First time in Edinburgh, this place is amazing

The brief was the find a nice place that did “pub food”. Brewhemia came up in the search and we were able to book, and it had a menu that had some pub standard fare and a little European flair. As you enter the pub part, before you get near the restaurant, it’s a well appointed Bavarian beer hall style space. I was excited to see they had Budvar tanks and taps, and they had a 4% “NeFiltr” version I’d not tried that wasn’t bad. The restaurant had a few locals and work groups having some food and drinks. One of the barman who served us our first drinks was from Brisbane - so was nice to chat with another Aussie about their experiences in UK and Edinburgh. We began with a lineup of starters that included: the Reuben Croquettes sounded like a good idea. We got a German Pretzel, it was warm and soft, and paired with a sharp Senf mustard (a German-style yellow mustard), a creamy cheese and chive dip which I really liked, and some sliced pickles. The German Wurst Bites were a mix of meats, everyone enjoyed some of those, they also came with Senf mustard. The Fried Pickles were interesting, a nice pickle that came with sauerkraut and a lemon mayo. For our mains, we got: the Parmigiana Schnitzel, a generous sized plate of crisp chicken layered with prosciutto, mozzarella, and rich tomato passata, served atop linguine. A bit of a different spin to what you get at most pubs in Australia - but it was delicious. The Moules Frites were great, a generous serving of mussels in a fragrant prosecco and fennel broth, with some sourdough and the fries for dipping and soaking it up. I enjoyed helping work through the pot. The Brewhemia Burger was what I ordered. I thought about the steak, which I think is one of the cook your own on hot rocks I think. It was twice the price of the burger, so maybe next time. The burger had beer-candied bacon, slow-cooked onions, Tallegio cheese, and a tangy dressing. I prefer a smash burger style normally, but it wasn’t too bad - definitely not the best or worst burger I’ve had and I finished it with a few beers and no regrets. The Pie of the Day was chicken and mushroom. It says “allow 25 minutes for cooking” on the menu, but the orderer was very happy with it, and I enjoyed the taste I had. The bar looked fancy and was well appointed. Those that had wines were happy with their options. Above the bar they have a stage area. The night we were there the Jordan Murray Band performed acoustic covers for the diners. I’ve since learned the Band do weddings and play live a bit around Edinburgh. You can look them up and follow them on social media, and I would definitely encourage you to go out and support live music in Edinburgh. The crowd appreciated the music and clapped and sang along as they enjoyed their dinner. I’d definitely come back here when I next visit Edinburgh, the barmen were telling us they are a Fringe venue next year, so would be cool to see it pumping then. Our night was fun and it wasn’t too packed which I liked. We had a lovely time and walking home past the Castle there was lots of talk of the music, the pickles, the pie, how many mussels there were and how nice it is to spend time with people you love in places like this.

A place where you can find a pub, restaurant and café in one. All connected by a beautiful common area. I rate the quality of the draft beer the best, which is really the best in Edinburgh 5* for me. However, you can only request the full menu at the tables "in the boxes", which was a minor minus for us.

Nipped in here after coming off the train at Waverly station. We decided to have a meal and were pleased we did. The food was amazing. So good that we returned again before our journey home. The drinks are pricey but I suppose you get that in alot of cities. I'll definitely be back for food that's for sure.

No IPA on draught, no entertainment Just an expensive bar. Disappointed

Great atmosphere with a live band (at least on friday evening). Food is hit&miss. While has snitzel was ok, summer spatzle were overcooked and not really good. Service was ok, quick. Would come back for drinks & fun, but avoid food.

I finally visited this huge bar I’d only heard about before—and I’m honestly surprised it took me so long! The place is stunning, spacious, and full of life, with live bands and shows happening regularly. The atmosphere is vibrant and energetic, perfect for a night out. With several bars to order from, there’s never too long of a wait, and the bartenders are clearly experienced and professional. Whether you're out celebrating with friends or just grabbing a drink after work, this place is a fantastic choice. A fun and memorable experience!

The slowest and least attentive service of any pub I've ever been in. Really has ideas above it's station. Charges prime,(tourist),prices for very run-of-the-mill drinks and food.

Worst pint of Guinness I’ve ever had, Innis and Gunn tasted like the beer had gone off in the taps and paid a premium for the privilege. Both took one sip and decided it wasn’t even worth the hassle. Left and will never be back. Stay well clear if you actually like a beer!

Drinks, gentleman's afternoon tea (don't have lunch before!) and beer flight for friends 60th birthday. Excellent afternoon tea at a reasonable price. Staff were very accommodating as always and lovely atmosphere and location.

Delicious! The best food we had in the UK. We all had the Minestrone soup which was the best we have ever had. Also a Focaccia sandwich with pesto, mozzarella, tomato. The Focaccia was perfect, so fresh. Wish we had time to return for another meal. A must b

Disappointing experience. We booked the place primary beacuse they said they have live band all day and evening. Band never showed up during our dinner. Food was average. Some portions were solod sizes, other were small. Service was okey

Very very noisy place! Frequented mainly by locals, few tourists. Relatively fast service considering the number of tables in the place. Good food, even if the prices are not exactly low.

Went to try their new Friday Kabaret, it was superb, lot of fun. The space is huge and the show was pretty funy. Great way to end a week at Brewhemia. Perfect place if you are not in Edinburgh , just a step from the train station

Love Brewhemia, the Gentleman's Afternoon Tea is excellent. Staff are superb and a really good atmosphere. Back again on the 19th Apr 😃🍺👍

Superb experience in every element

Truthfully this place was my worst nightmare. The music was so loud it was triggering. Couldn't hear staff and vice versa. Pie was swimming in so much sauce underneath that it was hard to fish out the vegetables. Tip already added to bill but prompted by staff to leave a tip when paying by card. Felt an atmosphere when I pointed out the tip was already added. Very disappointed in general

Excellent hand-crafted cocktail menu. I had the Baileys Expresso Martini and it was incredible. I sat at the bar so was told I could only order snacks, but was surprised to find quite a nice bar snacks menu. I ordered the Alpine pizza and loved it. Our bartender was attentive and friendly, and made great recommendations for places to visit in Edinburgh. I’ll be back again for sure

My Band The Guilty Pleasures has played here several times and the place is amazing. The quality and range of food is fabulous. The atmosphere and focussed attitude of all staff is second to none . A must visit venue for food and ace live acts 🙏🏻👍🏻😎

Just on the other side of Waverley Station on market st is this very unusual pub built on two levels. It has a very modern contemporary design with lots of booths. Large range of beers and spirits are available . Coffee and tea also on offer. Really nice place and staff were excellent.

Lovely pub - nice food and friendly staff, and just outside the station. Food on the ground floor in the pub area is 10 pound for all the dishes. They have wifi too (relevant for travellers).

The staff accommodated our booking for 23 people at a very short notice and we're absolutely lovely on the phone, very clear and super helpful. Also great service when we arrived and all the group of Italians was really happy with the food and service. Clear instructions on the allergens, and every member of staff was absolutely lovely. We were lucky to find a wonderful duo playing acoustic music and it made for an even better night. Food was brilliant with very generous portions (the prices are not the cheapest but location, selection and size warrant it). Honestly it had been a while since I had been there but I was really impressed and hopefully will be back soon! 😀 Also great beer selection 🍻

We found this place opposite Waverly station back door entrance. Went in and were impressed with the layout and the standard of it. It was not that busy when we were there, midday/early afternoon. We had the sausage platter to share it was more than enough for us and the food was authentic. Service was quick, food was good although Edinburgh is getting a bit like London for inflating their prices for everyday stuff. Never the less there are enough places to sit quietly and have a beer or Coffee or two. Beer is ok, some unusual items on offer too. Worth a visit.

I recently visited Brewhemia,and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with stylish decor and a warm, welcoming vibe. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The food was the real highlight. I ordered the Sunday roast, and it was absolutely delicious. Thank you!

Mother’s Day drag abba brunch was fantastic set price for food and we had to have a couple cocktails which were delicious

Second time there in two years. Walked in on a Sunday. menu limited to a few dishes and Sunday roast. Fish and chips were excellent and plentiful. The cauliflower bowl with smoked salmon was exactly what I wanted. The place is loud but comfortable. Service was a wee bit slow but worth the wait.

Enormous and impressive place, best for large groups. Service was good. The sound/live music was not good, but the main issue is the lighting is way too bright!

We were walking back from checking our Edinburgh Castle, and we were looking for bite. A tad confusing about the entire process and seating situation. You could order and eat in some areas but not others. Maybe I misunderstood. Boyfriend ended up going up to the bar to place an order. We ordered the pretzel trio, it was okay. There was a confusion regarding the cider options and what was available and what was not. I think coming here at night or when there was something going on would have been more entertaining. It was worth a try.

I always enjoy being there. If you like live music and hot dogs, then this is your place. The food is really good and the vibes are great for dinner with friends if you don't mind a lot of noise! Prices are OK when you consider the atmosphere of the place.

I got the roast, the meat and vegetables were fantastic and tasty and excellently prepared and presented.. The Yorkshire puddings appeared to have been left sitting out, and although tasty, tuned to powder when bitten down on. There was no chewiness at all. The gravy was tasty and plentiful (free unlimited refills of Yorkshires and gravy). The 4 singers they had on were most excellent. Some of the best live music I have heard in a long time. The lead singers voice (Kat I think her name was) was sublime and well suited to the music and songs they were performing. Unfortunately the "background" music between sets, and while we were eating, was so loud that it forced quite a few folk to another area of the pub as it was just too noisy to have any decent conversation. The bands sound levels were perfect and at a level where it could be enjoyed unlike the "background music" which rendered any type of vocal interaction with another person impossible. All in all a great wee afternoon out - BUT TOO LOUD BACKGROUND MUSIC.

I sat for 25 minutes with my mother in front of the bar, the room was completely empty and the red-haired waitress with tattoos didn't even come close to asking us what we wanted or anything, the worst service I've ever had in my life.

I have been going here for years. Friends and family always love to come with up. Very well set out and designed, prompt service, great dining / drinking tables and fabulous staff who are always keen to help

Popped in for a couple drinks and was warmly welcomed and directed to nice table, cocktails excellent quality with plenty to choose from. Fast, friendly and efficient service. Although we didn’t eat on this occasion the food being served looked very good.

Good place for a bite to eat …..The German Sausages were lovely !!!!

Our visits here have been hit and miss. The last time we visited for lunch, it wasn’t great. But this time it was a lot better. The service we had at lunchtime on Saturday the 1st March was superb! Our waiter was so on the ball that I’d go as far as to say his service was perfect! He should be promoted. It’s so rare to get such good service nowadays. Staff just don’t seem ‘with it’ anymore. It was refreshing. I wish I took note of his name. He deserves a special mention. The food here is also very good! Although the sausage fest option is a bit steep at £26. And even though it’s a decent sized portion of 3 large sausages, let’s face it, they’re just sausages. Not exactly prime meat! I think it would be good to offer a smaller portion of the sausage fest for those of us who’d like to sample all 3 types of sausages, but cannot finish such a big portion. There was also live music playing which was a treat, but unfortunately the volume was uncomfortably loud. We couldn’t have a conversation whilst enjoying lunch. We love live music , but the volume needed to be turned down just a wee bit to make it more appropriate for an eating and socialising experience. We’ll definitely be back at some point I’m sure. Not sure what the next experience will be like because each one has been different. Hopefully it’ll be good! Fingers crossed.

The menu is great, the wine list is fabulous, but it just misses the mark a little with the service and food. The food was good but was missing sides and sauces and service was really spare and had to track down. Maybe an off night, I’d go again because it really is beautiful and a great concept!

We recently visited Edinburgh and popped into Brewhemia before returning to our hotel. Nice atmosphere, bar staff were very good and the place was lively. The drink was expensive, but was worth going even just for one..

Went for breakfast. I had the rabbi burns full breakfast and my wife had the vegan breakfast.. both were amazing. Probably the best breakfast I've had in a pub or restaurant. My only gripe is the 12.5% service charge.

Absolute fabulous vibes and food was amazing. Only downfall was the service. We waited for our starter for about 30 mins when the waitress realised we hadn't had it she brought it right away, but our mains came too. We would of liked to have that gap between starter and main. The girl who served us did apologise and admit to her mistake which was good. It is pricey we paid £94 but the food was worth the money. Highly recommend the muscles and orange wine!

Gentleman's Afternoon Tea, definitely worth a visit for both gentlemen and ladies.

Food, drink, service and entertainment were excellent. The security were atrocious. Witnessed several people being forcibly removed by a bouncer with a man bun another with a dodgy tash and a third with a tweed jacket. These three were looking for any excuse to put hands on people which was a poor reflection on Brewhemia which is normally top notch.

Tbh is was my third visit to Brewhemia. I’ve been here on all trips to Edinburgh recently. Great food and great atmosphere. Walked in a dinner time on a Friday (February) without booking and easily got a table. Good options for kids too and fab drinks.

Our order was mixed up and we got something completely different. After telling it to the staff, we got the correct order, but the chefs must have been in a hurry because it was half-raw. After we finished eating, we waited 20 minutes for the waitress to ask for the bill. After asking for the bill, we waited another 20 minutes to pay, and Courtney, the waitress, informed us with a sneer that she had forgotten about us. Maybe it was her first day on the job because she wasn't very nice either.

Amazing night here. We ended our night out with friends here, we weren't disappointed. Such a fun vibe, the dancers, live band and party atmosphere made it an amazing end to a night out.

We arrived for our booking and led to a table with no working lights, we were told it would take twenty minutes but gave up after thirty minutes of poor service and communication. The visit to the gents toilets was an experience, the smell was worse than any public toilets I have been to. It’s a shame as from the outside it appears to be a welcoming venue.

Food and drink was delicious, service was quick and friendly, prices were high but we aren’t from Scotland so other people may find them fine. During our 6 day stay in Edinburgh we returned several times for dinner and/or drinks. Would definitely recommend.

We came to Edinburgh to visit the city, but some pubs did not allow us entry because my son is under 18. This bar has a great vibe and allowed us in as a family 👍✨

Wow, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had! The service was amazing, the food was phenomenal and to top it off, there was a super talented singer playing to the restaurant with his guitar! We had the cheese fondue which was sublime and I must recommend. Don't forget to grab a few butterscotch shots too! Special shout out to Martha, Ava and Anya for such a special experience they provided for me and my new fiance, we will never forget it, and we will be back!!!!

Edinburgh is very expensive for food and alcohol, although Brewhemia is the perfect place to sample both.

Warm and welcoming greeting on arrival. We got a nice booth with table service for food and drink. Food was fantastic, came out quick and was to a high standard. Service was very good and we got more drinks as and when needed! Would highly recommend this place 👌🏼

We visited Brewhemia for afternoon tea. When we were served, we asked for a cappuccino/latte instead of the standard Americano included in the offer. The request was accommodated without issue, but when we received the bill, we saw that we had been charged extra for the coffee swap. When we raised this with the waitress, we were told that the manager refused to include our coffees in the afternoon tea deal—an odd way to try and make extra profit. As for the food, it wasn’t great, except for the scones, which were absolutely delicious.

This is the second time I visited. Was not too impressed with the level of noise the last time I was here, but can recommend the afternoon tea experience I had today. Nice variety of food, lovely tea - all spent in a chair looking out the window.

Staff were were friendly and nice, wait time was short and food was delicious!! Isaac was particularly chatty and nice. Would come back again!

Having booked for Burns Supper night out, we were not disappointed. Great Atmosphere and music and Poems and Shenanigan's from the Bard himself. The food was amazing and the staff brilliant as always.

The best steak we've had. Comes raw on a hot lava stone to be cooked to your liking while eating. Friendly staff and nice enough service but an unexpected £30 tip on the bill was a bit steep. There were only 4 of us and we didn't have deserts and only 3 starters between us. When asked the waitress was very happy to take the tip off as we said we would still pay a decent tip just not that much but she then had to wait for a manager to take it off which felt awkward as staff staff should have this power. Nice atmosphere.

My very first stop for a drink after long journey. Good location just in front of train station. Wasn’t busy when i visited. Been seated but no one ask why i’m sitting here mean service is not good. After sitting some time, been to counter, grab a drink, enjoyed myself and move on to not come back here. Btw atmosphere was nice but it means nothing without service. Thats all my story. If you wanna try, then help yourself.

Excellent service and the steaks are amazing

We booked this restaurant 8 weeks in advance for drinks and snacks, expecting a pleasant experience for our family gathering. Upon arrival, we were seated, given the menu, and placed our orders for starters, sharing platters, and drinks. Everything seemed fine until the manager informed us, quite abruptly, that we had to order mains. This requirement was never disclosed during our booking or in the confirmation email we received. When we showed the manager the email to clarify this, she was rude, patronising, and completely unapologetic. Her attitude was appalling—she outright told us that if we didn’t like it, we could leave. Feeling humiliated and embarrassed, we had no choice but to leave, as her behavior made it clear that our presence and comfort were of no importance to her or the restaurant. We were a group of ladies celebrating a family gathering, who were left stranded and scrambling to find somewhere else to accommodate us. This was, without a doubt, the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The lack of empathy, humility, and basic respect shown to us by the manager was shocking. There was no attempt to resolve the issue or make us feel welcome—just complete disregard for our comfort and experience. I strongly advise avoiding this place if you value basic human decency and respect.
