Obviously only open air so weather dependent but coffees are always very good. Scones are fantastic. The rocky road is also great.

Outdoor seating with canopies sheltering tables and chairs. Quick service at the servicing window for homemade soup, toasties. coffee and tea. etc. Just what is needed beforee or after a walk through the Hermitage of Braid. Update Sunday 10th Dec 2023. The Lodge House cafe was closed today despite Google publishing that it was open. Possibly its having staffing so I suggest if you're planning to go there, have a plan-B ready too.

You must try the scones here! After years of being very underwhelmed (and never understanding why the brits liked their scones) finally I get it. Airy and fluffy and the right amount of understated sweetness. Espresso also good and friendly staff. Good stop for before you explore the nature around.

Really nice little coffee shop on one side of the braid hills. The fruit scones were so good we had to go back and get a second! Not sure if there's any inside seating as everyone seemed to be outside and I couldn't see any signs. So just be prepared and wrap up warm (although the tea or coffee will help). Only one minor issue, I wish they would have a dogs on a leash policy for customers. It's not their fault and in fact it seems to be more and more common these days, but dog owners who really don't have any control of their dog, but thinking they do, having them off leash. It's not too much to ask for people to put their dogs on a leash whilst in an environment where everyone is just trying to enjoy a hot drink and food in peace. But this isn't the owners fault.

We often stop by the Lodge Coffee House before or after a nice walk in the Hermitage. Lovely soups and crepes - not your average coffee house and reasonably priced as well. On top of nice food, they really made an effort to make the place nice for kids (find the little secret hiding place) and dogs. And any other clients with tables outside. It's always clean and lovely service. I'd totally recommend as the best cheap eating place in Edinburgh.

Five of us in a walking group and this was a much needed stop for a light lunch. Very busy and outside seating was full - people with dogs and children - but we managed to get a table inside just as the occupiers were leaving. Two had soup with homemade bread, and two had toasties. I had a hot roll with lorne sausage. We all had teas and coffees. Prices were reasonable and service was quick. Nice place and very popular when the weather is fine.

We heard that the Lodge does pizza every fortnight and promptly went along with friends to celebrate one of the children’s birthday. We had a fantastic evening, it is byob, so a suitable amount of proseco and wine was taken along. You can buy soft drinks for the children, which is ideal. The pizza is superb, thin based and not too doughy(!) and very reasonably priced. The weather was kind to us and there is cover if it gets a bit damper, as it can in Edinburgh. A great evening and a superb local option for something different on a Friday evening, highly recommend.

We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and it was packed. There were only 2 members of staff but they kept the queue moving at a fair speed. We managed to get a seat inside. There are seats outside and also outside but under a large gazebo. I like that dogs were welcome indoors too. We went as advertised as having large gluten free range. I don't know if we picked a bad day for gluten free or if there had been a rush on. Food was ordered at the counter then brought to us. It is mainly cake, soup and hot filled rolls that is served. The soup was gluten free, they had ran out of bread but offered gluten free tortilla chips as an alternative. The staff are aware of the risk of cross-contamination with gluten products and work to avoid it. There was only the choice of 1 gluten free cake. The ordinary scones were quite large and tasty. The cleaning could have been a little better, not at a point where I felt alarmed or disgusted though. This may have been in part to how busy it was. Worth stopping in if you are in the area.

Visited this coffee house due to its lovely location. Wanted to sit inside, were ignored by staff, very loud music, after a while we found out that we had to order at the counter (which could have been simply explained by passing staff). Order coffee and cake. Coffee ok, cake selection poor and chocolate cake must have been a couple of days old as very dry and not tasty. Place needs to be refurbished inside. Tables dirty. No napkins. Staff doesn't seem to care about friendliness. Won't be rushed back

Perfectly situated near the end of our walk, we thoroughly enjoyed our coffee and scones. The staff were friendly, and the service was first rate. I was pleased to see a staff member asking an owner to follow "house rules", and put her dog on a lead! Great place for a stop-off after a walk through Blackford Glen. The cafe is dog and welly-friendly, so can be a bit muddy at times. It has the vibe of a ski lodge. Inside is quite small but the staff seem to cope well with a high turnover of customers and the tables outside make up for it. Great toasties and crepes. The staff are brill too. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is that the loo was a bit neglected. Great addition to local community and obviously doing a roaring trade.

This is a nice place to have a drink or snack, especially after a lovely walk through Hermitage of Braid. It has inside and outside seating, a good range of home baking, and friendly staff. We've been twice, sampling the coffee, sandwiches, scones and cake! All were delicious. It's dog friendly, allowing them both outside and in. If you're not a doggie person, this might be a problem, particularly inside, as the space is small. Overall, this is a very good addition to the local amenities.

Absolutely the worst experience of my life! If you’re thinking about visiting Cafe Mango, don’t. The staff is unbelievably rude and behaves like they’re doing you a favor by serving you. Customer service? Non-existent. The food? A complete disaster. Everything we ordered was either overcooked, under-seasoned, or downright inedible. It felt like they scooped leftovers from a garbage bin and served them as "meals." To make it worse, when we politely raised concerns about the food, the staff responded with arrogance and hostility instead of fixing the issue. The place was filthy, the atmosphere suffocating, and even the water tasted bad! I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy. Avoid this place like the plague—it’s a waste of time, money, and your taste buds. If I could give it negative stars, I would.
