Decent sized portions, very quick and friendly staff! We had the haddock, it was a decent size and cooked nicely. They offered us to try their home-made tartar sauce and it’s well worth it and we’re keen to buy it next time! 😃 Am keen to go back and try their “Kidlington Burger” !

Our first time using this Fish and chip shop.The staff are very friendly and polite.We had large fish and small chips which I must say were Very Nice indeed. We would definitely visit again when returning home from Oxford to Banbury.

Staff were very friendly. Food was good. My only complaint was that I received a vegetable spring roll when I ordered a curry roll.

The lady on the counter was very friendly, and I appreciated the generosity as portions are really good sizes, definitely worth the money. She was training someone too so I could understand it must be difficult to give both the new staff member and customers full attention, but she still made sure she dealt with customers promptly, kindly and consistently. They make a fantastic tartar sauce in-house, which may I add was really very delicious! Also if you plan to go here, it's always nice to have cash as their card machine actually takes a small percentage of their earning which I think isn't very fair considering how good they were, they should always get the full profit, plus there is a cash machine just a few minutes walk up the road at sainsburys. Thanks again, Smarts! A very appetising meal.

All I could ever asked at a chippy. I had a large cod & chips, the fish was fresh, tasty, with a crisp batter, not too fat, I had a more than a decent portion of perfectly fried chips, gravy sauce was dense as I like it to be. Keep up the good work, cheers to the crew!

Hubbies fish n chips was ok sadly I asked for chicken breast but got home to a thigh...not end of the world but it fell to bits and was SO dry really disappointed as tried after a recommendation

about 3 weeks ago I rang the shop to say that I was a little disappointed with the size of the fish my wife and I had. The lady owner was VERY NICE about this and asked me to call in when I returned from my holiday. I did so yesterday 29.11.22 and she was even nicer in person, two free (generous) potions FOC, an apology. I NOW feel a little guilty about complaining, but I must say the replacements were delicious and I highly recommend the this chip shop. THANK YOU.

Delicious! The staff are very friendly and helpful. I’ve been there many times and it has never disappointed me. I would highly recommend this first and chip shop. There kids box comes with a lollipop and fruitshoot (you can choose between blackcurrant and orange).Reasonable price as well.They also do cold drinks, pies and more!

Lovely food and friendly service. Their kids meal boxes are great and their chip servings are a decent amount - we share a small portion and a kids portion between two adults and one child.

I usually use Albert's in the High Street, but decided to try Smarts despite the number of reviews complaining of hard chips. And...? Friendly staff, decent fish but hard and tasteless chips. As some reviewers praise the chips, that suggests variability rather than a consistent problem. I hope the owners will see these reviews as constructive advice for improving their product.

I only really go for chips, when I'm on this side of Kidlington. In that respect I've always been happy. A large portion is huge - easily feeds 3 and that's a hungry 3. Price is reasonable. Are there quite a lot of "hard crunchy" chips, as some reviewers have complained about. I'd say yes - and I wish there were more! Some crispy chips mixed in with the soft fat ones is great. As for the reviewer who complained about the chips being fried more than once... Heston Blumenthal cooks his three times!

I asked for fish & chips and a tub of curry sauce. They were advertising fish and chips at the special price of £6.50 yet I was charged £9.60 for my order. Is it really £3.10 for the curry. Fish and Chips have certainly increased in price round here since I last bought some and it was already an expensive take away previously. Fish was ok, as was the curry sauce. The chips were average at best, with a lot of hard crispy ones mixed in. I think I'll try another chippy next time or make my own!

Alright chips, but they cook meat products in the same oil as fish. So being a pescatarian doesn't leave much choice!

Sounds like, however useful criticism is to a takeaway that does daily business, that the joke 1 star reviewers likely never even visited or had some immature vehemence against not being morons. My honest view of this place: always been good, and Smarts across the country when I've been, from Kent to Oxfordshire, has been very reasonable. My latest visit showed an expanded menu, and a £6.40 Whoppa Burger meal. I ate on the premises: there is a restaurant space next door where elderly and children often visit with the middle aged. The cleanliness is not bad. The staff have been generally polite to me. Couldn't ask for more from non-homecooked food basically. If I want to sit in silence I'd stay at home all the time. My full rating support.

Just waisted another £11 on what was supposed to be Fish and Chips, they were revolting. Caked in soggy thick batter and the chips must have been leftover. Do yourself a favour,go up to the village and get some nice food or you can save some time and just throw your money straight into the blue Bin outside your back door. Never going back

We both had fish and chips plus my husband ordered a curry sauce for me. Won't be going there again! Found a much better place which we'll be going to in future. A decent sized fish and chip shop with outdoor seating. Fast service with friendly staff which is why it seems to be popular with the locals. There is a good variety of options but nothing more than the usual fish and chip shop menu. Ketchup costs money here, but that is pretty normal.
