An excellent pub which has such charm. We often come on an evening to have one drink, and end up staying for multiple because it’s such a nice atmosphere. The log fire in winter is just gorgeous. Especially love the Thursday pub quiz and the new owners are fantastic, such a welcoming environment!

This pub, in my opinion, is one of the few genuine gems which remain in the city. A proper pub always serving a great selection of ales with a suitable but simple food offering to complement the drinks menu. A really characterful building which I hope can be preserved amongst the faceless concrete developments around it. I only wish I lived closer and I would drink there more often.

Fantastic local pub, that’s recently been taken over by new management and they’re working wonders on the place! Absolutely chilled atmosphere inside with plenty of cosy seating, smoking area and garden outside. Lovely fireplaces that are lit during the colder months. Ample selection of beers on tap and bottles. Plus everything is an absolute bargain!

Great traditional pub...Glen and Caz are super friendly. Held friends Retirement party there last month. Cold buffet that Glen and Caz laid on was delish...deffo value for money, plenty of variety and hot buffet choice looks great too! Great atmosphere with nice little beer garden....bonus! Deffo a must to visit and sample; including the liquid menu too...great variety! Thank you both for your hospitality 😀

Just started to re use this pub again on match days since being taken over. They’ve got it spot on with serving simple cobs and proper puka pies ( unlike the piglets things they now sell down king power). Perfect before and after the match. This is a big factor of our visits now .

Great little pub renewed under new landlords. Cazz and Glen absolutely make this place mixing previous regulars with the newer crowd coming in for the increasing range of offerings including food, quizzes and more! Solid food offering at a very reasonable price. Blown away by the chilli topped nachos my friend ordered they looked absolutely insane. Good range of drinks including all the usual suspects and some more interesting ales etc. Definitely give it a visit!

One of those pubs with that 'your 2nd living room feel'. No wonder it as already a nice level of full early evening on a Wednesday. Best pint of ale I've had in a while: Everards Phoenix. Landlady was lovely too.

Glen and Caz have done a smashing job since they took over. I visit many pubs and you rarely get more than your order at the bar and a friendly hello/enjoy. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s just these two go above and beyond to make you feel incredibly welcome and it’s somewhere I now frequently visit and prioritise over other establishments. Constantly adding great new additions as well such as food, darts, open mic and quizzing whilst also allowing plenty of opportunity for a quiet drink as well. These are exactly the sort of landlords the city needs.

Spent the evening in this lovely pub celebrating my birthday. The new landlords (Glen & Carolyn) are an amazingly friendly couple and made us very welcome. The atmosphere in there is just perfect; great background music, warm log fire and drinks aplenty. Bar staff (Jade) attentive and the wonderful pub dog Chester for company. Thanks for a great evening; we’ll definitely be back!

Since the new owners - Glen and caz - took over in December 2023, I have seen huge difference. Love to see local pub getting busy and they really do make you feel welcomed. The atmosphere don't feel somber. There's alot of fun and banter with the owners/locals. They host fun quizes on Thursday night! I recommend visiting them and show the support.

Myself and my partner have been going to the Robert peel pub for 18 years, as it's our local. The new owners Caz and glen what a breath of fresh air, they are welcoming, friendly such a great atmosphere, Chester the family dog he's absolutely gorgeous so friendly but is an old dog who likes to lay by the fire, Thursday quiz nights are fun great atmosphere. Great music, back ground music. Great pub would highly recommend this pub, also all the bar staff are so friendly but one in particular is jade who also is a great person.

I would never normally post a review when I haven’t visited the premises for a year since new owners have taken over. However, there are some very confusing messages which are actually misleading. Last month, I asked a question on Google as to whether dogs are still permitted. Now, I am very much a technophobe so honestly, I don’t know the difference between asking a question on Google and finding an email to contact someone. After no response to my question, I had my more technologically abled friend find me a “contact form” which then enabled me to have a conversation with the owner “Glen”, who informed me that if I was trying to get a hold of the previous owner, this message had obviously been “lost in translation” - I don’t know what was lost in translation about asking if dogs are still allowed , but maybe he meant because the previous owners had Scottish accents? Again, my question was not answered. So I persevered and asked again whether our large group would still be able to attend with the dogs? We had done so the previous year and had a fabulous time with great food and drink and conversation with the owners. This was met with a response that our group could be booked in, but no dogs as their dog was aging. I responded saying that was a shame, as the previous owners had accommodated us, despite their dog not particularly taking to all visiting dogs- so we would have to bypass the Peel on this occasion. All we were asked to do on previous visit was to keep to a specified area and the dogs on the lead. This was met by another response making excuses that the dog was old and deserved his retirement by the fire. This was understandable if not a little frustrating and extreme- never mind the income lost on a weekend with no sport (we specifically planned our visit for that weekend as we knew the pub would be quieter compared to football and rugby). The landlord had also explained to us previously that hot meals are not available on match days. My frustration and anger were picqued when I wandered on to the pubs Facebook page to find lots of pictures of the pub dog and absolutely nothing about other dogs no longer being allowed. The fact that you have those images AND Google still shows that dogs are allowed is misleading. If the new owners feel unable to accommodate a large group, they should have been honest and said so. Thank goodness I did check or that would have been a wasted journey from Frome.

Popped in for New Year's Eve after the Tigers game on the last day of an epic three day Rugby tour throughout England. This was without a doubt the best pub I found during all my travels. I visited Sir Robert Peel to have lunch with friends. The menu is quite broad and service is attentive and courteous. The pub is cosy and, even if small, very accommodating. The manager asked us to preorder the day before our visit. When we arrived and sat at the table, we only waited for a few minutes before having our meals. I had fish (haddock) and chips while friends had fish fingers sandwiches - a quite popular and tasty option offered by staff. However, fish and chips could've been prepared with more attention and served more dignitously. The haddock was slightly overcooked and a tad dry in the inside. Chips were tasty, but not exceptional. More importantly, they didn't look hand cut. The menu presented the fish and chips as accompanied by coleslaw. This was not provided. Lastly, the menu was a tad overpriced if one considers the setting of the establishment (an industrial area close to public offices). In conclusion, a good place to have a pint, but food and offers can be improved.

For swearing… in a pub.. gobsmacked. What does she do on a match day when there’s 100 blokes chanting songs in her ‘home’.. will never step foot in that place again hope the old witch drops dead. EDIT: thanks for reply landlady truth hurts doesn’t it! No wonder your home is empty everyday apart from couple of hours before the football! Would help if you could pour a pint your beer is rank and watered down!! Btw it’s your not you’re dumbo learn English!

Staff were very friendly but I have a serious concern/problem with the menu. I'm a vegan and I have had bad reactions to dairy when I've consumed it by accident. I was delighted to hear from a friend that this pub had a vegan option! I ordered the "Veggie spicy bean burger - V & VE" from the menu. When it arrived, it came with dairy cheese on it so I had to send it back and was told by staff that if you are vegan, you're supposed to declare this at the bar so that they don't put cheese on it - This isn't stated anywhere on the menu. The ladies behind the bar explained that it was just the burger patty that is vegan so if I wanted it vegan I should have told them when ordering. I had to send it back but i'm suspicious that the spread used on the bun was not dairy free either. This is wrong, misleading and most importantly, dangerous to people who have serious allergies - If someone orders a vegan friendly burger like it says on the menu; that person should expect the dish in its entirety to be fully vegan. I suggest/urge you to check your ingredients for this particular dish and amend your menu to have a disclaimer in order to avoid any confusion or misleading future visitors. Thank you.

Ordered the tiramisu via ubereats as really been wanting one for ages. Very disappointed purchase especially as I could only order either 1/2 or the whole cake. The tiramisu was nothing like you would expect it was more like a vanilla cake and very dry, with a layer of chocolate. Not the moist or anything like a tiramisu, very cake like at all. Waste of money and food. Avoid if you are after an actual tiramisu and not some very expensive vanilla cake with a layer of chocolate. Very disappointed wish I had ordered something completely different.

We visited here today and ordered 5 drinks and 3 mince pies. Everything came out one at a time, about 5 minutes apart with the last drink arriving at our table 35 minutes after we arrived, hence the first 2 drinks to be served had been well and truly polished off by then.I watched my coffee sit for 5 minutes after the 'coffee' button had been pressed, getting cold before it was given to me. It was not that busy either. Very disappointing, dread to think how long food would take, shall not be returning.
