Mala in Bury

Six adults and two children visited tonight to celebrate my daughters 40th Birthday, and, as always, the food was superb. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Fantastic service, fantastic food, all tastes catered for and all at a very reasonable price. I had the chicken and mushroom Shirazi, and it was really delicious. Thanks once again to the staff at Mala for a lovely evening.

Love going to Mala. Have been going there for a long time. Small intimate restaurant. Always greated by super friendly staff. The food is delicious and fresh every time. I love having the Chicken tikka Jalfrezi. Definitely recommend.

We visited Mala Indian and can’t recommend enough food was the best Indian food we’ve ever had. Service was fantastic and staff can’t do enough for you. We will definitely be back!

Visited with friends. Great meal, great service. Mixed starters, lamb chops, and owner’s choice of one meat/one chicken/one prawn/one veg curries, plus sundries.

Visited on a Thursday night taking my mum out for a meal after having not visited for many years - food was just as fantastic as I remembered! I had a Chicken Tikka Rogan Josh, she had a Lamb Bhuna, with a side of garlic naan and vegetable rice - all were lovely and the service was warm and attentive.Would definitely recommend!

Came here on a Friday night and were strangely the only table in. Decor is dated and half complete with cobwebs and generally unclean. The service was slow considering we were the only table not sure why, had to ask twice for drinks. Food was bland had to add salt, they gave us a wrong starter and wrong main but when challenged they told us it was right however when we got the bill the food was also wrong on the bill. £140 for 4 people for poor food, service and atmosphere - definitely won't be going back and would not recommend. Much better restaurants in Ramsbottom.

Bland food, rubbish service (staff couldn't look less interested if they tried), absolute rip off, won't ever eat here again, don't waste your money.

Called in on a Sunday evening (after being let down elsewhere). Very quiet but the staff, the service and the food were excellent. Lovely quiet atmosphere with friendly staff.

Can’t believe I’m a saying I’ve had an average takeaway from mala - the chips were borderline cold when they arrived, forgot my garlic naan

unfortunately we were not aware how spicy the garlic chilli chicken was and we couldn't eat the blumin thing. it would be a good idea to indicate how spicy there currys are.

Great food. But... Over 2 hours wait for our food! All I got when I rung the first time was that it's left sir. Then the second time I rung 20 mins later it's just left now sir and that all our orders are late sir. I told them it's the last time I part with the thick end of £100 with them again and I got a sarcastic, ok sir. Thank you sir. I understand things go wrong but this is a complete and utter piss take.

Not able to comment on the quality of the food because I am still waiting for it to be delivered 2 hours 15 minutes so far and still not delivered ....not impressed!

Very late. Very cold. Will not order from here again. They should not give an estimated delivery time of 50-60 minutes and it takes 2 hours.

Excellent food. The restaurant is really interesting. It's a converted old pub. There's a beautiful multi fuel stove. Lovely friendly service and great atmosphere.

Pretty disappointing. I will caveat this review with the fact the delivery guy was lovely. However…food decidedly average and borderline cold. Popadoms burnt and shouldn’t have left the kitchen. Overpriced for what was delivered.

It was cold. Left on door step. Rang the bell and I was at the door within 20 seconds. Got RING DOOR footage. Nan bread was tough. Not soft or easy to tear. First time trying Mala. Recommended to try. Usually order from Eastern Eye. I’ll stick to what I know.

Delivery was early, and the food was good. Unfortunately, rather angry about the delivery guy. I opened the door, and the first thing he did was complain that he'd tried to ring me, and that he'd been walking around for ten minutes. I checked my phone, and haven't recieved any missed calls. My phone was right by me the whole time. Would have explained or apologized if he hadn't been so rude. Unlikely to order from you guys again, despite how good the food was, simply because the delivery experience was so upsetting.

3rd visit. Clearly friendly and a place for the locals (ask about the slow cooked lamb for regulars) cater for vegetarians well with flavoursome dishes. We substituted 2 dishes on our Thali but was charged extra. Didn't quibble, toilets need an upgrade.

To start off the poppadoms we’re burnt&soft, The rogan Josh was mainly tomatoes with barely any chicken, not spicy at all. butter chicken was barely creamy at all , very greasy &tasted almost minty , overall disappointed in the quality of food that I received

Lovely food but mostly cold on arrival - was due from 7.55pm and turned up at 8.40pm. Has to ring the restaurant in the end.

My family and I have been coming to eat at the Mala for years now, and somehow have only just discovered the restaurant is on Just Eat?? The food was all piping hot which was brilliant, and everything has the same restaurant-quality flavour! We won’t be ordering an Indian takeaway from anywhere else from now on! Wish I could give them 6 stars :)

We ate at this restaurant around 20 odd years ago and were totally underwhelmed. Then tried a takeaway about 5 years ago and still disappointed. Chefs change, management changes but we gave them another go tonight (Sept 2023) and flavour and depth were really non existent (except for the spiced poppadom which, although slightly burnt, was the best thing!). Both of us have lived in London, Birmingham and Stoke so experienced some great curries over 30 years ago. We are not impressed by big chunks of potato and onions with a mild sauce. If you have a curry kit or make your own then please do, as it is much cheaper and more nourishing than this. £40.00 for two what a rip off. Three strikes and that’s it for us !

Went for a family meal to celebrate exam results. Fantastic meal, nothing too much trouble. Best Indian meal for miles around. Would 100% recommend Mala.

It was a little quiet for a Saturday, but it was just after Christmas. Was looked after from start to finish host chatted throughout the meal a very enjoyable evening

It’s been years since we last visited, but we’ll be back soon. Lovely meal, good service. Chicken chom chicken pakora, and onion bhajis to start, lamb and spinach, chicken tikka, and saag aloo. All recommended.

Recently held a curry/quiz night, amazing turnout from the local villagers and friends. TOTAL SUCCESS. Mixed platters were offered following poppadoms starters, along with Vegetarian options.

Had Christmas dinner there yesterday. Excellent food and service. Definitely recommend.

Appalling service. Ordered at 7.45pm for 8.50pm delivery. Rang several times from 9pm to be told they are very busy. Never experienced this before but completely unacceptable. Food was excellent, in the end.

Disappointed! Food arrived late, Our order was also incorrect. Specifically asked for no egg due to dietary requirements/allergies but it came with an omelette! Poppadoms came without any chutney or sauces whatsoever! Straight in the bin!

I would of liked to have given this place a 4 or 5 stars for the food (as it was delicious) however my mum and I was told the order would be delivered in an hour. Two and a half hours later the food arrived with the 'we are very busy excuse.' To top that off the old delivery guy disrespectfully said to me that my mum was 'tidy' with a grin on his face, so not very impressed. To the delivery guys or staff if you read this, have a little respect for your constumers and keep your opinions to yourself! Have some professionalism about you because it's not appropriate! You are providing a food service not a chat up service! No excuses, I don't want to hear it and my mum didn't appreciate it or feel particularly comfortable with it either. I'm not one to normally complain but we won't be going back!

Haven’t been to Mala for years and was a last minute decision to go for dinner tonight. Food was absolutely wonderful and the hospitable “perfect service” made for the most enjoyable meal. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back ASAP.

Appalled at the lack of ANY vegetarian or vegan options. Wouldn’t even give us a bowl of plain chips despite them having chicken and chips on the menu… very hungry and sad

One of my favorite curry houses! Always consistent in taste and quality. Delivery driver Abeed greets me lovely every time and usually quite early. always service with a smile from him.

Food arrived early, was hot and was very good. The delivery driver, Abeed, is a top bloke, always nice to my kids when they rush to open the door to him.

We order regularly from Mala. It’s consistently excellent, the deliveries are on time and the food is always hot. We love this place and Abeed is just the nicest delivery driver!

Best curry and dining experience we've had for a few years. Lovely staff, lovely food and nice surroundings. Seeing the chefs cooking at the back adds to the experience and it was well worth our trip up from Manchester. We can't wait to go back.

Food was great and delivery with a smile from Abeed

We received a really warm welcome when we visited tonight. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was amazing. We ordered a range of dishes including 2 lamb dishes which were so tender - practically melt in the mouth. The chicken tikka was really juicy and the beer was cold - what more could you ask for? We'll definitely be back again.

Second visit in a couple of weeks. Fantastic food, very friendly staff and excellent service. Moved to the area recently and tried all the other local Indian restaurants and none of them are a patch on the food Mala serves.

Back for the second week in a row. We are always well looked after and the curry is tasty. Can't fault it, we have been going for years and hopefully will for years to come.

We go here for family meals quite a lot and get takeaways only too often. The food is great and service is friendly. The food is fantastic and always consistently good.

Just been here for a night out. Best food available locally served by our ever smiling host. Chicken Pakora for starters with Chicken Maglai for the main. Both were excellent with plenty of flavour and cooked to perfection. Hosts were attentive and friendly and happy to top up with a few "freebie" Bailey's. Such lovely people and will be returning here again soon.

Food was 20 minutes late and cold when it finally arrived. Popadoms and naan were good but the Chicken tikka masala was watery and tasteless. Biriyani just ok, had better :(
