We were exploring Cromarty on our holiday and were delighted to find your coffee shop by chance We loved your setting, decor and vibe and enjoyed our coffee So why 4 and not 5 stars? As we arrived close to your closing time 255pm we were unable to enjoy our coffee in a real mug and were charged 40p on each drink for the disposable cup it was served in, Just didn’t fit in with the current environmental ethos or do justice to your coffee I would definitely recommend people to seek out your place…. just make sure you arrive earlier to enjoy the full experience

Great location scenically Coffee and cakes okay in an artisan way The one Scottish staff member we encountered was a bit surly with us which bugged me and kind of marred this Cromarty fabled coffee experience Guess it's personal taste here and place is obviously very popular Great upcycled decor and really liked the creative use of old industrial materials to create seating

Second visit to Cromarty. Sadly last year the timing was wrong and the spot was closed. Absolute paradise for those birders out there and with a bit of luck you may see porpoise. The coffee house is a hidden gem and if you think you won't be impressed (don't be put of by external appearances) think again (see photos). Totally original with fantastic coffee (shout out to Vandyke Brothers Coffee) who carry out the roasting next door!. Can't really get better from roasting straight to cup. What's not to like. Big thanks to Laura who works like a trojan and manages the whole lot by herself. No mean feat. Cromarty itself has to be on anyone's must visit list but this coffee venue provides the cherry on a beautiful cake. Oh and by the way did I mention there is scrummy cakes to boot ! All in all heavenly.

I’d heard so much about this tiny wee place from folk all around the black isle and inverness, and was lucky enough to have sampled their house blend at home (they do take away beans) before finally making it out for a visit. I challenge you to find a better coffee elsewhere in the highlands...my guess is you won’t manage! Quirky set up with mostly outdoor seating looking across the firth to Nigg. Obviously very popular with the locals and for good reason! My wife had a decaf mocha and my wee boy devoured homemade banana bread with a big bottle of chilled water. We stayed at Taigh Ailean for our trip to Skye. We also had the opportunity to eat dinner there (Breakfast was included with our stay.) The dinner was so delicious! The view is lovely as you can see the loch from the windows of the bar. All the staff is fantastic and so friendly! I had a great dinner and I would describe it, but the menu changes to suit what is in season and available from the sea. Whatever you get, I guarantee it will be the best! Make sure you call ahead and get a reservation as it fills up quickly. I know that they also have live music, which would be great, but we didn't have any while we were there.

Agree with the other reviews. This is an unlikely place to find at the end of the world. We felt welcomed and in the main enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the cost for the 2 of us. £200 for a snack, breakfast, plate of curry and a bunkhouse bed with no shower and a outside toilet seemed breathtaking expensive. To put this into perspective, we go to a nice hotel each year for a winter break, that's more than we pay per day at the hotel with vastly more civilized amenities. I do understand there are logistics involved at Cape wrath. However for an 'ordinary' local Scottish person I'd be looking to stay at sandwood bay and make a lunch trip to the cafe as I simply can't justify the cost/value. However, it is altogether improbably situated and a must experience if you are doing a long walk. Just be prepae your expectations.

Your restaurant came highly recommended and the food and wine was absolutely superb. Unfortunately this is where the great experience ended as we have never been made to feel so uncomfortable in a restaurant by the people serving us, to the point that we couldn't wait to pay the bill and leave! We were the first table in the evening at 5pm and were seated right by the bar but we struggled to get eye contact with the staff who were either chatting behind the bar or staring into space. At no point did they ask us if everything was ok or if we wanted another drink. We tried to engage them in some chatter when they served us but to no avail. I don't know if in someway we offended them but we really could not work out what we had done wrong to be treated this way. Unfortunately we will not be returning, which is a shame as the food is excellent. Fortunately our evening was not completely spoiled as a visit to the local community centre in Nairn found us invited to a Ceilidh and a very warm welcome and fun evening.
