Have driven past lots of times but never had time to stop until today. Thought I would just pop in and have a look around. Was very impressed, they had a huge variety of good quality local produce on sale. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Stopped for a quick coffee and cake which was scrummy. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Dreadful place. Unwelcoming and over priced! We were told off for not waiting in the right place for a table even though the restaurant was quiet and we had walked up to the counter. Waitress made massive drama about finding us a table - majority of tables were free! Eventually sat down and waited for at least 20 minutes. We only wanted a coffee! We eventually walked out.

Disappointing visit for lunch, long wait for a table, long wait to have order taken, long wait for food. Pulled Pork Panini was OK, accompanying salad only had one salad leaf, a couple of batons of pepper and one slice of cucumber. Sausage Roll was no more than a couple of bites and didn't justify the menu price. Latte was barely warm Disappointing visit this time having enjoyed previous visits

Waste of time. £14 notes for a ploughman’s board that came one hour later with one small size of bread, some poorly cut cheese and tomatoes that had not been taken off the stick. Service absolutely painful. Top tip- order yesterday for your food to arrive within an acceptable time period, or, don’t eat here at all. Never again.

We visited today as they advertise a Sunday lunch , however today Sunday lunch had sold out / we didn’t do Sunday lunch today ( dependant on which member of staff you spoke to. So as no Sunday roast was available we chose from the menu One seafood tagatelli and one beef burger ordered Restaurant was pretty empty a lot of diners left as no Sunday lunch was on offer . What can we say Seafood tagetelli was tasteless and bland Burger dish was ordered without the bun. Bland dry salad with no seasoning or dressing . Very dry chips and a very dry burnt burger ( I can still taste the charcoal flavour ) Pickles and burger mayo as advertised on menu missing and had to be requested. Unfortunately both diners did not enjoy their meal . Menu has changed since our last visit and it looks like the chef has too Could not recommend and would not rush back based on today’s experience .

Disappointed as wanted to try this for some time. Very expensive. Crisps and salad accompany sandwiches which we didn’t want. A sausage roll turned out to be a dry roll with 5 half sausages crammed inside. Good friendly service though.

An interesting venue and we looked forward to lunch........ however, a very limited and not inspiring menu which seemed quite expensive! We ordered Caesar salad but the egg was omitted - we ordered a bowl of chips but they arrived very cold..... after a mention to the staff a new bowl did arrive We had a very quiet discussion with the Manager who made no apology and sadly not interested in Customer Care. We will not return or tell our friends to visit..... very disappointing visit!

First visit, won't be repeated. Food was terrible . Rolls for egg mayonnaise and smoked salmon were hard and stale. £16 for a chicken burger that had 3 hard strips of chicken inside. Looked like deboned wings. Waitress was rude when we complained and apparently we were wrong! Also 10% discretionary charge added to bill but you can't remove it or see where it is added.

Very disappointing. Unremarkable breakfast in every sense. So overpriced for a plate of food trying to be something it wasn’t. I suppose the biggest issue is that it’s not actually a farm shop because it’s not actually on a farm although I knew that so can’t blame anyone else. Not going back.

Lovely coffee and almond croissant. Decided to come back after a long time away and I loved it. Busy but not too busy cafe, well spaced tables so you aren’t on top of other people. My friend and I found smallford farm shop on Google and decided to meet there for lunch one Saturday afternoon. We were not disappointed at all, there is a lovely shop upon arrival selling lots of lovely unique things, different gift ideas, food items etc. the restaurant area was full but the staff member was really helpful and friendly, we only had to wait under 10 minutes and a table was ready for us. The food was very good - would highly recommend the chicken burger, and the coffee was lovely. We both really enjoyed it and would definitely go back. The car park can get busy but we both managed to find a space.

Wonderful experience at the Smallford farm cafe. We were able to take our dog and the Waitress brough him some water before taking our order (we like he was put first). We had the pork cracking sandwich on sourdough. It was delicious. So good we would have it again! I had Prosecco and hubby had a strawberry and blueberry smoothie. Both delicious. We went home with a Biscoff slice! Everyone was friendly and service was quick. 10/10 experience.

Today visited this farm shop once again with my young grandson . The cafe section was as usual excellent with very friendly staff. However, that experience was not mirrored in the shop section . At the end of the visit as usual my wife decided to buy a few gifts for our grandson, in this instance Christmas baubles. At she went to pay at the counter one of the baubles slipped from her hand and broke into many pieces. An assistant kindly said ‘don’t worry it was an accident I’ll get you another one’. However, on paying she was overruled by another assistant who said ‘ so that will be three including the one you smashed !’ We would have paid anyway for the broken bauble but the attitude of the second assistant was incredible . Where are the signs for paying for broken articles ? I suggest you avoid this shop , particularly if you have young children as well.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch. When we arrived it was clearly very busy, but we were shown straight to our reserved table. Then we were ignored - completely- for more than 30 minutes. No waiter came anywhere near us. The table next to us who were ordering as we arrived hadn’t even received their starters 30 mins after ordering. We decided to leave. The staff didn’t even notice us going. We won’t be back!

What an absolute gem! Took Mum for breakfast before shopping for her birthday. We all (4) had full English with tea. The cups were warmed, a pot of tea each - loose leaf, brewed to preference. The breakfasts all came out together, poached eggs were perfectly runny, quality bacon & sausages, mushroom and tomato. Sourdough toast, remained toasted as beans on the side are an amazing touch as they can run away and be the base of everything on the plate. The plates are a generous size, really showcasing the meal. What a great start to a busy day and a new found favourite eatery.

Sunday brunch was a joy, the avocado toast just delicious as was the coffee, my husband and son both had the Full English which is their go to fav. Can’t say enough good things about this place, family run, reliably delicious food and a shop full of lovely bits and pieces to eat or buy as gifts. We took home steak kebabs, sausages and salads from the deli for our evening BBQ. Totally worth paying just a little bit extra for quality food and advice from the butcher on how to cook. Just fabulous. Special mentions for Virginia always smiling, welcoming and friendly, and of course Darota - the favourite of all the customers 😍 Give this place a try - you will go back!

We go here occasionally for inspiration for creating new dishes at home, away from the run of the mill supermarket ranges. There are lots of interesting independent brand products in the farm shop ( from sauces to pastas) aside from the veg from the shop's own land ( admittedly rather a tad on the pricey side). There's a well informed butcher with some good meat and a nice range of gift ideas and quality cards too. A big shout out to the quietly lovely and conscientious Sarah who clearly takes pride in her work when running the shop who makes the end of the whole shop a good experience, taking gentle care of the goods as well as making it clear what is available. Thanks Sarah. After the food shop, the cafe/restaurant had a nice atmosphere (plenty of space- not cramped) when we were there. The customers ranged from those having a morning break for coffee and cake to two folk a conducting business meeting face to face and someone at a meeting online. All pleasantly unhurried. A quality business. Good luck to them.

My sister and I went to the Smallford Farm Shop Cafe for Coronation afternoon tea on the Friday before the Coronation to get in the mood and we certainly did. The choice was very generous (really nice to have Coronation Chicken sandwiches and Coronation Quiche) and the flavours were great. It was really nice to get loose tea choices with endless refills. As we could not manage to eat all of it we got a carton container (no plastic in sight 👍) to take the rest home. I have only discovered this place recently but will certainly be coming back for more!

We have visited this establishment previously and had a pleasant experience but this Bank Holiday with friends from out of town, the service and food were wholly unacceptable. Firstly we had to stand in line at the counter for circa 30 minutes simply to place our order. Thereafter the delivery of our Roast Beef Sandwich on granary toast took a further 30 minutes - but arrived in white ciabatta bread. So we sent it back. 20 minutes later our sandwich arrived with little haste even when we endeavoured to chase it up. It actually arrived with little apology, just as we were about to cancel and leave. The Roast Beef Sandwich was disappointing as it was served minus the described rocket and mustard mayo leaving the toast dry. The one thin slice of homegrown organic tomato was delicious but tiny. The much looked forward to “sliced topside from our butcher counter” was a small and fatty piece of beef. Not even a pickle or piece of parsley to decorate. All disappointing. We asked to speak to the manager who explained that last Bank Holiday they weren’t that busy. That was that. So I mentioned that she might have offered a discount or better still a refund but she was immediately distracted by the next customer. We will not return following this experience. Caveat emptor.

I've been to the cafe for breakfast before and it was the best avocado on toast I've ever had, so I thought id try the roast. It was honestly one of the most beautiful roasts I've ever had! The beef required no teeth it was so tender, the roasties were crispy and yet fluffy and the gravy was by far the best gravy I have ever had. Oh and look at the size of the yorkshires!!! I love that they bring all the trimmings out on a board for you to pick what you want too. The staff their couldn't be more helpful and it's great value for money.

The Glasshouse Café at Smallford Farmshop has become quite a regular stop. It is easier to get to than the city center (by car / bus via Hatfield Road or by bike / foot along the Alban Way), has plenty of free parking right outside, and a great outdoor seating area that is often shaded from the sun and any prevailing wind. Dogs are also welcome with plenty of water bowls.Cakes were fresh (supplied by Simmons Bakery) and the Chocolate Brownie with Walnuts is excellent and so is the cappuccino (although best enjoyed without the chocolate sprinkles). We also had a banana milkshake and an espresso.Afterward (or even before) there is a good upmarket farm shop. We got some nice sourdough bread, bread, box of associated coloured tomatoes and some excellent cheese: the Baron Bigod was exceptionally nice.

Modern building and interior rather than typical "olde worlde" style farm shop/cafe. Wasn't sure if there was table service or you order at counter (it's the latter). Friendly service by Lola. Our dishes took a little while to arrive as cooked freshly but the avocado dish would have been better if it was served hot rather than tepid. Coffee good but again could have been hotter. Gets busy with lots of children running around so get there before the mums & kids, unless you are one if these! Shop sells interesting selection of produce but very pricey - as were the cafe items. Not a place I would use regularly due to the cost - hence the rating.

Popped in last Sunday to buy some meat from the meat counter only to find it wasn’t open. Found this very disappointing as it was a weekend and should be the shops busiest time. Once they hadn’t got what I wanted I decided to go somewhere else that may have. Before leaving I fancied a drink so picked up one of the quirky soft drinks and headed to the till. Stood at the till for a couple of minutes looking round and know one came to serve me. Very poor customer service. I left the drink and walked out. Having had this experience I thought that management would like to know about it so I messaged them. Four days later and no response so now happy to share how little they obviously care about customers with TripAdvisor.

45 minutes wait from when I paid until we got food. Staff didn’t seem complacent and didn’t seem to care or have any leadership. Finished our first coffees about 20 minutes before food arrived, paid for 2 more. Our meals arrived 5 minutes apart. Loud, expensive and not worth the wait. A real shame.

I regularly go to the Farm shop cafe. It has a lovely little play area for small children and offers a relaxed environment to enjoy food and drinks. The menu has a good variety of food to chose from and the specials are always very tasty. The coffee is delightful and the staff are very friendly.

For a farm shop I'd like to see more local produce. More organic fresh produce and theres really no excuse to be stocking herbs in plastic from Morrocco and Egypt.

A real treat, the Smallford Farm Shop is an industrial style treasure. Supremely clean, open and flooded with light the cafe has a small but perfectly formed menu. I had an English breakfast - A sausage, two bacon, scrambled egg, mushrooms, a tomato and toast with an Americano coffee - all very nice. Reasonably priced, fast, friendly service and plenty of parking on a Wednesday morning.

This has great potential, however the prices are steep. Produce looks amazing as you walk in. However beyond most peoples budget. Tasty breakfast, served by profesional and friendly staff. Huge car park ,they would need to have a re-think on prices to fill it with customers.

We went on a recommendation and very much liked the range of fresh and packaged foods on offer. My abiding memory is the very high prices for some goods (£9.50 for a packet of porridge oats - really?) . The café was pleasant (apart from silly teapots that spill when poured).

I stopped by today to have a coffee and to browse the farm shop. I was not disappointed. What a great way to start to my day, and the coffee is the best I've had for some time. The staff are so welcoming, especially Claudia and Hannah, great smiles, friendly, and easy to talk too. The fruit and veg in the farm shop is super fresh and displayed perfectly. Overall, a lovely place to go to, i didn't eat here today, but I'm sure i will soon. A massive thanks to the team for a job well done, I'm sure I'll be back soon

Great addition to the area lovely farm shop selling produces which is grown next door. The cafe at the end has some nice tasty things on the menu, they could do with improving the service and I thought the pasta portions were quite large, worth making them smaller and reduce the price. Soup was delicious but you needed more bread.

First-timers today and a thoroughly enjoyable. The place is immaculate - including the parking - and welcoming service. My flat white was superb (and I am hard to please in the FW stakes) and carrot cake well made, not too sweet. My wife's latte and generous tea cake received no complaints - praise indeed. Nice then to wander round the farm shop area - never going to be for your weekly shop but nice to pick up a treat or something different. If you are underwhelmed by Osprey, as we often are, give this place your custom.

I had been meaning to try breakfast at Smallford Farm Shop since it opened. However, I managed to visit just after the new menu had come out and the item I was interested in trying was no-longer available.

This is such a lovely farm shop with great food. However, I was served by two young girls at the cafe who were extremely rude and unprofessional to laugh at myself as a customer for absolutely no reason at all and very immature. Will not be coming back due to the rude and intimidating staff.

This afternoon I visited their cafe with my mum hoping to have a quick hot drink and slice of cake. When we walked in we saw that who I can only assume was the cafe duty manager cashing up the till, with the till on the side with easy access for any guest to grab. Cause of this my mum asked the lovely lady behind the shop checkout what time they closed. She said 5pm. We looked at our watches and the time was 4.40pm. We said to each of there that 20 minutes was more than enough time to have a quick drink and cake. So I went to order a tea and brownie. The young gentleman who was cashing up the till said he could only do it in a takeaway cup. I said that was fine as it was late and they prob did not want to do anymore washing up, even though there was a table of ladies outside and a table inside. I asked if it was ok if I still sat down inside or out which I was told no. I explained to the young gentleman that they don’t close till 5pm. He replied saying that the cafe closes at 4.45pm.I just looked on the website and it said the cafe closes at 5pm. Nowhere does it say that they stop serving 15 minutes before they close. I work in hospitality previously as a manager and now as a waitress and have never turned anyone away cause I want to close early. Poor and rude customer service. First visit and will definitely be our last. Don’t go if you want to have a relaxing time you will get told to leave because they can’t be bothered to wait for you!!! Avoid avoid avoid!!!!!

Perhaps a bit out of the way, certainly for me, but well worth the effort to be there as it has been superbly stocked not just with the usual fresh farm produce, but a great selection of Mediterranean diet goodies often from Italy or Sicily which was heaven for me. Oh and the cafe serves great food and excellent coffee!

I took my Mum a couple of weeks ago for lunch. Extremely slow service for 2 paninis and 2 coffees. Had to chase up our order after 30 minutes and then had to ask for cutlery ! . Lots of staff milling around, but not doing much to be honest. No atmosphere. A shame, I was looking forward to this opening but won't go back.

This is a cafe inside of a Sainsbury's (stevenage branch) , today they aren't selling toasties because they have "run out of cheese". I guess nobody can be bothered to walk over to the cheese aisle? Ridiculous to run out of ingriedients when they're inside a supermarket.

We ordered pizza delivery from here on a Monday and it took 45 minutes for 3 pizza to arrive and when they did it was cold. We live less and mile away, won’t be using again as this is the second time we had a bad experience with Wheathampstead nonnos

This is a very nice pizza restaurant, it's small but that adds to it's charm and watching the pizza cooking in the huge stone bake oven.... mesmerising. The staff are very friendly and attentive, they are the best local pizza place, period. Also, they are now doing a buy one, get one free offer on a Monday......
