We went to the skinny kitten for my best friends baby shower! I emailed Steph to enquire and she couldn’t have done more for us she was so accommodating! On the day all the ladies were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us! We had the private function room which felt so personal and the afternoon tea was beautiful! Steph and the team thank you for making us so welcome! Nothing was to much! Highly recommend the skinny kitten for a coffee date or even a private function! Thank you all so much 💕

We’ve had the pleasure of meeting at the Skinny Kitten a few times recently; what a little gem this is in the lovely village of Barton! These guys have really thought of everything - top notch coffee, delicious homemade food, lovely relaxed atmosphere & so obviously family run (they have a cute little corner of books & toys for the young ones, good baby change facilities etc) which makes catch ups with the kids so much more pleasurable!! Hard to find places that don’t make you feel in the way with prams & babies etc! The specials board is full of heat choices but to be honest you would be hard pushed to find something you didn’t love on the main menu. Their iced lattes, homemade cakes & chicken shawarma flatbread are ace!!

Skinny Kitten Cafe helped us create a wonderful baby shower for our friend. They were accommodating with our decorations and letting us come in early to set up. Communication throughout the planning was great and with quick helpful responses. The food on the day was lovely, and nothing was too much hassle for the team.

Festive afternoon tea - went with a group of friends/colleagues for a festive afternoon tea. I am that awkward customer who is vegan but also has an allergy; this was dealt with over the phone with no issues and in-depth knowledge and understanding of the anxieties surrounding eating out with allergies. Food was plentiful and tasty. Friendly owner. Really recommend for anyone, especially if allergies or vegan.

Just completed a fantastic Autumn Water Colour Workshop with Sarah at the Skinny Kitten.It was a lovely atmosphere and so well created and planned that we all learned loads. The addition of a yummy afternoon tea a real bonus. Friendly staff and nice environment. Thoroughly recommended..

Had my baby shower afternoon tea here yesterday, couldn't fault a thing. The staff were so polite and lovely. We decorated the table and the food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back! 100% recommend. My mum couldn't have the afternoon tea due to allergies so had her own platter of goodness!!!

My first visit and it won't be my last! The menu was just to my taste especially the homemade cakes...the Bakewell Tart cake was delicious! Very friendly, pleasant atmosphere....will certainly be visiting again soon.

This was our first meal at The Skinny Kitten Cafe, we were really impressed with the friendly welcome from the owners and the comfortable atmosphere. The coffees and food on the menu was entirely to our taste, meaning we had lots of options to choose from. Service was really prompt and the food quality and cooking very good. The home baked cakes were excellent. We would recommend The Skinny Kitten Cafe, and for anyone searching for gifts, cards and wrap, The Fat Cat shop next door has lots on offer.

After seeing positive reviews about this place I decided to visit. The place it’s self was very welcoming and so were the staff Unfortunately the flat white was substandard to say the least and the cakes ordered were tasteless

We recently went to The Skinny Kitten Cafe for my daughters Baby Shower, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. We had The Snug to ourselves, which was a lovely, cosy setting. Steph was so helpful and friendly from the start and allowed us come early to set up the decorations. We had the Afternoon Tea, which everyone agreed was first class. There was a good variety of sandwiches and so many scrumptious cakes. Everyone has a fab afternoon, the staff were super friendly, nothing was too much trouble and the food delicious! What more could you ask for. Thank you Skinny Kitten for making our baby shower special. .

We held a baby shower for my sister at Skinny Kitten and it was the most beautiful day we could have asked for. The Skinny Kitten has a warm and cosy feel to it, which makes a perfect setting for intimate celebrations. We invited 14 guests to the baby shower and we were given exclusive use of the ‘snug’ which allowed us privacy from other visitors without feeling shut away. We brought all of our own decorations (although this is offered by Skinny Kitten at an additional cost) and we were allowed to set up in plenty of time before our guests arrived. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much effort and they really helped the day run so smoothly. Leading up to the event, I had been emailing Steph to make all of the arrangements. She was super helpful and flexible when it came to what we wanted for the day. We opted for an afternoon tea which was delicious! The finger sandwiches were lovely and you could tell the bread was so fresh. The cakes were divine as were the scones and I was surprised there were any leftovers (but also pleased as we got to take the rest home)! There was one guest who was unwell and unfortunately couldn’t make it last minute. They boxed up her portion for us to drop by for her which was a lovely thought! We also had one guest who has a nut allergy and they catered for her, giving her own separate selection. All of our guests were so impressed and expressed how amazing the day had been, all of them saying what a little hidden gem this place is! All in all we can’t thank Skinny Kitten enough for the day, many memories were made and the attention to detail and the warmth received from all of the staff helped make this really special. Thank you again! We can’t wait to visit again with baby in tow 💗

Great afternoon tea, nice selection of sandwiches and cake. The scones and lemon drizzle cake were divine. We had our afternoon tea as a take away and it was boxed and presented with style and care. A real treat.

I have been to Skinny Kitten numerous times with family and friends for both drinks/cakes, and for breakfast/lunch. We always receive a warm and friendly welcome. The cafe is charming, and needless to say the food and cakes are delicious. Highly recommend 👍

This is a great little cafe. Really friendly staff, great menu and a lovely establishment. Looks small from outside but there's lots of little rooms inside. Sausage and egg baguette was yummy

I hate to write bad reviews but I would like to save people the time, money and effort of going to skinny kitten cafe. Absolutely terrible management. The manager (Steph) was very inconsiderate and rude, it ruined my sisters event. DO NOT BOOK for large parties or for afternoon tea packages, the organisation is stressful and the manager tries to charge excessively - even for things like table cloth hire, which you'd think would be included in the original fee, seen as your paying hundreds and hundreds of pounds. Very unorganised and unprofessional, ignored certain questions and wouldn't answered my enquiry fully. Which lead to a very disappointing and unprofessional situation. Also extremely rude when I asked if I could bring a few decorations and balloons. She hardly ever replied on email then tried to cancel our event with days to go. Absolutely no customer service or willingness to provide a good service (which is ironic for being in the service industry).Would highly recommend going to the Newton Park Hotel or hattys tea shop for afternoon tea instead - their service and organisation is so much better and easier. Also the food and cakes are soooooo much nicer.Please save your money and time! Skinny kitten cafe is a very poorly run 'business' with food/cakes that aren't even very good. Shame for the servers cause they seem lovely and helpful!

I organised a small gathering to celebrate a friend getting married. I cannot recommend them and the service I have received at skinny kitten more highly! , freshly baked cupcakes, decorations set out for us. Cupcakes were amazing, service was amazing. So accomodating. as we all had babies to bring too! We have eaten here many times and always look forward to visiting. Thank you all so much! Having read previous reviews on here and my husband having visited yesterday, I had to come here. I'm veggie so really pleased this cafe catered for me, I had a veggie sausage with mushrooms and fried egg sandwich washed down with tea. It was delicious and filling. Having read previous reviews on here, I couldn't resist a piece of Victoria Sandwich cake and this was scrumptious. Staff are very friendly and dining here rounded off our holiday at Wychnor Manor. Can definitely recommend this place.

Decided to try the Skinny Kitten Barton. Seen the cafe but never been in. We had already reserved a table and although it was quiet when we arrived it soon got busy. Good service, food was amazing lovely atmosphere.

Over priced dry cake and tea that took ages to come! Made to sit in the back as the nicer part of the cafe was for adults only. Better off getting a Costa and Cake from the Co-op across the road

Spent a lovely afternoon at skinny kitten cafe celebrating a hen do after seeing online that they were able to cater for parties. Having not been before I didn’t know quite what to expect, however we were blown away. The service was brilliant, it’s family run - you can tell there’s a lot of love and care in what they do not just in the cakes but the finger sandwiches and cocktails were all delicious! The cafe is small but perfectly formed and has all the facilities to cater for babies and the like and there’s a lovely sunny courtyard at the back too.I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone! Thank you so much for making one very happy bride to be and a special day for everyone!

There wasn't many people in. The waitresses were attentive. Food was okay but small portion it seemed precooked and warmed up but can't be sure.

Arranged for Sunny Kitten Cafe to deliver a Mother’s Day surprise afternoon tea to my parents - it was a huge hit! Food was delicious and it was so lovely to be able to treat them at a distance during lockdown. Thank you! Xx

I had one of the take out afternoon teas for a birthday treat. It was really lovely and really filling. The sandwich choices were great, smoked salmon, ham and a Brie and cranberry (my favourite). Then it was decision time as to which of the gorgeous looking cakes to start with! There was a lemon drizzle, a bakewell slice, cream scones and chocolate orange cupcake. I only managed a couple and was stuffed so enjoyed them all over a couple of days. All were gorgeous! Highly recommend the afternoon tea and I have also had the milkshake and coffee to take out before and these were also lovely.

Popped in today for a sausage sarnie and a couple of crepes for the kids. The service was excellent and friendly. The food was fantastic! So fresh and tasty! The kids couldn’t get enough of the crepes! Amazing!

Great place to celebrate a birthday, or any occasion! Skinny Kitten is such a cosy and fun venue. They have an extensive gin menu and delicious cocktail selection 😋. I certainly enjoyed my birthday celebration last night 👍

So, we didn't pre-book for the National Memorial Arboretum... onto Plan B and a mooch around Barton-under-Needwood. As we love cats and quirky, stylish interiors, just the name piqued our curiosity!Greeted with a very warm welcome (in COVID-19 specification PPE) we chose a table in The Snug. The Skinny Kitten Cafe offers a menu with a wide and choice, including vegetarian and vegan options. Our food was served in style and tasted as good as it looked.Have I mentioned the in-house baked cakes? The selection is truly tempting, with the final choice being the only difficult decision. I can definitely recommend the chocolate covered flapjack - the perfect treat with a cup of tea!Whether you are local or passing through, the Skinny Kitten Cafe is highly recommended. I think a minor diversion might be needed on our next road trip... see you soon!

Had my 60th birthday meal for eleven. Steph and her team bent over backwards to make sure we had a great time - and we did. Three course meal (Menu specially tailored for us) was delicious as was wine. Service excellent too. Covid rules all followed as well. Thanks Steph.

We picked up a take away afternoon tea which was lovely. Sandwiches were fresh, plenty of cakes and fruit scones with jam and clotted cream. Highly recommend, will definitely visit them again.

Came here with some friends and had a full English breakfast and it was amazing! Very relaxing atmosphere and staff were very quick to serve our food.

Recommended by a business colleague, so glad I made the effort to find it. Welcomed in to this cosy little café by Cathy, who promptly took my order and served with efficiency and a smile. Great customer service, lovely food. Hopefully I'll be back this way soon.

If you are out and about on your bike call in at the Skinny Kitten for coffee and cake or more. There is off road parking for your bikes and plenty of room inside. You really must call in, the meat free breakfast is great.

I have visted Skinny Kitten cafe many times over the years. Beautiful food with so much choice! The staff are incredible and so friendly. My most recent visit was for my sister in laws 30th birthday! I arranged afternoon tea for her closest family and friends! Steph at Skinny Kitten was fantastic! Accommodating all dietary requests! Even opening up the cafe on a day they would normally close to allow us to have exclusive use.The table was decorated beautifully with linen and balloons! We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at the cafe, especially those cakes! I Would most definitely recommend for either a nice breakfast or lunch with friends or even a special get together with family and friends.

The cafe is very pleasant.Nice and clean,friendly staff.I had the afternoon tea which was sandwiches on cheap sliced bread very ordinary fillings .One small scone witn whipped cream not clotted a tiny piece of chocolate sponge and a very small eclair for the ridiculous price of 15.95 .It was ok but not worth the money.

We held a 40th party at Skinny Kitten at the weekend and it was fantastic! Stef was accommodating and helpful throughout the organisation process, and her and her staff were brilliant on the night. Many of our guests commented what a great venue it was for a party. Would definitely recommend.

As a local we occasionally have a coffee and breakfast. But a recent visit was disappointing in that food was not warm and bacon was rather tired and hard.

Held my 50th birthday party at skinny kittens, and hired the whole venue. Stephanie was extremely helpful and accommadating, nothing was too much trouble . The atmosphere,venue,food and service was fantastic. Thank you for a memorable evening.

Wow...where do I start?! Steph and her team went above and beyond to cater for our party of 16 to hold a surprise baby shower for our friend. Nothing was too much trouble and Steph helped us organise the surprise as well as make the day as special as possible for our mum-to-be.

Nice funky little cafe with lots of little rooms off rooms.

This cafe is situated in the lovely village of Barton Under Needwood and the layout is very quirky with little nooks and crannies. The furniture is a mixture of old and new with old books to flick through on the shelves and we notice something different either on the walls or shelves each time we visit which is often. Breakfasts and lunches are delicious and well presented with a menu varied to suit anyone’s taste. Highly recommended both as a family visit or, as i often do, visit on my own too. Staff are extremely friendly and make you feel completely at home.

Lovely little place for a good cup of coffee or light lunch. Great for little ones too as they have some toys and books to keep them busy. 4 starts because they could do with few more vegetarian options on the menu.

We often meet up once a month at Skinny kitten in the evening for drinks and cake, we are a young widows group and skinny kitten have always been so accommodating and friendly from our first ever visit. We sometimes have around 12 of us in the party and have always found the service to be quick and efficient. The range of alcoholic drinks and non alcoholic are good accompanied by great cake what more can I say but thank you skiñny kitten for making us so welcome .

A disappointing full English as bacon and sausages were rather tired and dry. And still only giving 1 'brownie point' stamp for 2 coffees. Whereas if you pay for each cup separately you would get 2 stamps; seems very petty.

A wonderful evening celebrating my daughters 21st Birthday! Steph and her staff were extremely welcoming and her hospitality was outstanding. The beautiful sharing platters were devoured by all our guests and the choices of specialty gins were tried and tested!! I would highly recommend Skinny Kitten for any event or just for a coffee and a cake when passing through.

The decorations were lovely and the service from planning to the end was very good and easy to deal with . Very grateful we all enjoyed the high tea ! As I’m American I had never tried this and it was absolutely beautiful !

Had an excellent full English with very tasty bacon - 2 large meaty slices. And 2 slices of superb granary bread.

We popped into the Skinny Kitten for lunch having been a few times in the past.

Came here on Christmas Eve as a last minute lunch thing. Two girls aged three and five were kept entertained with lots of books and toys and dress up clothes!! So nice to be made to feel welcome with little ones rather than shoved in a corner and frowned upon. Food was lovely. Service was so very friendly. Will definitely be back!!!

Lovely Cafe , our children enjoyed sandwiches with cheese dinosaurs whilst me & my husband had a full English ( the best around ! ) with gluten free toast- washed down with a cheeky mulled wine & a Christmas cocktail. Cosey & very welcoming staff .

Decor from be service fine but the smallest Full English Breakfast in history. I could almost count the number of beans and one tiny sausage, one egg but yayy enough bacon. £6 95 plus extra for coffee. Very poor value for money

Skinny Kitten is a delightful quirky place steeped in history. A bit of a hidden gem with a vintage and modernised twist. Ideal for a quick coffee with a friend, cocktail party or afternoon tea. I cannot thank the staff in their flexibility in organising my daughter's afternoon tea. The chocolate junkyard cake was delicious and looked amazing. Loved the mini milkshakes for the children. We will not hesitate in returning again.

They always supply very good coffees etc and cakes. Is good value, friendly staff and have the daily papers.

Small and cosy and children are most welcome with lots of toys etc in a designated children’s room. Cakes here are excellent. Breakfasts are good as well. It’s very intimate with various areas and nooks and crannies. Also an outside eating area.

My husband and I booked to go for a themed Mexican night. On arrival the staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was lovely. We sat outside in the courtyard and with the Spanish music it was like being on holiday. The staff were very attentive making sure we had drinks and were happy with our food.

Lovely evening, well looked after by all the staff. We were given time between each course, not rushed in any way. Looking forward to hear what the next theme will be. Oh and the two cocktails for £10 is a real treat too.

The Greek themed evening was fantastic. Fabulous 3 course menu with all our meals arriving hot and beautifully presented. We were given a wine list on arrival but as I was driving and my friend not fancying a drink we asked about mocktails, they weren’t on the menu but the lady serving said this wasn’t a problem and knoced together two very frefreshing drinks that complimented our meal well. This is the second time we’ve dined with the skinny kitten on one of their theme nights, last one we attended was a tapas evening back in February where again the meal and service was fantastic. Will certainly be keeping our eye out for further themed evenings.

We visited the cafe recently having not used it for more than a year. We were disappointed to find that even though there had been a refurbishment since we last visited , standards have dropped.

I have visited this cafe before during the day and I love the food, decor and ambiance of this place. So when I realised that they had started to occasionally put on themed nights with food, I couldn’t wait to book. The Greek night was brilliant, the food was fabulous and the cocktails lovely. I would thoroughly recommend The Skinny Kitten and will be booking a return visit for the Mexican night.

Have visited twice this week and both times the service has been great and the food lovely. Porridge particularly good.

6 cyclists from Velo Club Bridgford Nottingham called in for an afternoon cafe stop and found this lovely cafe welcoming and cycle friendly. We sat in the back yard in warm sunshine with bikes secure. We would certainly go again should we be in the area

Called here at the end of an after noon- simply for coffee. Cafe itself is a delightful eccentric building with character! Our limited experience was that prices dearer rather than cheaper- but good quality.

Amazing venue for my 50th birthday drinks. There were approx 40 of us at any one time and the bar staff Hattie and Jo were brilliant and very attentive. I’d prebooked ham and cheese platters with fresh breads, crackers and chutneys and they looked and tasted delicious. All in all a fantastic night, an intimate gathering with friends and family with great food and drink and just how I imagined it would be. Thanks Steph, Sue and all the bar staff. Xx

My vegetarian wife and I visited on Tapas night. Nothing wrong with the place itself or indeed the service(to a point) Food was pre-ordered so we waited expectantly, however when food arrived there were problems with their understanding of ‘Tapas’ and also vegetarians. Firstly both our mushroom dishes came out but both on the same plate, consisted of two small mushrooms hardly enough for one let alone two persons. Similarly Pattas bravas came on a single plate ..... taters yes, bravas definitely not.

We live locally and often pop in for a coffee etc. Good value and friendly staff. The daily newspapers are available.

We have been going to this cafe on and of for the past few years and always enjoyed it. The recent refurbishment is great and the staff are always pleasant. Unfortunately, this Saturday we were really disappointed when we went for brunch.

Gran servicio, generoso tazas de café y muy acogedor. Nos ofrecieron bollos pasteles de rock que estaban en realidad. No es lo que esperábamos, pero muy bueno y venía con mermelada y nata y mantequilla.

No había estado alrededor de un año pero no nos defraudó. Excelente servicio y la calidad del café y tarta.
