Staff and regulars made me very welcome. Excellent home cooked food, great value. Local beer on draught was excellent quality. Very welcoming pub, the outside doesn’t do it justice!

Had a great meal. Local butcher supplied the sirloin steak which was delicious. The wife enjoyed her hunters chicken as well. All side dishes were cooked fresh and washed down with their selection of wine and ales. Lucky to have this as my local..

Very friendly pub, the staff and locals were very welcoming. We had a lovely Sunday carvery, very tasty and good price too. Lovely atmosphere , we enjoyed a few drinks and few games of pool. A very special mention to bar staff Aiden, a true gent, he was so lovely and kind and went out of his way to ensure we got home. I recommend the Sitwell Arms and will definitely return if in the area again.

Popped in while staying elsewhere in the village. We had a really warm welcome from the landlord and regulars. Post lockdown the menu was limited but we had a good curry and steak. Had to send the first beer back, which was changed without complaint, subsequent few beers were fine. A friendly local pub. Thanks for making us welcome.

I live very close to the Sitwell Arms and this is great. Normally a ‘cook dinner at home’ person, I can pop to the Sitwell and get great, home-cooked food when I don’t want to cook. Last Thursday evening I went with friends to the Pie n Pint evening. Wow the fish pie was amazing, accompanied by home cut chips and veg. Judy lovely. Friends had the steak and ale- equally great. Being a greedy beast, I arranged to meet friends for Sunday lunch. Had the beef - local and very tasty. Pork was apparently lovely too. Wine was good - I normally have one too many - and though not a beer drinker, was assured that it was good too. Always welcomed like family and appreciate that. See you Thursday folks

The Rotary Club of Knighton and District decided to try the Sitwell Arms in Bucknell for occasional Wednesday lunchtime meetings. It’s great to have a cosy dining room to ourselves (up to 28 members).. Steve and his staff are very welcoming and his pub meals are delicious and filling. Nicely priced beers. Real “school dinners” steak pie followed by apple pie, custard or ice cream! Nice clean pub with a couple of bars available so we don’t frighten the locals! It’s become a regular monthly meeting place. If you’d like to join us just google Knighton Rotary. Other clubs and pubs are available but you’d be missing out!

We visited the pub on the Friday and sat in the Beer Garden so the dog could have a play. We enquired about Sunday lunch and were advised to book for the carvery. We booked after they said it was ok to take the dog in.It was very tasty. It's a nice sized pub and seems very friendly. The carvery cost £8,95 each and if you wanted a dessert it was quite cheap too.

We stopped here for a drink and some crisps with our dog. We were pleased to see an nice big enclosed garden and as no one else was there we had him on his long training lead and we played ball with him. Wine was nice and fairly priced and the service was good :) We almost came back to eat but were short of time. Good pub for dog owners :)

Undergoing a transition at present, the best outfit in Bucknell is currently being chef-ed by the owner, who knows what he's doing. Passed the 'can you do something which isn't on the menu?' test just as well as a French relais. Lovely welcome, toothsome beef baguettes on a Sunday and decent wines. We'll be back.

I came to the Sitwell after a long day at work, expecting a decent meal, however to my disgust I did not find this. The food was tepid, the service was shocking, overall my experience at the Sitwell was appalling, I will not be recommending this, nor will I be returning.

After doing a 140 mile Charity car run that started at The Sitwell in the morning and finishing there at 5pm, we had a fantastic roast dinner to welcome us back. The food was very good value for money and the service was excellent. The only negative is that I feel the pub needs updating. Very dated decor!

On a beautiful August Tuesday, myself, my Mum and our friend decided we would go out for lunch. In this area, not everywhere is open weekday lunchtimes, so I called first to see if they were serving, having been before a couple of years ago. I did not know that the restaurant side of the business was now under different management, but having done a quick search here on Trip Advisor, the reviews looked good so we booked in for 1pm and off we went. We were greeted by Amy, a lovely happy lady behind the bar. She was so friendly and couldn't do enough to help (thanks Amy!) We then went to sit in the beer garden and choose our meals. We all decided on the two courses for £10 menu. My Mum went for the ham and new potatoes, our friend went for the cod and chips, and me being a pain, I wanted something fairly healthy as I have been trying (and succeeding!) to lose weight, so I asked could I possibly have the pear and blue cheese salad from the starter menu, but made main course size? Andy was only too happy to oblige (thank you Andy!) Our meals came out, brought to us by Lydia, who was a happy and friendly person and who also said it wasn't a problem to do the salad for me (thanks Lydia!). I was just so grateful, as anybody who has ever dieted and eaten out will I'm sure appreciate! Anyway, everything was absolutely delicious! Each meal was well presented and smelt wonderful, and I can honestly say it tasted every bit as good as it looked! 3 very happy people! For afters, the ladies had Eton Mess, and Andy again very kindly made me a fruit salad of strawberries, pineapple and pears! Not on the menu at all, but enabled me to have 'pud' along with the others! Everything was truly wonderful and I just can't say enough good things. We are already determined to go back asap to try the evening menu, which looks gorgeous. Andy (chef) came out to chat to us after lunch and he was so enthusiastic and passionate about his food, which was really lovely to see. He clearly cares greatly about what he serves. Highly recommended!

Tidy, even if not very attractive restaurant. Food basically all right, and not too expensive, waiter was friendly but overburdened with two tables to serve - what might been the situation with four tables full of customers?

Dados was recommended to us for lunch. we ate from the two courses for £10 menu. poached pear and Shropshire blue cheese starter superb, butternut squash risotto very tasty, my partner had soup and a roll a staple on the menu he said it was very tasty, he had ham and boiled potatoes with parsley sauce, lovely except he would have liked it served with seasonal veg and not a bit of side salad. we will return to try other dishes on the menu.

After having the huge privilege of a pre-opening meal, I knew that Bucknell was in for something special when Dado's Bistro opened. Having now sampled two Sunday lunches - and we are booked in for next week already - a weekday lunch today, bar snacks and Grill menu, they have not disappointed. Chatting to other customers, both local and visiting, has only brought positive feedback with lots of praise for marvellous food.Andy McGettigan's food is fantastic. The best fillet steak I have ever tasted. And the prices are reasonable. Great Restaurant Menu, Grill Menu, retro Bar Snacks in a basket and Lunchtime regular and specials. We have excellent eating places within reach of Bucknell: Ludlow, Leintwardine and Aymestrey for example, but Andy's food happily competes with any of it, and at 'Bucknell prices'.The retro-themed restaurant is spotless, welcoming and overseen by Andy's wife Lydia, a warm, smiling, happy and hugely efficient personality who seems to be everywhere.Great place which deserves real recognition - Telegraph Restaurant Reviewers where are you??

Honestly the best pub meal I've had in years! The steak and Guinness pie was delicious and chips better than many chippies. How they do that with bargain prices baffles me. Highly recommend

Went for the first secret diner club evening that is run by Jess who owns the fab 'not today seitan' in liar liar..what can i say?.the food was on another level. Litrally the best vegan food in Oswestry and way surpasses anything else available in a vegan cafe in Oswestry. The food was beautifully presented, the flavours were amazing and the cocktails were beautiful too. Really hope the owner decides to run these evenings on a regular basis although once word gets around i imagine getting a table will be really difficult. Its great to see a vibrant young business do so well and honestly the co trading with Liar liar is such a brilliant idea. Two amazing businesses running side by side. I cannot recommend this highly enough, the best vegan resturant/cafe in town by far
