We have had amazing food this evening in a wonderful environment and with really friendly staff, Lily in particular was really attentive. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our food, which was cooked perfectly (thank you chef)... I will definitely be coming back 😀

Food was superb. Service on the other hand wasn't good, 40mins for a drink 1hour 10mins for our food, thanks god the food was good. A couple of complimentary drinks were given to apologise Staff were polite.

I came here with my husband last night before going to Moddershall Oaks Spa as we wanted something different. We read the reviews and decided to come here. I'm soooo glad we did we both had the chicken tenders for starter which were fabulous and then we both had 2 of the burgers both different. The food was incredible, staff were friendly and very attentive. 5/5 stars, we will definitely come again despite the distance! Make sure you visit this lovely locally owned gem!

The Christmas Menu is very limited and quite expensive. When we finally got to sit for our meal it was very crammed in there was 18 of us so not a small party but not a lot of room. The Service wasn't the best never really asked if there was anything else we needed or if everything was OK with our meals. The chips were cold and there should have been coleslaw with the steak. We did ask for some and it came out and it was a huge amount which was added on top of the bill. One of the waiters had a really bad attitude and told us that someone must have had one of the meals because it had already been bought out it hadn't it was in his hands telling us you'll have to have this meal because it's been cooked so tough basically we are not bringing another meal out. Regardless of whether it was what the person had Ordered just really bad attitude. The atmosphere was dull and the food average. Wouldn't go back again as it wasn't a pleasant experience.

We had the rump steak and the backyard burger- absolutely amazing! The toppings on the chips and the sides were also fantastic and really complimented the food. Their espresso martinis were also amazing. One of the best places in town for food and drink with amazing service. Madison was kind and patient with us deciding on the food and made the experience that much nicer.

Overall, I left a little disappointed. The links that I ordered only had 1 cut sausage, and the honey and apple ribs were spicier than they should have been. I would say to double-check if you're not a fan of spice because a few dishes have chilli with no mention of it.

The change of menu was not to our taste. The food was okay but not particularly warm when served. The table water is served in corked bottles which smell mouldy. Overall, unimpressed and will not be returning again.

Top food, share for 2 for £49.50 was perfect. Not sure about the new menu @ 60 for the same dish. other then that the food and service is 5*

Was greeted at the door by a very pleasant young girl and shown to our table, it was a Thursday night so wasn't particularly busy we ordered drinks and the girl brought them over and accidentally knocked the glass of wine all over the table me and the floor and the glass shattered everywhere, she apologised and disappeared, after about 3-4 minutes a young man come out with a mop and bucket and he too apologised we got up and I went to dry my clothes in the toilet, after he cleaned up we sat and ordered. The food was really good, we took advantage of burger night £20 for a burger chips and a drink I don't think I would ever choose the steak at £34 for the cheapest piece. The place needs a bit of spruce up and it lacks a little atmosphere. When the bill came they charged us less than it should of been for the mishap.

me and my boyfriend visited smoke and rye today. Was a cracking atmosphere with lovely staff. Especially Madie who was lovely and attentive to us ! My boyfriend had the pig pen. Which was beautifully cooked and so tasty . I had the Nashville hot chicken and waffle. The chicken was very good but wasn’t a fan of the waffle really itself ! Which let the meal down a little . But overall nice visit :)

A lovely spot beside a canal not far from the M6 motorway, for some great food. Chilled ambience in the outdoor garden, beside the canal locks. Will be coming back in a future Scotland-Wales trip!

We were driving south on the M6 looking for a place that would be serving dinner on a rainy Sunday night and found this place. Staff was super accommodating and found us a table (not our usual experience without booking ahead) and as two Americans, we enjoyed reading the menu. We ordered two burgers (Stetson and whatever the veggie one is called, subbed regular smoked cheese) and both were great. Lily was our server and she was super! Parking was easy - In car park just around the corner, quick walk out the back along the canal to the restaurant.

We found this place on Google while driving down the M6 on a rainy Sunday evening, looking for SOMEplace that would have an open kitchen serving dinner. They graciously seated us, very friendly staff, and the food (as two Americans we enjoyed reading the menu☺️) was excellent.

I’ve been going to Smoke and Rye for years. Me and my partner celebrate our birthdays there, we went there for our engagement meal. In particular Lauren is almost always there and she’s a super star. She remembers me every time. And usually has a chat when she has chance. Last night me and my friend went for my birthday meal, we had the sharing platter with some fries and pudding. All absolutely lovely as usual! Our server was Alfie, who is always super friendly and nice. Had a wonderful time. Thanks!

Lovely tasty food, service a bit slow, we were a table of 4. Had a table of 8 men next to us, and we couldn't hear ourselves think over them talking. We were sat upstairs, and the noise from the guys echoed through the room.

We all enjoyed our food. My steak was perfectly cooked to my liking. Sadly we found the upstairs area noisy making conversation difficult, so we ate our food and left, not staying for desserts. Staff were pleasant enough but we had no opportunity to order more drinks once the main courses had been brought. I found the menu a bit limited for my personal taste

Lovely meal out, great food. Service was fantastic. Even though the restaurant was full we were given seating in the bar area and service was exactly the same as if we were in the restaurant. The staff were perfect. Gave my two year old colouring pages and crayons and the kids food was presented so well!! Only fault is the steak was ordered as "very well done" and came out medium well so our fussy member of the group didn't eat it all however my husband gave her leftovers a good home.

Just pooped in for a drink we were served by Maddison, well what an amazing place good variety on drinks and then we could smell the food … we we could not resist beautiful tasty burgers … we will definitely come back

Having pre booked food and therefore knowing the price of the meals and the expected spend per head - I was expecting a polished/professional restaurant style service and atmosphere. In fairness we may not have created a good initial impression as we had an un-opened bottle of Prosecco (from our pre drinks nearby as time got away from us) Despite this we asked if we could drink this bottle with maybe a corkage fee but we were promptly dismissed. We then ordered drinks and our food order checked but yet still we were served with completely the wrong drinks order and despite asking three times still struggled to order - it was like we were being punished for the initial cheek of taking another bottle onto their premises which now seemed their sole focus. The food was good quality in fairness but halfway through the meal (as it was a red hot day and a member of our group storing the bottle in the window upstairs) the cork popped on our infamous bottle and we were absolutely taken to task by the staff who challenged us immediately about disobeying their rules. They also moaned to each other (not knowing we were within ear shot) about us deliberately opening the bottle. We were a group of 12 professional individuals all 35+ and celebrating a birthday paying upwards of £50 per head (at least) and yet we were treated like 19 year old delinquents. The staff were rude, unprofessional and it’s no wonder that the restaurant was 3/4 empty. If they had said in the first instance - no you can’t drink that bottle - we’ll pop it in the fridge and you can collect when you go, there would have been no animosity but as it happens with the despicable attitude of the staff actually - none of the four couples will eat there again and the people we met from stone tonight have all been informed of the dreadful experience.

First time to this location, it was a suprise Fathers day meal. The hot links are great, and the Lone star chicken burger/ sandwich was outstanding, next time I will stick to just the mains as was about to burst to much of a good thing, had the low alcohol beer which was fantastic, others had hot wings a little spicy and burnt ends along with Stetson burger and Cajun shrimp. Great service and helpful friendly staff, made for a great meal and a relaxed eating experience. Thank you.

If I could rate more stars for the food, I definitely would. Me and my wife had the beef rib and baby back ribs and it was absolutely amazing. The meat fell off the bone and the glazes were perfect. I tried grits for the first time and was not disappointed. The only aspect of the menu that wasn’t enjoyed was the child’s but it was a risk for us as he doesn’t like anything battered/fried. However when we tried the buttermilk chicken it was super tasty! Well done guys, food was amazing

A very good burger shop in Stone with a small but very good selection. One of the best burgers I've eaten so far. You can also sit there really comfortably. Only recommended.

An amateur entomologist might delight with the amount of insects flying around. The place was mostly empty, which should have been a red flag, but we decided to stay and give it a chance. How on earth do you mess up Collard Greens this bad...they were super sweet and vinegary. The steak hadn't been season and was mostly fat. I really need the UK to learn how to make Mac N' Cheese because I don't know what kind of Midwest Suburban housewife casserole with bell peppers, jalapeños and onions on top that was, but it damn sure wasn't Macaroni and Cheese. But the alcohol was fine, definitely recommend the Kool-Aid Cocktail.

Being a Texan, I wasn’t sure what to expect, as I’m usually disappointed with American / Southern style restaurants in the Uk. My husband and I went in for whiskey the night before and were very impressed, so decided to go back for lunch with the family the next day. The food was incredible. We had the Lone Star (shout out to my home state!) and it was perfect. Opted for a side of truffle fries, as I’m never one to turn down queso, with a side of ranch - YES, nailed it! We also had the Mango Habanero wings, slider, ribs, and kids Mac and cheese. Everything was delish and reminded me of being back home. The decor & music were great, I truly felt like I was back in Texas. We live a couple hours away but will most definitely be returning every time we are up visiting family! Yeehaw!

We arrived on a Friday dinner time. We had the platter for two. The food was average. The full rib rack was extremely extremely fatty. They clearly did not do any work to it before cooking. The meat and taste of it was nice and tender but kinda ruined by the fat. The brisket was tender and juicy and tasted great. The two sausages although extremely small were lovely and left you disappointed there was not more. They should increase the size of this for sure. The wings again very small but tasty. The bbq beans again tasty but very spicy. I really don't think they need the spice. They would be great without this. Chips were cold by the time we got the salt shaker. Daft that it's not on the table already. While I'm on about the table. Try cleaning them before hand. Our napkins were pretty much glued to the table they were that sticky. The fixins.. the onions rings are not crispy in the slightest. Massive let down for £4.5, how did the chef manage this??? They were like doughy. Never had onion rings like it. The mini mac. Not alot to say really. Every thing is just expensive for what it is. Charge these prices when you get the quality right.

Went to Smoke and Rye yesterday for my birthday as I wanted a big ‘nasty’ burger but with a good easy going atmosphere and from all reviews and recommendations I chose smoke and rye. I had mango and habanero chicken wings for starter - extremely spicy, but loved it. I made a mess of my hands but I accepted and the wet wipes provided were useful. As main I had the Stetson on the Roof burger. So easy to eat/cut through. The bone marrow was juicy and delicious. I needed a break half way through but that’s exactly what I needed! Washed it down with 2 Big truck driver cocktails. And as dessert I had the Peanutbutter and Jelly Cheesecake. I love cheesecakes in general but this is my favourite so far, it is dangerous how good is it. I was also offered a peanutbutter shot which was amazing. Loved the service (very friendly and easy going), good prices, good quality of food and did not have to wait too much either. A unique restaurant and experience which is not matched by any other restaurant in Staffordshire/West Midlands area.

Visited Smoke & Rye on our journey home (Suffolk). An opportune choice of restaurant which was a brilliant decision. 4 adults and 4 children. A few people in the restaurant when we arrived but otherwise quiet. Kids all had nachos to start, clear plates. Adults shared nachos- best ever. Mac and cheese and a cheeseburger for the kids went down well. 2 adults enjoyed the Stetson burger. 2 adults gorged on the sharing platter. We have left very full and content! Would 100% recommend!

This was an epic lunch!! Sharing platter was full of the most succulent meat and spicy flavoursome bean stew. The kids menus were very generous and went down a storm. Definitely worth the diversion from the M6!

Sinead our server was quick, friendly and efficient. She had a good laugh with us at the end which was a nice touch Food was brilliant, well presented and tasted good. Clearly well made and prepared, particularly liked the pickles and slaw with the meat as a nice cut to the salt and BBQ.

I wasn’t sure when we first arrived and I first looked at the menu - the wasn’t anything I particularly wanted. But what I did order was absolutely fantastic; I do like the southern American menu with items I’ve never had in the UK before. It was a gorgeous meal. The service was good too - I really appreciated how the server made an effort with our son.

Good food if you like your steaks

Been here a few times and food is always really good. Staff have always been fine but I came to pay the bill and noticed they charged us for sauce! After bringing our food out they asked if we'd like any sauce and like in the past we did but never been charged for it before. Obviously it's homemade but you'd of thought the staff would of mentioned there would be an extra cost for it!!! We had 2 bbq sauces & one ketchup came to £4.50! Could of got 2 full bottles for that price. Won't stop me going again as we like the place & the food but I'll leave the sauce next time...

That was my first visit and I had quite nice time there. Staff are very helpful and polite. The food was very delicious. I had beef short rib which was exceptionally tasty. I also had a ribeye steak it was perfectly cooked with variety of sauces. Everything in this place was very good.

Booked for Mother’s Day/ father’s birthday for 11 people (mixture of adults and children). Nothing was too much trouble, easy booking system to pre-order our food from the winter large party menu (only necessary as we were a large party). A phone call was made to us a few days prior to our arrival to ensure all meals and notes on our booking were perfect for our day. Upon arrival, we brought balloons and a cake with us which were added to the table on our behalf. We were seated 5 mins after arrival and drinks orders were taken shortly afterwards. Food arrived promptly. Everyone had different (mains and desserts) and we were all in agreement that all meals were delicious! The cake was brought out at the end of the meal and the restaurant erupted in a chorus of Happy Birthday. Staff were brilliant throughout. A little sparkling gem! Thank you. We will be back! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

My husband and myself popped in on the off chance they have a table on a Saturday afternoon and we were pleased that they did. My husband had the STETSON ON THE ROOF and has rated it in the top 3 burgers he's ever had. I had the SOUTHERN COMFORT IN CHINATOWN without the bun and it was to die for! Thanks for a lovely atmosphere and fantastic food!

Ate at S&R on Saturday night for the first time. Food, drinks, staff, vibe, decor, music etc was all first class. I had an issue with my meal (which I won't go into because it had no bearing on the night overall) but it was dealt with super quick, and I've no doubt at all that it was an unlucky one-off. I'll definitely be back 👌

Really enjoyed it. Great food. Looked after well by Sinead too. The beer was a revelation as it was tasty and not gassy, and called Blue Ribbon. It’s the type of place that any number of people would love. Will be back one day for sure if we are down that way.
