notes of good times gone past. Its fun. Its got character and its the right music to make this a long stop on a crawl
