Indigo in Bury

After reading the recent reviews, I wasnt really looking forward to coming back for a second visit. We came last night (Wednesday) at 6.30. restaurant was very quiet (it soon got busier) My husband and I opted for the buffet. Lots of choice and fresh. Other reviews said the food was cold - this was NOT the case last night. Staff were professional and attentive and were keen for us to try everything. We were not offered lamb chops, so unsure if these are still on offer. Dessert choice slightly disappointing but fine. Could do with a better quality ice cream. If you are a vegetarian or fish eater, I would suggest you opt for something off the menu and not have the buffet. I think the only fish option on the buffet was pakora.

Great food for eat in, pick up, or delivery. Since moving it's a bit far away now. But still use/go occasionally and still great food.

The buffet has a variety of curry styles. The appetizers and fried snacks are very attractive. Ice cream and cakes are also available. The restaurant environment is good and the staff are very friendly. It is worth a visit👍👍

Amazing place just wish doggy bags for food that is already on your plate at the end of your meal was allowed

Great service, but the food was a complete let down as it had a limited variety and the curry’s had definitely been re used from the day before hence the awful taste across all curries. The starters were decent but were definitely full of oil which wasn’t the real issue but just the limitation and choice of options eg, cash and carry frozen food. The desert station was better than the mains+starter. For the price I would recommend better buffet around and it definitely needs massive changes by taking inspiration from competitors as it’s not a place that makes you want to come back. Also with nearly all the dishes not tasting good enough was a let down. Amazing service from staff, I’d like to say.

Food is lovely and fresh and polite staff

I ordered a takeaway as I was by myself for the weekend. I have had quite a few meals in the restaurant as well as takeaways. I was so very disappointed with what I received. I ordered the meal deal for 1. I received 4 onion bhajis, 2 popadoms and pickles. Lamb madras and naan bread. Plenty for 2 meals. The order came a bit late (20 minutes). It was stone cold. I had to re warm half of it. The madras was the worst I have had. I always gave madras as it is usually the right heat for me. However I could only manage a couple of fork fulls. It was extremely hot. Today I gave the other half to my daughter who eats vindaloos and phalls. She couldn’t eat it. She stated that the spices tasted raw and she could even smell them. This was a waste of 19.99 in total with delivery costs. This has put me off ordering a takeaway from them again.

Bland cold food Do not rate this place. Although Staff were very good and welcoming Tiktok brought us here, but it was just a hype.

We had the unlimited buffet which includes starters, mains and desserts. They had alot of great options available. Fresh salad with a range of sauces. Huge range of starters. Veg somosas, chicken rolls, poppadoms, pokoras, onion bajis, fish pokoras and about 8 types of chicken from nuggets to grilled drumsticks. There was a huge range of curries vegetarian a and meats. Went great with unlimited rice, pillau, chips and nan. Food was hot which was great...it was buffet food so not going to blow your socks off but had delicious Bangladeshi flavours and seasoned perfectly. They also gave us a huge plate of fresh sheesh kebab and huge lamb chops. Huge range of ice cream and desserts for a buffet so save space. Kids loved it. The best part was the amazing service. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Amazing bunch of people had a great experience. I see why this place is popular. The deco was lovely too, kids loved the fish tank and were spoilt with the chocolates at the end. Defo try. Free huge car park in the back x

Can't fault it at all. I've never been for a meal on Christmas day as my tradition is to cook...my husbands is to go for a meal, we've compromised & always cooked...this year he put his foot down & said no, (as it's also my birthday Xmas day) so he gave me a few menus from local restaurants & told me to choose, I've always wanted to try Indigo so figured why not go. I'm so glad we did, the food was beautiful, the staff were all so friendly & helpful. Only one negative & that's the fact I couldn't eat any more as I was stuffed haha. I don't drink alcohol either & there were a few mocktails to choose from (not just 1 or 2 like alot of places). We will definitely be coming back for the buffet in 2025, them fish pakoras & the mango ice cream were fantastic!!!

Just eaten here 16 of us and can honestly sy the food was AMAZING..staff were lovely..nothing to much trouble..atmosphere was lovely..1st time I've eaten there ..will definitely be going again xx̌

Best Indian in town! Tick all the boxes. We don’t bother with any other Indian restaurant/takeaway. This is by far the best. High recommended.

We’ve been coming to Indigo since we moved to Bury in 2012, in all that time we’ve never had a bad meal, or a mediocre meal, this is a fantastic achievement from Ziggy and the staff, the wonderful chefs and the extensive menu showcasing dishes from all corners of India, Goa and Sri Lanka, we recently went for the buffet but found it not as inspiring as the many dishes we’ve tried over the years so this time it was the Chettinad and Achari, both delicious with yummy spices and lime pickle, washed down with a bottle of Ozzy Chardonnay, at less than £50 for starters too it’s great value. Always a warm welcome from the guys and we’ll keep returning, the next visit will be on 22nd December for a big pre- Xmas takeaway. Thanks all of you for yet another wonderful experience.

Starters are a no, the curries 👍🏻 the fresh naan and the ice cream are good. The mock tails fab to though I think should b £2 less as they contain no alcohol. Horne made cake and extra kebab/ lamb chops you can order are delicious. The picky bits and started which the kids go far just waste space and could do with an upgrade for the maximum stars

Service was brilliant for a busy Saturday night. Asked to move tables due to getting a breeze and there was no problem with that and moved us to another table. Constantly checking if everything was okay, if wanting more drinks. Food was always fresh and kept coming out nothing was cold all very hot and tasty. Would definitely recommend coming.

It was the frist time my husband and I have been to the Inidgo restaurant it was lovely I couldn't fault anytime it was my husbands birthday not only was the staff and food lovely but no they even brought him a beautiful piece of cake with a candel and was singing happy birthday it was lovely we will be going offen with family and friends too thank you to the staff .

I order takeaway from here regularly and it’s always delicious. The service is always fast, the drivers friendly, and I love the taste. Keep up the great work.

I cannot say anything negative about the food, as every single dish was fantastic. Wow, I am so impressed with this place and will definitely be back! I loved the design and decorations. Only thing I would mention is the food labels, I think a woman’s touch is missing, I would invest in some food labels so you can see clearly which dish you are putting on your plate. As I struggled to see which dish I am trying but saying that, all of the food is worth trying :)

I recently visited this buffet restaurant, and I was thoroughly disappointed. The menu displayed on Google Maps is completely misleading—you can expect to find only about 10% of what’s shown. Even worse, the small amount of food they do serve is of incredibly poor quality. For example, if you opt for the mutton dish, you'll mostly get potatoes (90% potatoes, 10% mutton, if that!). If you’re expecting authentic Indian cuisine, you’ll be sorely let down. There wasn’t even a basic biryani, something you'd find at most Indian buffets. The rest of the food? Let’s just say it’s not worth mentioning. Now, let's talk about the desserts—oh wait, there are none. Yes, you read that right. No desserts to speak of, despite being advertised. As for the ice cream? It’s nothing but frozen chunks of ice—not actual ice cream. To make matters worse, the staff have no concept of customer service. They show ego and attitude, and clearly lack basic manners. They don’t even bother to ask if you have any allergies, which is concerning. Finally, don’t trust their Instagram videos—they are clearly misleading. Save your time and money, and go elsewhere.

I asked for vanilla ice cream but was served coconut ice cream instead. When I pointed this out, the staff casually replied, "It's coconut." Even after explaining that it was the wrong order, their response was indifferent, saying, "It's fine" They showed no concern for my feelings or the fact that I could have been allergic. It was a terrible experience overall.

Absolute disgrace of a place. 18 of us for a party where the food was of a mediocre standard. They can’t fit the people in that have booked and then proceed to slate their customers for not leaving to other customers that have had to wait. Definitely would not recommend on a Sunday.

Everything in the menu is tasty. But staff are bit rude and they were rushing customers to leave early. Apart from that food is good. I called them to book a table but they said to walk in. When we reached there security didn't allow us and when we explained everything then he allowed us and staff is coming to our table to notify about time that we have to leave. Half of the menu they removed one hour before.

Saw this place on TikTok so I decided to give it a try, we was greeted by Nahid an outstanding host and made the experience enjoyable. He is a fantastic waiter we would recommend this place and also highly recommend Nahid to everyone!

Enjoyed an amazing experience at their buffet service. Food was lovely. Mocktails were on-point. Would come again if im ever back in bury. Desserts range to end the dinner was amazing from cheesecakes, cakes, ice creams and more. 10/10.

Great staff, nice restaurant! Not up to the standard I’m used to when eating out when it comes to the food unfortunately. The main issue was the food in the buffet trays was cold & I had been warned by a friend don’t have the buffet it’s usually cold. The starters was nice & there was some fish in the starter section in small pieces. There was quite a variety. The mains were tasty but just seemed cold. Some of the dishes of the milder variety had a bit of a kick (maybe chilli added) which I didn’t appreciate as I don’t like & am not used to having such a spice added to a mild dish. I also had the soup that could have been a bit thicker provided that didn’t take away the taste. I think on hindsight chilli may have been added as maybe in earlier reviews people may have complained about bland food. I was not impressed with the desserts it was not nice vanilla ice cream & most restaurant use the cheaper Asda time vanilla that is delicious but not here. All the variety of ice cream is in bulk tubs. All in all I was not impressed & won’t be back, the restaurant is nice & the staff were helpful & lovely but I do prefer curry houses where they are of the Bangladesh variety personally.

I was welcomed by one of the waiters named aqil he was very polite and sat us down, we couldn’t believe this place did cocktails. The buffet was very big and had various options would 100% come again!!!

Been going here for years (they used to do two for one selections and the food was always perfect). All change now though with a poor selection on the servery where all selections look the same and done on the cheap. Taste was bland with unlimited quantities. No service; just dig in and hope for the best.

Not what we expected, it was clean,staff was nice, but buffet wasn,t great the way they advertise it, it loojs like you get seek kababs and lamb chops, but when asked about it they said you have to pay extra ,so we did, when asked could we have some more we were told it was limited to 2 per person, so still not in the all you can eat buffet, we got there about 7.30pm but the trays were nearly empty and wasn,t restocked, there was no fish like advertised, which is why we went there in first place for one of us, not a lot of choice so wont be back again ,bit of a let down, it is small inside and if busy its hard not to fall over each other, its a shame really !

To start with we didn't release it was an all you can eat buffet. The food was absolutely amazing and desert bar, different ice creams and cakes absolutely lovely.

Absolutely phenomenal, first time coming here, to celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary, food is divine, the staff go out of their way to look after you, we are leaving extremely full and extremely satisfied.

After seeing reviews about this place we decided to give it a try .. we rang up to book a table on a Saturday and managed to get a table ! We was welcomed by friendly staff .. we had lamb chops ,kebabs and popadoms brought to our table which were all lovely and fresh ! There was a great selection on the buffet menu just one thing that was missing was chicken ticka starter but everything else was spot on you could help yourself as much as u wanted ! Great selection of desserts 🍨 lovely friendly staff who were always around to help ! We will definitely be back well worth the money

Great place, all you can eat is great!

Food is not too bad but the service is really terrible. We didn't go for the buffet but ordered individually. While we almost finished the meal one of the waiters held we could go get the buffet dessert if we needed. And then another guy told we can't while some of us really tried to get some desserts. I mean is fine to pay for it once we want just it has to be super clear - two waiters said yes and two said no which is really not a good practice... However, the worst yet to come - those waiters keep saying we should see everything in the desserts menu but in fact they don't have. There is a leaflet with photos but none of the prices were listed - they are telling us the price by verbal and which u can feel the price were mentioned by mood and very "casual". To me, this called scam.

After seeing all reviews though give this a go with family. Food was ok nothing special to be told lamb chop and popadoms is only weekend and you have to buy them but if a joke when paying for a buffet. Kids cocktails £8 each with no alcohol bit of cordial & ice. Bit of a piss take. And to charge kids nearly full price even for a 5 year old joke definitely not coming back as well over priced for standard food

Was looking for an Indian restaurant and came across this. I arrived just before 8.30 pm. Although there were a few local families in the restaurant, it was quiet. They were still serving the buffet. Well, i thought they were, but I was told I was too late even though I was there before the cutoff, and then ordered my meal only to see the families go up and help themselves to the buffet. No explanation. The food was OK, but not the best I've had in this area of the country. A lit of sauce and not much meat. When it came to paying, I asked for a vat receipt and was told they weren't Vat registered. It was a bit of a surprise to come across that in a restaurant. Disappointing service.

After being told about this little gem and seeing the reviews thought we would give it a try and can honestly say it was worth the drive out. Food was all lovely and fresh and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The price was amazing for the quality. Cannot wait to come back again

What a fabulous find!! Been twice this week as we were so impressed - even though its a good 40 mins drive from home. Buffet style help yourself to all manner of tasty Indian starters like bahjis, pakoras and samosas to name a few. There were about 10 or so starters and then we moved on to the delectable main courses!! Butter chicken, Balti, Masala and at least 8 more choices. There is a salad bar and rice selection as well as naan breads and poppadoms. They have a dessert section too with about 10 different ice creams and also choc fudge cake, carrot cake Red velvet and some Indian specialities too. It was about £100 for 4 of us which I think was about average as we each had soft drinks and ice creams for dessert. We will definitely be back!!

Just been to your restaurant sat on table 19, asked to be seated out of the way due to our son having autism, we was put right near the food. Me and my oldest son was sat with our backs to the food getting hit by people while trying to enjoy the food! Then a table of 6 came in at the side and was swearing loudly which is totally unacceptable. The whole experienced while shocking from start to finish.

The wife, myself, & the parents went to “Bury’s Biggest Biffet” yesterday evening (7pm Saturday) This restaurant has been going for many years 10+. However this buffet style is a relatively new addition, within the last 6 months. The restaurant is as you would expect for any Indian restaurant. Rather dark inside with fish tanks and low level LED lighting. They have some window seats so you can look out onto Manchester Road whilst you tuck in. Straight away we noticed that the restaurant was at maximum capacity. It was extremely busy, the friendly staff sat us down in a small waiting area just inside the door whilst they arranged our table. After around 10 minutes we were escorted to a table. (We did pre book) It was busy but no drinks orders were taken. We were asked if we wanted poppadoms. Initially we weren’t asked if we wanted the lamb chop starter. However halfway through our meal a member of staff did ask, and after await and a second ask, we did get served the lamb chops. Understandably there was no menu however the communication with the waiters wasn’t great. The food The curry on offer was of a good standard, especially for a buffet. As you know taste seems to drop off at an “all you can eat” My favourite was the Chicken Tikka Masala, both creamy and sweet with the chicken being nice & tender. The butter chicken was also a hit with me. They also had a good range of differently cooked chicken starters including chicken tikka, and deep fried chicken pieces. The wife (vegetarian) had the Bombay Aloo she said it had lots of flavour had nice big chunks of potato. She said they only had two veggie curry options, so wasn’t a great variety. However the veggie picky bits were nice including deep fried cauliflower and deep fried lentils 👍 My dad had a pint of Cobra beer £5 My mum absolutely loved the lamb chops 👍 To be served lamb chops at your table is a real winner in my book. No other “all you can eat” I have ever been to serves food like this to your table 👍 For desert, they have a good choice of ice cream and cake. We all had the ice cream, it just your standard stuff really but was perfectly acceptable. Overall I wouldn’t come back here on a weekend. Especially not a Saturday evening. It was horribly busy. The tables and chairs are two close together, you can’t get round easily. Expect your bum to end up in someone’s dinner. It’s also to hot, I know it’s busy but the air conditioning needs to be better, it’s almost unbearable. Also they allow prams, which make the tight space even more tricky to navigate. We all thought it was abit pricey for what was on offer. £20.99p X 4 + 1 pint of beer = 88.96 On weekdays it’s £19.99 pp. Thanks indigo, you guys are great!

We went for the Sunday buffet..... it was OK... all fresh, not too dry or crispy as it gets..... a great selection of different curries and starters. The place was FULL at 5.30pm so people obviously know and like the place. There is a carpark at the back of it for you to park. It was warm inside because we were sat in the window, so very cramped too, but we sidnt let that bother us.

Probably the best all you can eat Indian buffet I've been too. I loved the more chilled vibe, it wasn't as hectic as some others I've been too. The staff were lovely and very attentive, couldn't do enough for you and there was a great selection of food, if anyone left here not in a food coma I'd be surprised. The desserts were also fantastic. Highly recommend.

First time here but will definitely be returning one of the best buffet places around food was very nice with a lot of choice ,service was extremely good with friendly and polite staff ,just a really nice place allround .definitely worth a visit.

Booked a table, to then arrive and tell us we wasn’t booked in, but then had a table available. Arrived on table and ordered drinks (cocktails as it’s my birthday) went up to get food as we chose the Buffett. Not a lot of options just the usual, spring rolls were pale as anything no crisp on them what so ever. Onion bahji’s very sloppy! Then we had are own guests! ANTS on the side of us while we was eating! Didn’t need to see or eat anything else I walked out no way I’m being told by staff that Ice cream must of been spilled. Well we arrived at 5.20 for our booked table at 5.30 so how the spilt ice cream happened when they only open at 5 I don’t know. Won’t be going back again. Clearly not cleaning the place properly…. Was really looking forward to this as well but what I’ve seen I wouldn’t bother

Went for the buffet on Father's day. At £17.95 for adults, £13.95 for kids over ten, £9.95 for five year olds+ and under 5s eat free. This represents decent value. They've added more items to the buffet, like tandoori wings, fish pakoras, more curries and Lamb Chops. Only thing missing are poppadoms, which can be ordered separately. You get a choice of one dessert. Normally either ice cream or cake. Food is lovely and fresh. The place very clean, service is satisfactory and has ample free parking.

I ordered spicy food and mentioned in the note also but they delivered sweet spices food this is not good management I am so disappointed.

Horrible food no variety very dispointed

We celebrated our wedding anniversary this evening and as I am now medically housebound we were unable to celebrate with a nice hotel meal. The only suitable solution was to have a meal delivered. We scoured the internet for days, and eventually decided to have a 'set meal for two' from Indigo Indian takeaway.... especially as there is a 20 percent discount on Tuesdays. We ordered several items /options, which included prawn cocktail, chicken korma, chicken tikka masala, and side dishes.......all for less than £20. When it was delivered we were stunned at the banquet they provided. A most wonderful meal beautifully cooked and presented. We will definitely return to sample more of their menu. First visit and we absolutely loved it. We had the buffet and everything was fresh and really tasty. Great selection of curries and sides. Includes unlimited cakes and ice creams for dessert that you order from a menu. Staff were lovely and very attentive. We will be back.

Went for the first time for the buffet and were not disappointed. Staff were very polite and helpful throughout the evening especially Jay, who went above and beyond to cater for our needs . The food was perfect we couldn't fault any dish .Had a wonderful experience and will definitely be going again .

Just had an early dinner here and I recommend it. It’s recently changed to a buffet set up and while it’s not cheapest but the prices are ok for what you get. I thought the drinks prices were a little high and popadoms were extra and again I thought expensive. Some of the food labels on the buffet were not clear but the food was good with the only disappoint being the chips, which were passed their best - but perhaps I should not be eating chips at an Indian restaurant anyway. This is not a gourmet experience and being a buffet you are in and out quite quickly but it’s worth a visit and I’ll go again Give it a try !

Service was great, food was below average...... not much taste, not traditional. Only 1 dessert per person, so not a true buffet.

Tonight we ordered a curry from deliveroo and for some reason the restaurant had problems with the order i was told it was misplaced . we phoned the restaurant and eventually everything was sorted out and we received our meal. Over the phone the manager was excellent , great customer service and very polite and even asked if we would like a free bottle of wine for the error so we had a free bottle of red wine aswell. The food was absolutely delicious and was really pleased with everything. it is still my favourite indian restaurant. The manager was highly professional and the chef did an amazing job of the food too.

My food arrived earlier than promised, it was hot and very tasty. I am never disappointed when I order from here.

Absolutely amazing service. The food is fantastic, waiters are all over the place, they even sang 'happy birthday' for my daughter. it was an amazing experience and will definitely try them again
