I got the roast, the meat and vegetables were fantastic and tasty and excellently prepared and presented.. The Yorkshire puddings appeared to have been left sitting out, and although tasty, tuned to powder when bitten down on. There was no chewiness at all. The gravy was tasty and plentiful (free unlimited refills of Yorkshires and gravy). The 4 singers they had on were most excellent. Some of the best live music I have heard in a long time. The lead singers voice (Kat I think her name was) was sublime and well suited to the music and songs they were performing. Unfortunately the "background" music between sets, and while we were eating, was so loud that it forced quite a few folk to another area of the pub as it was just too noisy to have any decent conversation. The bands sound levels were perfect and at a level where it could be enjoyed unlike the "background music" which rendered any type of vocal interaction with another person impossible. All in all a great wee afternoon out - BUT TOO LOUD BACKGROUND MUSIC.

Our visits here have been hit and miss. The last time we visited for lunch, it wasn’t great. But this time it was a lot better. The service we had at lunchtime on Saturday the 1st March was superb! Our waiter was so on the ball that I’d go as far as to say his service was perfect! He should be promoted. It’s so rare to get such good service nowadays. Staff just don’t seem ‘with it’ anymore. It was refreshing. I wish I took note of his name. He deserves a special mention. The food here is also very good! Although the sausage fest option is a bit steep at £26. And even though it’s a decent sized portion of 3 large sausages, let’s face it, they’re just sausages. Not exactly prime meat! I think it would be good to offer a smaller portion of the sausage fest for those of us who’d like to sample all 3 types of sausages, but cannot finish such a big portion. There was also live music playing which was a treat, but unfortunately the volume was uncomfortably loud. We couldn’t have a conversation whilst enjoying lunch. We love live music , but the volume needed to be turned down just a wee bit to make it more appropriate for an eating and socialising experience. We’ll definitely be back at some point I’m sure. Not sure what the next experience will be like because each one has been different. Hopefully it’ll be good! Fingers crossed.

Absolute fabulous vibes and food was amazing. Only downfall was the service. We waited for our starter for about 30 mins when the waitress realised we hadn't had it she brought it right away, but our mains came too. We would of liked to have that gap between starter and main. The girl who served us did apologise and admit to her mistake which was good. It is pricey we paid £94 but the food was worth the money. Highly recommend the muscles and orange wine!

Food, drink, service and entertainment were excellent. The security were atrocious. Witnessed several people being forcibly removed by a bouncer with a man bun another with a dodgy tash and a third with a tweed jacket. Our order was mixed up and we got something completely different. After telling it to the staff, we got the correct order, but the chefs must have been in a hurry because it was half-raw. After we finished eating, we waited 20 minutes for the waitress to ask for the bill. After asking for the bill, we waited another 20 minutes to pay, and Courtney, the waitress, informed us with a sneer that she had forgotten about us. Maybe it was her first day on the job because she wasn't very nice either.

We visited Brewhemia for afternoon tea. When we were served, we asked for a cappuccino/latte instead of the standard Americano included in the offer. The request was accommodated without issue, but when we received the bill, we saw that we had been charged extra for the coffee swap. When we raised this with the waitress, we were told that the manager refused to include our coffees in the afternoon tea deal—an odd way to try and make extra profit. As for the food, it wasn’t great, except for the scones, which were absolutely delicious.

The best steak we've had. Comes raw on a hot lava stone to be cooked to your liking while eating. Friendly staff and nice enough service but an unexpected £30 tip on the bill was a bit steep. There were only 4 of us and we didn't have deserts and only 3 starters between us. When asked the waitress was very happy to take the tip off as we said we would still pay a decent tip just not that much but she then had to wait for a manager to take it off which felt awkward as staff staff should have this power. I booked a table for 6 for our family Christmas day out back in October, and couldn't wait for my family to experience the festive buzz at Brewhemia. On the weeks running up to our reservation I was asked to move to an earlier time which we agreed to. We were sat at a table directly under a large loud speaker and when we asked if another table was available they said no- which was fine. We ordered 2 bottles of Prosecco, a coffee , 2 mains and 2 x sharing boards (which states on the menu that one board feeds 2 people). The waitress came back to the table and looked embarrassed to tell us her manager said we needed to order more mains if we wanted to sit at that table. We couldn't understand why we would order more food when we all had food coming. We asked to speak to the manager. Her manner was atrocious. She immediately had an attitude, and said we either ordered more food or they would move our table to another section and that I would have been told this at the time of booking. I was told we needed to dine- but it wasn't specified about how much food etc. We asked why the sharing platters were on their menu if they didn't count as a meal and the reply I got was "because they are." We were told "your food and drinks will be held until you either move or order more". I wish I was joking!! I explained I had booked this for my family and I was so embarrassed at how we were being treated. She shrugged her shoulders. I asked why on this instance they couldn't make an exception, we had already moved our reservation time from 2.30 to 1pm to suit Brewhemia. The manager was totally unwilling to make any form of exception (even though I showed her every email I had and not one of them stated we had to order "main meals"), her body language was standoffish, confrontational and rude. We ended up leaving, and I will never return. She totally ruined the start of our Christmas day out, and judging by the other recent bad reviews it seems like we aren't the only ones. The waitresses who seen to our table that day were lovely and I could tell they were embarrassed having to ask us to basically spend more money in order to sit at the table. (Date of visit- 14th December)

We booked this restaurant 8 weeks in advance for drinks and snacks, expecting a pleasant experience for our family gathering. Upon arrival, we were seated, given the menu, and placed our orders for starters, sharing platters, and drinks. Everything seemed fine until the manager informed us, quite abruptly, that we had to order mains. This requirement was never disclosed during our booking or in the confirmation email we received. When we showed the manager the email to clarify this, she was rude, patronising, and completely unapologetic. Her attitude was appalling—she outright told us that if we didn’t like it, we could leave. Feeling humiliated and embarrassed, we had no choice but to leave, as her behavior made it clear that our presence and comfort were of no importance to her or the restaurant. We were a group of ladies celebrating a family gathering, who were left stranded and scrambling to find somewhere else to accommodate us. This was, without a doubt, the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The lack of empathy, humility, and basic respect shown to us by the manager was shocking. There was no attempt to resolve the issue or make us feel welcome—just complete disregard for our comfort and experience. I strongly advise avoiding this place if you value basic human decency and respect.

I’ve worked as a bartender for over 5 years so I understand about bad shifts and busy sections but for a quiet bar with a few tables and a basic drink order, there is no excuse for utter rudeness and smugness from the young bartender who should rethink if hospitality is the field for him

Drinks - A great experience apart from one thing; the service charge. While I’m more than happy to add a tip, or pay a service charge the one we received for an £18 antipasti plate on the ‘bar snack’ bar of the drinks menu (while sitting in the bar) was obscene. The item, which we ordered on its own at the bar we were sitting at, was priced at £18 and billed at £25. Not only that, but the price hike was not indicated to us, we were given a card machine which we tapped, and then discovered our bill had had a 40% charge added. When I enquired as to why the bill was now £7 more expensive I was told politely that it was a percentaged service charge, which no one seemed to be able to explain why was so high. It would be handy in future to have this advertised on the bar menus, as well having staff (who were all lovely) announce the price before paying (which is probably more important for those going contactless on a machine who’s face they cannot see). This is especially true if it is indeed a percentage calculated based on items. 40% on an item under £20 is quite the service. I’d dread to think how much it would have been had we added another item.

Had a voucher for afternoon tea and overall, it was a good afternoon. Easy access from Waverly, attention to detail between the actual place and down to edible flowers on the afternoon tea. It felt luxurious! Only downside is we had to go looking for a member of staff if we wanted refills.

The worst food experience I have ever had. I never normally go into much detail as this in a review but I think it is important for others to know. I recently dined at Brehewmia and unfortunately, it was not a great experience. Literally every dish had no flavour. We ordered the pretzels and the pork belly for starter. For mains, the fish and chips and the chicken schnitzel. The cheese sauce that came with the pretzel and schnitzel was lacking any real flavour—neither cheesy nor savoury—and I had to add salt and pepper just to get any taste out of it. The pork belly was a big letdown: just three small pieces served with a cheap-tasting mustard sauce, paper-thin apple slices, and a few garnish leaves that didn’t make it feel like a proper dish. Without the sauce, the pork belly tasted of literally nothing. It looked nice but the portion size was awful for £10. The gherkins were another disappointment— impossibly thin and tasted like they had only been pickled that morning. They were closer to cucumbers. Somehow, the fish was so bland that it might have been the most flavourless dish I’ve ever encountered, which is saying something. I’ve never seen fish naturally as tasteless as that in my life. Even if you don’t season fish it usually taste better than what was served to me, it’s like they somehow managed to extract the fish flavour! The tartar sauce was barely more than bland mayonnaise. Very cheap. With food you can usually smell it - all of our dishes didn't have any smell from it. The schnitzel was tough as a boot, crispy in parts but the texture was off: the top and bottom were mushy, and it fell apart like poorly cooked chicken. Its pale colour only added to the bland presentation. The chips were the best part, though I still needed to salt them. As for the schnitzel’s cheese topping, it was like eating Parmesan that had been left at the bottom of a frying pan after you made a meal, and you came back later to eat it—oily, greasy, and not intentionally part of the dish. The “crisped Parmesan” just tasted like scraps. The piece of Parma ham (or whatever it was) on top added nothing of value. The waitresses were nice, but the service wasn't that good. Multiple waitresses approached us too often asking us the same questions - felt very rushed. One asked if we were finished our food whilst we were still eating. They should focus on improving the quality of their food rather than the aesthetics. Overall, I left feeling genuinely sad, disappointed and very cheated by the experience, having paid almost £85.

Right opposite Waverley Station. I stumbled in randomly with my wife and suitcases as we were catching a train a few hours later. So. Fantastic service. Paulaner on draft a lovely lunch and we left full, merry and happy. Not necessarily in that order. Cheers 🍻

WOW! What an incredible venue - every city needs a Brewhemia. We hosted our first ever Singles Event at Brewhemia in 7 November the room was absolutely buzzing. So many people we asked had NEVER been to Brewhemia before so it was great to introduce lots of people to this fab venue. A huge thank you to the whole team who made our first (hopefully first of many) event at Brewhemia an absolute blast. It really is a unique and special place to have a fun night out. Next time we're in Edinburgh we'll be trying what sounds like a legendary brunch.

The atmosphere was lovely and so was the service. We had a Sunday Roast and it wasn‘t the best, the gravy was a bit watery and the knives were very blunt. The cheesy cauliflower was way too liquidy.

Its one of the biggest venues im Edinburgh, in the heart of old town. For that, it is both unique and can get a bit "empty" and not so cosy. The live music room could be toned down a bit when not super busy. The band was a bit meh. No vibe and impossible to have a chat like that. Beer selection is good. Food was ok. The pie was awesome. The pork belly was a bit tough and was nothing special. I liked the rueben croquettes. The spätzle was just super disappointing. Portions are on the small size. Prices are just ridicoulously high. Seems they are attempting to be fancy/avant garde, when German/alpine/British cuisine is all about comfort. Service was okish, maybe. Music hall bartender seemed lost or did not speak English properly. Waiters changed all the time. My beer waited some 5 minutes staring at me on the bar until someone finally decided to serve it while the bartender and a manager had a long chat. "Quiete" area waitress was super nice and maybe more attentious than I would've liked to, borderline rushing us from step to step, which was weird bc the place was empty. I think I told her some 5 times we wanted to have starters and order later on, she kept coming back for mains. She didnt know anything about what was on tap and served one of the rounds with something else other than we ordered. Smiley but not genuine. All and all the while experience felt impersonal, expensive and characterless. Its a shame bc I like the idea of the place, but execution is lacking.

I visited this bar on Saturday at 11 PM, as it was the closest open establishment to my hotel. Despite the crowded conditions, I managed to squeeze in and secure the last available seat at the bar. However, I was immediately met with a dismissive "done" from the bartender/manager (which was our sole interaction). Given the bar's 1 AM closing time and the presence of numerous locals with full pints, it was evident that the bar was not winding down. I was the only non-local, under 50, fair-skinned person present so yeah wouldn't recommend.

If you're in Edinburgh, I highly recommend this place for great fish and chips - crunchy, tasty and really delicious. The venue is also worth it, with its refined and elegant "Liberty" style.

A wonderful experience. Typical Scottish cuisine, generous portions, and a very pleasant tavern atmosphere.
