Just had a kebab from here meat was very greasy and tasted really salty my partner had a burger and it was dripping in grease place has well gone down hill never again will we go rhere

food was 30 mins late and arrived cold as apparently he had to get up the bus

Fish and chips are great, generous portions, clean oil used and not greasy. Service is great, we often order online to collect to beat the queues as it can get quite busy as it is very popular especially on the weekend.

Portion sizes are great, we bought larger portions to share (5 of us) rather than all individual meals and it was plenty! Nothing was too greasy, very tasty!

Very long wait for cheesy chips and a chip butty, 20minutes! Hard bap when I finally got it too.

Waited 50 min for a collection that should be ready 30 min ago. All of the walk in customers got served before me. It would be quicker to cook it myself. Fish was lovely but kebab tasted like rubber.

Over all the food is good, certainly better than all previous owners in the past five years. I was happy that they now sell kebabs until having one tonight, the meat was good but everything else about it was not, such ad a large there is the equivalent of a small at other shops, comes on top of some manky flavoured over crunchy fries as standard which I was not expecting . Just a little odd really, salad was not great either. Wasn’t what I wanted when ordering a kebab but maybe to other people’s taste Staff are polite and the waiting times are reasonable 👍

I was working 3 mins away, so Friday treat, large fish and medium chips & curry sauce, it was a massive piece of fish 14” long and the portion of chips, were huge, curry sauce was good, all in all, top notch, cooked really well, very tasty, good services and will definitely be returning, cheers

Food arrived within 15-20 mins of ordering, the ETA was up too 50 mins so super impressed. Food was 10/10 - myself and my partner loved it. Will definitely be ordering again. Super fast delivery, yummy scran and even piping hot!!! Thanks!

After work today I went to the fish and chip shop and brought my family fish and chips, my step mum is a veggie and ordered battered mushrooms but much to our disgust when we got home we discovered that some of the so called breaded mushrooms were prawns. The children’s drinks were missing and a request of no salt on the children’s chips was not provided but the overriding issue is the clear lack of proper cross contamination prevention.

Ordered a 1/4 with cheese but no cheese on burger. Normally good food from here but tonight’s mess up is disappointing as family member won’t eat food without cheese. Refund requested.

Their Google business account states Friday opening times are 11:30 - 21:30. We turn up and they were closed.

Just got home with fish and chips. Fish had about 2 inches of batter, fish was dry and tasted like it was cooked last week, won't be back, last visit wasn't that good either, gave benefit of doubt but that's it no more.

Kids meals have been good value. My daughter loved the large piece of fish she got with it and the burger in the kids meal was huge

The fish and chips are always golden and crisp and the portions are generous. The lunchtime cod and chips deal is great value for money.

Great food customer service needs to be worked on. Downfall when ask for a large you get at times a small even though you paid for a large

Excellent fish and chips and friendly service

Food is great. Service is quick when not busy. Staff are fine. However... The last 2 occasions have not been great. Forgot a portion of chips on one of our orders. Wasn't until we got home we discovered it missing. This time around, Google states 11:30-21:30 as the opening times. Went on the website, ordered, email confirmation that the order would be ready 14:49. Got there and it's closed. Opens again at 16:30. Went back, got my order, checked it all before I left, get home and the kids burger that I paid extra for cheese on has no cheese. Great chippy but I'm not sure that we will be back sadly

Absolute ridiculous!! We have ordered online multiple times and our food isn’t ready until at least 15 minutes or more after we arrive to collect. If we order online and receive a COLLECTION time, it should be ready at the designated time give or take a few minutes.

!!!!! Not happy with the fish and chip really awful chips tastes like they gave been in there for hour and fish is not crispy soaking and they over charge me on my order would not recommend at all 👎

We have just had cod and chips from you and it was the nicest fish ever! The portions are huge and service very good.

The haddock was fantastic full of flavour and fresh to i personally would recommend to anyone great fish.

We've changed our regular chip shop to this one, portions really good as are prices. Staff friendly. Order generally accurate. Can pre-order on their web site so it's easier to do, especially on biggest orders with fussy kids. Only down side, and it's so minor, if you order sauces, make sure you check before you leave they've given them to you as most of the time they get forgotten, but to be fair, it's generally busy in there 😆

Wow brilliant fish n chips. We visit this chippy 12 months ago and it was very disappointing. I believe its under new owners and I'm not disappointed. Excellent portion sizes, hot, well packed, friendly staff. We will be back 😊

Ordered a large fish and chips and the portion was very small and the fish was very thin and small Very disappointing will not be returning The first time we bought from here the food was very hot and the portion we asked for, large, was just that. We returned again at a later date and the chips were cold and had been refried, so tried again this evening and won't be going back You need to be consistent for quality and quantity to keep customers

Ordered a very large order today! Service was excellent, food was spot on and very much enjoyed by everyone at The Court Retirement Residence. (Portions were huge by the way) highly recommend this establishment.

Excellent service and really good food. The staff work very hard under pressure and it’s good quality food.

Extremely slow service, can take 15 minutes to see 3 orders go out, which during peak times leads to long waits, so be prepared. Very disorganised, some staff appear decent but most appear to have mastered the long lost art of moving and looking busy without actually doing anything, or working at odds with other members of staff. Can't blame wait times on number of staff as they have more staff than most other chippies of comparable size. Cooks are slow and often don't have things ready to go. Servers often don't take orders unless you are at the till and whilst some are good and work quick when the Cooks have things prepared, others have clearly realised that so long as they look busy they are OK. Prices have risen dramatically recently, so be prepared to fork out well above the going rate for a portion of chips, and I hope you like mystery because there is no consistency among their portion sizes, even among boxed meals, where what size box you get depends on the day of the week, if its raining and if a butterfly flapped its wings in Madagascar at 2:47 pm last Wednesday. The most common remedy for the long wait is a free item of food, which they often don't tell you they've given you and often goes to waste as you've ordered what you wanted to eat anyway. Ironically I have on at least 1 occasion waited longer because they were waiting on the free item that they hadn't told me they were giving me...

Great local chippy in Cranbrook, with gluten-free options available. Only lose a star because they have previously got my order wrong (and I didn't realise until I got home). EDIT: This review was posted when it was Seamasters. We have not visited since it has been under new management and changed to Skippers, as they no longer appear to offer gluten-free options. ☹️

Fresh food and friendly service, plenty of parking too👌🏽

Every time we have used the click and collect service from here, there has been a problem with it. The most recent example is two burgers with added extras, which cost extra, but none of the extras were added. By the time we notice, it's too late to go all the way back. We've called and had apologies, but no refunds of the extras because the click and collect system doesn't allow it!

Went on a Friday evening around 5pm. 14/04/23 Paid £14.50 for a far amount of food. Prices are what you'd expect for a chippie. Was a good waiting time, wasnt kept too long. Got the food home and was so shocked. My mum lives v.close and said the quality of food we received was really awful when compared to normal. We decided to eat it anyway as it was a one-off. Until we unwrapped the Saveloy. It was totally and utterly inedible. Dry as a bone, cripsy, and clearly overcooked skin, just totally beyond saving. Called them and explained and was told to come back to the shop. To my amazement, not only did they replace the entire order, but they also apologised many times. The real kicker was that they actually partially refunded my meal! I am so impressed with that level of service. The food we received as replacement was wonderful. Clearly, we had a one-off bad order, very impressed with the customer service. You won't be disappointed, and if you are, they'll make it right.

It’s a massive step-down from the last Fish and Chip shop we had in terms of both food and service. Food wise you’ve got a good 50/50 chance of eating something nice or eating something that makes you feel ill. We don’t judge on one bad experience and it’s our local so we’ve ordered quite a few times and that seems to be a consistent experience, which is a shame. As for staff. It’s kinda weird. They’re all polite, there’s no issues there, it’s just weird little experiences. Some nights there’s two to three staff, other nights there’s enough staff to rival a Sports Direct. We’ve seen two girls taking chips, getting told off because they were ‘for the customers’ and then replying in such a way that makes me feel they’re related to an owner or member of staff and other various questionable interactions. Food orders have been wrong or missing items so we’ve got into a habit of checking as best we can before we leave the area. Salt and vinegar was never asked about and never applied until recently, when they now ask and, again, you have about a 50/50 chance of getting it. You say can I have A and B, pause, then say C and D and you’ll often find A is with D and B is with C, which is the wrong size, etc. It’s nothing major, just lots of little things. Ordering from a chip shop shouldn’t be this difficult for the staff and tiresome for the customer. I’ll still order from here on occasion because I’ve learnt to keep my expectations low.

I ordered 12 x fish 'n' chips for a team lunch at work to be collected at 12.15. The order was bang on time, the food was hot and beautifully cooked. The team loved it!

Terrible. Really cheap tasting burger in a cheap roll. Left on top of the counter for ages as they hadn't cooked some pre ordered meals. Chips with cheese was inedible. A complete waste of money!

Really disappointed! Just got home with our chippy tea and the Saveloy wasn’t cooked. They were very apologetic but it’s just unacceptable.

Great meals one little problem is the wrapping of the chips no protecting paper ie grease proof paper, the fish and sausage are fine because of the wrapping the chips no because they stick to the paper and are squashed trying to get them off

Young lad there is pretty slow though I hope he gets over whoever died soon. Order was wrong - even after they "confirmed" the wrong order and corrected themselves as I corrected them. This is probably a terrible venture for the owner and should just let this restaurant go, every iteration is as bad as the last one. You'd be better off going to one of the vans or ordering a pizza from dominos. Food was okay and not entirely terrible so they can have another star.

5 times this chip shop has closed and reopened as a different chip shop in the 2.5 yrs I’ve lived in Cranbrook, this time the worst by far, the food is left standing far too long, at least 90 minutes , used it twice , cold food both time, refried chips, had to microwave when I live a few streets away, please just close it permanently and may be they could make use for something needed more than a poor quality chippy,

Slow service, dirty shop, rude staff

The food really isn’t great and it isn’t cheap, we have tried it twice now and won’t be going back. We got there when it just opened so there was no excuse for the food to be rubbish.

Really disappointed with our first visit. They missed two items off the order and the pie was the wrong filling. The chips we got were not great, chewy like they had been in the warmer too long, which is ironic because they were far from hot. I am told the fish was okay though.

pre ordered and they forgot 3 portions of chips , 2 cods and a portion of scampi. went back and collected the rest of our order. went home and there order was still missing a portion of scampi. not impressed in the slightest.

Ordered Fish and Chips tonight.Taste lively but the fish was so small and thin like a elongated fish finger. Certainly not a portion really disgusted and will not be returning.

We treated ourselves to fish and chips tonight, the service was rather slow. The staff we moaning between themselves over who was washing up at the end of there shift. Food was okay but yet again they had no tartare sauce to go with the fish.

Hardly worth 1 star. Honestly can’t put into words this experience. To summarise even the dog eats better than this. We waited at least 25minutes considering the number of staff this place should be running smoothly but it seemed like no one had a clue. Then to get home and start our dinner, half of the batter we find to be empty considering we ordered a large fish it turns out not to be the case at all. Also, the same fish had clearly been refried due to the batter braking in the same way as does honeycomb. As for the colour of the fish, I haven’t ever seen something quite like it. Actually worrying that this is served. This isn’t acceptable. The chips also clearly refried. At the end of all of this the prices they ask for this quality of food just isn’t justifiable.

We had the worst fish and chips from here, really disappointing given the last ones we had were great when it was the chip shack. More batter than fish and overcooked chips, very disappointed.

Disappointed with our order tonight, since change of ownership the food has gone down hill. Chips were disgusting tasted and looked like old chips, not fresh at all and considering our pick up was 10 minutes after opening they should of very much been freshly cooked! Chips went in bin as barely edible! Curry sauce was also very runny, normally has a thicker consistency.

Food is lovely however the wait was not. Waited for 15 mins to be served then another 25 mins for food. The chef is very slow, rude to his staff and wouldn't put any more chips in even though the staff told him they needed more chips! What's the one thing a chippy always sells so should be cooking.... chips! Will not use again if busy.

to expensive. 3.10 for large chips probably cause it get's served in fancy boxes. not interested just wrap it in paper keep it a basic chippy with good prices. won't last long place has had 3 different owners.

Nice food bit expensive for what we got. 1/2 lb burger was alot smaller than I thought it was going to be so defo wasn't worth the money I paid.

Not once have I had a bad experience from these guys and I go there frequently as they are round the corner try the halumi chips you will thank me later 😉

We come here a lot, everything is cooked fresh when ordered. Nice portions and very tasty food. Its very clean and modern and very inviting. I would normally give a 5 star but however tonight they did not put the salad and sauce in our burgers as advertised on their board. Probably just down to how busy they were, normally they are spot on. But the burger needed sauce and salad coz the burger patee is massive and very thick but its a really nice taste and seasoned perfectly.

Ordered on a busy Friday night but didn’t have to wait long. Reasonable prices and well organised. The batter was very good and tasted fresh. The chips weren’t the best I’ve ever had but they were acceptable. The halloumi was also very nice. I would go back

Not worth it, over priced for bad fish and chips

The gluten free options are superb. In fact my wife's gluten free fish batter was even better than my normal batter and it was the same price. Would highly recommend.

Excellent service and great food. One minor niggle; first time we'd ordered online and didn't spot that chip order option. Collected a large order yet no one asked why we didn't have chips. Got home, aghh, back to the chip shop! The guy serving was very helpful and put me at the front of the queue. Will go again. Oh, and the mushy peas didn't arrive. However, good on the whole, thank you

Having visited your shop in Exmouth, which was amazing food! I was so disappointed when I went to your chip shop in Cranbrook. The fish was OK, but the chips were terrible, they were so greasy and soaky I couldn't eat them .I certainly won't be going back

Sadly the Cranbrook shop is not up to the same standard as Exmouth. My wife and I love the Proper Fish and Chip shop at Exmouth and we visit the Exmouth shop at least once a week from Exeter. However, we tried the Cranbrook shop a few weeks back and it was a major disappointment. Nothing like the Exmouth shop standards. Sadly I cannot see us using the Cranbrook shop any time soon. Sorry guys your going to need to raise your standards in Cranbrook. I don't know if it is due to different staff who don't know what they are doing and the standards you set. You will definitely need to up your game in Cranbrook. But still love Exmouth! 😊
