Disappointed Booked a table for dinner with friends for 7.30pm on Saturday night - as my booking was confirmed I wrongly assumed we would be able to sit down & catch up. However, I could not be more wrong - we were given a table downstairs considering they book tables for dinner the music was really loud & we could not hear each other speak. Food was OK but I have to say the staff both behind the bar & on the floor were rude - you really need to work on your customer care

Hi. Visited Slug and Lettuce friar St Reading to check out this new bar/restaurant. Unfortunately from the start it didn’t go well. Not sure if it’s a case of poor management? Or just poor training? One.. If you have a reservation for a table? How about you put signs on the said table.. Two.. if the table becomes taken by another party. Could the staff ( Laura apparently) be a little less rude and dramatic in dealing with customers who turn up to a table that doesn’t show reservations on it?? BOTH parties are your CUSTOMERS?? Approaching us while we tried to find menus and making accusations of individuals in our party of being aggressive as a menu landed on a table from a stood up position is incredibly exaggerated behaviour? Further concerns regarding the menus are, they are filthy - sticky ! We decided to stay despite the unfriendly welcome to this new outlet. But wouldn’t recommend this place based on our customer service experience here. This unfriendly member of the team seemed to think going up to other members of the bar staff team and making exaggerated imitations of slamming menus on the bar was suitable behaviour ? A bar team that were significantly younger than herself? Some team leader we have here???( she claimed to be the bar manager) My advice is get on a managerial training course and customer service training course would be beneficial also? Incredible behaviour. I will say the young team who served us were great though. Few words of advice. 1- Train bar management key customer service skills and staff management/ team motivation skills. 2-Put reservations on the tables 3-Put signage in this outlet for the toilets etc. 4- Clean tables and MENU’s ! Hopefully these are new outlet issues, but the service here is poor. And can’t recommend this outlet.

Raw sausages, bacon and eggs not allowed into venue in case you eat them while ordering your drink! I kid you not! They don’t allow raw food into the pub. Talk about rules making no logically sense. Apparently it’s also the case at Walkabout next door too. Whether this is an issue with the security company they have a contract with, or whether it’s an issue with the venues themselves … who knows.

We ordered the food on the app which was okay. But when we received our food the starters and main came out together. The lady asked if we ordered the starter on the app at the same time and we said yes. She indicated That was why. I can’t imagine people will place 1 order for a starter pay and then place another after and pay. Common sense obviously is not on their menu. The food was nice and the cocktail was okay. Even though I had to ask to get the shot of Prosecco on the side for my cocktail otherwise they would not of given it to me. So not very impressed with the venue.

This has replaced Yeats’s which is a result. It’s had a major facelift which is a joy to behold. Very impressive. I would like to make a personal commendation to a young lady who works there (used to work on the Riverside) Her name is Laura and she has always been very kind to me whenever I have been there. That lady deserves a gold medal and a huge pay rise/promotion!
