Went into Small Batch, Hove Station at 4.20 pm yesterday. I ordered a coffee as a dine-in customer. Was told that I would have to use a take away cup as they would be closing soon. I left but not before telling the cashier that I would have drunk my coffee within 10 minutes. Small Batch website indicates that they close at 5.00 pm. BTW there were no other customers. Anyway, I went down the road and gave another coffee shop my business.

Sadly, I got a terrible experience with this cafe. I bought a re-usable mug, and when I used it, the flavour was plastic. I tried twice more and the plastic flavour continued. I gently tried to get a refund, explaining the bad quality/problem of the product, and the answer was "no". They offered me to get six cards to get six coffes (I am a tourist and I came to Brighton for this week, therefore, it is not an option) or beans of coffee (I defintely don't have a coffe maker). I left the mug there and I only lost £9.50...

I popped in for a takeaway coffee, after waiting at the counter i was finally served after the member of staff had finished chatting to his colleague about his evening out! I ordered a latte and waited at the end of the counter the stench coming from the entrance of the toilets wafting up the stairs was horrendous, the coffee didn't taste much better either, shame as the place looks nice. much better coffee & service available in the same area won't be going back.

We pop into this place when we walk back from Hove to Brighton. We sat outside and had a delicious iced americano with a little milk. It was very refreshing. This cafe is very friendly, we always find someone to talk to.

Worst coffee I've had in a very long time, the coffee its self was burt, or the machine was not cleaned properly, got the first one replaced thinking it was a one off but sadly not, same result on second and i didn't drink it.

Popped in here for a brief coffee stop on the way to work. Got distracted by a massive St Bernard and spilled my deliciously made coffee all over the place. Was given an equally perfect replacement free of charge. Staff lovely and engaging. If I wasn't on a strict diet I'd absolutely smash every single pastry on display!!! Top job and I will be returning.

Sunday morning hoping for quick coffee and pastry. Despite a notice telling us to wear a mask the staff were unmasked. The batista was acting like a clown, laughing a joking with a friend, coffee too ages to arrive. We will not be returning

Me and my friend came here for a full English, and it was awful. Everything was way, way over done and had no taste. The photo speaks for itself!

Went for a coffee and some breakfast, turns out this branch didn't have a kitchen. We had a couple coffees and some banana bread. The coffee was good, but not great. Banana bread was excellent.

Been coming here religiously but honestly the two new staff members are: Inattentive, foul mouthed and sloppy in everything except their overly nonchalant attitude No care about the coffee, no care about the service and honestly if I go in with a child and they use the language they use? I’ll jump the counter and cause a scene. Unacceptable and another new Flour Pot customer here

Picture the scene. A quick gym session whilst on a lunchbreak, to go for a post gym coffee at Small batch and to catch up on some work emails. All seems normal, neat & tucked in, but wait!!..... Just as im replying to my first work email on, a sheepish looking staff member who to be fair is an affable chap says verbatim 'im so sorry, the new owners have banned laptops!!!!' I said excuse me... 'he says the new owners banned laptops to promote the sense of community' I almost fell off my chair. To be clear, the side room of Hove Small batch was set up for being a work & coffee space, the room at the time (Thursday sunny afternoon) had one other person in it & I was told I couldn't use my laptop in a room made for a works space because the new owners banned laptops. You couldn't make it up. To be also clear, it sounds an honorable idea, by all means set aside areas for chat and discourse but to out right say i had to put away my laptop is madness. I quickly drank the coffee and found a place up the road that let you use a laptop. To quote a famous Idles lyric the place is now 'A tryhard who should've tried harder' Good luck to the new owners because with policy like that they will need it!

Used to be great coffee. Expensive but I would sometimes treat myself as it was so good. Saying that, I’ve just had two cups of coffee which were average to be honest. Not impressed.

Coffee used to be great - I would always look for a SmallBatch - but it has changed hands a few times recently and it’s not what it was. Now part of the People’s Republic of Coffee Drinker .... or something like that - a complicated name. Coffee more expensive now than elsewhere. You need to go in rather than be served through hatch/window which is not good in COVID times. So there are overall better coffee places now.

While we're deep into lockdown, one of the biggest factors of everyday life I've missed is being able to sit in Small batch and do my work. Happy and friendly staff, great coffee, good atmosphere and good wifi. Can't wait for oyu guys to reopen and get back to (hopefully) normality.

I love this Small Batch! Friendliest coffee shop in Hove. Lisa and her staff are always so friendly and helpful and ultra accommodating to both me and my toddler. Very grateful it is at the bottom of my street :-) Amazing coffee and good and perfect place to sit outside and watch the world go by

I love Small Batch, I go to the Seven Dials one nearly every day - I love the ambience, the coffee and I particularly love their taste music.The last few times I've been to the Wilbury Road one I have experienced staff who start clearing up about an hour before closing time, stacking chairs, sweeping up around my table and now using a vacuum cleaner. I understand the cafe has to be cleaned but not whilst its still open to customers. Why not have a 5pm rather than a 6pm closing time? Its an unrelaxing experience especially as at least one member of staff sings (and talks) loudly... Yes!!

I’m not usually one for writing reviews however I felt these two lovely young ladies deserve a shoutout. No matter what time of day I go into the shop I’m always greeted with a smile and a warm welcome even at 6.30am. No matter how big or small a business is it should be built around human capital and I couldn’t give a better example of two people to build around. Well done team small batch keep smiling

I have been to most of the small batch coffee shops in Sussex and I have to see this one is one of my favourites. Very friendly staff! Lovely location and layout and highly recommend the Masala Chai

I love this place! Lisa, the manager, is not so much a manager and more the perfect host. Great quality pastries every day the Cortado coffees are to die for.Reading the low rated reviews is like pure fan fiction - dirty spoon? Ask any of the staff and they’ll give you another one! Untidy table? Just give the staff a nod and they’ll tidy it up! Geez! Quite typical of a miserable Brit to sit in silence knocking out a poor review over a piece of cutlery!Get down here and get a decent brew and some nosh in you. It’s lovely x

Best coffee shop in Hove beyond a doubt. Lisa and her wonderful staff are friendly and welcoming. Batch brew is delicious and breakfast pastries are a must! A true haunt for locals, with no pretentious nonsense.

The staff were really friendly and when I couldn’t decide which coffee to have gave me some advice! The staff gave me a coffee that was going to waste for free! It was hot and I really enjoyed it and the whole experience made my day!!

Have come to this place a few times now. Coffee always great, service always with a smile. Choice of lovely outside terrace or attractive, comfortable inside. What more could you want? Definitely found a new regular spot. Thanks all.

I visited Small batch Wilbury on my way in to pride both Saturday and Sunday this place has such lovely staff who create such an awesome vibe. All staff are very knowledgeable about all there products and they have a great range of snacks, cakes and light bites. I will definitely be making this a regular haunt.

I know it is a cafe, but I believe standards are standards. Staff are not friendly, dirty tables, I had to clear up the table where we sat, we were waiting so long for our order to arrive (3 other people has been served who actually arrived way after us) And finally dirty teacups, dirty teaspoons and dirty teapot. This lovely experience cost just over £5 If there was a possibility to give 0 stars I would. We won't return, ever!

Love this place, friendly and fast paced but when you sit in rather than take out there is a quiet buzz as background noise. THE Banana Loaf is something else.

This is a great coffee shop, the staff are excellent and always accommodate even my super fussy requests! Its so nice to get my morning coffee from happy and friendly faces who are always willing to chat and pass the time of day with you. The shop is always clean and tidy and the coffee is the best around.

Further to a former review that I gave I have to let it be known that Small Batch is a superior brew and the prices (although not cheap) are not as high as their competitors.

We wanted a coffee before wandering along the beach for a walk. Although busy we were able to find a seat and relax.

Popped in with a friend for flat whites and we both had a sausage roll. Coffee was delicious and sausage roll was warmed up. Staff friendly and efficient.

I don't come here very often, but the coffee has always been fine. This time I tried the decaf, which was excellent. The decaf flat white tasted even better than regular one I had just before it. It was so goodI bought some beans to take home, from the lovely and helpful lady.

Love the coffee here. Have visited a few times in the week and have sampled a variety - all good ! Easy to access WiFi and decent sized tables to work on. The deck terrace is perfect when the weather is good !

So easy to just sit and have an excellent coffee and waste half an hour. Dog friendly, and a very cohesive team of barista staff. I wish they had a greater variety of cakes but the coffee and atmosphere makes this a reliable favourite any time. There is no typical customer. All ages and 'types' clearly welcome and it shows in the atmosphere.

Often go here for coffee and the occasional roll or cake. The staff aren't that responsive or courteous. I wouldn't say it's unfriendly but the service a little lacking. I found the coffee ok but I can't see how this small chain are raved about? Daytime place for a quick coffee but wouldn't go out of my way.

This is a small specialist coffee shop. They also serve a limited range of cakes and sandwiches. Everything I've had there was delicious - but it's not cheap.

I first came here maybe 10 years ago when there was no competition and happened to pass here yesterday and popped in for a filter, a flat white and some beans. The coffee is fantastic quality and very strong and flavoursome plus it is very carefully crafted. They have a large selection of roasted beans too which they will grind for you.

This place simply does the best coffee. Better than Nero, Costa or Starbucks. Carefully chosen beans by people who seem to really care. Great place

This branch is small but a good atmosphere and a nice outdoor area. The coffee is always good but expensive and there's always a nice range of cakes and pastries.

As a regular customer of Small Batch, it's really disappointing to visit a new branch to find it below standard. I ordered a cortado and got a latte - which they call a cortado anyway. All the other branches get it right. How does a coffee shop get coffee wrong?

Small Batch must be be one of the best coffee shops in the area. The coffee is always good and the Danish pastries delicious. One of my favourite coffee houses.

They charge extra for non dairy milk which is outrageous. They are making a big profit on coffee as it is and then they go and rip you off again if you are vegan or lactose intolerant or just don't want cows milk. They say it is to cover the additional cost but I have asked them many times to provide me with the info on how much the non dairy milk costs them per litre and they won't tell me. Why? Because they are ripping customers off. Their coffee is also so overrated and the coffee 'art' hit and miss. There are many good independent coffee shops that sell better coffee and don't charge extra for non dairy milk as they value their customers.

Great place, the coffee is delicious and the staff are welcoming - a good place to get abit of work done.

Stopped off in Wilbury branch for a cappuccino between jobs and my order was taken by a dark haired girl with glasses whose attitude was curt to say the least and really didn't seem that happy to be there, at least she has a job, make the most of it luv because they pay you to serve customers, and the cappuccino was more of a flat white with a pretty pattern on the top, this is not the first time I've had a cappuccino served this way from Small Batch, unless a third foam is not the way to do it anymore, a dissapointed visit.

I always have had a decent view of Small Batch as a whole.

Ive been going to small batch since moving to Hove.

I actually go out of my way for a fix of Small Batch coffee and an Almond Croissant. The recent addition of a healthy turmeric late has also provided an added incentive for a visit. Always busy and never disappointed. Hit chocolate also amazing!

A lovely little coffee shop, great tasting coffee & can recommend the spiced chick pea & veg sausage roll. A busy, thriving friendly business & it was lovely to go somewhere different from the large branded coffee shops. Will definitely be returning & can recommend.

It's Hove, it's sunny, and I need a brew! Small batch coffee is delicious. The setting is unfussy, relaxed and calm. Staff friendly and measured. Seating a little cramped but somehow it works. For a top cup of coffee look no further. Simple but tasty.

I have been here a couple of times and the coffee i always amazing, but there is literally just one member of staff that has been rude and extremely blunt the both time i have visited here. I believe her name is Alison (that could be wrong) but she is the slightly older lady with glasses and fair hair. She has actually been so unpleasant and unwilling to help that I have felt the need to actually write this review. It's also on the pricey side, but is still my favourite coffee to drink.

Gorgeous local coffeehouse in Hove. Friendly, lovely staff who seem genuinely glad to work there. They are professional and give exceptional service without being ott. The food is simple and gorgeous - a bit more than I normally like to pay, but it's a nice treat now and again. Coffee is amazing, they really know their stuff and are good at recommending different flavours and types. Small Batch are becoming another treasure of Brighton & Hove.

Just like a chain/franchise - longer waiting times, more expensive and basically just lukewarm milk with some tap water and a few coffee granules. I'm not a fan of old batch

Service seems friendly enough but I ordered and paid for (including an extra 30p card charge) for a hot chocolate not a luke warm chocolate like I just downed

Excellent place for great coffee and food. I had a quick stop for just that and loved it. Nothing wrong with the big-boys but this is more authentic by a mile.

As somebody who lives off coffee for work and I socilaise over a cuppa as opposed to a pint I can confidently say that I know my coffee!

Small batch coffee are a small but growing coffee company in Brighton and Hove, that supplies their own ground coffee. The coffee shop near Hove Station is usually busy but very efficiently run with excellent coffee's to suit all tastes.

Ordered 2 flat whites, took almost 20 mins to deliver them to the table outside, even then they were served cold,seperately and minutes apart. The shop wasnt that busy either and the staff looked they really didnt care.

Great coffee and sweet treats, one of my Brighton favorites. Lovely outside seating area for those all too few lovely days.

The Small Batch Coffee Company is one of Brighton's success stories. I'm not entirely sure why this is, but Brighton seems to have its fair share of really good independent coffee shops and Small Batch are probably the best amongst them. So much so, that they now have 4 branches across the city - including the station.

Much better than the big chains. I would recommend their Caffe Latte and Cappuccino. Support local businesses.

Delicious coffee, lovely setting. We visited Brighton for a few days and this quickly became our favourite place for coffee.

Delicious coffee - definitely the best I've had in a while and will be returning. If in Brighton/Hove would recommend visiting one of their shops or stalls. Really pleasant staff also. What a delight!

I buy coffees from all SB locations, the best for me is from the stand nr Hove station, Aaron makes the best tasting coffee, really rich and full of flavour and texture and he's a real sweetheart. I'm new to coffee, only started drinking it a couple of years ago but the burnt watery junk proffered as coffee from the High St chains is vile, I'm a quick learner! SB coffee always tastes great and they'll make it however you want. Sometimes the Q is crazy but it's worth it. I haven't tried the food but it's brought in, not made on premises so ...... can't really say much about that. We did take our own cake into one and they gave us plates and knives as opposed to throwing us out or saying 'own cake denial'! Try their coffee, you won't be disappointed.

Have been here numerous times, the coffee really is exceptional. Worth making a special journey for. Decor is lovely and has outside seating if you're not in a rush.

Words cannot describe how good the espresso is at Small Batch Wilbury. Been coming there for years, constant high quality, very, very nice staff. (And they look like rockstars too!)

Great coffee and nice outdoor seating area, in a good location but the staff are a bit smug, which spoils it. The Small Batch on Western Road, by Norfolk Square is much better - at that branch there is a lot more room, and the staff are really lovely - very friendly, warm bunch. The girl who served us at the Wilbury Road branch was so smug we probably won't go back.

The coffee is amazing... They never burn the milk and take great care when making your drink. Be prepared to wait for your drink, but that's the price you pay for perfection.

Superb selection of coffee (you can buy it buy the bag there also, freshly ground). They have a great selection of tasty savoury and sweet treats...the salted caramel chocolate tart is amazing!

I love Small Batch Coffee - it's one of the better chains in Brighton - but their cafes tend to be totally oversubscribed, in tiny spaces (considering their popularity) and service at all locations is painfully slow.

Very good quality coffee and properly made coffees. Highly recommend any small batch in Brighton/Hove. Visit on a weekly basis if possible and usually get takeaway. Staff all very friendly and make a superb flatwhite.

There is one thing Brighton and Hove isn't short of and that's coffee shops. This isn't my local but we are fans of the jubilee street small batch so thought we would pop in whilst in Hove. The snacks were lovely, the coffee was unsurprisingly great. The service is however what is making me write this review- it was the sort of service that makes you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. It was friendly, welcoming, not pushy and just lovely.

I'm a big fan of Small Batch but this is one of my favourite locations as its relaxed and friendly with a nice outside space (just a shame its a bit in the shade!) Staff are friendly, coffee is really good with a selection to suit all tastes, and nice food. Just wish there were more savoury small snack or breakfast options for veggies.
