In July, after finishing my cycle along the camel trail i was truly blessed to have found this amazing place at the end of my journey. The café supplies an incredible atmosphere from the moment you step in. The coziness of the café is truly enjoyable, the staff are warm and welcoming and not to mention the food was most delightful. It is everything you could hope for, especially after enjoying a nice traverse along the trail. I can not wait to go back!

Having finished cycling the camel trail we were very happy to see the cafe. The menu was smaller than expected however the food did not disappoint. Even though breakfast had finished they were more than happy to cook a bacon roll and it was delicious.

We made a special trip here after re-searching reviews for vegan/veggie breakfast cafes. Firstly the coffee machine was not working, we could forgive that as these things happen. Lady cooking food seemed very flustered and a little rude with the other gentleman helping . In turn he then spilt the hot drinks down himself on first service, second time we got them but my teabag had burst (wasn't comfy pointing this out). Food arrived and vegan sausages seemed like Linda McCartney bland and unflavoured specials. Paprika potatoes (which I was looking forward to) were just fried potatoes. Toast was just dry bread because there was no vegan butter. In all the breakfast was basic and not what I would expect of a place that advertises vegan food so much. Really disappointed, and I think owner will be too with this review. It seemed like opening day and no one knew what to do, young man was very polite and kind. 👎

After cycling for 16 miles I was very happy to see this cafe, but I got a very frosty welcome. I arrived at 9.26 and the doors were open so I went in to be told fiercely ‘Give us 5 minutes will you’. I waited 10. Then after going inside and standing there for another three minutes, the lady said what can I get you. No smile. I got my tea and it was very nice, but I didn’t really enjoy it because the lady and her (much friendlier assistant) were bitching about Sarah, whoever she is. It’s a shame, it could be such a lovely place but without a warm welcome I felt like I was an inconvenience.

Ensure you get a receipt for your order. This cafe took payment in advance but did not deliver the food. After an extended wait - it is called Snail's Pace - the customer asked when the lunch would be available. The staff denied taking the order. Food was only prepared on presentation of the receipt, with no compensation offered for the extended wait. There are also plenty wasps which like their canned soft drinks. Never again. I found Snails Pace on Google looking for somewhere whilst cycling the Camel Trail, so messaged them about vegan options and so called for lunch. Its a popular cycling place as its half way on the Camel Trail. Snails Pace is in a recycled shipping container with a wooden conservatory attached with solar panels and all takeaway containers and cups are eco friendly and biodegradable. We had two superfood salads which today consisted of cashew & red pepper couscous, garlic mushrooms, vine leaves, red cabbage & beetroot slaw and salad leaves and was a good sized portion. We also had two teas with oat milk. The salad was perfect, full of flavour and satisfying and we wolfed it down. There was a vegan breakfast available, butterbean houmous sandwich and a vegan cake.

Myself and friends were visiting my family over the bank holiday weekend who live locally and ordered brunch to eat at the outdoor seating. Whilst ordering we were a little taken aback by the rude girl taking orders however we persevered as we’d walked an hour to reach the cafe. When the orders were ready to pick up and called out we wanted to check we were collecting the correct food however the girl again taking orders couldn’t tell us what was wrapped up in each package and was less than helpful when asked if it was our food. There was then a drink missing from my order which I questioned and was told I had not ordered, I was then made to feel like this was my fault and was spoken to in a very rude manner that was quite unacceptable and I was shocked by. Thankfully the staff member making the coffees was able to assist me with my simple request for a plain black coffee. The food however was delicious as always, would recommend the breakfast sandwiches. It was such a shame the meal and experience was ruined by the rude staff member especially given this was one of my first breaks away from working full time in a busy Covid hospital. I would love to return for the great food however I’m not sure it’s worth it for the poor service I received.

There is such a good selection, we all had a different one and if the portions hadn't been so generous, would certainly have been back for another one! The whole natural, sustainable ethos of the cafe is a breath of fresh air - even the cafe it's self is a re-used shipping container, although you'd never guess, clad in re-cycled timber! you can also hire bikes there, which would make the food even tastier after a long ride on the Camel Trail - if that was possible! The staff couldn't be friendlier and the whole atmosphere is relaxing and pleasurable. We cycled up the Camel Trail from Padstow where we was holidaying to take Lunch at the Snails Pace Cafe. We'd heard the cafe was an eco cafe and was a little worried, sometime these places get too wrapped up in the eco stuff they forget about the food, drink and service. This is not the case here. The day we arrived was very hot summers day. The inside of the cafe was intolerably hot, but that was solved by sitting outside. Air con is a no no for the eco-credentials, but finding a way of slinging a camo net over the outside of the roof or opening the room would certainly help the staff inside if nobody else.We took a sandwich and quiche both were served in a timely fashion and were delicious served with side salads. I believe the ingredients are local where possible, but this is not shoved in your face. To finish up we took two cream teas which again were delicious and fresh coming out of the oven a few mins before we ordered. The place was busy but staff managed it well. There was sufficient for our little lad to do and a nice touch was the provision of a few chunky toys for toddlers. The composting loo was interesting, but worked.

About 7 miles up the trail at Wenford Bridge you will find this unusual but charming cafe. They are said to be off grid. The menu is limited but is all fresh and prepared as you order. There is space to eat inside however most people seem to head outside to their picnic tables. Young cheerful staff bring your food out to you. They also hire bicycles if you fancy a ride through some beautiful scenery yourself. There is lots of free parking if you arrive by car. I was one of a group of approximately 20 who stopped for refreshments latish afternoon after a walk. I found the place delightful and very much liked the ethos of the cafe. I only had an ice cream which is why I do not feel I can give more than very good for the restaurant rating. Some of my friends had tea, cake and scones and all seemed delighted with everything. Staff very helpful and friendly. The menu had good choices. The flowers/planters are a lovely touch. There were some toys for young children to play with which is also a very thoughtful thing to provide. I'm keen to make another visit to try the food - maybe with a bicycle next time to explore more of the Camel Trail.

We found this place last year through trip advisor, and our first port of call this year for breakfast... absolutely fantastic food... its not quick service but it’s all cooked to order. Good strong coffee and the elderflower cordial is a must...

The snail pace cafe was warm friendly cafe with delicious food! The staff were very welcoming and the place had a lovely family friendly feel! The food was delicious and nutritious with lovely cakes for a treat too! The snail pace cafe is set in an idealistic setting with a chance to have a lovely walk or ride along the trail or you can just sit and enjoy your food and drinks in this lovely setting! Will recommend to all my family and friends!! And will be visiting again very soon.

Visited in October and breakfast was excellent. In May the food was not as good, fried eggs were nearly cremated. Hope this was just a one -off

Cycling along the camel trail we hadn’t planned to stop here but ended up having to. Menu was only small but it all looked good, when it came out it was very good, fresh and tasty. We were expecting just a standard cafe but much better than expected!

We called in for tea and cake after our walk. The service was friendly and very efficient. I had a very moist very naughty brownie which was heaven! They were also happy to provide pints of water for us and a variety of other cakes which everyone enjoyed.

Hired some bikes from them. The bikes worked well but both their tandems were out of order sadly. The man was not too worried whether or not we wore helmets, suggesting a lack of care about his customers' safety, but was otherwise very helpful.

Ate lunch here a couple of days ago. Staff welcoming, friendly and professional; service fast and the food (a ploughman's salad with ham) was really good and fresh. Can't ask for much else, perhaps apart from a slightly larger selection, but then it is a small café! Thanks again

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.
