Friendly staff. Essentially a bakery with large cafe area. Food expensive for the quality - greasy spoon style. My scrambled egg and salmon came on sourdough bread - which was very thinly sliced and soaked in butter/ margarine. English breakfast came with huge doorstep ‘toast’. But staff friendly, helpful & nice atmosphere in cafe

I order a large Vanilla Latte every time and when it comes to the free coffee offer after ordering six of them I have to separately pay for the vanilla shot. Considering what Simmons charge for coffee and food this policy is a bit ridiculous and makes me consider going elsewhere.

Bought a 3 cheese slice today for my tea. I actually got what looked like a steak slice, here's the thing. It had NO steak, it had probably less than 10% of some layer of brown. No meat at all, 90% was the most crumbliest pastry I've ever seen. You can't sell that, you ve been bakers since 1838, I not going to be the first or last to write a review like this but come on seriously bakers since 1838, sending people home to put that on your plate. Might as well go Aldi.

We dropped into SImmons when visiting Letchworth and although the coffees etc were made from a machine not by a barista they were perfectly nice but the real reason to visit here is the bakery with an extensive seclection of yummy cakes and pastries. Only one other table being used and maybe two in the queue but 3 people serving, but several tables left with dirty trays and food waste on. When we sat at the forced the long seat was covered in crumbs and the floors everywhere we looked hadn't been swept up. Pretty grim considering they make a fuss about hygiene and covid at the counter and charge nearly £3 for a hot chocolate from a machine.

Very disappointed with our visit today. We were served by a very rude lady who snapped at us when we asked about which table we could sit at. She was rude and blunt when we ordered our food and didn’t seem very happy to be at work. The food is also very over priced for what you get- not even a side salad or crisps served with it. We are regular customers to this good bakery, but experience often spoiled by long wait for service to buy bread while the majority of the staff concentrate on serving eat-in customers. For example, today, a Saturday morning at 10.00 a.m. had 4 staff serving, but we waited 5-10 minutes being ignored while a que formed out of the door while staff concentrated on serving customers who were eating in. Customers who entered behind those in the que but were eating in were served first. If you’re in a hurry, Days of Ashwell nearly opposite has no similar issues.

I'll start by saying I never leave bad reviews as I understand how stressful customer facing jobs can be, however my visit today has left such a sour taste in my mouth. Came in for the first time to get a sausage sandwich and hash browns today around half 12, the lady serving didn't say hello or even smile, just glared and asked "white bread?" and I asked what else they had, she sighed and listed the 3 types of bread available. She wordlessly chucked my food at me on the counter, knocking one of the bags on the floor. I paid and went to sit down.Halfway through my second bite the lady who served me shouted across the cafe "you cant eat here, you paid for takeaway you have to leave". I apologised and said I wasn't aware I paid for takeaway (as she didn't ask me whether I was eating in or not) and got up to leave. I heard her laugh with her colleague as I walked out, struggling to hold all my food and my drink. Not only was she rude to me personally, she embarrassed me in front of a full cafe of people. The kicker is I paid £6.70 for the privilege. Will not be returning again. The only positive I have to say is I accidently left my cardigan there in the rush to leave and the friendly young girl chased after me to give it back.

The food was okay here but nothing out of the ordinary. We just dived in the first place we came across as we were hungry having travelled from Nottingham.

The food here is ok, mainly pre cooked and kept warm, the baguettes are freshly made but a little pricey. However the staff are friendly and helpful. If you want a tea and a cake then it's ok, but there are better places to go..

Average ok bakers in most of the local towns try a cheese and bacon puff or hot savoury roll ... They can be tight with filling in rolls and sandwiches

Food not cheap. In fact expensive. . Pay more for eating in. . Bacon and sausages looked frazzled and inedible. . Obviously been sitting there for a long long. time.. Lots of tables not cleared. And young girls serving wouldnt no what good customer service is , if it came and jumped out on them. Not a smile, a hello or a thankyou in sight. . Sausage roll was nice though.

Asked for an egg and bacon sandwich in Hitchin branch on doorstep bread. Was told this would cost £4!!!! Unbelievable I made one at home instead.

We usually pop in for a snack when shopping in town. My wife and I often have a sausage roll and a cup of coffee and often cannot resist taking cakes or biscuits home to eat later.

This has been our local for 10 years. We’ve seen a few changes during that time and have always supported it. Unfortunately it seems to have turned into a sports bar. I can understand this for the E
