We were travelling and called in here for breakfast and were allowed to take our dog in with us The staff were friendly and the loos were clean and we were able to park in the car park. Staff were super friendly. We enjoyed eggs Benedict and coffee which was quickly produced and good quality.

Visited here 2 nights in a row as the pizzas were sooooooo good! Fresh chips, FRESHLY made dough generous portions and a great price. Lots for Vegan and Gluten Free options (Including the bases which are bought in which is Totally understandable due to cross contamination ) They tasted delicious too!! Well done! Quick clean friendly service. And very accommodating to our dietary requirements!!! When we went the second night rather than waiting the 10 mins or so to cook it with tired kids in the car! they happily delivered it to our home, If you’d like fresh cooked pizza. Friendly quick service please give these guys a go!!’ Well done!! Highly recommend

On arriving there were a few people waiting. We placed our order and no mention was made of the fact that there would be a very long wait! The staff were fractious and arguing. They seemed to be either prioritising delivery orders, or growing their own potatoes. There were disgruntled customers waiting outside and more queuing but being ignored. After a HALF hour wait I intercepted my order and asked for salt and vinegar, to be told by the girl behind the counter that, “ I would have to do it myself as she was far too busy!” She then proceeded to watch me add salt and vinegar and then took the bags of chips off me to place in a carrier bag. Inefficient doesn’t come close! As I left I heard her mutter something loudly. I went back inside to ask her what she said, to which she replied, “a thank you would have been nice!”’I replied that she needed to get the service sorted out. If she spent half as much time working on her customer service as she does plastering on her makeup and sticking in her eyelashes they would get a better review! Don’t waste your time, (and believe me it will be a long time), or your money. There are much better chippies locally..who appreciate your custom.

Great hospitality, hand cut chips, fabulous food. I highly recommended it. Hidden just around the corner from the train station. You won’t regret it

I have slated this place on here before and they did go through a rough phase. Being local I’ve wanted to support them. They have got it together now. Some good staff who know their stuff. Lots of menu options. Doesn’t take too long even though cooked from fresh. It’s worth the visit.

All cooked fresh to order, only a 3-5 minute wait. Good value and good size portion. Tasted just like fish and chips....

This was a good fish and chip shop once but it has sadly gone down hill, the last time (and would be the last) the food was cold and greasy and had to wait 20 minutes even though they were not busy. Avoid!

Appalling food, poor decor and just in general a terrible experience. Never come here, chips were awful and cod tasted like a**hole.

I rang up 10 minutes ago to place an order and was told quite abruptly to call back in 10 minutes as they were busy ?! After saying I would go else where I was told fine. Clearly don’t need the business ??

Spent £50, everything but that pizzas was inedible and they even got the toppings wrong. First and last time.

I visited today to get a meal for the family. The chips where good and everyone was satisfied with there food. After reading the reviews on here I didn't expect much but I was pleasantly inpressed and they do gluten free. Very reasonably priced, staff where friendly and I will visit again. Overall cannot say a bad word about this little chippy.

I have had fish and chips here about 6 times over the last 6 months. They have always been well cooked and tasty. The kids have the chicken nuggets which are chicken Brest meat and plentiful. The medium cod portion is of good size and firm, tasty cod. One large chips is easily big enough for a family of three so be careful not to over order!

Having lived in the are for a few years now, I remember the old chip shop, skippers, which we always avoided. All I can say is what a difference, chips really fresh, good value for money, very good range, including gluten free.

I visited this establishment on a Friday lunchtime at around 13:45 and bought a medium chips. I was home in just under 10 minutes and found that my chips were stone cold. Knowing that I couldn't make it back in time to get some chips that were actually hot before the shop closed at 14:00, I tried to phone the number advertised on this page to voice my displeasure. Either this number doesn't work or, more than likely, the gentleman who was working was more interested in getting home early than answering the phone. This is the second time now that the same gentleman has served me an order that is not up to standard, the first time being a woefully small portion of chips that was advertised as a large. I will be going the extra distance to Wareham for my fish and chips in the future, as should anyone else who likes their food hot.

I kid you not, the worst fish and chips you will ever have. I pass this place my way home from work and have bought fish and chips etc. 5 or 6 times. Every time has been truly awful but I have given them the benefit of the doubt in the hope that they would improve but also no and I have now stopped here for the last time.

Went out with the family for a day out at Durdle Door and searched Google for Fish and chips. Found Skippers had good reviews on Google reviews and gave it a try.

Driving through Wool and we thought we would stop for some fish and chips. Big mistake! It was aweful! The grease was unbarable, it actually made us ill! The chips were in the chip box way to long. The staff were unfriendly, my biggest concern was when the "Frier" picked money off the floor then opened up a bag for chips with the same hand! I question there 5* health and hygiene rating! Please do not go!

Since this place was taken over I had high hopes but just in a few weeks all has fallen and worse than before!!! The first week of new ownership the oil was changed the portions were good and I really thought that this place has turned around but how wrong was I. Everytime I went back it got worse. Tonight I tried their takeaway service not only did they forget half the order but (which the gentleman came back with full order an hour after) the chips and fish were so so oily like they'd been left in dirty fat for ages then served up thinking we'd be stupid enough to eat them!! I'm not being funny but are these people that blind or crazy to run a business like this. Surely they must know that people won't come back meaning less money meaning shut down. Even so this to me is just lack of understanding and damn right dirty and disgusting to serve people crap like that and expect money for it!!! Well being a local I will not be back and I will spread the word as you royally peed me and my family off with the slop that was served!!!

This chip shop has never been good so after finding it was under new ownership thought we would try it again, sadly it's still awful fish full of bones and a brown globular substance that was pretending to be curry sauce. They did give us a free bottle of coke because of the extremely long wait but that wasn't really any compensation for the terrible food.

We had just arrived in Wool on holiday and were looking to a quick easy meal. We saw this fish & chip shop and decided to go in.We ordered large cod, plaice and chips and others in our party ordered a kids fish and chips and a fish butty. Now unfortunately they had no idea what a fish butty so ended up with a fish and teacake so that's OK. But after we had all heard 'kids fish and chips' and we ended up with a repulsive looking breaded fishcake it was very poor. On taking it back the owner said well you must have ordered it. Why would we do that when the child doesn't even like fishcakes.The fish was nice but the batter was awful and we are experts as Yorkshire fish and chips rule.Poor experience with rude surly service and expensive.

This is the third time we have ordered from here. The last two times the food was not great but thought we would give it another go as it had recently changed ownership and we thought it maybe down to teething problems.We placed a telephone order and the majority of what we asked for was not available. The young girl taking orders was friendly but clueless. The chips were very greasy and not nice at all. In fact it was mostly inedible and we threw a large amount away. Definitely won't be going again.

Only moved to Wool a few weeks back and this was my first visit to Skippers. Now as a veggie I wasn't expecting much, chip shops are a bit of a mixed bag for non-fish eaters, but have to say these were probably the best chips I have had from a chippy....ever. The pea fritters were ok, but not much other choice. It would have been nice to see, say fired mushrooms, or cheese and onion fritters, even a cheese pasty, but Im being picky as the fish that was being served looked well cooked and in very crispy batter. Service was a bit slow but that reflected the fact that everything was cooked to order and portions were LARGE.They have a delivery service but a new driver was causing chaos as could be gathered from etc many frantic phone calls to and from him as he was lost out on a delivery. I hope he managed to find his was back eventually.Will use again, but it would be nice to see a few more veggie options.

Decided to get fish and chips as had relatives down for Easter. Hadn't been there for a while so didn't realise there was new owners. Due to the time of day and holiday time we had a long wait which we didn't mind as got chatting to the new owner. impressed to find out they did a free local delivery service and with no minimum cost, aimed at helping our more senior residents. Good on them for that. The chips were okay but the batter on the fish wasn't crispy and it reminded us of frozen portions that you cook in the oven. The following week we decided to order again making use of the delivery service. This time the fish looked and tasted beautiful but the chips were the worst we'd ever had. Some were inedible and hard almost like they had been sitting under a hot plate for ages. So if we had had the first weeks chips with the second weeks fish I would have been giving them 5 stars instead of 3. The potential is there though so I hope the new owners continue and I wish them well.

Portions are back to their original size and the food is well cooked not burnt, well done 10/10.Very polite staff and my only complaint would be the wait but the food is cooked to order and you can phone it in.

thought I'd try the fish and chips now new owners - fish batter greasy with black burnt bits of I dont lknow what,,,,couldn't eat it approx 20 chips all for nearly £12.00 Never never again

New in Wool village and were both very well travelled and have had 3 very good experiences with Skippers, 3 different weeks. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner who is very keen to meet customer needs...It's not easy taking over a business with such previously bad rapor but these have nailed it; so is brilliant for such a small village with few amenities to have this standard of Fish & Chip shop to call local. Very Very pleased with our meals each and every time we visit. Curry sauce is just yum yum and yum again! The bad reviews certainly are a conundrum and I would contest as it is all so the exact opposite! Well done Skippers in turning things around☺

Food was awful very greasy every bite was a grease pool. Over priced felt extremely unwell after eating, was warned by other people but thought they had just had bad experience. Would not recommend if you would like a traditional fish and chips.

Just nipped in to grab a small portion of chips whilst on a break. They tasted lovely. Will definitely be returning. Good prices for the value. Also the man who served me (Clive) is a good catch! ;-) Very polite and professional. Many thanks.

Disappointing!!!!! The chips are of the "frozen Kebab shop" type and not traditional English sea side chippy variety. Go to Wareham go to Lulworth cove don't ruin fish and chips by the sea by paying over the odds for sub standard cost cutting Chips!!!!!!

There is something about Wool & the service seems to be very slow. As there are only 2 people working there sometimes only 1 guy the food to be cooked is very slow as it is all cooked to order. Food can be very greasy & not very fresh when busy. The only nice thing is the chicken nuggets! Very large portions so you only need small otherwise it is wasted. As it is the only fish & chips in the area they can get away with it. If there was some competition perhaps they would improve.

Hubby called in for chips this evening as a stop off after a wet day !! Got food home all is raw (chips hard as if never touched the fryer) and luck warm straight in the bin ..don't waste your hard earned money

Chip portions reduced to nothing. Attitude from kid serving when questioned. Medium chips was half the size it normally is. Bag just thrown at me after having to ask for one. I'll drive to warreh from now on. I'll go to wareham

Second visit, system & service again a joke. This time one member of staff.... queues out the door, been here half an hr again, seriously if I had the time I would set up my own shop in Wool & close you down. A joke but no other option here.....aaaggh

Faulty towers of fish'n'chip shops. Scampi inedible (returned and refunded) fish swimming in grease, chips were awful. Very disappointing. We went on star rating, but it was soo wrong! When ordering multiple fish and chips for each person all of the chips for 5 people in one bag and all fish in another. Never seen that before and soo wrong.Poorly cooked and poorly packed.Unless a big change or strangers working on the day avoid.After eating what we could all had had heartburn.

Ordered various meals for 10 people. It was Absolutely disgusting, swimming in grease and overcooked.

Had to wait half an hour to be served with only one person in front of me (over cooked to order) and wish I hadn't wasted my time. Chips were not edible. Curry Sauce was more powder than sauce, only half the sausage battered and more grease than fish on the piece I was given. Very disappointing.

Been here before and had a lovely fish and chips but today we decided to go to the cafe next door to find it was closed thus decided we might aswell grab a chippie. Well what a waste of money chips ok but between us we had four savaloys at £2 each which the lady microwaved in front of us!! Got them home an it was like eating paste held together by the skin and could be eaten to they went straight in the bin bye £8!!! Really really disappointed and won't be returning... go the takeaways around bovington if you fancy a treat!!

Wow, never seen a piece of cod so big! Lovely fish and chips and the kids had fish cakes, which they said was the best they had ever had!

Be prepared to wait for your order, it is cooked fresh and worth waiting for. Good value, Good quality.

The fish is fresh and huge, lovely big flakes of perfectly cooked Cod and Haddock. Grandson loved the chicken nuggets, said best ever, he wished he had had 2 lots. Good value no waste will visit again soon.

We ordered 2 cod and chips meal we didn't realise that you had buy chips separate from the fish so we ordered 2 medium fish and large chips. The food was cooked to order so was fresh and really hot. We thought the meal was bit expensive for fish and chips but when we opened it we where shocked how big the medium portion of the food was and thought the price was justified for the size of portions and the fact it was cooked to order. The fish batter was lovely and crispy and chips where tasty. A lovely traditional fish and chips exactly what we needed after a long day.

Awful fish and chips covered in oil most unpleasant. Fish fell to pieces. Batter horrible. Kept using kitchen roll to mop up oil. Waste of time.

I remember when this first opened, a few years back and it was then pretty good. Now however to put in a simplistic way, AWFULL. It's problems are numerous, let's start with the key ingredient, chips, well they come from a cash and carry and are frozen, possibly from Macro in Poole. When you do get the chips they are often covered in black burnt bits as the oil they cook with does not get changed regularly enough, this has happened the past three times I have thought I will give it another go surely they must have sorted it out. Chips are also often very soggy and dripping in fat, almost as if they are not frying at the right temperature. Likewise with other fried products such as spam fritter sausages fish.my advise is drive to Wareham , they use fresh potato and much better quality.

I ordered regular cod and chips early this week! It was flakey and crispy! Only thing was the poor lad was on his own running around serving cooking and wrapping with a full shop! Skippers need more staff! Overall I highly recommend it if you're willing to wait 10 minutes for a fresh takeaway!

This Fish and Chip has improved over the time it has opened and I think is now serving the best F&C it has ever done. The size of the large Cod recently was enormous and the chips and batter seemed to have recently change dfor the even better. Service can be slow but sometimes you have to wait for fresh food to be cooked. What annoys me is when there are not enough staff for the demand and you dont see them cooking your food till 5 - 10 mins after you have paid.

I recently moved back into the area and thought I'd give it a try. I used to use the Chinese Takeaway in the village and I will be returning there in future.I ordered fish and chips twice and waited for almost half an hour for my order. Inevitably the chips were limp, soggy and tasteless. Both pieces of fish were rather small and very greasy. We couldn't eat the batter and were both put off by the meals which were visually as well as taste wise unappealing. If it wasn't for the salt and grease we would have been left starving.Never Again..

I am currently in the shop. I ordered nearly 30mins ago & not even near my order. The place is heaving. System is terrible & no sense of urgency. I wanted sausage & chips....that is all. If there was competition in the area this place would be shut. I could have gone to local pub, ordered, served & eaten by now. Sort it out

After going to UK from Crete for a christmas shopping trip we visited this chippie to have the humungus portion of cod & chips ever & it was fantastic.Only one complaint,I put plenty of vinigar on but you could not taste it ,so easy on the dilluting lads.

Thought I would give this fish & chip shop another go, seeing as before it was awful.Well I really wish I didn't :-( the chips were nothing to write home about, mushy peas were ok, first bit of fish I found a bone, then another then another put me off straight away, certainly won't be returning, will revel to wareham next time.

Even if the chips are frozen...this is unconfirmed...the chips were super. We were staying on a campsite nearby, so this was our local chippy. Chips were crispy and tasty, the chicken nuggets had a good quality chicken inside, the cod was succulent, chips were served in a large paper bag (more like a popcorn bag). Staff cheerful, lots of customers. No problem at all. Yum.

I have had many shops myself and this one is the best. I have cod and chips and they were cooked to perfection. All the staff are kind and willing to help with any problems and the chips are really tasty.people say that they are frozen and they can't be because they taste to good. I would highly recommend it to any body. The manager must be so proud to own such a amazing busies ness.

Used this chip shop on previous occasions, last year when in holiday. Was so nice, we used it again this year... However, when we got them back to our tent, I was very disappointed to find they were actually FROZEN chips and not fresh hand cut ones. Not nice at all and to top it off, the fat needed changing. Would not recommend and we will definitely not be returning. -_-

My husband and I were staying at the nearby caravan site and had a takeway - he had savaloy and I had cod and we shared a large portion of chips. The savaloy was very tasty, the chips excellent, crispy on the outside and soft inside, and the fish was the best I've ever had - the batter was amazing; light and crispy and not at all greasy. It was cooked to order but we didn't have to wait long, even though there were quite a few other customers.

Waited 20 mins for food however when it arrived it was good. Would benefit significantly from a ticketing system, in the time I was waiting 2 orders including mine appeared to be missed!

We haven't been here for years after trying a few times only to be disappointed. We thought we would give it another try to see if things had improved but in out opinion sadly it hadn't. The chips whilst cooked well tasted vile. I are a couple and left the rest. I'm not knowledgeable in the chip shop business but can only assume that perhaps the fat/oil needed changing.

got fish and chips ,we shared large fish and chips and glad we did ,the cod was huge looked like a whale pretending to be cod,.it was beautifuly cooked and the batter was as light as a feather and crispy,it's making me hungry now .the yummiest cod ever

I haven't visited a chip shop cleaner than this one - which take some doing! I noticed they had a % rating from Environmental health which I know is very difficult to get. Add to this the food being cooked whilst you wait and so is super fresh. This has to be one of the best Fish & Chip shops in Dorset (and I've been to a few!!)Well worth a visit, I will definately be going back

chips were under cooked and tasted sour. The service was pretty poor and the place was dirty and untidy. shall definately not be re visiting.

Cooked to order and FRESH, good food that hadn't been sat in the warmer and gone soggy. Fish was excellent and chips crisp and tasty. They don't use those chilled/frozen chips, I asked and they use chipped potatoes and double fry them. It may take a couple of minutes longer to get the food but the freshness makes it very worthwhile. Friendly young staff were a delight.This place is well worth a visit and I will be going back!

Really like the food here and the portions are excellent. If ordering chips a large portion will easily feed two adults with good appetites. Prices are not bad but service is the Achilles heel. They cook nothing in advance so everything is a wait and that becomes a long wait especially if it is busy. Wish they would at least put in a few of the staple fare during the busy times. Would help business and doesn't need to create waste

Arrived and order was taken straight away. However there were only 2 orders in front of mine and it took 25 minutes for my order to be cooked. It took over 10 minutes for my fish to even hit the fryer. An elderly lady sat for over 10 minutes waiting for chips despite the fact they were ready in the pan cooked. The gentleman could not multiple task and tool about 5 minutes to plod through my order of 2 fish, chips, pie and peas. When we finally got the food the chips were over cooked and dry as they had sat there so long and the fish was greasy and soggy! I will not be going back again.
