Owner was very rude and had a lack of hospitality, was very disrespectful to me and my family. Swearing at us and told us to hurry up and leave when we were helping out the staff cleaning up the area.

Me and my partner booked a table with this restaurant and we experienced horrible treatment from The manager / owner of this shop he was very unprofessional as he swore at us and was very rude and disrespectful towards his own customer also the food was not nice at all either . Must AVOID this restaurant at all cost. waste of money!!! !!!AVOID!!!

Extremely rude & poor service. Manger/owner extremely rude, spoke very unprofessionally with us he even swore on many occasions. I would never go back again as clearly they do not know how to treat customers. Avoid avoid avoid!!!!

What a hidden gem! The food is fabulous and so reasonably priced. My husband is a vegetarian and George went out of his way to cook a beautiful meal for him. Lovely surroundings, if in Brighton please head down to the marina or Preston st and try this great food

We went as a family of 5 for an early lunch. The restaurant was not busy, we had excellent service. The waitress was new, but friendly and made sure she read back our order to avoid errors and checked several times all was well. The other member of staff in chef whites, also checked all was well and asked if we needed extra pitta etc. All food came out at the same time and was piping hot. I had the pork gyros and as I do not like tzatziki they substituted with some hummus with no issue at all. Portions were huge, no complaints from us!! Very patient as we were celebrating a birthday and not made to rush to leave as presents were opened and waitress wished my son in law a happy birthday 🙂

We went for dinner here recently as part of a work night out. The place really couldn't cope with a large party of people and the staff were extremely defensive. Firstly the person on the phone was quite rude to me when trying to pay our deposit (£10 per person). They basically told me off for not picking up my phone. I work in a hospital so can't answer my phone when with patients. They didn't leave any messages either. I emailed them our large group order (17 people) the morning of our meal around 8:30am. None of the staff had checked the emails that day so when we arrived in the evening, they had not prepared anything. Thankfully, I had printed out everyone's orders which the waitress took from me. We arrived around 7:45pm and did not receive all of our starters until 9:15pm. There were some very hangry people in our party by this point. One of our party received his starter and his main at the same time too which was frustrating. From there the service got worse... people's meals were missed out, some of the portions were tiny, you had to ask multiple times for drinks to be served, the staff looked like they didn't have a clue where they were meant to be or what they were meant to do. It was a fairly quiet evening with only about half of the tables full so I don't understand why they were all so frazzled. When complaining about the long wait, the waiting staff became very defensive and no one apologized for the huge delay. The chief also came out and became annoyed at us when we were honest about the food (bits were cold, far too salty, badly presented, meat extremely well done when asked for medium rare, the dips came with no bread etc. etc.) We persuaded them to take 10% off of our bill because we were so unhappy with the service but we will definitely not be returning here again. Shame because the venue is gorgeous and it's a great location.

We booked this restaurant as part of a hen weekend in Brighton. I was put off by some of the reviews I'd read but decided to go ahead in the hope that improvements had been made. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. When we first arrived, we were greeted by a really lovely waitress who showed us to our table but this is where the good service stopped. We waited a while to order drinks and I had to prompt them twice to come and take our food order. There were maybe 4 or 5 other tables of people in the restaurant and 3 waitresses so we shouldn't have waited this long. I asked what the Legumes of the day was, the waitress replied "I don't know, I've only been here a week" then she came back to say "we haven't got one on today which is why I didn't know it". Just really random service. The food took a while to come but there were 8 of us so we appreciated that the chefs have to time everything correctly. One dish was brought out and called something different from what it said on the menu so we said it wasn't ours. When the waitress returned, we asked about the dish and she said it was sometimes called something else but was the thing we'd ordered, so we asked her to bring it back out. She came back to say the chefs had already thrown it away... so wasteful. So, one of our party had to wait 20 minutes for a new meal to be made. No complimentary drinks were offered. The food actually was quite tasty which was good after the experience so far. The owner popped round to say hello and had a bit of banter with the bride-to-be. We were in a bit of a rush to make it to our next activity so I asked for the bill and said we wanted to pay separately. I watched one of the waitresses panic at the till for the next 10 minutes (I presumed because she was trying to work out what we all had individually). She eventually came over and said "all on one card?" to which I obviously said no and also asked whether the £90 deposit had been removed from the bill. She replied "I don't know that you've paid a deposit". At this point, I went over to the till because the bride was starting to notice the issues. The owner then came over and showed the receipt for the deposit to the waitress which was attached to the open page in the diary. I then asked if a service charge had been added to the bill, the waitress said "no, why's that?" and I replied "because if there was one added, I would have wanted it removed for the poor service we've received", to which the waitress said "it's not our fault that the food didn't come out fast". I was actually quite lost for words at this point and said "but it is your fault for calling a dish the wrong name and then throwing it away causing a 20 minute wait for one of our party". Needless to say, we wouldn't return here if we went back to Brighton - they desperately need to work on their customer service skills.

We came as a family of 6 with a baby for a birthday meal. Service was very good and friendly. We all had different dishes from the menu and all were great tasting, good quality and generous portions. Would definitely recommend for good Greek cuisine!

Felt like we were given rations, not generous with the portions. We ordered the lamp chops(barely any meat on it and so tough/chewy) pork stew and courgette fritters. Would not recommend even the wine tasted cheap. Outside view was gorgeous and service was good but food wise 3/10.

Probably the worst culinary experience in my life. Food was disgusting. Worst octopus I've ever tried. My mistake - marina was very busy but this place was completely empty. Avoid!

Excellent food. I had lamb chops, which were cooked to perfection. Fully of flavour and beautifully presented. The service was faultless, with 4 people coming over to check everything was ok. The waiter had a smile on his face and couldn’t have been more helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone. 10/10

I visited Skara last night with a group of friends. On arrival I went toilet which smelt very unpleasant then found there was no toilet paper. No excuse as the venue wasn't busy. We were shown to our table and given menus which on paper looked. The waiter was really friendly and took our order for drinks and starters. Although the everything looked OK, it all lacked flavour. The staff were wondering around with no direction of where other customers food should be going and we waited and waited for our starters to cleared and to order our main meals. Eventually we had to ask someone to clear our plates and request our drunks to be replenished. We ordered our main meals which sadly didn't improve. My Seabass was piping hot but the fries were cold, hard and looked like they had been kicking around since lunchtime. Two of my friends sent their roast lamb back as that was also cold and the potatoes looked disgusting. Another friend left all her lamb as it was salty and my other friend did actually eat all her Greek Salad but there were no prizes for presentation! After a very disappointing experience I asked to see the manager. He came out dressed in chef whites and as we told him what elements we found to be below par, he became quite rude and defensive. He obviously has no idea how to accept criticism and lacks any kind of customer service skills. We left only paying for our starters and drinks and will never return again. Such a shame as the venue itself is lovely and located on the heart if Brighton Marina gives it a real Mediterranean vibe.

Fantastic food, great service and good atmosphere. We had three different starters and four different mains. They were all so good we wished we had bigger stomach. My personal favourite were the pork sausages.

After well over an hour wating for food we said to cancel it. Rather than just saying OK, the staff member wanted to make this into a confrontation. Apparently we should have ordered food when we arrived, not later on. This place is a pub, by the way. It's not a restaurant. Weird.

La última vez que visité no me impresionó mucho, pero la Batalla era el pub en la zona para ir a entonces. El hecho de que la batalla haya cambiado ha significado que el borracho exigente tiene que explorar otras opciones. Las bebidas previas al partido del sábado fueron muy agradables. Clientela muy agradable, personal decente del bar que atendió rápidamente. Comida en barra, los mejores rollos de salchichas que vas a conseguir en cualquier parte de Brighton a un precio muy razonable. Es la nueva batalla.

This is truly one of the best cafes in Brighton! And the biscotti cake is incredible .... Always such a lovely friendly vibe too.

Absolutely wonderful place. Greeted by a really friendly owner who was very accommodating and helpful. And lovely staff. The cakes are divine and the vegan burger with slaw was one of the best things I'd eaten. Had amazing coffee too. Will return.
