Skylark in Eastbourne

Went here for a bit of breakfast. We were welcomed with friendly staff. The food was delicious, clean facilities and lots of choice of food and drink on the menu at reasonable prices. They have gluten-free options, too! Will definitely be visiting again.

Perfect place for brunch - classy simple interior, perfectly cooked food, good coffee and friendly, professional service. We went before popping next door to Hampsons for an afternoon of beauty treatments… it was the perfect “preamble”. The whole day was Eastbourne at its best!

Lunch menu on bank holiday Monday was a bit sparse so ordered off the brunch menu. Wife had eggs Royale and I plumped for the stack of three pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Plenty of Salmon with the eggs Royale and the pancakes were nice. Just disappointed that the lunch menu was so poor.

We have always enjoyed the ambience, service and menu choice a Skylark. Our visit this time left us disappointed. The cafe was busy and the tables seemed very crammed together, and it was very noisy. We thought the menu was more limited but opted for one roast, two full English breakfasts and an Eggs Benedict. The roast was piled onto the plate so not very appetising, the poached eggs on the Eggs Benedict were hard and cold, toast wasn’t toasted so had to be sent back and the bubble and squeak was soggy. The full English breakfasts eggs were over cooked and the food was luke warm. I’m not sure what’s happened to change things at Skylark but we wouldn’t rush back.

We were in Eastbourne for an overnight stay and wanted to eat somewhere with an informal atmosphere but excellent food and Skylark fitted the bill nicely. The mackerel pate starter was particularly delicious and the scallops were also very tasty. We enjoyed our main courses (Dover sole and vegan "Wellington") but sadly the rhubarb dessert we wanted had run out. When we got our bill the cost of the tea and coffee we had in lieu of dessert had been deducted, which was a nice gesture.

Nice decor, really good home cooked food which is well presented and welcoming staff. Will definitely come back next time am down in Eastbourne!

We stumbled across this gem and we are so glad we did. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The restaurant itself was pretty and cosy, the menu had a great selection and options for different dietary requirements. We ordered the pancakes and eggs on avocado and when I say the pancakes were like heaven they really were, even felt the need to let the chef know! Would definitely visit again.

Tried Skylark for the very first time today. Absolutely cracking full English breakfast. All of it tasted great, especially the sausage and black pudding. Really friendly staff and great atmosphere. Maybe my only slight gripe would be the high prices, especially for coffees. Flat white very small and £3.40! Having said that, will be back for sure. Lovely place.

I enjoyed an absolutely delicious vegetarian Sunday roast with my family last Sunday. The mushroom wellington was one of the best I have had. Would definitely like to come again next time I am visiting Eastbourne!

Absolutely fantastic lunch. Treated so well, having work in service industry previously, the attentiveness of staff was excellent. Loved the roast chicken lunch and my pudding. Had a really nice bottle of Chardonnay. Thumbs up for the excellent staff, will b back

A small restaurant with a nice and calm atmosphere. Friendly owner/staff and an well thought out menu. I had a vegetarian dish with cauliflower, chard and spinach. It came like a little artwork, nicely done and mixed with herbs, tomato and other veggies. All together one of the best places I could find in Eastbourne.

Another delicious meal from this lovely restaurant in an old part of Eastbourne. Food was delicious, service excellent and the environment was just right. Not too noisy and not lacking in atmosphere either. Produce seemed to be local and fresh. Well recommended

Wow…. Had the ‘At home’ option for my wife Sunday roast… 10/10 she throughly enjoyed the meal. Presented really lovely. Separate gravy and Yorkshire pudding… Like going home to your Mum’s Sunday lunch. Well done to all. Very friendly staff too. Will be in the restaurant soon. Excellent value for money.

Wonderful little cafe in the centre of town which serves excellent food. We went as a family on a Saturday (there were 5 of us and we did pre book). The kids had pancakes with fruit compote and we had some great eggs Benedict and also smoked haddock pie. They serve fantastic cocktails and the coffee is also very good.

We had a lovely roast dinner here on Sunday. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was the best I've ever had. The service was very good without being obstructive.

We had a delicious Sunday lunch (its always delicious so not surprised!) Staff are always so lovely, they hover perfectly, not too much and not too little. Food was yummy, tasty and filling. We all loved our roasts and desserts. Thank you to Erina and Craig to what is always a lovely treat with you.

Eastbourne time to fly high in the sky with lark! Locally sourced, locally proud and locally revered, this establishment certainly has a buzz bringing all the bees! I was there for 84 minutes and all the tables were gobbled up. The brunch was a revelation compared to many places in London. The pancakes with apple and butterscotch comb certainly ensured a state of eudaimonia. The halloumi was bloomy crispy and rich nestled on crunchy bread. The staff are encouraging and pleasant. Overall, an indulging experience to enrich your Sunday, would be back soon if not for the commute!

Fantastic birthday lunch today. The food at the Skylark is always delicious. We chose from the Christmas menu - the nut roast and eggnog creme brulee were so good! Thanks to the lovely, friendly staff for making it a special occasion.

Very friendly staff, good service. Food good and generous portions. Would recommend. Only criticism was that , other than if I chose ice cream as a desert, all the deserts had nuts in them. Not good for those who are allergic or can’t eat them.

A Warm, friendly greeting and a delicious Sussex Smokie. My friends butternut squash salad looked as good as it tasted. We had chilean sauvignon blanc which was very nice. A very pleasing lunchtime.

Lovely and delicious Food- the Steak sandwich was amazing, just Like the pudding afterwards😊 the Service personnel was friendly and welcoming. The interiour is cosy and invites you to enjoy a calm afternoon (or whichever Part of the day you might come over😂)

Consistently good no matter what day or time You go or what you eat . Had the most delicious fish dish today but normally my go to for brunch 😋 . Don’t forget also on a warmer day they have a gorgeous garden to sit in and fab cocktails too !

Steak was served with too much gristle. Large portions, but not amazing flavours, rather bright, stark decor. Decent service.

I expect its very popular, but the food and service were a bit bland on our visit. I'd have preferred to be asked how i Iike my eggs on the fry up. Over easy. The wife had the avo and eggs and it was definitely stingy on the avo. Daughter had pancakes and syrup, but was it maple?? All in all a bit short of satisfactory.

I come down to Eastbourne to see my parents and we usually end up here and It's easy to see why; the staff are super friendly and the food delicious. The fish 'n' fizz on Friday is awesome!

Lovely evening. Good food, good choice of wine by the glass and very nice atmosphere. My only negative was that the specials had sold out by 8.30 pm, so go early if you want something from the specials board.

We were warmly welcomed and had a quiet table as requested. Fish sharing platter was just delicious. artichoke starter on sour dough bread was fine felt the bread just too hard to cut into , would have preferred a salad rather than bread. Only spotted...

Fabulous food,great service,lovely atmosphere. Shared a seafood platter as starter...was very good..then the mains..i had steak and my wife had skate..both dishes superb. Wine list was also comprehensive and reasonable. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Can't fault this lovely restaurant. Excellent food, super service, no feeling of being rushed. Yes its on the pricey side but you get what you pay for and you get excellent quality food, with some locally sourced items, including wines. Would highly recommend, its not formal or stuffy but you feel like you've been looked after. The cocktail menu is fab! Would definitely recommend and will definitely be visiting again soon.

Food was very good, fresh and well cooked with a good range to choose from. Water for the table came with lots of ice and was replenished freely. Service was friendly and attentive and we felt under no pressure to rush or leave.
