We had mini cod & chips - good size portion and very tasty👍

Was charged for a large cod , and got a stickle back instead ! And was over charged by £2 , not impressed 😒

Purchased cod & chips for myself & my wife and their standards have gone down everything was very greasy the batter was slimey greasy and under cooked ended up giving it to the seagulls, all of £21 down the drain. Give this one a miss.

Good chippie. Quality food and oil must have been fresh. Regular chip portion size felt a bit mean though and £12 overall for regular haddock, chips and peas felt a lot but I appreciate costs always rising. Would use again

Refried chips were just flat grim. A lot better food on the same street, avoid. Notice every negative review has the same copy paste response. Don't reheat food, family business or not.

Very good fish and chips with very friendly service. The lunch time menu is good value for money. We tend to take our food to have a picnic on the grass verge by the river (3 minutes walk away). The portion size is good. The batter is good. The battered sausage is good. The fish is average. Would recommend.

Top quality fish and chips from The Chipperies. Very nice chips - perfectly cooked with a nice crisp texture and very good fish too, cod cooked just right in a nice thin, crisp batter. The small / standard portions were a good size and reasonably priced. Standard cod, small chips and mushy peas cost £12.10. Freshly cooked with friendly, organised service even on a very busy evening. There are a few nearby benches to sit on and eat by the river - a perfect dinner after a day at the beach, highly recommended.

We are on holiday from Kent, 1st night is always fish and chips, thank you Chipperies the food was lovely, highly recommend, when u see a queue to me it means food is good. We may see you again in the next 2 weeks.

Normally a 5......normally the most delicious batter and crispy, wonderful chips.......until tonight. The mushy peas were like a thin soup and the chips and batter were just mush. So, so disappointing. Please Chipperies make this just a one off night..... Yesterday, we returned to Chipperies and are happy to say food was back to a delicious standard..normal service was resumed. First day of the school summer holidays and fish and chips tasted.re-heated and chewy.... very disappointed tonight, especially as they are quite expensive. Don't like being negative but the flavour definitely wasn't right tonight.

Stopped here after a day out in swanage whish I hadn't now all we orderd was 2 portions of chips and they were awfull looked reheated and just not enjoyable we tried them anyway and we should of gone with are thoughts and not eatten them service wasn't much better either I saw a good review on here saying best fish and chips around yeah right it's the best around because it's the only one around

Fish & Chips & Mushy Peas. We waited with a queue of others for our freshly cooked meal. Cod was chosen because we don't like skin on fish and the haddock was with skin. After collection we sat out on the Riverside and started our supper. Peas were tasteless and watery, fish was grey and seems like a shape of frozen fish ( I didn't ask if fish was fresh or frozen) anyway it also had the grease in the batter that could be seen seeping out. Chips were ' bits' like not full Chips as like the left overs on a batch of cooking chips and bits left in tray. Having paid over £24 for a take out meal we were left feeling ripped off and the birds around us were feeling full after giving them our supper. Not the end of the story. The small amount we ate kept us both up all night with toilet trouble, sickness and acid. We know that it was the fish supper because that's what kept repeating when we burped. Our toilet trouble lasted into half of Sunday to the point we could not leave home until after lunchtime, so we had to cancel our table booking for lunch. We don't like to complain on reviews ( see my others) but felt with the illness & poor quality of fish and the whole bad experience we had to. We know our fish suppers very well and live East Coast having whitby Scarborough Bridlington Grimsby close by we are spoilt for 100% quality F&Chips and this is definitely not what we got last night.

A nice chippy. Good service and a nice clean place. The food was okay but not great (I am from Yorkshire, so maybe it's just southern Fish and Chips aren't as nice).

Tried for the first time since their refurbishment and hoped it had improved. We were however disappointed with the cod and chips, with the cod not being very flaky and the batter very slightly underdone.

Food was pretty good, but the customer service was shocking. Young man serving hardly spoke and was more interested chatting and laughing to the staff out the back. Teenagers need jobs but atleast have someone to supervise them. Will not be returning sorry

Not sure why this chippie hasn’t got 5 stars… I pop in here every 2 weeks and it really is the best, the fish is SO fresh and they have proper fresh cut chips instead of those cheep frozen Mcain style chips.. 10 stars from me, keep frying guys!!!

Although I live in Wareham I normally confine my fish and chip buying to The Fish Plaice in Swanage or Lakeside in Poole, which are both excellent. But I'd had a hard day, couldn't be bothered to cook, and hadn't tried the fish and chips here since the shop was refurbished in the summmer. Wish I hadn't bothered. How difficult can it be to batter and fry a fish? In this case my batter was both over and under cooked - because it was very thick. So it was too brown on the outside and bitter tasting, yet still slimy inside. Chips were also somewhat overcooked and dry - maybe they had cooked a large batch and kept them hanging around. Altogether a poor experience and at £20 for two fish and one large chips, not one that I'll be risking again unless I start to hear some much better reports about this place.

Prices up quality down our £11.00 order consisted of 2 small cod fried to death not worth the price.

My husband ordered a cod and chips today for lunch. Very disappointed with the Cod, there was hardly any fish and it was rock hard. We threw the fish away as it was so bad. Chips were no better, very brown. We used to love getting our fish chips here, while we were holidaying in Wareham. I'm afraid we won't be using you again.

Ordered a Cod and Chips and a Haddock and Chips (both medium). Phoned ahead to place the order, showed up on time and was out a couple of minutes later with my order. Fish was well cooked and flavourful, batter was crispy but not rock hard. Chips were decent, maybe a little greasy in places but generally excellent texture and very flavourful. Salt and vinegar levels were spot on for us. Definitely worth a visit in my view!

Had 2 haddock and chips today which were lovely nice flakely fish excellent batter and tasty warm chips were a nice supper after a few beers on my birthday would definitely recommend and return on my next visit to Wareham

Watched the guy get everything out the freezer. Probably worst chippy I’ve been to.

My daughter was visiting us in Wareham with our grandson. She said she would treat us to a fish and chip lunch & so decided to visit the Chipperies on South Street. When she returned with our order we were very disappointed. For the price customers pay, one might have expected a larger fish when a large fish is ordered. The portion of large chips was also somewhat lacking in size. Unfortunately, this was not a one-off unique experience. Since the takeaway was refurbished we have visited a couple of times & been disappointed on each occasion. Prior to the second visit we did have our doubts but decided to give the Chipperies another chance. Sadly, we were mistaken. I'm sorry to have to write such a negative review. In the past we have always been satisfied with the pricing, quality of the food & portioning. Since the refurbishment this seems to have changed. I'm sorry that this business appears to have let its standards drop. I'm willing to visit & try again in the future but it wont be for quite a while.

Lovely chippys and fish my favourite and love the lunch deal too so cheap fabulous , great staff and extremely kind and welcome.

Extremely busy place obviously short staffed and tenson in the atmosphere. Asked for plenty of salt & vinegar on as you can't put your own on & there was none on at all ..... Extremely disappointed what is fish & chips with no salt & vinegar. Not reccomend try another take away there are plenty around !

The fish and chips were SO TASTY, the chips were so flavourful!? The battered sausage was great too, my only gripe is that I didn't notice the deals until after I had paid, and it would have been £5 cheaper for fish and chips if I had ordered mushy peas as well! Bit of a bummer that I paid more than I needed to, but still worth it as it was delicious! They didn't ask if we wanted salt and vinegar though and it isn't out for you to do it yourself so it would be good if they asked but that's not the end of the world!

Used to live in wareham 15yrs ago. Never liked chipperies or long johns (both same owner i believe) so always went to Upton. Back now thought they can't be still as bad so ill give them ago. Oh god they've got worse, we got fish chips and mushy peas, best thing was the peas!!! Fish batter was so hard i had to chip it off to get to the fish. The chips? Total waste of money and my pallet tasted of grease and were dark brown i think they are going for the triple cooked vibe but just end up destroying texture, taste and end up with over fried scraps. It wasn't bad it was disgusting. Ive heard Upton are still good and i know from experience chips are cooked to perfection at the Poole Asda carpark chippy. Wareham chip shops if your reading this.......chips are meant to be slightly crisp on the outside and FLUFFY in the middle!! And fish batter is best lightly coated in a light crispy batter, again not over cooked needing a chizzle !!!

Quite simply the best fish n chips in South Dorset. Forget Swanage and get your fish supper here and eat it by the river. They have a smashing deal, 2 small cod, and a large chips £10. If Chipperies was in London, it would be the best there too. No kidding. Enjoy

Got a large haddock and chips, the haddock was awful, the batter was solid almost like a reheat,won't go back, what a disappointment

Great Fish and Chips and friendly staff, nice young man with hat on was very polite server. Reasonably priced for fish and chips these days.

Good is great but they have a new policy where people ordering by phone jump ahead of the (large) queue outside. This happened several times while we were queuing resulting in a 40 minute wait. It honestly would have been quicker to phone in an order from the queue! Terrible system, should be scrapped - all the patrons were unhappy.

Chose this chippy whilst visiting the area as Long John's had worse reviews! Portions very small.for the price you pay. There was a friend of the team waiting for them to finish who, not sure if they work there but certainly wasn't tonight wearing fishnet stockings, who was behind the counter bagging up my food. Im sorry but that's not acceptable in a food, safety controlled environment first of all, and very poor for customers to see and experience this. Think I'll try Long John's next time! Although saying that, don't be fooled, from their responses to reviews previously both Chip shops ask you to email the same email address to settle any disputes, looks like they're run by the same owner/company. Would be clever business if they're run well...

Would recommend the lunch time special between 12-2. It was Lovely food at a reasonable price. Ordered cod special and battered jumbo special with curry sauce.

Fantastic food. We arrived in Swanage on a stormy wet night to camp! These guys made our stay! Hot cheesy chips, beautiful fish, lovely staff, great prices. So good we went back again.

Good chips,pea fritters need more seasoning.I'm vegetarian and the only choice was overpriced halloumi.Not difficult these days to offer a better menu,they don't even offer a veggie burger or a cheese and onion fry it! ******* Would just like to say that after a further visit the options have not improved but their cheesy chips are the best I've ever had,and a huge portion too.I really appreciate the owner responding to my initial review.

Bit confused. Went pass and it was open... 3 mins later at 6pm walked back and it was shut... due to staff shortages. So can't really comment on the food.

Great chip shop on main street in Wareham. A good deal of 2 small fish and a chips for £10 was available. Packaging was cardboard box with paper bag so no plastic being used.

As an antidote to a poor meal we'd had at a local restaurant, we decided to try a takeaway from The Chipperies. What a great decision! The cod fillets were cooked perfectly and wrapped in light, crispy golden batter. The chips were just as tasty and were crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside and non-greasy. Probably the best fish and chips I've had for a long long time.

We absolutely loved the cod and chips!! If you like a lot of vinegar on you chips, ask for extra!! We will ride back down just to have this!! We had the regular cod and regular chips.

We had piping hot, salty, vinegary chips for lunch. Nicely packaged in durable cardboard boxes which made it easy to eat them. Quite pricey but what isn't nowadays! Good portion sizes and very tasty.

This place is not Michelin rated etc.....but my partner and I just wanted a bite to eat after a longish drive. The food was fresh, the batter on the fish superb and the cod dlisssshous. We went back 2 days later. It's basically a take away but was superb. Price? Well, we bought two fish and a large portion of chips for £10 in total. The staff were polite and I cannot think of anything negative to say!

Always enjoy Chipperies fish & chips. Today we took advantage of the special, 2 small cod & large chips for £10. More than enough food for us both & tasty. Even though we are not far from Wareham, when the sun comes out we feel like tourists sitting by the river.

Really nice fish and chips. I have been to Wareham many times in the past few years and have often had fish and chips from here. Never had a complaint. I usually phone them from the nearby pub to order so I can collect on my way to the station. Always ready on time. This is a good idea as it gets very busy. Nice staff and well worth visiting.

My husband and I visited wareham today at lunchtime. Treated ourselves to fish and chips to eat at the quay and we were both very impressed at the size of the portion and how delicious they were. We come from Weymouth where we have very good fish and chip shops but these surpassed them. Tasty cod tasty batter and tasty chips.

After sitting on Wareham Quay we decided to visit the Chipperies to take a supper back to our caravan. Was so disappointed. My husbands cod was tasteless and my battered halloumi was more batter than anything else. The onion rings were covered in dark brown batter and really overcooked. I absolutely hate wasting food but unfortunately over half of our food went in the bin. Such a shame. Unfortunately this wasn’t a patch on the mobile fish and chip catering van that visited the caravan site during the high season. Next time will try the other Wareham fish and chip shop.

I was told that this was the best fish and chips shop. Sadly, not the case when we visited. The staff were totally uninterested in what they were doing. Amazingly slow and totally unapologetic when they got our order wrong twice. I hope we were just unlucky. We will be trying another shop in Wareham should we want fish and chips again. I should say that when we finally got our order it was ok.

I have been meaning to send this review for several weeks but kept forgetting :-( We enjoyed absolutely delicious fish and chips from this shop when we visited recently; they were fresh, hot and very, very tasty. I did pop back at the time and pass on my thanks to the manager, who was very pleased with my comments. Having worked in a chippy for many years it was clear that the oil needs changing. You can see that as the colour of the batter It is really dark brown and the battered food tastes like it has been in the fryer far too long and recooked. Also I couldn't tell which was small cod and which was large. They both looked small. Chips were ok, but portions are stingy. Disappointed with fish and battered sausage.

Had a very pleasant experience here today, lovely fresh fish, beautifully cooked batter and lovely atmosphere. Staff went over and above board with caring for my elderly parents. For a takeaway chip shop was superb. I would recommend it any day .Thank you for your care

The Haddock and chips and chicken nougats were fresh and cooked to perfection, however they ignored my request to add salt and vinegar for all 3 orders.We asked for large Haddocks but bizarrely got two small ones each!So if they can get the salt and vinegar bit right then they would rank very highly ( in my expert opinion )

Ordered standard chips and cod. Portion sizes were good and the chips crispy and very nice. Cod was excellent. My wife had nuggets and impressed by amount of chicken contianed in them. Highly recommend. Surprised by some of the negative comments.

We ordered cod , chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. The chips were on the thin side, the fish was good but the batter was bland, tasteless and soft. Must peas and curry sauce were average. On a plus note the ordering, service, organisation and covid awareness was very good. It was just disappointing that the food didn't quite hit the mark.
