Sindhoor in Bury

We visited Sindhoor restaurant for dinner over the weekend with friends. The ambiance of Sindhoor Restaurant is cozy, with beautiful decor that transports you to India, offering a glimpse of its rich culture. The soft, traditional music playing in the background added to the overall charm of the place. The service was prompt and they ensured that every need was met, and the food arrived at our table promptly. We ordered Chicken Chettinad in non-vegetarians and Paneer Butter Masala in vegetarian. The paneer dish was delicious and I didn't feel the chicken dish was authentic. The Chicken Kottu Paratha was awesome 💯. Overall the dining experience at Sindhoor restaurant was good.

Nice south indian selection with authentic flavours. Only resteraunt in Manchester I've seen with Pomfret fish on the menu - it was delicious.

If you like the idea of authentic Indian or rather Keralan food, then try Sindhoor. I’ve not been for a few years but we went this week and the simple restaurant belies the terrific fresh spicy, tasty food. The waitresses I think are the daughters of the owner (chef? ) and they are delightful, offering advice about the dishes. We shared a masala dosa and I had a fish curry which is served with a thick tapioca alternative to rice. Seriously delicious and spicy. Dave had a lamb curry with rice- equally good. We didn’t manage to finish the servings so the remainder we shall enjoy tonight. We had a Cobra beer with the meal and left very satisfied. Will recommend to others and aim to revisit soon.

The restaurant was opend recently and the kerala food options are great and they serve real kerala parotta. Not the frozen parotta like the usual Indian restaurants.

There is nothing in this address or place. Went 2 times on the given post code to this place with family within a week on Friday and sunday. They were closed. I don't know why the hell they are not updating if they are closed.

✨ One of the best restaurants for South Indian Dishes ✨ Definitely give it a try. We tried so many different places but this one is just delicious and amazing 🤩 Their staff were so nice. We ordered 4 different dishes but Dosa is perfectly 10/10 ⭐ even the rest of the items were soo good and tasty as well.

The chicken biryani lacked chicken and without any notice added a service charge to the bill. The place is unpredictable.. you never quite know if it's going to be open or closed..

Sort of a rare gem, since this is like the only dine-in option for malayali/Kerala food in the Manchester area. The taste is authentic and warm customer service. Would recommend.

Delicious food, friendly service, and clean, welcoming atmosphere. My boyfriend and I decided to try Sindhoor out for my birthday and it was a real treat. I had the Sindhoor special dosa for starter and the lamb biryani for main. The dosa was amazing, especially the sauces that came with it, and the biryani was good too. Only thing I could fault was the lamb, which was perhaps a little fatty for my liking, but my boyfriend enjoyed the bit I shared with him. Overall a fantastic evening and reasonably priced too.

The food was lovely and the staff too.

Impressed me the first time, but not the second.... # Biryani was terrible - rice was dry and the lamb a bit salty. Was told of parking space behind the hotel, when called was given a postcode where I could park my car, ended up scratching my car trying to get out of the tight parking space behind. Never again!!

Popped in tonight with my son. Rang first to check availability. Just pop along they said. This place in opposite Slatterys cake shop in Whitefield, Manchester. Our server was brilliant. He took our order, the starters was hot and timely ins the quality chutney tray. If anyone goes out and wants food in 5 seconds you should stay in and cook your frozen pizza. Our mains, I asked for a down spice from 2 to 1. I think I have found my new dish. My son did eat 75%, he over did his ordering and to be honest, over generous portions he put it down to. To say this place is less than half a mile from my house and never tried it means to me, try local. Well done everyone who works there and no I am not a paid for reviewer. Try for yourself.

Yesterday I visited the restaurant and ordered few items, all were delicious and finally satisfied with that. The staffs were pleasant and the hospitality very good, the ambience pretty good. I'd like visit the place again.

This place is seriously good! We love how the dishes are authentically south indian, we especially like the beef coconut fry and the homemade parrotas. The staff are super kind and helpful too, a true hidden gem!

With Sindhoor it is a little hit and miss. Know this restaurant from years and had relatively good opinion of them. However takeaways generally are really bad. Our recent takeaway order was awful, two curries with not many ingredients in it, dosa was tasteless and everything was watery.... the worst order so far.

Absolutely delicious meal enjoyed here last night. Fabulous choice of authentic South Indian dishes, great service too! We hadn’t tried it in a while and were delighted to see what the new team have done here. It’s without doubt Whitefield’s best kept culinary secret. The music and freshly updated decor make you feel transported to Goa, this place is a must!

Since I'm from the Indian subcontinent I'm fully aware of the taste of the south Indian food. I can happily recommend the authenticity of the food is proper South Indian. Service was excellent and compliment goes to Soujan the waitress and the chef.

Authentic indian food at its best Always fantastic food

I used to expect only the best at Sindhoor. However, there has been a mild but visible decline in the quality of their food. The Kerala parathas are a bit rubbery and hard instead of the previously melt in your mouth freshness associated with them. The butter chicken was bland and not really authentic. And perhaps what irked me most was the turtle speed at which our food arrived. The server did apologise, blaming staffing issues for the slow service. They have continued to maintain the standard of their South Indian dishes. The kumarakom fish curry was divine and dosas, Sambar or vadas will leave you happily satisfied. Here's to better days at Sindhoor.

Authentic South Indian - Kerala food, I can confirm because I was from Kerala(south india), very clean and neat place to dine out. Very welcoming people. Food is really good, specially those who love spicy food. You could ask to them give you authentic food. There are many non veg and vegetarian food. Recently they renovated the place and place looks awesome, so I am posting couple pictures with my review. This who looking for the South Indian Kerala food, this is the place for you!

Lovely place with a wonderful ambience. The staff are very friendly. We went there for the authentic kerala (south indian) flavour and feel. Mentioned it to the team, and they made sure they spoke to us in malayalam. Halal available. Just ask for it. Must tries : beef coconut fry (best i have tried in UK), kumarakom prawns curry, appam and mutton stew, beef mappas. This is our second visit here and they made sure we returned with a smile!!!

Excellent restaurant, don't be fooled by the size or decor. I love this place, the food is excellent. You will not waste anything and will definitely be going back. Really reasonable and really tasty. By far this is the best South Indian restaurant I've been to.

Great South India food.. I would like to say authentic as they are more close to what we get it in South India and also they make it to the spice levels that you request for... We enjoyed eating there.. Will be back for more..

Big surprise. Great Indian food. Not your usual Indian food.

A number of friends and I visited,we had pompadoms to start,there was no chutney tray you got chopped onions with chilie and yoghurt and mint. I had the lamb chops to start which were mildly spiced,quite tasty with a little side salad. There was only one lager and no other alternatives We ordered our main course,I ordered the laal Maas along with one of my other friends. The main courses arrived for all of my other friends except mine and my other friend who ordered the same. We thought nothing of it initially but as ten minutes went by we enquired as to where our main course was ! The waitress replied that we hadn’t ordered the laal Maas and that the chef would take another ten or 15 minutes to make the order,the other guys had finished their food by the time my food was ready,the fellow who ordered the same as I had to be at work for 4am and couldn’t stay any longer. We had to have the order to take out! The decor was neutral but warm,the carpet up to the loo was extremely grubby with people tracking dirt upstairs. The public facilities could do with a complete refurbishment the cistern was very loose! The menu is different from the normal run of the mill Indian restaurant and hats off to them for trying. More effort needed I’m afraid!

Very disappointing. I hate being negative about a business but I couldn't in all honesty recommend this restaurant. This place has so much potential to bring a different type of Indian cuisine to the folks of Manchester, it's a shame. Someone I know raved about Sindoor quoting its unusual Southern Indian cuisine, so I looked forward to a visit. Not the friendliest of welcomes, the decor is ok but don't look behind the scenes if you're of a nervous disposition. The menu has a decent selection of dishes. I asked my waiter to help me choose some typical dishes which he did. First course was deep fried spicy mash potato balls with a watery coconut sauce. These were quite bland and soon became a little boring. Waiting for my next course took so long that I literally struggled to stay away in the empty restaurant with its dim soporific lighting. Eventually my lamb and fennel curry arrived. Sauce was nice but the lamb tasted like it had been pre- boiled until it had lost most of its flavour and was not particularly tender. My curry was served with a Kerala Parotta, a kind of layered pancake that was crispy on the outside with a raw tasting unseasoned interior. The highlight of my experience was the half of Corrs lager which was excellent. The waiter was very apologetic citing many reasons why the food was below par. As I paid for my meal at the bar, the goldfish seemed to be eyeballing me intensely through the slightly murky water and mouthing some kind of message, It was probably my imagination but they seemed to be forming the words 'We tried to tell you to run'. If only I'd listened.

This place used to be good. I'm sure it's changed owners. It was terrible we waited over an hour and still no food! They prioritised just eat delivery. Walked out along with everyone else. Still hungry!@

Service very poor food was okay

Small portions; slow service; heating not working (in mid December!) and insufficient place settings for the table booked. Needs a good clean too. All a bit shambolic really. Had some great times and meals here in the past. This certainly wasn't one of them. What has happened here?!

Good food and proper Indian restaurant

Really lovely food. Hubby has always been reluctant to go but after some persuasion we went. Wow! Food was fresh and tasty, we just had lots of small plates and everything was yummy we will definitely go back.

This was an amazing restaurant for my kids and myself! I personally thinks it’s the best Indian food I’ve tasted from the whole of Manchester! What a fabulous experience and I think I’m definitely coming back!

Poor service. Left after 2 hours when our mains still had not been served. No reduction in bill for starters offered as compensation. I paid just over £45 for the 2 cocktails, 1 bottle of wine and 5 prawns each.

Super authentic Indian food. This in my mind is the best Indian in the north of Manchester. Some very different things - pomfret fish wrapped in banana leaf being one. Parking in the area is sparse. If you don't like it too spicy tell them and they will moderate the chilli. Give it a go I don't think you will be disappointed
